As a regular visitor to this restaurant got to say how disappointed we were with both the meals we were served this evening. I ordered the sirloin steak to be cooked medium. When it arrived I've got to say as a former butcher this was the flattest and roundest sirloin I've ever come across and as it was so thin it was well and truly over cooked. Upon turning it over it was cremated . I've seen minute steak cooked better. As for my wife's meal she ordered the salmon with mash. For £17.99 she got a slice of (again over cooked) salmon a dollop of packet mash and a handful of rocket. By the time we got the attention of the waitress the wife had eaten most of hers and I was past hungry. We have notice over the last few months a steady decline in the standard and potion sizes of the meals. Will be a long time before we come here again. One extremely disappointed regular customer now going elsewhere.

Seated, drinks ordered, 20 minutes later still no drinks. Went to bar to collect ourselves. Got our meal after a very long wait, medium well steak was very rare. Sent it back, salad brown, veg soaking in oil, got it back, tasted awful. Left most of meal, waitress asked if all ok and we said no - sorry was the response. Had to go to bar to lay, told manager meal was awful and was told basically it's too late as we have now paid. Complained online with receipt number as requested and 2 weeks on, no response. Never again.

Fantastic restaurant for a family friendly meal. Donna (our waitress) was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for her - all the drinks and food orders taken very efficiently and she served all of our drinks and food to the correct person promptly. Chicken wings are a firm family favourite to start!!! Great choice of mains and choice of chips or fries so each meal really seemed personally prepared just for us. We love coming to the Plough and Donna is an absolute credit to the business!!!

Very rude and arrogant service. Not only the staff is unpleasant to customers, but the atmosphere seems to be odd between employees. Every time I come to Beefeeater in Solihull, I leave annoyed. This time, it was definitely the worst experience, and I do not think I will come to the Solihull branch again.

I have never been here for breakfast before but myself and a friend decided to try it out yesterday. The experience was very disappointing. We were greeted and sat down, the waitress said she would be back shortly. She did not leave us any menus so we had to go to another empty table to get one. 10 minutes later she came back to take our order, we said we wanted the £10.99 both continental and hot food breakfast. She went to walk off and I had to ask where we were supposed to get the continental from so she finally advised us. We went to get our continental breakfast and drinks, came back to the table and she brought over our hot meals before we had even had chance to start our other food. The continental food was lacking in choice and the pancakes were stone cold, as if just out of the fridge and there was a large sign next to them saying they were not to go into the toaster. I thought I would try them with some fruit as no maple syrup was available but they were freezing cold and inedible. The cooked breakfast was better but I did order a poached egg and was served a fried egg. There was nobody in sight to speak to regarding this so I just left the incorrect egg. Our waitress looked over several times but never came over, there were piles of plates on several tables and one of the servers was dancing around singing to the music that was playing. In our other ear we had a radio wittering on. We did not expect a quiet breakfast as their were lots of families in, but the families were fine, it was the radio playing music in one ear and the music and a staff member singing in the other ear with different music that spoit it for us. We could have walked out without paying as literally nobody seemed to want our money even when we put our coats on. In the end I walked over and handed over the cash as we had needed to get on with our day. Very average food, messy food area that was not cleaned when we were there, cold pancakes/croissants and no way of heating them up and wrong breakfast. We had a bad experience in the restaurant a couple of months ago with poor service and food and thought we would give the breakfast a try but we won't be back after this experience.

We are regular visitors as a couple or with friends but our visit with family was not good. We arrived late afternoon and very few people there. Service was slow and food kept on the pass far too long. The children's meals were excellent value but the two rump steak & chips from the day time menu were dry and very disappointing. As it was a birthday meal with family it was awkward to ask for fresh food or actually complain which I would have done if we had been served that meal as a couple. Not sure if was lack of staff, inexperienced staff or generally quality of food but no intentio of returning with a party of friends or family.

