Great staff and nice relaxing atmosphere. The food is perfect for a breakfast / lunch snack as opposed to a huge meal.

Popping in with a friend for a light lunch, we enjoyed tasty ham and cheese with chutney toasted on our choice of chiabatta or rye bread. They supply table water with a herbal garnish and I followed this afterwards with a light apple pastry and coffee. Its certainly a vertically integrated set-up, the service and preparation coming from the same folks behind the till and the atmosphere is a happy mix of intimate and busy. The food was delicious, portions adequate and it was inexpensive. How does this work ? A traditional classy neighbourhood coffee bar ( he says typing this in Cafe Nero ) as one rarely finds nowadays. I chose to stick around after eating and got my laptop out. Very happy on the laptop after a super light lunch. Can't speak too highly of The Place - will make this my Canonbury default setting when I next have lunch with the same friend.

most importantly the coffee is epic, best in Islington. It's a great location, lovely place. The food is exceptionally good. Their onion ciabatta my favourite. Child and dog friendly. Nice outside space at front and back.

Was once a really grotty old fashioned pub but now a great trendy gastro type pub. Good choice of ales, wines and great food. We organised a social event for staff here and they laid out the table for 18 people and were really good at informing us when our tab was near to full. Friendly staff and easily accessible for most transport routes.

Whilst London is not quite as coffee-deprived as a few years ago, The Place is a shining light when it comes to providing the authentic coffee experience. My preferences for rich coffee flavours, smooth crema and not-too-hot milk are well provided for. This is a smallish, local coffee shop, with small selections of quality pastries and healthy light-lunch options, and is seemingly equally popular with take-away and leisurely drink-in customers. I first visited The Place 12 months ago, soon after it opened, and was delighted to find an unpretentious jewel - nothing has changed my view! Highly recommended for Islington locals and visitors.

This cafe was packed when we visited and full of local people. The coffee was good and there was a limited menu. The food had a home-cooked feel to it and was tasty, but nothing special. The staff were attentive and very friendly and I'm sure we'll be visiting again.

Great spot just by the canal, love it here, it’s a good place to watch the big sports events- they don’t Show Premier league But it gets Super lively for the 6nations Rugby and international Football - theres an excellent and very friendly pub cat and the Sunday roast absolutely bangs. Queer friendly and a lovely welcoming Team. Absolutely adore this Place, it’s where the locals in the area drink which tells you everything you need to know. Big ups the Rosie family ♥️

Very friendly cafe, almost next to King's Cross Station. Went to stoke up before a long train journey and had a large full English, with much better quality bacon and sausage than usual in these kind of cafes, great coffee and excellent freshly squeezed orange juice. Total cost £11.45 - excellent!

Perfect food every time I go, love the carrot cake and latte! Have also had lunch there with the wraps - tasty. Spacious and lots of room for the kids.

We were so excited to go here, judging by the lovely photos on the professional looking website. Well, that's obviously were all the money was spent! This place is the opposite of the photos: brown, drab and musty. No atmosphere. They serve Japanese prosecco, which was disgusting. We left before finishing our drinks and went to one of the many other options in the area and had a great time - in the end. Really, don't bother.
