Initially served by a member of staff impersonating Morticia who only smiles to fellow staff.......then after 3 drinks a friend was asked if the electric bike was his by the pool table which was not noticeably causing an obstruction.......the guy asking was wearing dark jeans and a blue tracksuit top with 3 white stripes down the sleeve...... My friend with a smirk denied it being his bike at first, it was at point that the guy asking about the bike became more aggressive/antagonistic in his manner...... As I'm currently on a course involving customer service, what I've witnessed today in this establishment is some of the poorest customer service I've seen in a fair while..........

The best pub in Nottingham, 2 pool tables, really friendly and welcoming staff, decent prices for drinks and food and 2 for 1 pizza deal on a Monday. The best wood fired pizza I’ve had! Nothing negative can be said about this pub!

Pizza is really good here but ordered a Caesar salad and got lettuce with 3 pieces of bacon and no chicken FOR £10!!!

Called in for a couple of drinks and had three small plates to share. The food was great and the service was excellent.

Enjoyed the Easter activities for children - egg hunt, craft activities, and face painting - all completely free! 5/5. Overall a fantastic and relaxed pub suitable for all.

My go to spot during postgraduate days, quaint and agreeable. Lovely ambience and staff, the shroom pizza is heavenly, give it a try!

I have never felt so unwelcome in a pub! Since Zelenskyy visited the Whitehouse a more frosty welcome has not been received. We felt a burden to the staff by ordering drinks. Perhaps you should remind your staff that this is what is the job!

Go in, it looks like a dive from outside but it's actually a really nice quirky pub . Just popped in for a pint, very happy I did

Had an amazing experience here. Pizza was delicious and the chef Alex was brilliant. The bar staff James and Nat were super helpful and kind and couldn’t do enough for you. This is the perfect pub for a good night out.

We came for the pub quiz and we loved it, Alex the host is hilarious and really helpful too, it was such a fun night, great quiz, the bar staff James and Nat were lovely and welcoming too, speedy service with a smile! will definitely be back

Place itself is lovely and cozy. We went as a big group and a very impolite blonde waitress kicked us out the poets room shouting at us. Used to be different a year ago now the atmosphere is bad.

Foods great and staff are so kind and such good service here I recommend coming and it’s very good values staff deserve a raise for all there hard work I even noticed them taking furniture out in this cold weather

The food here is so good .. we went two days in a row ..reasonable prices friendly staff just really lovely pub .you will not be disappointed.and the pizza’s are amazing!

The atmosphere and decor was nice, as was the service! The food was good and they catered well for allergies, but they were out of half the ingredients so we had a very limited choice.

Alex was a brilliant chef and accommodated to all my dietary needs. The service was very fast and friendly and even offered to put the italian hard cheese on the side for us because one of the guests did not like hard cheese. Anthony was our server and was very kind and helpful. He explained the offers to us and made sure I was able to eat despite my allergies. Very good!!

I really enjoyed food, it was my third time visiting the Playwright pub and I like it. Great pizza's and they are fresh made, also sides and starters worth to try. I really recommend the place 😋.

I come in here every now and then, and every time Tanya always gives the best service, always happy to help and nothing is a bother for her. Will definitely come in again!

Visiting from.scotland and what an absolute pleasure this was food was amazing the pizza made fresh to order haven't taisted pizza like this full with my favourite toppings and fast service chef was on point . Staff are very welcoming and the atmosphere there was so nice would definitely be back and bring out family well worth the trip and this made our dinner evening fab 👌

Came in here when visiting friends down in Nottingham for drinks and a small catchup. The atmosphere was great, and our server was lovely and accommodating. Food was nothing short of amazing, with myself having pizza. Was cooked to perfection, and came out still fresh and hot. Definitely reccomended.

We booked our wedding reception here in the Poets Corner function space. Such a beautiful, memorable evening, very chill and such a lovely atmosphere. Staff were so accommodating, patient and graceful - and even supplied a knife and plates for our wedding cake. Thank you all so much!

Alex is an amazing quiz master - we thoroughly enjoy her quizzes every tuesday. The whole team are so welcoming. Our favourite pub in Notts!

Great place for a drink. Came in on Friday night… it wasn’t too busy and wasn’t too quiet. Great mix of students and locals. Somewhere I would definitely come again for a mellow pint. Pool table as well for a bit of fun. Good vibes in here, I recommend.

The playwright quiz on a Tuesday was recommended to us and it was one of the best pub quizzes in notts! Alex is hilarious and a great host, the quiz is diverse and well worth the brain power when the prizes are great. Since we loved alex so much we returned to try some of her food which was delishhhh. We love you alex!

Went to this pub on a quiz night and found it very pleasant, not often you go into a pub the looks very hygienic and with polite staff behind the bar also makes the experience a lot nicer, we had some pizza and wings and they were extremely well flavoured and an absolute delight to eat, will definitely be returning.

