We were so excited to go here, judging by the lovely photos on the professional looking website. Well, that's obviously were all the money was spent! This place is the opposite of the photos: brown, drab and musty. No atmosphere. They serve Japanese prosecco, which was disgusting. We left before finishing our drinks and went to one of the many other options in the area and had a great time - in the end. Really, don't bother.

El bar estaba muy lleno y el servicio era lento y no tan genial. Un miembro del personal era particularmente desagradable, malhumorado y triste y nos dio el sucio. Puedo entender que cuando está lleno, puede ser un trabajo muy estresante, pero al menos sonreír y mostrar cierto interés en el hecho de que somos clientes que están pagando dinero para disfrutar de nosotros mismos. En general, el ambiente no era muy amable y no volveré de nuevo.

I booked Grand Union Farringdon for a large group of friends one Saturday for the pizza and bottomless prosecco deal for £25pp, which seemed excellent value. A couple of weeks before our booking, we were relocated to the Chancery Lane venue due to a double booking, which we agreed to. Around half an hour before our table, I received a phone call to say that the extractor fans had broken and there was no way that they could cook, so we were asked to move to 'Trade Union', a sister venue in Wapping. I was promised over the phone the same menu plus a discount for the inconvenience. Understandably, this was nobody's fault so we agreed to move. After trapsing across London in the cold and the rain, we arrived to the sister venue in Wapping (which was in the middle of nowhere) only to be told that they had not been informed of any such discount and that we would have to pay full price for our food and drinks and that no bottomless prosecco deal existed. This meant that our bill would be even more expensive than in the original restaurant. It took half an hour of negotiations and phone calls to the manager of the original venue to get the manager of the Wapping branch to agree to give us the unlimited prosecco and pizza deal, as originally promised, but we did not receive any discount for the inconvenience. Following this disaster, I complained via e mail and received a £70 voucher for Grand Union Farringdon branch, so I returned here a few weeks later with some friends. The voucher was recognised and the service was much better, although I did have to get up and request my own drinks when we were eating- there did not seem to be any waiters or waitresses available to help. We were also not provided with any cutlery or condiments. The food was very nice but unfortunately the entire experience has put me off of ever recommending Grand Union to anyone again.

La mayoría de la comida llegó fría, hamburguesas y patatas fritas. Algunas de la orden también fue deshecha a pesar de el lugar no estaba muy lleno. El especial de chorizo burger era simplemente una hamburguesa con una porción de lo que parecía más barato Sainsbury's chorizo. La hamburguesa de carne parecía extremadamente barato y de baja calidad. Fue más allá de decepcionante.

It is just a couple of minutes away from Farringdon station. The venue has two floors and it is usually packed and with a great atmosphere, especially in the weekends. We went on a Friday, and they had 2-4-1 in cocktails and in the 18 inches pizzas, which was handy. They drinks menu is quite good and the food is decent. It is a good place to go, my advice would be to book a table because it can get really busy.

Great evening on Saturday for our Friends do, Steve our waiter was really helpful and can recommend the prosecco and pizza deal :) Great Fun.

El 18 de junio me realizó una función privada en el Grand Union y fue todo y más. El gerente de eventos (Charlotte) y había estado escribiendo y volver por un par de meses antes del evento y fue siempre muy rápido con una respuesta y dispuestos a ayudar. . . . Incluso teniendo en cuenta un DJ! ! Yo y mi equipo incluso vino en unas pocas bebidas y comida antes de nuestro evento y la comida era estupenda, muy buenos precios y happy hour es el! ! El personal era servicial y nada era demasiado. Las bebidas eran un muy buen precio. En general el ambiente era increíble y sin duda recomendaría su servicio.

Hicimos una reserva de grupo para c. 25 personas para la cena y bebidas después de un evento de trabajo en una noche entre semana. Tuvimos una bonita zona en varias tablas cerca del bar de arriba. El personal del Grand Union era muy amable y servicial. Había algo de confusión sobre el orden de la comida y bebidas (que no era su culpa, pero la nuestra) y el personal era muy paciente y flexible para ayudarnos a solucionar. La comida llegó rápidamente y todos disfrutamos. Me gustaría dar las gracias al personal por la noche del 31 de mayo en la calle para efectuar todo saliese bien! ! !

