Stayed in adjacent Premier Inn because we were going to a concert at NEC. We bought the meal deal which included evening meal and breakfast. Just speaking for my own meal, my wife and son had similar problems, my salmon for my evening meal was undercooked. For my breakfast, my black pudding was under cooked and cold and my grilled tomato tasted like it had come straight from the fridge. I am not blaming the waitresses as they were busy but the cook needs talked to. This was not an acceptable standard.

The staff must be paid so poorly because they can’t even crack a smile. The service was so slow and depressing. We had to wait 45 minutes for our food and when our food arrived it was okay. My sisters chips were still uncooked. We did not feel a friendly welcome at all. It was a Friday but the Friday feeling was not there at all. Way over priced for what you get! Don’t rush yourself to try this restaurant

Was served by Rachael who I have to say was a credit to the company. Extremely friendly and helpful and quick to serve the food and drinks. Food was good and plentiful. Only criticism was the steak on my mixed grill was more rare than well done. Other than that no complaints.

We visited this restaurant on the way back to the hotel after a long day in training. What a disappointment the place needs to be cleaned as the menus were dirty and so was the cutlery and table.The food was average but overpriced for what it was. All in all disappointing visit. Whitbred should take notice of the reviews and smarten this place up. Considering it’s next to a premier inn I feel sorry for the people staying here. Dreadful place to eat.

Staying in the Premier inn opposite. Ate here tonight with a fellow colleague. The starter arrived stone cold, which I made the waitress aware of. It was taken away, microwaved and brought back 20 minutes later, steaming hot and still with the half eaten scollop I had tasted and the mash potato was dry and hard on the top. The main arrived which had been sitting under the heat lights for approximately 15 minutes, along with around 15-20 other dishes. I ordered a side of skinny fries that arrived stone cold and rubbery which I sent back, only to be told by the waiter, ‘sorry about that, I’ll get them warmed up for you’ they then arrived back 10-15 minutes later after me and my colleague had finished our mains. Listening to the chef shout and scream at the service staff and threaten to leave along side throwing kitchen utensils around and slamming doors only added to the awful atmosphere! Food was terrible, the service was terrible, the restaurant was absolutely filthy. The hotel is great, if you have the pleasure of staying here, there is a Harvester down the street along with a Mac Donald’s and a KFC. Better food, better service. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! At all costs! I would rate zero stars if I could!!!!

A last minute meal was decided upon yesterday. As a party of 7 we arrived at 5.45pm on the Saturday afternoon / evening. We asked for a table and to be fair they found us one after a minute or two. After about 15 minutes the waitress arrived to see what we wanted to drink, but as we had been looking at menus for the last 1/4 hour we ordered food at the same time.The 3 young kids had the children's three course set meals at about £5.50 each and the adults ordered their mixed bag of food. We then waited.... after 15 / 20 minutes the drinks arrived and about another 10 minutes after that the starters arrived for the two people who had ordered them. Starters duly eaten and then we waited again firstly for them to clear the table, (my wife gave up and moved the now empty glasses and plates on to the empty table next to us) and for the main courses to arrive. In total a good 30 - 40 minutes from the finish of the starters to the arrival of the main course. That seemed to be going ok until it was realised that the kitchen had missed the meatballs from one of the kids meatballs and pasta, so the kid started her meal by eating the pasta and the meatballs turned up some 5 minutes later. The child is only 4 so she was getting confused as to where her meatballs had gone.We eat the main courses and waited again, the waitress came round with the dessert menu and we ordered a couple of desserts, plus the desserts for the kids. The now obligatory wait ensued the adults desserts arrived but the children's funny face ice cream didn't arrive until the adults had finished their desserts.We finally finished the meal almost 3 hours after arrival. The bill would have been close to £150 but for the tastecard we had which reduced it to a more reasonable £95.The meal was 3 children's meals and the included drinks, two scallops as starters, 1 rump steak, 1 chicken and ribs, 2 chicken grills. The desserts were Blackcurrant and apple crumble, Black forest sundae, Sloe gin trifle and a Chocolate fondant thing. We had between us 4 beers, and 2 bottomless soft drinks. If this is the best that they can manage I feel it is very far from acceptable service. The prices seem very high for what is essentially pub grub.

Birthday party at 8pm. Starters arrived at 8-45. Never saw another staff member until 9-15pm when the mains arrived. Starter plates and empty drinks glasses still on the table unremoved.Really poor customer care and we had to go to ask for a round of drinks. Food was acceptable although mixed grill was over cooked. As the empty plates were being removed we were ironically asked if we "wanted more chips." We paid the £105 bill and left without a sweet or coffees. Visited yesterday evening with wife after work looking to start weekend with a nice meal.2 tonic waters, 2 lagers, veggie chilli, rump steak and garlic bread starter £45The veggie chilli was no better than a cheap microwave meal and the steak was poor, griddle forcing me to remove from mouth as it was not possible to chew. The grilled tomato was freezing.The garlic bread was soaked in garlic butter, too much. All in all it was a very poor meal.We made the lady aware who looked after us Alison and to be fair without asking they discounted £10.71 off the bill.It was not their fault and they managed it well.Unlikely to return as the standard is poor compared to for example nearby ember inn where for similar meal it would cost £20 less.The restaurant was chilly too.We used to visit here frequently however not been for a while.It’s unlikely we will return I’m afraid.It’s underwhelming is how I would describe.

Tried here as the hotel I was staying in nearby wasn’t offering a great food offering. Eaten at many beefeaters so knew what to expect. First visit the place was packed and the staff managed to squeeze me into a spare table so I rang and booked for the rest of the week although it was less busy so would advise others to book ahead. I think the premier inn guests get a voucher for something? Food was as expected and even when I customised 99% of my order, the staff dealt with it and the food was good. Don’t usually review chains as once you’ve been to one, you’ve been to them all! But I wanted to highlight the staff as being great. Friendly and chatty and bent over backwards for me. One lady, who is called Barbara according to the receipt, was particularly helpful and was an asset to the management team here.

No staff. Dirty toilets. Dirty seating area. Never again. No cups at breakfast, Costa coffee sachets. No hot water, no plates for toast. No staff!

The waiting on staff are great here but the kitchen and management are terrible. My steak wasn’t cooked right and the quality was terrible. They wouldn’t allow me to swap a tomato for a mushroom... I mean how stupid is that! 20 minutes to get an omelette for breakfast. I’d never come here again.

Went for a family meal at 6.30pm. Waitress did her best but seemed to have far too many tables to serve. Long wait between courses and took nearly two and a half hours for just a two course meal. Food was pretty uninspiring, triple cooked chips were like Iceland chunky chips and all food very basic, perhaps that’s what Beefeater is all about but for the same price or less you can get much better food in many of the local restaurants. It all looks a bit tired and dated.

The menu seems really boring and standard to what it did the few years ago when we went. The waitress was lovely and attentive but how well done means still that raw I will never understand, It ruined it for me totally and who wants a plate of mushroom water and blood???wont ever be going again

I visited the plough today for lunch with my family. We were greeted by the warm and friendly waitress her name was Sophie. She gave us time to settle in before taking our drink and food orders. The drinks arrived shortly after our order was taken. Then our mains followed about 15 minutes after. The waitress came back to check if all was good with our food. We will be returning to The Plough again.
