Since new owners this food has gone downhill chips are terrible worst chippy av seen

Bought fish and chips tonight 09/08/22 and was very disappointed with the quality of the chips. Some had black spots in them some were little and overcooked and unedible. Have tried to support local businesses but feel very let down with the poor quality from this chippy. Will not be visiting this chippy again ever.

Owner, staff and drivers are brilliant but they are not has good has the food otherwise I'd eat them instead of the food the food is awesome just the way I like it keep up the good food and your humour

What can I say my husband and I visited to grab lunch as I work very long hours for a charity and don't get much time, as we stood in the que we saw a gent in his 30s with curly short hair eating fishcake chips and curry stood behind the counter whilst serving... I felt shocked as my husband is a cancer patient and as you can understand at this current time we are extra cautious because of his vuanrability, this lovely gent then went to go on to make a battered chip butti with curry. He made the meal then squished it down onto the food surface with his hand and then to my amazement he put it into the batter to which the fish was dipped.... I was really embarrassed my husband left the shop and sat in the car . Politely I ordered a pork gyros just so I wasn't looking silly, I know I could have complained then but id been up most of the night with husband on treatment and then work I just cudnt take any complications I needed to get home and look after my hubby before anyone questions me. My gyros was very disappointing cold greek bread and was told no tazikki not that I would have eaten. Wow I'm amazed in current situation aswell anyone could disregard people's health and safety my husband a d I for one will not be returning. Only good thing the lady serving us I think her name was Abbey was fantastic

Asked for chicken tikka meat, was told to wait 10 minutes, waited then asked when it would be ready, I was told they didn't have any even though I specifically asked for chicken tikka Had to go elsewhere

Just eaten the garlic nan kebab it was beautiful as usual all made fresh in front of you with fresh salad and a pot of sauce of your choice. Fantastic guys cheers.

Ordered online for delivery as we normally do, we had seen posts that the previous day had been busy but everything was back to normal. We ordered mid afternoon for teatime delivery around 6!oclock. Our order arrived on time but the ordered chicken box arrived without the ordered salad, I ordered a Fish scallop but got two rissoles, okay if you like rissoles! It’s not okay to put alternatives in if you haven’t got what’s ordered, it’s like the option of just Chuck anything in to make the order up to the price the customer has paid as we don’t have an option when you are delivering. Well below standard west Melton won’t be ordering again we will go elsewhere. Careful you don’t depend on your regulars as like us they may go elsewhere. Look after customers!

This is the best chippy around for miles. I always have fish and chips and the fish is always white and fresh. My other half loves the kebabs which are huge and really good value. Can’t go wrong!

Melton Fish Bar is quite easily the best chippy in the area, we've visited others in the past and they aren't a patch on this one, so this is the only place we go these days. The fish is always fresh and a decent size, in fact a large fish and chips will easily feed two people. The kebabs are great too with three options available, the usual doner meat and two types of chicken, I'd recommend getting the mixed so you get all three. They also do amazing Gyros, again with a choice of meats - do yourself a favour and get some halloumi in there too, you won't be disappointed! There's also pork ones available at weekends. Don't let lockdown put you off either, deliver is available but get your orders in early as the slots get booked up quickly, which shows how popular this place is. In short, delicious food, reasonable prices, friendly staff and the option to have your order delivered to your door - I'd definitely recommend a visit/order

It's not our nearest chippy but it is our favourite! The kids love a bit of fish, and me and the other half share the mixed kebab as there's plenty.

This is a fabulous chippy takeaway food cooked fresh in dripping yum and amazing quality and value for your money weve never been disappointed. From the jumbo fish specials oh these are do fab and Zacs mushy peas to fresh haddock gorgeous like the seaside,fish bites are fab.spolit fir choice. Delivery is great too and food is always piping hot when we get it.we never go anywhere else. Very quick online orders placed through their app or over the phone. I highly recommend it. And they help the school children in the holidays with free meals how beautiful and caring is that. Zacs team follow covid rules to keep everyone safe. its spotless. Regular videos posted on their Facebook page so we can see the foid being cooked,and they work so hard to cook the foid get it ready for walk in customers and deliveries. Cant wait for next dinner . We dont have chippy dinner often but when we do it as to be melton chippy ,we have tried all others in area and cant bear them.We had fish pieces chips and another fish chips and they where lovely .Fish was white and batter cooked just right .Will deffo be back .And staff are always very good .

Ordered here online originally for delivery as it says “free delivery” it’s only until you click the small button underneath or when you checkout you see that it’s only free on Mondays. I collected the order and i am very impressed. Staff all very friendly, even though it was busy they still made feel welcome and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the garlic naan with the Donna meat and chicken. Thanks again will 100% be back.