Unfortunately Isn't one of the best; but, if you go with friends I am sure you will get some fun there. The staff and cleaning are far away of you I had hoped to found there. Music is a mix of new and trendy house music with influence of indie rock.

Had an amazing time @ Grand Union in Farringdon. After-work drinks with a great crowd ... bar staff were awesome. Friendly, enthusiastic, great atmosphere ... some Tom Cruise style "Cocktail" performances behind the bar to spice things up. And a special mention to Emily, who was exceptional with us all night. She was awesome, looking after our party, advising us on cocktails and other drinks, and was very friendly and welcoming. We couldn't have been in better hands.We've been there before and will keep on going back. Highly recommended

Really pleased that we found this bar or our sales drinks. The staff were accommodating and very patient with us as we were a large group who all wanted different drinks and cocktails! Food was pretty good although a little slow to come out, we had sharing platters between us which was ideal for a big group. Nice atmosphere in the bar upstairs and convenient for the station. Came in last Friday with a couple of friends - we'd booked to have the 'Burgers and Bubbles' deal, and were expecting to have a couple of glasses poured when we could get the server's attention. This wasn't the case - our server, Emily, was fantastic - very attentive and leaving us with the bottle, quickly replacing it whenever we asked. The deal was incredibly value and we'd recommend it to everyone! Emily was wonderful, very friendly, chatty, quick, and attentive. Will definitely be returning!

Visited here for the first time for a private hire event. The staff were fantastic; cheerful, efficient and fun. The venue was clean including the loos (very important!) and the decor added to the ambience. All of these factors went a long way towards making the evening as special as it was. Yes the drinks are pricey but probably comparable for the general area. Would be more than happy to have another night out here.

Attended a private hire event in the downstairs area. The staff were friendly, the drinks were flowing, the place was clean (including toilets) and there was a nice atmosphere between the staff and our group of ladies. The Manager Tom was on the ball, was mingling with staff and guests while checking in on Security making sure the place was running smoothly. He even had time for a little dance. The staff along would make us book and come again! Very well done to Tom and his team, we thoroughly enjoyed our night!

I booked the basement bar at Grand Union for an informal, corporate event of around 80 people. We were a little late booking, but everything was made very easy by Caleb, Max and the management team, with pre-orders, advice over quantities of food and drinks etc. On the night, the space was perfect for the event. Enough space to not feel on top of each other and equally it didn't feel like the place was half empty. The space lends itself well to a private event like this and I have had multiple comments around how great the venue was. The food was excellent (and the quantities about right given the advice we had around the pre-order). The real stand out for me for this venue was the staff. Really friendly - genuinely so, helpful and informative through the night (keeping me up-to-date with spend / food service / status of pre-order drinks etc.) and professional. It was clear that they wanted to be there through the fabulous services that they provided through the night. I'd not hesitate to go back.

Had a great night out here. Reviewing more as a bar than a restaurant (although the foods good!) and the drinks were excellently made with smiles all round from staff. DJ Stace was brilliant - got everyone dancing, KEPT everyone dancing all night and made the evening with his set. Will definitely be going back!!!

Went here with some friends for dinner midweek, the place has a very fun vibe with a fun cocktail list at reasonable prices. However, definitely a bar not a restaurant, the music was far too loud to hold any sort of conversation. Food was good though, the halloumi burger was yum.Only complaint was in relation to the overzealous security staff on the door. Even though our group had a dinner reservation and our names on the list, my friend had her water bottle confiscated. She asked if she could empty it out and keep the bottle but it was still taken away from her. I don't think this was appropriate treatment of dinner patrons. Completely unnecessary.

We found this club on google maps on the off chance of a late night drink, ended up staying here until 3am. For once.....the bouncers were lovely, chatty and accommodating with smoke breaks. MYLES!!! looks exactly like Russell brand and is also the most skilled and considerate bar tender i have experienced in a busy club. Elliot his manager was constantly present and always helpful and friendly. We are not local, I am from Portsmouth and my girlfriend is from South Africa and we had an incredible night. You would be a fool not to check this place out.....

