The barmaid was very hostile and encouraged other bar staff and the owner not to serve me in spite of me having had one round there in the previous hour. I was prepared to pay for a £40 round for me and my father but the barmaids conduct encourages me to never return again.

The bar had grown men of age around 50 to 70 talking together and their language was beyond the pale. The bar maid with a high pitched voice was talking with them whilst tables outside were littered with dirty glasses and cups. I could not believe they were not asked to curb the language especially as there were children seated on the perimeter of the outside space. We actually wanted a coffee but you had to order on line and there was no coffee or tea on the menu although there was a coffee cup on one of the tables. We sat for quite some time trying to get the menu to work and no-one came to offer any help or to ask if we wanted anything.

Nice little bar that serves good quality beers and does a happy hour most days. I've not been back since it's reopened so not sure if that's still the case

If there is a friendlier locals bar anywhere in the world, I am yet to find it. Great selection of drinks, competitively priced, with wonderful staff. Just perfect

This place is lovely. The decor is fab. They have a good menu of drinks to choose from. On a sunny day it is great to sit outside and watch the world go by

We called in 1pm ish on Saturday, the Bar was quiet as expected . First impressions were how clean and well kept the premisies were, Becks the landlady was incredibly friendly and helpful .The Cask ale I tried was first class, that good in fact I stayed with it for the rest of the afternoon. It was also reasonably priced. We were joined by friends and managed to while away several hours in this lovely relaxing place . The bar became very busy and still standards were high .There is outside seating if the weather is good.Overall a fantastic afternoon. If The Pines were nearer to home it would be our new local !Thankyou Martin &Colette (Burnley)

A small, compact cafe with a friendly, inclusive atmosphere. Definitely a cut above the average park cafe - nice coffee and a good selection of cakes and traybakes. The breakfasts looked good as well.

This used to be a good bar but is now just a high priced dog compound. 9 dogs in this very small bar. Wouldn't order food given the smell of dogs and lack of washing of hands by bar staff after feeding treats to the dog. Don't bother, there are better alternatives in Formby.

Expensive for what you get. Service was great but you can feel the place is just designed to get as much money as they can for what little they give

I briefly popped into Waterfields today and I was very pleasantly surprised at the selection. The cakes and snacks were extensively stocked behind the counter and were very reasonably priced at under £2 each. I bought a cupcake with vanilla cream on top which was delicious! The staff serving were friendly, polite and efficient. You can also sit in to eat, if you wish. The only issue was that the loaves of bread/toasties were running out, then again it was 3pm so this was understandable. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit!
