The Place in Kingston upon Thames

The Place consistently features the best flat white and grilled ham and cheese croissant not only in New Malden High Street but in the wider Kingston/Raynes Park area. Rarely for a modest cafe the cheese in the croissant actually tastes of cheese. Choi and her assistants provide an unhurried but friendly and efficient service. They unfailingly serve my coffee at the required temperature. I have frequented The Place for three years and if the current gold standard is maintained, I will continue to visit two or three times a week.

Great coffee — they use Monmouth. Very consistent, I’ve been going for a couple of years. Lovely food & staff are friendly.

Terrible - didn’t know the difference between a latte and cappuccino and then tried to say it’s because they’d run out of milk… no clue about making coffee! Avoid for hot drinks/service!

Great coffee, food and service with lovely cosy atmosphere - great to support a local place. Would recommend.

Typical Korean service. No smiles or pleasntries just stare at you until you say what you want. Also closes early and will hurry you to finish your drink.

My favourite coffee shop in New Malden. Honeybread and green tea cake are highlights. The citrus teas are delicious-fantastic cold remedy as well. Nice atmosphere.

The coffee is so smooth and the croissant delicious, definitely my favourite cafe for coffee. The atmosphere is interesting relaxed but seats looking a bit tired now

I went here with my child and the staff made it very clear they wanted me to leave as my child was making abit of noise. Will never be coming here again.

I find the food options a little limited here, but the coffee is excellent! I'm a bit of a coffee snob and I can't fault it here - even the decaf coffee as I'm pregnant. Decor could be a little friendlier, and the buzzer system is a little odd for such a small place, but... the coffee!

Very friendly staff, good quality of food and coffee. I've been studying here for an exam for the last couple of weeks and staying for pretty much the whole day and they haven't given me any issues. Great service and highly recommend.

This cafe has such a cosy atmosphere with really relaxing wooden interior. It also has a great selection of coffees, teas, cakes and other treats. It is such a great place to chat with friends and family, or concentrate on your work!! I really enjoy coming here when I'm around New Malden!!

I love this cafe and I would go everyday if I could! It’s really peaceful, cosy, and both the food and drinks are amazing. There are homemade cakes and the coffee tastes really good. People are saying it’s over priced but in reality the size of the coffee is actually bigger than most other coffee shops. 150% recommend!!!

Definitely worth a visit. However, the waiting time is a bit long. The cafe is nicely decorated. Cakes are a bit over-priced

When I came in here at Christmas I would have happily give this place a 5 star. This time however, we got a rather grumpy reception. I discovered that despite a very large toilet and plenty of space for a baby change unit, there isn't one. After using the toilet, I realised that the seat is much too small for the toilet itself and as a result my legs were covered in the wee on the toilet below the small seat 😫 Also no loo roll!Came out to a nice latte and my friend enjoyed her food and drink so the 3 stars are very much for the food and drink rather than the staff and toilet. I'll probably give it a miss next time.

The Place had delicious coffee and is a really nice independent coffee shop. They had a good range of cake on offer. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I would recommend it over a big coffee chain any day!

Whilst waiting for my wife and daughter to have a hair cut over the road, I came in here for a coffee mainly due to its proximity to the hair dresser. What a pleasant surprise it was. A friendly cosy interior, well maintained and really nice to sit in and enjoy a coffee. Coffee itself was decent too (4 out of 5 - I've had better, but nicer than many). When my young daughter joined me, she had a nice babycino and marshmallow too which put a big smile on her face. Next time the ladies get their hair done, no question, this is where I'll wait!

We stopped in for tea & coffee. I asked for Chai tea, a latte, and 1 simple coffee. I never got the coffee. We had 2 pastries which were delicious. I was paying with credit card from the States and cashier got a little rude about not wanting payment that requires a signature. Told me next time to bring correct form of payment (I didn't tell her there wouldn't be a "next" time).

Pararon a tomar un café con hielo, que era preciosa. Buen servicio y una muy buena ubicación en la calle alta. Había una gran variedad de tartas y pasteles, que parecía agradable. Realmente me gustó el interior - un montón de lindos detalles. También me encantó cómo no estaba tan concurrido como el de otras tiendas de café.

