The plaice to be in Rotherham

It's a great diner! The place is strategic, only a few mins walk from Rotherham interchange and minster. The food tasted good and the portion was generous. It was also affordable. I ordered fish and chips and doner. The donner was amazing! The owner was also friendly and very kind :) I highly recommend this place!

A bit oversalted patty in burger, but fair price for a well-stuffed 1/4 pounder

Appalling service I place an order threw just eat then I they don't even confirm the order and say they can't notify just eat that they are not accepting the order!!! I now have to go without food as they refused to deliver to whiston in ROTHERHAM!!! EVEN AFTER PAYMENT WAS TAKEN I NOW HAVE TO WAIT 3-5 WORKING DAYS FOR THE MONEY BACK I don't recommend

The chip portions are very small... And twice they've been cold and of below average quality. The lady is very friendly.. I'd visit only just to see her... Please improve or I'll have to go elsewhere

Decent chippie in the centre of Rotherham. We ate in and there was a wait for food, as only two people were behind the counter, but I guess that's because it's a popular plaice. :-) Food was tasty and reasonably-priced. Staff were friendly and hard-working. Overall, an enjoyable lunch.

Didn't enjoy my chips from here, they were cold and soggy so I took them back and the owner's were shocked. The chips were a bit expensive for the portion size also. I certainly would not recommend this place nor would I go there again as there are way better chippys in South Yorkshire than this. Just sorry that I wasted my money here! A big disappointment to say the least.

Fantastic food with always friendly staff.... And now with a new updated menu.... Had homemade chilli sauce with my salad and it was hot hot hot sauce.... Excellent place and would highly recommend

Does a good chips, peas and scallop needed a quick collection meal as I was heading home from work quite tired so appreciated the quick service and not much conversation. Only con I say would be cans of pop are expensive don’t know where they source them but must be expensive for them as it’s £1.30 for one can no matter what you choose.

Came here a few days ago had a cheese burger meal deal food is delicious and the staff are very kind and polite would definitely recommend to someone who wants a nice big meal.

We visited a couple of weeks ago for Fish and Chips. These were cooked perfectly, light batter, lovely fish, 1 Haddock and 1 Cod, which melted in the mouth. Chips weren’t well cooked too. Loved it.

Ordered the mixed kebab at a cost of £12.50 definitely not worth the money rubbery, greasy kebab meat and very little for the price. Ordered mixed kebabs before from Anglo Saxons and must say it’s a lot better and cheaper. Think the shop needs to have a look at their prices. Will def not order again I will stick to the ones we know best. Thought we would give them a try but must say that was a mistake

I can't believe that I was considering going to McDonald's before walking past The Place To Be today. The staff were so warm, welcoming and willing to accommodate me. The food was amazing, tastey and delicious. If you don't believe me, just go and try it once. You'll be back... trust me.

Visited this Chippy whilst visiting Rotherham for the day. If you want to eat in, they have lots of tables. The couple who run the Chip Shop are really friendly and welcoming. The chips are really tasty, they could just be a bit more generous with the portions, then I would have given 5 stars.

Terrible avoid.The owner is always pushing you to buy something you don't want. of you don't. go in for a while. he interigates you asks. why you haven't been in.makes me feel uncomfortable will not go in again.

When I visited Rotherham I decided to go to a chip shop for something to eat.i decided to go to this one as the chips smelt good from outside.i decided to eat in.i ordered large chips.teacake.scraps and a can of pop.it only cost £3.I had to wait a while for the chips as they were fresh.it was worth the wait.the scraps were amazing.chips were nice and bread roll lovely and soft.highly recommend.staff were nice.lovely and clean inside.tgey also sell a wide range of other foods including hot and cold sandwiches.jacket potatoes.breakfasts.oap specials.kids meals and desserts.will definitely visit again

We nipped in here whilst passing and glad we did. By far and away the best quality fish and chips in Rotherham and on a par with some seaside places i've eaten such as Whitby and Brixton. On top of the chips being of such high quality the staff are fantastic. Whenever i'm in Rotherham i'd always look to come here as one of the places to visit if I needed a bite to eat as their menu is very varied and all freshly cooked to order.

Friendly staff and value for money great food and service

came in on my break, the gentleman who served me was very pleasant and interacted with the customers a lot i ordered a cheese salad sandwich and a latte, was nice food apart from the bread cake was dry as this is located in the centre of town I would expect the bread cakes to be soft and fresh, other than that i couldn't fault my visit.

We Visited here on Good Friday 2017. We visited as a party of 4 on a busy lunchtime as visitors to the area. We were warmly welcomed by staff and locals alike in a warm, cosy and friendly atmosphere. The service was rapid, with a smile and the food was extremely tasty at a fantastic price. This has to be the number 1 destination for any tourists in Rotherham. Excellent work from Ismael and the team 😁

We found this little gem on groupon , the food was excellent , nothing was too much trouble by the owners, they made us feel really welcome , real Yorkshire hospitality. Would really recommend this place.

Three of us found this place by chance on the way to a football match. Excellent food at a fair price. No extra charge for sitting inside. Very clean, good sized portions and the owners are friendly. Would definitely return if in the area.

Living near Grimsby, unarguably the home of the best Fish & Chips in the UK, I have very high expectations of Fish & Chip restaurants. I visited at lunchtime between appointments on the recommendation of a client and was very impressed.

Been here a few times and the food snd staff have always been great however the lady who served me for a take away order last week was so slow i nearly fell asleep watching her wrap 1 lot of chips but i will let her off this once as its always been good before

We have eaten many meals at the restaurant and the food is absolutely delicious. All the food, from a large varied menu, has been cooked from fresh and to perfection on every visit. Visited this friendly restaurant last week for the first time - it certainly won't be the last! I was so impressed by the welcome I received from the chef, his wife and Sarah. I also noticed that they made time to chat to all their customers in the same way. I thought I had tasted the best chips ever at my local chip shop - but I was wrong, these were second to none. I had the chicken grill which was freshly cooked and beautifully presented. I enjoyed every mouthful. This was followed by two huge scoops of ice cream with all the trimmings. I understand they are expanding the menu in the near future to include a dessert trolley. If this experience is anything to go by I can't wait! Thank you Angela and Nerjat for the wonderful meal

We were in Rotherham at the weekend for the Slamfest weekend, and called into this little cafe on our way to All Saints Square. We both had Fih and Chips which were excellent, and freshly cooked. the staff in there were very friendly, and we shall certainly return when in Rotherham.

My family and I had a wonderful meal today at "The Plaice To Be!" The food was cooked to perfection; It offered a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff couldn’t do enough to help you. I’d defiantly recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. It’s great value for money, Wonderful menu to choose from, clean and welcoming! What more could you ask for.

Called in on a day out to Rotherham. Impressed as soon as we walked in by how clean everything looked. Everything was freshly cooked and really well presented. We were surprised by the size of the portions and the food was so tasty. Being a fussy eater I seldom recommend food venues but this time have no hesitation in saying you will not be disappointed so give it a try.

Needed the toilet stopped outside went in and was made most welcome by the owner. The food was just what you expected but well cooked and very robust portions. But the main thing was the superb welcome no wonder it got an award recently it was cheaper than the nearby MacDonalds

Good quality fish beautifully cooked in a light golden batter with a good cup of tea, feels like you are at the seaside. Pleasant decor and quiet music, easy listening and nothing to spoil your appetite. Try it and you will want to come back for more!
