The Pier Ceylon in Canterbury

Amazing food ; fast service ; generous portions and great atmosphere /decoration ; we were there for dinner but decided to stay longer because they have a singer and by himself did such an amazing show; people dance and had a great time. Also It’s Dog Friendly ! We were in the area just for the weekend in December but I would go back just to go to this restaurant. We absolutely love it !

Happened upon here by chance and I'm glad we did! The food is absolutely amazing, cannot fault it at all. Friendly staff and the band that was playing were pretty damn good too (Delta Blue). If we're in the area again for a night out, we will definitely be coming here again.

Booked here for our first experience of Sri Lankan food in Herne Bay. We are a couple in our 60's. We knew there was a singer on but we assumed it would be appropriate for restaurant dining. We shouldn't have gone in when we heard the volume the music was on. The singer who is used to fronting a party band was belting out up tempo songs at the top of her voice so we couldn't have a conversation. There were several people who weren't eating and who were shouting out loudly. As for the food, well it was tasty enough but there was very limited choice of curries-one chicken,one prawn and a vegan option plus a burger and a few small plates.The waitress did not write down our order and there was a mistake in that the roti bread was missed off our order and it was so long coming we had to ask at the bar where it was.When it eventually came we had nearly finished our mains and it seemed as though it had been heated up in a hurry. To be fair the waitress was very apologetic and knocked 10% off our bill. I'm afraid we were put off returning, which is a shame because I had high hopes for a new type of restaurant in the area. Perhaps the owners should decide if they want this place to be a proper restaurant or a party venue.

The food and drink here is exceptional. The Hot Chocolate and the Loaded Fries I would highly recommend. Dog friendly and really nice chilled out atmosphere and Vegan options.

I just like the place. Dil and Harry, owners, often organise events, so do look at their web-page. They make a superb Mud-Slide cocktail, which is never big enough, so I need at least 2.

My friend and I went out on one of our rare excursions for the drag bingo night, we booked early as wanted a meal as well. We had a lovely meal, my friend had the king prawn curry and I had chicken kothu, absolutely delicious, generous portions to the point we couldn't eat it all! The Irish coffee nearly blew our socks off, quality whisky, generous dollop of thick cream, we followed up with strawberry soleros, dreamy. As for the entertainment, I haven't laughed so much in ages, the drag act is so entertaining, the bingo hilarious, will defo go again for this. What really completed the night was the friendliness of the staff, very attentive polite and chatty, lovely decor 10/10 to you guys, and thank you x

On a wet cold Tuesday evening I joined friends for a cabaret show and dinner. The food was excellent tasty well priced and the service we all thought was excellent both welcoming and timely with our food orders . The Entertainment as ever was just hysterical if this is your thing 💃and thoroughly recommend this venue Well done 👏

Highly recommend a visit. We went to their comedy night and took advantage of the burger and drink for £15 offer. Both were awesome- comedy was brilliant and the food was gorgeous! We'll definitely be back for both in the future 👍

Always a warm welcome in this cafe/bar. On this particular visit we had lunch, we took a visiting foody friend and he was very impressed. His dog was also made to feel welcome. We have taken my elderly father here for coffee, who also really enjoyed his experience. The place feels very inclusive. Food and drinks good quality, love the fact the cakes are always vegan, coffee great and food with a spicy kick if you want it and loads of vegetarian options.

Whatever the occasion, day or night, the amazing team at Pier Ceylon are warm, welcoming and super accommodating. They offer an incredible menu of delicious food and they serve the best hot chocolate I have ever had!🥰

This venue is an absolute gem in Herne Bay. They host more live music and events than any other venue I’ve seen in Kent and all the things I’ve been to have been brilliant. Innovative + delicious cocktails along with gorgeous food with beautiful views of the ocean - there is nothing not to love. The venue is also a very safe space for the LGBTQ+ community which is a big deal for the area. I have met the owners and you can tell they genuinely care about the customer experience which makes such a difference. I definitely recommend a visit.

Really lovely setting for a get together with friends. Relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. Didn’t feel rushed even though we kept talking and forgot to look at the menu. Love the fact that the menu caters for all and the food was absolutely delicious.