I have been to this Beefeater on many occasions and had excellent food and service. It was my first visit this year and things have really gone downhill since my last visit in December. Myself and a friend were shown to a table and the waitress asked what drinks we wanted as we were walking to our table before being seated. We had our food orders taken and I was asked if I wanted garlic bread with my main meal for an additional cost, I said no but this was on my plate and charged for. The starters were awful we had very overcooked mushrooms in batter that shattered when touched. We ate what we could as our waitress was less than friendly and we didnt want to cause a problem. The mains came and as I said I had the garlic bread I had not ordered plus a side salad that was included in the cost, but it was a half empty bowl which looked liked someone had returned it previously. I really hope this was not the case and left most of it (but regret eating any of it in hindsight), plus the bowl looked dirty near the top. My butternut squash lasagne was piping hot but it was teaming with cheese, literally so much it was unbearable. My friends Gammon and chips was adequate but not to the usual standard. We decided to have dessert and our waitress came over to take our plates and asked if we wanted to order, we said yes please, she said she would be back in a minute, then went through a door and came out about a minute later with her coat and bag and walked straight out of the door. Another waitress came about 10 minutes later and asked if we wanted to order desserts now so we declined and asked for the bill. All in all a very disappointing experience, we really wont be rushing back again after this experience. Don't waste your money eating here, there are lots of places to eat nearby that are of a much better standard.

Table booked for 2.30pm . Waited for 10 minutes to even gain attention of waiting staff . Eventually was greeted by what seemed manager whose attitude was disgusting, she spoke in acronyms about tables of 8 and that we would have to wait 50 minutes for meals . When challenged she said not her fault, it was the computers and if we have a problem take it up with the booking system . She constantly undermined me calling me sweet . I was with elderly parents , she didn’t give a dsmn that we were going to leave . I will not be recommending or returning there as service was disgraceful . Ironically if she had have been welcoming it may have changed our decision . We ended up driving all over to find a restaurant with elderly parents . This is the reason I book Very disappointed

I stay at Premier Inn a lot on business. This Beefeater is by far the friendliest place in the chain I have ever experienced. This is in no short measure due to a young lady called Abbie, she must have a lasso because she appears to keep the few staff focused and run the place single handed whilst keeping all of the customers happy. She is an absolute credit to the organisation. The world and the hospitality industry needs more Abbie’s.

Booked a table for 10 for a family meal following my Mother's funeral. Some of the chairs were grubby and stained so we exchanged them with a nearby table. The waiting staff were poor, getting various items wrong or missing items out and not particularly pleasant. There was also a very 'loud' lady who came over once or twice I believe to ask if everything was OK and mess around with the exit door. We waited quite a long time for our order considering that the restaurant was basically empty. The prices charged here for very basic and unappealing fodder are ridiculous but we had no choice at this point to go someplace else. Considering the occasion, I am of the belief that the staff may have been more engaging and willing to help. All those that we encountered appeared bored, demotivated and uncaring and the 'loud' lady would be better suited in a working men's club. All of us agreed that none of us would visit this place again and we all left completely underwhelmed with both the 'service' and the food quality, taste and presentation. Definitely there is work to be done here.

