half my order was missing to the value of £16.90 just eat gives credit of £13.45 :(

Had a meal here last Friday with six family members, the food was terrific and the atmosphere was very peaceful, all the staff are so helpful and accommodating as we were late due to people being delayed travelling from Scotland, thank you for a lovely evening.

The order arrived quickly but the fish didn’t taste right the small amount in the batter was hard and rubbery, the chips were ok

Paid £18.20 for two fish bits with large sausage meals and didn’t get the battered sausage with the meal so paid £9.10 each for a few chips and 3 little fish bites

fish was overcooked, so the batter was chewy and the fish thin, and the chips were not great. the curry sauce and sausage was nice. doubt I will order from here again- it has not improved.

Ist time using £23 cod n chips twice 1 x peas nice chips ...both fish dry as old bones all batter very little fish existence see photos possible the worse I've ever had!

Under new management from July 2024. So take old reviews with a literal pinch of salt. It became pretty dire, so fingers crossed for a return to glory. The BEST Fish n Chip restaurant to be found. Had something from the new menu, and it was amazing. This place consistently beats Whitby's by a country mile every time.

This restaurant was the best fish and chips in the area but the change of ownership was the end of that. Several dishes on the menu were not available, the cook called out to us because there were 8 of us and had not reserved (the restaurant was empty), the service was terrible... nothing good, move on

When ordering was quoted 20 mins, delivery was over 1 hour. Chips were stale and over cooked and one fish was inedible. Worst meal I’ve had from here.

This used to be the best fish and chip shop around, the last 3 times we have had fish and chips from here they have been dreadful, had 2 fish last night, one haddock and one cod, they were luke warm and inedible, soggy batter, and the fish so thin, dreadful, shan’t be going again

Never had such a bad experience in my life,went on Thursday the 6th June 5.30pm(only three people in the restaurant ),party of 7,there was a young man on his own and his first day,who really didn’t know what he was doing bless him (he really tried)but that wasn’t just the problem,when we arrived there was no brown bread/ice or tonic,ran out of madrii after two then bread altogether,over two hours we were in there not having any starters or any puddings with all the waiting/wrong orders ect.everyone of us had been before and loved it but non of us would go back again now.the poor woman running the takeaway downstairs was also run off her feet after being left with a young girl who was running up and down stairs to help both,the phone was also constantly ringing and not once was answered,the business must be loosing loads of customers.

Excellent food been many times for fish and chips never been disappointed Will continue to do our 10 mile round trip to get our fix. Update: 2 years from writing this review. We don't go anymore, it changed ownership and quality is no where near the same.

Don't know if it's changed hands but the portions are ridiculously small....just a drizzle of gravy instead of the standard pot. The prices have jumped up massively and the quality has dropped. They seem to be rinsing every penny of profit without offering value for money. Agree with previous comment...chips are rock hard and anaemic. Won't be revisiting

Lovely freshly cooked fish and chips will be going back very soon

Haven't been here in a while - got takeaway haddock and chips. Undoubtedly the worst fish & chips I have ever had. Mountains of chips, not crisp and not tasty. Regular haddock was small and again the batter wasn't crisp at all. I won't be going again. Shame - it used to be great.

On Friday 10th May, went in ordered 3 large fish and 2 large chips, 1 small battered sausage and 2 mushy peas £39.50- fish was excellent! Cooked fresh, superb! Chips however dreadful, undercooked, tried to improve them in the oven..none of my family liked them..not crispy, not fluffy, canteen style chip, really disappointing, sorry, gotta get your product right for that type of money won’t be visiting for a while..

Awful chips, not very warm and chewy, also full of eyes, aren’t you supposed to get these out when peeling your spuds. Possibly the chips had been cooked and left in the not so warm drainer.

Cannot believe fish and chips £16.95 absolute robbery. What for the food was average. I personally would avoid disgusting how they can charge so much for junk food.

Not visited here for a while but can’t believe show nice the fish and chips were. Very clean surroundings lovely staff they do a £10 special with fish chips side bread and butter and tea or coffee. Who could ask for anything more thank that. I would definitely recommend.

Food was cold took too long to even assign a driver then the gravy was ontop of the food so just meant cold and soggy chips. Rubbish

Chips very very dry, halloumi very overpriced for 5 thin “slices”. Only nice bit was the battered sausage! Threw the rest away.

Really poor standard for the cost! Ordered a regular fish and chips and what was delivered can only be described as a child’s portion

everything in order was disgusting all products were dried out. batter on fish soggy and fish was very dry even to point was stiffening around edges. only edible items were the breadcakes. not somewhere I would order from ever again and overpriced for quality of food

The pie was rock hard and dry, the battered sausages were over cooked, so so sad this chipshop is atrocious now when it was XL it was the best chipshop so sad to see it quiet and the food so poor.