Perfect as usual, lovely view and great service. Usually I have the Old Fashioned cocktail 🍹 which is amazing but I am not drinking at the moment and the Lucky Saint was perfect.

We have been visiting The Pier Ceylon for a few years now and we travel from Essex every time. We love this place they do the best Mocha I have ever tasted and my hubby loves their Chai Latte. We normally always have a fabulous brunch here too which is delicious. It’s very dog friendly and we always bring our Frenchie Gigi the staff are amazing and the lovely girls always bring Gigi lots of treats & water and she loves all the attention. The girls are so friendly & polite. They offer 2 cocktails for £15 at certain times during the day and the other week I had the pumpkin spice martini latte which was amazing. We hope to visit again before Christmas. We really wouldn’t go anywhere else when we come to Herne Bay. This place is our favorite.

A lovely cafe/ reasturant. A must for a visit to Herne Bay. The sri lankan menu is varied and such a treat to have hoppers with authentic and tasty curry but also options of more traditional UK breakfast/ flavours. The coffe/ hot chocolate is delicious and the cake options looked great. Great location opposite the peir.

I have nothing but praise for this amazing restaurant and entertainment venue. The Sri-Lankan food is as you will get in the UK, with at least 50% of the dishes suitable for vegans. The entertainment was great and the team of staff all seemed genuinely happy - somebody is doing something extremely well to bring us this gem of a place. Use or lose!

Visited here for brunch, not so great. Then went for dinner and oh my god! Food was wicked. Stayed for the drag bingo and that was awesome. Even my rather young son was in stitches. But inappropriate but hey, it was an eye opener. Most jokes went over his head but he gigglesld at some of the swearing. Thankfully he is a responsible kid with irresponsible parents. Coffee good cake stale did not clean table even when they bought coffee over cake arrived 10 minutes later and still didn't wipe table 3 times they had opportunity to clean table and it was covered in coffee stains and bit of lettuce the young girl was only member of staff that had a smile the rest looked like they couldn't wait for closing time shame really as coffee very nice

Stopped off here after a long walk from the other side of Herne Bay and was surprised by an absolutely wonderful Sri Lankian village breakfast and a full English egg hopper breakfast. They never said no to any of the request. staff was absolutely brilliant and very accommodating. It was a surprise and the staff made sure it looked like one. Perfectly planned from their end. Ambience there is great in the evening party. Very good cool lighting for a cozy evening. We were provided with a small stage for someone to do the music and also had a projector. We are very lucky to have such this wonderful bar/restaurant/event venue in Herne Bay. Incredible Sri Lankan food, inventive and unique cocktails, lovely vibe, decor and location on the seafront. I love that they make a huge effort to offer something different to the town, from drag bingo to live music and comedy nights. We have enjoyed drinks in their garden in the summer and inside in the winter, and most recently went to their NYE 3 course dinner and drag cabaret party which we enjoyed immensely. Such lovely staff, too. Lots of vegan options and dog friendly.

Love this place. Always super lovely and friendly staff, comfortable seating, dog friendly which is always helpful, and food and drinks are fantastic. We have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and thoroughly enjoyed them all. We have also been for drinks and event nights. Can't fault it and can't wait for the next comedy night.

The venue itself is beautifully decorated and lovely lighting and creates a very chilled atmosphere. The staff are nothing but amazing, friendly and so helpfull. The owners are so accomadating and made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely faultless and the flavours were incredible. We had an amazimg night and cant wait to return to try more of there food. The cabaret was fantastic and had the whole place engaged and laughing. I was invited to a Drag Bingo night here. I went with 4 other friends. What a great night! There were 2 drag artists dressed in Christmas dresses & they were wonderful! There was laughter, singing, music,, oh and bingo. What a laugh, I'm definitely going again in January & I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good time. (Contact beforehand because these events sell out very quickly.)

An inclusive bar and restaurant, calming ambience and friendly atmosphere. Sri Lankan menu changing frequently serving delicious fresh food, with a mostly vegan menu if you're hungry, but a great place if you just want to sit and chill over a pint, a cocktail, a coffee or a cup of green tea! We first stopped by on a Sunday lunchtime, we had the dogs with us who were very welcome too! We each had a different version of their village breakfast which we were totally impressed with.