Been there twice at my last visit to London and really liked it. Fresh food and well-served. Drinks and cocktails nicely done and the bottle of water was always cold, just the way i like it.It was my first time at a pub in the UK and although it's way different from the pubs in Brazil, it was pretty nice. Great background music and friendly staff.

Came here for a friends birthday this weekend and had a really good night - will definitely be back. DJ was good - playing a variety of different genres of musicCocktails were really good, the Old fashioned and Espresso Martini's especially Bar manager Elliott and the rest of the bar staff were all friendly, as were the guys on the door. Never had to wait too long before being served - or at least acknowledged - at the bar, even when it was busy!

I'm always been jumping in for a drink and always drink after drink i've stayed in till the end of the night . Amazing staff with Tom,Stevie,Matt and Franco ... they are the best ... they always on spot and always treat you as a God . I've kinda miss the most friendly doorman i've ever met in my life ... We came here for our Halloween Night Out and had an amazing time. The music was a great mix an added to the already buzzing atmosphere. Bar staff were really friendly and excellent service. We would definitely recommend Gran Union Farringdon to everyone!

Last month, a group of us went to the bar to celebrate a birthday and an anniversary. We had the greatest time! We were seated in the cave, the food and drinks were yummy and the music was FANTASTIC! Make way for us on the dance floor as we will be back there on Friday 28th!

I came to grand union last night with a group of 15 people, we didn't book an area however the manager, i believe his name was Tom, was so accommodating & got us a cosey area in the basement. once we were all settled,the bartender came straight over to take our order!Francesco (Bartender) was amazing, quick service & the drinks was awesome! the dj was wicked, playing all classic hits! excellent night, will definitely be coming back soon!!

First lets start with the place. The bar is a nice modern pub with a baron two floors. The decor is cool and the ambiance is modern.Now let me tel you about our experience this weekend just passed.My wife and I had arranged an evening to celebrate my 30th Birthday at this local. The evening was planned with the local's bar events manager. My wife visited the bar and arrange the itinerary which included dinner followed by drinks two months in advance.At the planning stage all assurances were given that the booking would be organised as requested. An area for 15 people with chairs was meant to be booked.The problems started from the time we ordered our dinner, which was for a smaller group of 9 people. The food order took more than a full hour to arrive, with starters coming last. We chased the issue with the manager several times and nothing was done. At the third complain we got an apology and a refund for the food. So far, a mistake that could have happened, although the initial attitude by management left much to be desired.As the food had taken so long, the additional guest had arrived to the reserved area downstairs. An area which could really bearly accomodate 8 people and only had sits for 6! My wife asked the bar tender to serve the wine which had been pre-paid. After 20 minutes the wine had not arrived. We chased the barman again to no avail.... we had to speak to the manager once more. He then said that it would be with us straight away, he gave my wife the bottles of wine for her to serve it! At the same time we had requested the additional sitting as requested when booked. Again, kid you not nothing was happening after a promise that the chairs would be brought straight away. My wife and I had to got around the bar finding spare chairs in order to accomodate our friends.We will never ever be returning to this bar, nor will our 15 guests.If you have an important event make sure you do not organise it with grand union bars, as they will let you down.

Visited this small site recently with some of my work pals for after work drinks. We were greeted by an enthusiastic, attractive, perky and eccentric bartender Matthew. He served us all evening with table service included. Fantastic evening, compliments to the whole management team.

Visted here last friday for a couple of drinks after a meal, had the best time with the dj banging out all the best songs. matt was incredably helpful with cocktail choices and stevie found us a table when we wanted to be seated. all in all epic night

Visited last night to have some celebratory drinks with friends. All staff (including security) were so friendly, happy and approachable! There was no job too small, and all staff were very attentive to the needs of our group and other customers. We all felt so safe and genuinely valued. The cocktails were just amazing, and if like me you struggle with decision making, the recommendations from staff were en point. We didn't eat here but from what we did see, the service was efficient and if the food tasted as good as it looked then I'm sure it was great! Thank you so much for having us, the only thing missing was a bit of Shania Twain on the playlist, which was easily remedied on the night bus home! We had such a great night, would definitely recommend the venue and will come back soon!