Went to this quiz the other night hosted by Alex and it was probably the best quiz night I have ever been to (which is a lot). She was so funny, and the quiz was actually very interesting. We also came in and ate the other day, and she was there doing the food which was again, outstanding. What can she not do??? Definitely will be back for the quiz every week and cannot wait to eat here again!!

Been here a few times sometimes for quiz night which is brilliant, lots of fun and a great atmosphere, also like to go here with my son and grandchildren for food which is absolutely delicious!!! Cannot fault the staff and surroundings, they always make you feel welcome! lovely little find that is to be enjoyed by all walks of life, would definitely recommend a visit

I highly recommend The Playwright for lunch. They have a new “pizza sando” (a type of pizza sandwich) lunch deal which comes with a drink. My favourite is the Korean-inspired pizza sando with jackfruit and kimchi. The food is delicious and the coffee absolutely hits the spot. Alex at the pizza oven and James at the bar are super friendly and welcoming. I’m sure to visit many more times.

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, we come every Tuesday and often come many other days because we absolutely love it here!! Student, professional, anyone - you will absolutely love it here! The staff are lovely, the food is delicious, the quiz on a Tuesday with ALEX is legendary! I could not recommend it enough!!!

BEST PUB IN NOTTS Such a class pub, lovely staff, cracking food and such a nice atmosphere. Highlight is the quiz every Tuesday with Alex as Quiz master - £75 bar tab if you win!!! Lovely staff, lovely food, proper reasonable drinks deals, especially with all the deals they have on. Food is fab and caters for all dietary requirements - if you’re a vegan try the pizzas 👌🏼 Great student deals too - been coming since I’ve been at Uni and been coming every week since. Can’t recommend this pub enough xxxx

I feel incredibly sorry for the hard working staff at this place. They live in fear of head office who do not give them the support they need in the pub. A real shame as this venue was once a shining star for this area. Respect your staff so they can better serve your customers otherwise the customers won’t come back and the staff will leave

Worst thing about this pub is the service, staff are incredibly rude and clearly weren’t taught any manners. I’ve gone to this pub plenty of times and haven't once seen a hint of a smile on their faces. don’t want to give them the satisfaction of ordering anything. HOWEVER, the prices are decent. (Not as good as other local places)

Great pub and very helpful staff with a special mention going to Alex who not only cooked us tasty pizzas but sorted out a fiddly room booking too. We'll definitely be back.

Popped in for a pint before attending a gig at the Level. Good atmosphere, good selection of beers....on the down side, the gents toilets smelt absolutely terrible!!!

There was beer but it was decidedly average. Brewpoint's offerings are quite dull.

I have been visiting the playwright pub on and off for the past few years. I just wanted to say I'm very happy with the service and the warm welcome. I will now definitely be visiting more often. A special thanks to James and Megan for the impeccable service and making me feel at home.

I would like to point out James and Thomas who I spoke too during my visit, they did seem to have a very busy shift however still made me and our guests feel welcome and engaged. OK inner-city pub if you're desperate or interested in the "birthplace" of a soccer team. As there were no real beers on when I went & the menu was geared at poor students, I'd suggest it's one better left to the target clientele.

Visited Playwright last Saturday with my partner . Good selection of beers on tap got served quickly which was impressive given how busy the place was . We have ordered the special pizza , top quality and definitely great value compared to other establishments near by. Would definitely recommend!! Keep up the good work guys

This pub we stumbled upon. 😘pizza 2 for 1 on Monday and they were absolutely gorgeous, we took the rest back to the hotel with us ( pizza box provided) lively atmosphere, the staff were mega friendly , fully inclusive .we ll definitely be back .👋

The Playwight hosted our 60th Birthday party for my partner. The back rooms were lovely, they let us bring our music. The food we ordered was great and they brought it to us at the time we asked for, such a lot of food for them to produce for us. They took care to let us know which was the food for the people with food sensitivities. Service was great. We and our guests had a great time. Thank you so much for hosting us.

Really nice pub. Never too loud and rarely too crowded. The decor is cosy and warm, menu is varied and all dishes are very tasty including vegan options, and service is also excellent.

Skip the massaman curry. it’s just bits of veg with rice and barely any peanut-based sauce; what there was, i certainly wouldn’t call a sauce. A waste of money. Stick to the pizza menu, though even the one my friend had looked poor compared to how they used to be.

Lovely venue with lots of character! Cocktails really delicious roughly £8 each or 2 for £10 Mon-Thu. Had a lovely time.

Searching for a place for a family meal on Sunday, I found a review: probably the best pizza in Nottingham, so I chose this pub. I don't know if there is any better pizza in Nottingham, but the one we had here was excellent. My 5-year-old son finished his completely! Very friendly service and a pleasant, spacious, atmospheric interior where you can relax.

Love love love it here. Me and my partner always pop in for a drink and sometimes a bite to eat. Staff are always a pleasure to see and food and drinks are lovely. The staff have such a passion for this place and you will see why when you go. I put 20 to 30 pound per person that’s if you having food and a nice cocktail etc. but you could come in here for one or two it would be cheaper as well. Highly recommend!