I’m sorry but the food was absolutely disgusting we ordered cod and chips, one fish looked like it had been steam rolled over and the fish was anything but fresh had nicer from the supermarket, the chips were stale and anaemic how can a fish and chip shop that’s been going for this long get it so wrong we ordered at tea time so could understand if we’d ordered before closing time. At £10 for one fish (not including chips) it’s not good enough come on do better!

Food is awful. Fish was not fresh and for nearly £10 for a piece of cod it’s an absolute rip off for what we were sent. Don’t mind paying for good quality food but this was disgusting. Chips were undercooked and tasted bad too. Previously had meals from here but will not be returning. Shocking value for shocking food.

Received undercooked sausage and chicken nuggets. Chips were dry and scrap ends. We should have received a fish cake but got a risle.

Called in 17th Feb around 18:25. Stood in the queue, took one look at the small, dry, scabby looking fish they had waiting and went somewhere else.

I wouldn't have given it away, let alone charge for it. The worst takeaway experience of my 67 years!! A terrible waste of money and they should be ashamed of themselves in this financial climate. I'd also bought some for my daughter. To say we were disappointed is an understatement.

My new hate generally is been spoke to aggressively or shouted at . This place customer service is 0 'what u wanting ' like in the most pissed off manner ever !! If you don't want to serve people in a nice manner ! Go work were you don't have to deal face to face ! Whilst serving shouting at pick up drivers what number ! What number ? Jezzzz felt like Please may I order without feelin like am asking for a kidney . Then there's salting the meal but am not tryin to conduct a Séance and bring back the dead . Cold and entirely the wrong order. Ordered fish, chips and curry with shandy and received a cold chips covered in a mushy pea skin with a sausage pushed into the mush with a separate fishcake and a tango. For these prices much more care should be given to the quality and accuracy of the service. Never again.

I ordered a large cod priced over £9.00. The one I received was smaller than one previously delivered on small fish meal deal. The service has deteriorated so much recently that I don't think I will be ordering again. I am so disappointed.

Very disappointed, fish wasn't good and 70% batter, had fish and chips from there about 8 months ago and was very disappointed, thought I'd try it again but I won't be going again, Feel like I've just thrown over £20 in the bin

Hit and miss, had 3 meala here as take out, 1st one disappointing, 2nd one lovely and 3rd on not nice, i bought a sausage in batter and it had that old oil taste to it, that said its not bad either just think some minor improvements could be made to make it a good chippy, it wasnt cheap but then chippies dont seem to be anymore

We’ve made you aware that we were not happy with this order and we’ve been ignored. Either the wording on the menu is misleading or the app is badly programmed. When we clicked the big button that clearly says “Fish & Chips, Large Cod, £9.75” then pay using ApplePay you don’t get chips! We feel like we have been ripped off and then ignored. Will spend like leaving appropriate reviews everywhere to try and protect other users from falling for the same con-trick.

Tasty chips and crispy batter. Peas were a slightly odd vibrant green.

There's clearly somebody in the chippy who doesn't bother to read the order that's been submitted: Two portions of scampi were ordered, and paid for, only one came. Two cans of Dandelion & Burdock were ordered. Yet two cans of Coca Cola arrived. Poor, poor service.

The fish was ok but expensive, the chips were poor, small dried up and not very hot and what is called a fishcake was a rissole in breadcrumbs not two slices of potato with fish inside battered as we know it in South yorkshire.

Doner meat very dry, hardly put any curry sauce on our chips. We hate wasting food but this had to be done from this place.

Went here last week an hour before closing, was waved at to my car to go away as no food, went today weds lunch time, chips were hard and like scraps, worse chips I’ve had , ever! I will never return! Never use to be like this here !

Used to be arguably the best chippy in town. On the evidence of our food, it's gone downhill fast. Some chips were tough and chewy, others not quite cooked long enough. However, the fish (regular haddock) was good and the portion sizes were as stated (regular really is enough for two). Overall a bit disappointed . Definitely better out there.

Well. What a proper nice chippy. They sell a wide variety of tasty Kebabs, I had a chicken mixed kebabs. Absolutely delicious. Well done to the hard working staff here.

Love this place. Some recent menu changes since I last came but as goodnas ever. Always hot. Expressed a preference towards card over cash which I found odd. Thankfully they DO still accept cash though or I'd have been up the creek

Fish still had the skin on it which put me off straight away. Tried to eat around it but the fish tasted weird. No flavour to the peas. Bit of a waste really. Driver argued with me over the address. Its a newly opened apartment block.

These were the worst fish and chips we have ever had, cold and undercooked do not waste your money plenty of local chippies much better. This used to be a good ecperience take away do mot know whst has gone wrong. Sorry Seven Seas