We had just been to the Oriole speakeasy and this was the complete opposite to that.2-4-1 cocktails but they had to be the same cocktail. So that was 2 Old Fashioneds and 2 Pornstar Martinis with a side order of sweet potato chips and fries for £27.So not bad for drinks before we went out to eat.

Celebrated July 4 here with a very good American friend of mine. We chose to go to the Grand Union as it's known to have an American feel to it. It certainly didn't disappoint! The food is priced very reasonably, the menu offers a good variety of food, allbeit mainly American (burgers etc). The milkshakes and cocktails are lovely and the restaurant itself is very friendly on the eye, with lots of quirky artwork. The service was a little slower than you would expect, but there were big 10+ tables as it was July 4, so it didn't disgruntle us. Would definitely visit again.

Everything about this place was great, but what made it outstanding was the service by a pretty girl called Emily! She really knew how to turn the night out with the girls into the best night ever!!! Thank you Emily!!

All staff members at this establishment were very welcoming from the moment we arrived, the service was great and very speedy.The assistant manager (Thomas) was very attentive in making sure we had everything we needed and were having a good time. The atmosphere was all around very friendly, the adding of the music made it a great place to go with friends and have a great night with drinks and dancing. Definitely recommend going!

We had such a good time, great location, good selection of spirts and the knowledges and tricks of the amazing Italian bartender Francesco help me forget all my day in the office, strongly recommended for a date.

My friends and I regularly go to the Grand Union at Chancery Lane, for the great food and drinks and amazing service. Last night was our first time going to the Grand Union at Farringdon and I expected exactly the same outstanding night out. The venue had the great quirky feel that I had come to expect and the drinks were delicious. Whilst having a lovely night with friends who had just bought a round, a member of staff came up to my boyfriend and asked that he step outside for 15 minutes and have a drink of water. In our mixed group, there was no seemingly obvious reason for them to pick him out, he was not being aggressive, overly loud or acting drunk. However I went outside with him and as a sign of good faith he drunk the water and we waited having a private conversation for the 15 minutes. We asked the bouncer if it was the manager's decision for my boyfriend to step outside but he failed to answer stating it was a 'colleague'. Whilst waiting my boyfriend and I privately decided to go back in and finish our drinks then leave, considering this ruined our night. Whilst waiting, the bouncer approached my boyfriend and told him he could not go back in. There was no apparent justification for this, my boyfriend and I had been passively waiting and had not disputed the decision. He was allowed to go back in to collect his belongings. Upon leaving with our full group of friends, I told the bouncer I was not happy with the service we received and the bouncer, seeing our group, apologised and stated we could all back in (including my boyfriend). To me this back tracking on seeing the number of customers they would lose highlighted how unjustified their decision was. Considering the number of people in the venue and the time (coming up to midnight), I could not see any justification for my boyfriend being asked to leave, being no more inebriated as the other customers (in fact there was quite a rowdy birthday group there). The only reasoning I could think was that as a 6ft 3 rugby built man with a beard he stuck out from the crowd and was singled out for his appearance not his actions. I will never be returning to this venue.

In all seriousness the food here was great. We went for the meal and 90 mins of bottomless prosecco for £25. The ribs were very large and full of flavour, the prosecco was crisp but without being sharp. Our waitress Caitlyn was particularly amazing on the night, super accommodating!

First of all I would like to say a massive thank you to all the amazing staff and management, for making my 30th Birthday party a night to remember. As a bartender myself I know just how hard you guys work to make each and every customer feel important, in return creates an unforgettable experience at the Grand Union Farringdon.I have to say that this place is fantastic! If your looking for a bar/club that is quirky, great music, not rammed to the point where it is over capacity and then that random person spills his drink all over you because your dancing too close, good food and if your looking for friendly staff and management that know what they are doing, then this is the place to be on Saturday night. Everything was on point from the service to the DJ getting the crowd dancing. Will definitely come here again and party some more. Once again thank you to all the staff and management and I shall be down soon to buy you all a drink

I came here on a Saturday with a bunch of friends. My friend comes here often but it was my first time and it did not disappoint! The decor is amazing and the staff were lovely. We got there quite early which meant the bar was not too busy and the cocktails were great. My friends and I got chatting with the bar staff and the manager Rafael. They were super friendly and made our night even more fun. Highly recommend!