Total shambles, had to wait ten mins because no chips and then when my turn came told me I couldn’t have a mixed kebab despite three large spits of meat spinning in front of me and a lady stripping meat from each one. It is pot luck for me when this place is open as been three times over last few weeks and shut. Save your time & money and go somewhere more reliable

Best chippy I've been to in a while, lisa was an absolute star, friendly, funny and helpful. The food was great too, really good donner meat, not full of fat like some places. Beef driping chips were great as well! Highly recommend

I give up with this chippy ... went round today and its closed at 6.30pm ... cant figure out the times of this place it opens and closes as it feels like it ... food not bad but opening hours are shocking and very very unreliable ... if you do come here it will be pot luck whether it's open or not ... so good luck on that one

Special meal deals ok . But llarge cod was as thin as cardboard and batter was teeth breaking rock hard . Plus the large fish was grey not white ...overall not for me

This might be the best chippy in the area although sadly there's not much competition in Wath. But the prices, fish special has gone from £4.20 to £3.50 to £4.60 all in a couple of months, still decent value just not as good as previously, may have gone down again by next week though! Opening hours have also been cut. Staff still friendly.

I ordered a small fish, chips and curry sauce which was £5.80. I am partially sighted so can't see menu or price lists but was shocked at the price. When I got home the food was piping hot, great start for me as I can't stand just warm food. However, the chips were disgusting and I didn't eat them. The fish was not much better, it was almost like it had been frozen and not fresh. The curry sauce was ok but in my opinion it was a poor experience with the food. The staff however were friendly.

Went to this chippy a couple of weeks ago it has really gone downhill since last visit. The chips were cold and soggy or hard. I was also put off to see the person cooking the food lifting food from the frier and picking sausages. Fish and chips from the same basket. As a vegitarian I want chips that have not been cooked in same pan as fish and meat.really off-putting. As well as it being cross contamination. Will not go to this shop again.

Zac the owner has really taken the chippy forward since he’s had it over the past year. Decent portion sizes, great homemade fish cakes and it can all be cooked to order! I go at least once a week as a treat on a Friday.

I absolutely love this place. The food is always good quality, no matter what time you go the food is always exceptional. Nice big portions, great value for money. And what makes this place even better is the staff. So friendly, always giving out samples of there new products. I cannot fault the place. And now they do home delivery. What more can you ask for. 10/10

Sorry to do this but this chippy has really gone down the pan. Last year it was revamped and fabulous, fab fresh fish, hot fresh everything and super staff. I dont know what has happened this year but it has got steadily worse, tonight we popped in just for chips for a butty for tea. This was about 8pm, got them home and they were pretty grim. Clearly had been sitting around keeping warm. I really hope this is just a blip but will not be risking this chippy again.

Pretty much your modern fish bar with long opening hours and serving fish and chips and kebabs,They do do a few different things though, selling chicken curry and pork gyros (Friday and Saturday only for the gyros I think),Chips are good, fish is average.

My friend who is transgendered, was about to give her order and was told by the young women behind the counter "Never seen a man dressed as a women before!", she was very upset and went to a friendly chippy. She was ordering for 5 of us, we won't be back again and neither will all her friends.

I don't normally bother to write a review unless it deserves one, and on this occasion I feel I have to. ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!!! The service was brilliant and the fish and chips were beautiful. The chips were the best I have tasted for ages, as for the Cod it was proper Cod and huge. The batter was delicious and crisp and the Curry Sauce was full of flavour not too hot. Nice and mild. I have travelled up from Surrey and the next time I stay in Wath I will have Fish & Chips and head for Melton Fish Bar.

The portions of fish are small for what you pay Albeit the fish and chips are tasty as are the peas, £12 for a medium fish and chips is a bit pricey when the fish isn't much bigger than the size of a scientific calculator

Muy limpio en el interior y algunas buenas ofertas especiales como otros han dicho . pedí la pescado especial y salchichas patatas y guisantes todo bien caliente, tamaño de la porción buena, que servían por gente muy simpática volveremos

Since this shop reopened with its fresh new look we have visitid a few times and the food is delicious. Much better than before, much cleaner and much fresher tasting. The staff are super and the fish delicious, so nice to have fish that is tasty and chips that are not greasy. The mushy peas are delicious too, make sure you call first to make sure there is a freshly cooked pie, the ones warmed up go soggy and rubbery.

Really love that the fish is cooked to order when you enter so not been overcooked in a glass case. Always good size portions and tasty too.