I wish I had read the reviews before I had booked. This used to be a lovely venue serving a varied menu with excellent service but that was before Beefeater decided to become a "steak house". As my mum lives locally and this used to be a favourite venue of my parents when my dad was alive I thought it would be a nice tea time treat. The car park was very full but it became apparent this must be Premier Inn guests. Disabled bays are at the front near the main entrance however if you do not know they are there you would never find them due to very poor marking and lighting. It actually feels hazardous when parking and then alighting a wheelchair user. We arrived at 5:15 and the place was pretty empty. The manageress and a member of staff were chatting by the pass while we stood waiting to be seated, after a few minutes she gave us her attention. Where we sat there was a pile of crumbs on the floor around the table but as my mum cannot see well I decided to not mention this. The waitress who served us was cheerful and pleasant and took our drinks order. The menu is very limited in choice if you don't want a steak even for my mum who is a meat eater. More limited if you are pescatarian of vegetarian and abhor fake meat. The waitress came to take our order and apologised for the delay in our drinks coming due to my ordering bellini and the need to open something (not sure if it was the peach puree or the fizz). My mum ordered the breaded mushrooms to start and the gammon with egg and pineapple served with chips and peas for her main. I ordered the calamari to start and the highlighted prawn and vegetable skewer which comes with salad, flatbread and fries. We also ordered a side of onion rings to share. Our starters came soon enough. Presentation on the mushrooms sadly lacking. a pile of breaded mushrooms on a plate and a dip. No garnish, nothing. However mushrooms were hot and my mum enjoyed them. The calamari however was as tough as old boots and nothing like calamari you would have had anywhere else. This should be a succculent dish served with an aioli but instead is served with chillies both on the calamari and in the sauce. I ate it but wouldn't have it again. We then waited an age for our mains. We were at a table at the front near the kitchen. I saw our onion rings sitting on the pass for a while, I also saw my prawn skewer being plated on the pass. The fascinating thing is the kitchen staff (no chef present, these are all guys who know how to fry food and assemble things) spent more time looking at the screens they were reading the orders from than actually looking at the food. There was no co-ordination or urgency seen like you would expect in a kitchen. Sadly many plates seemed to sit on the pass for ages waiting for service. I work in IT and appreciate the digital age however with no system to tell a member of waiting staff when food is ready there is a clear disconnect in service. I actually watched staff including the manageress paying more attention to polishing cutlery while food sat on the pass waiting to be served. My mum's food was obviously cooked after mine and once done we were served. I took one bite out of a prawn that was luke warm and advised the waitress my food wasn't hot and the onion rings had sat on the pass for 15 minutes. She took both plates away. They were back in minutes. I can only assume the onion rings were refried to warm the up and as for the skewer the prawn I had bitten had been replaced but it was no warmer. I gave in and ate it. The prawns looked lovely like they should have been juicy and succulent however they were also as tough as old boots. The warmest thing on the plate was the chips. The flatbread was like cardboard. The best thing on the plate was the salad. My mum's gammon was thick and overcooked and also tough. I struggled to find the waitress to pay the bill. I asked both a passing waitress and the manageress as they walked past and clearly neither heard me. Eventually I walked up to the till. Our waitress finally brought the bill. When asked how everything was I expressed how disappointing it was. I probably should have complained to the manageress but it really felt like no one cared or understood what a good ingredient was or how it should be cooked. The prawn skewer was almost £20. Daylight robbery comes to mind. I can only think the way the Plough still survives today is by buying cheap ingredients and not caring about how they are cooked or presented. We will not be returning and it is really sad to see how shabby the interior is with patching on seats. In need of a refurb and an complete overhaul as a venue and Beefeater menu planners need a rethink!!!

We complained about the rude service which was pointless. The menu is very small and not much to pick from. If you have booked for Christmas Dinner please don't expect a decent dinner. I think they'll have better at Weatherspoons or in a prison. The veg was hard, stuffing what you used to have at school, pre cooked and warmed up turkey slices and hard veg. £70 for 2 adults and 2 children, avoid, avoid, avoid

Dreadful service. Sooooooo slow. We were exhausted after an early morning start, a full day of work at the NEC,so as we were staying at the premier inn, we went to the beefeater for quickness and convenience . Big mistake, not only was the service slow my food had obviously been sat under the heat lamps, as the salad garnish and coleslaw were hot. the chicken was snivelled and dry, any sign of the ‘melt’ had disappeared. Just a badly cooked piece of chicken with a shrivelled up bit of bacon on the top. My partner said his chicken and ribs were ok. But when he complained he didn’t get his extra sauce he had ordered, a grumpy woman said , the extra sauce only came with he chicken and ribs combo, which was hat he had in front of him. They did well on the drinks as we managed 3 drinks in the time we were waiting and even they were slow. We are here for 4 nights and we don’t be eating in there again. Worse then Wetherspoons at double the price.

Visiting for a Monday lunchtime as we fancied a roast , the staff were friendly and understood my food needs due to illness and accommodated them, the food was hot and delicious only fault you don’t get a full Yorkshire pudding now but a piece clearly cut from a larger one ,would be a 5 star if they go back to full one as crunchier which nicer with gravy

Wonderful lunch at a what is a very busy time of year in the hospitallity inustry. All staff were very attentive and pub atmosphere was great. Food was excellent, wiht generous portions. Charlotte; our waitress was brilliant ensuring that we had everything we needed for an enjoyable meal. I had never visited the Red Lion previously, but it will certainly be on my list to take my family to in the future.