I attended a charity event tonight which was held in the downstairs bar. It was a great space and service was excellent. The staff were absolutely fantastic! Particularly accommodating and looked after everyone, especially those who had special requirements! I had a great night and that was due, in no small part to the fantastic team at theGrand Union! I've been to the Grand Union in Farringdon and the one in Brixton and I have to say, I think the one in Brixton is nicer mainly because of its awesome outdoor area.Having said that, I had a great night out here with a good balance of the upstairs being a more civilised, classy bar and downstairs being an area of trashier good fun with good music and dancing so you've got the best of both worlds! p.s. For those who like Fabric, it's a good pre-drinks place since it's just round the corner, for those like me who think Fabric is overrated, stick to Grand Union, it has a way better atmosphere!

Having done seom research, I opted to come here to start our evening off. I lived the decor in here, and the music was also good (not too loud, and some cool tracks).The cocktails were great, and luckily enough it was happy hour so we took full advantage. Then only annoying thing is that we had to purchase the same cocktail to get the second for free ( this is more for the benefit of the staff rather than the customer, and then had to deal with a rather melted drink). However, the cocktails were very tasty and the fact one was sitting untouched for a while didn't ruin the tate, it just meant we could not try the large array in their menu.We also ordered a basket of chicken wings which came out very fast, and we're a perfect pairing to the drinks.We were seated in not the best location of the venue, however tactfully away from a game of rugby which was being watched on a large screen down stairs.Overall, I would definitely come again, as the venue, staff and drinks very great.

Our group from work visited the Grand Union on a week night. We had a reserved corner table which between the booth and chairs held about 11 people. We hung out for approximately 4 hours and enjoyed many rounds of drink. I sampled the bottled beer, and my colleagues had everything from bottles of wine, prosecco, beer, cocktails, and soft drinks. Both the bar and the table service were good. Additionally, we had many items from the food menu including nachos with salsa and guacamole, sweet potato fries, chicken wings, pepperoni/sausage pizza. The chicken wings were lightly seasoned and more like fried than the hot wing style I am used to from the States. The pizza had a light crust, and it was my favorite of the items we sampled. There was a good green salad with olive oil and a spicy lemon dressing. Our work group frequents this bar, and I can understand why. It is comfortable without being too over-the-top. There is a downstairs bar as well. The toilets are located on the lower level. I would come back here again, and I would recommend it for both business people and tourists.

Had a Christmas work do for 80 here and it couldn't have been better. Waiters and bar staff, doorman and manager were attentive and friendly; food was tasty; music was great! They gave us the whole downstairs area which was a decent size and beautifully decorated. Yummy cocktails too!

I had a great time in the grand union and our bartender/server Matt (i think that was his name!!) was super nice! Decor is very cool. Nachos are overpriced though!!

I came here last week which I had organised for my company round the corner from the venue. It was booked by a lady called Charlotte who was so accommodating, she was the only person dealing with my booking and it was so refreshing to be greeted by her on arrival to the venue. The drinks & food were fantastic and we were looked after by the manager I think his name was Rafael. He was just as accommodating as Charlotte and knew everything we had asked for the evening when booking. It's so nice to book an event, and come along to a venue and relax while they take care and produce a fantastic evening!!! I will be returning, hopefully for a birthday quite soon :) Thanks Grand Union, and to the bar team who were very efficient!

Came here for my friend's bday and enjoyed such a great customer service! I recommend this place to everyone especially if you want to celebrate bdays with your friends! P.S. Matthew was so nice and made sure my friend had the best cake!

Service is great from Nora and a great place to go after work. Happy hour before 8 is a great addition to our night. Food we ordered was tasty especially the burgers. Definitely will recommend this place.