El café es un buen lugar para parar cuando quieres relajarte y disfrutar de una taza de café. Su selección de café es muy bueno. También me gustó la tarta tiramisú. No es demasiado dulce y que sin duda puedes probar el delicioso café.

Solía ser genial pero he decirles cosas antideslizante. Mi café sabía quemada y tuve que pedir otra. No parece que se preocupan por sus clientes. Creo que hace bien por su ubicación y no por su calidad.

Una agradable cafetería, no había mucha variedad en la comida pero no pasteles frente buena y café. Un lugar popular con madres locales. Limpio, agradable y un buen ambiente. Puede tomar un tiempo para bebidas cuando muy ocupados, pero te dan un zumbador así puede sentarse hasta que estén listos.

Vinimos aquí para el brunch, ya que es uno de los pocos cafés en cadena no New Malden y estamos muy contentos de haberlo hecho! El ambiente era muy relajado y el lugar estaba bastante concurrido, tanto con la gente que trabaja (hay wi-fi) y...

Absolutamente encanta ir a este lugar. El café es excelente y el precio razonable teniendo en cuenta que sabe mejor que algunos lugares en Londres. Las tartas cubierto bajo una sábana de plástico, que es una gran ventaja para mí. La música no es demasiado...

Dropped in for a coffee with a friend. This coffee shop is bigger than it looks from outside. Their ginger cookies are yummy and they have the usual selection of coffees. The place felt quite comfortable and relaxing :-) Had meant to visit for a while and it's a shame if is closed on Sundays.

The coffee tastes amazing and the cakes are delicious! It has a very relaxed feel - a great place to hang out.

I regularly visit the Place, for breakfast, lunch or as a convenient meeting point for meeting with local figures. A very pleasant ambience, with good food and drink, and very pleasant staff. Will definitely be returning.

We have become regulars at The Place. It has very good coffee, tasty food, friendly staff and free WiFi - what's not to like!

I liked the Mammoth coffee which they served. The Cakes are wonderful which I was unable to find elsewhere in London. I especially love the chestnut and green tea cakes. The atmosphere is cosy not so busy and their staff very friendly. Always Drop by when in New Malden.

Found this the other day when returning for a visit to New Malden, where I used to live. Staff friendly, and you get a buzzer to tell you when the food is ready, then go & collect. Window seats to watch the world go by. I had a cream tea -small jam & cream portions, and the chocolate & orange cake was pretty tasteless. Perhaps it was the end of a hot day?

Very friendly staff. Cappuccino very good quality. Atmosphere nice. Would return when in New Malden. Only negative point: free wifi is advertised at the window, but when I asked for it, it costed 4 pounds and I was told that it would be free tomorrow again...

Love going to this place for lunch. Must try their greentea cake. On occassion, they have sweet potato cake as well! Just wish they put abit more side salad or have more options for lunch. Decor is modern but very cosy feels like a bookshop, very nice and relaxing even if it is only for 1 hour during lunch!

My husband & I had a coffee each and shared a slice of green tea cake. Cake was amazing and coffee great too. Ladies were very friendly and served us quickly, giving us a buzzer so we could sit down whilst we waited for drinks to be ready. Very calm atmosphere and somewhere to relax on a wet afternoon in New Malden.

Nice independent coffee shop. Service is great, as is the Monmouth coffee. Only downside, it Can be noisy at times.

A new coffee shop on New Malden High St, serving very good Monmouth coffee, and some lovely cakes. The star were friendly and welcoming. Free wifi, comfortable seating. Definitely worth popping in if you are in this area.

I often stop here for coffee and a snack as the coffee is monmouth coffee and is very smooth and refreshing, I would say its the best coffee shop in new malden, the staff are friendly and helpful

The Place is simply the best Coffee Shop in New Malden. No question. The staff are so friendly, and provide such great service - it's great to know that you're supporting small business as well when you are having a drink/bite to eat in the Place.The food and drink is superb, and the atmosphere is excellent. The music playing in the background is particularly appropriate, and very relaxing - exactly how a coffee shop should be.Well worth a visit.
