The Picture House in Leeds

Good,hot,plentiful food. Great value, friendly staff. Everyone in our party left full and happy, we especially enjoyed the deserts for only a little bit extra when we bought our main meals.

I would definitely recommend this as a reasonably priced eating place just north of the town centre in Leeds. The carvery was excellent with a choice of beef, turkey and gammon. All the meats were excellent and accompanied by a good range of vegetables. But only one real ale. The rest were lager pumps!

Excellent value for money with polite friendly staff. The food was excellent with a choice of 3 different meats. Clean high chairs available and baby changing facilities you can get a pushchair in

Called in on Sunday 2nd feb Food was well below par Roast potatoes were what could only be described as deep fried Mash was solid and just crumbled when you tried to have some peas were very dry The meat was ok but with everything els being so dry it just wasn’t enjoyable The lad tasked with cleaning the tables was more interested in watching his kids run about round other eaters He did say stop running but kids will be kids What he should have said was sit down and behave Used to be nice in here but almost £9 each for a Sunday carvery I can’t see me going back any time soon

Popped in here for a quick bite to eat before going to a show. This is the worst place I ever visited in my life. The food was terrible, almost inedible, it was cold, tastless and disgusting. The lager was flat. The place is dropping to bits, it looks and feels dirty. The staff all look totally disinterested and indeed when we complained that we had ordered baguettes to the serving lad we got a shrug of the shoulders and a sorry, no interest to rectify. The sandwhich itself, my seven year old grand-daughter could have made better and the salad to dress the onion rings was brown and only fit for the compost bin. Being fairly well travelled I can honestly say out of any country this was hands down the worst place I have ever frequented. Avoid Avoid Avoid!

Come in this morning and it was a lovely meal even tho there was not much staff on shift the man behind the bar was really lovely and friendly and the tables was really clean and will come back thank you

Me and my friends were looking for a place to go for some food after a rather heavy night in the city centre. We decided on the breakfast here. All our most favourite hangover cures was available. At other restaurants you are limited to how much you can have in a portion for a Breakfast, whereas the choices to plate your own up, a breakfast can be tailored which we loved! Coffee was fresh, rather bloated stomachs after as we could refill our plates and was not limited. I am on a gluten free diet and the staff were so helpful to guide me as to what was available to get the most of my money. Friendly staff, chatty and made the morning bearable with a splitting headache. Will return again to try the dinner carvery.

Slow service, bored looking staff, dirty. Cheap drinks but both myself and partner agreed that the Stella didn’t taste like Stella! Football was on. Won’t be back

I was shocked at how cheap the breakfast was at £4.49 considering it's an all you can eat breakfast. Items were replenished quickly and i was served quickly by the friendly staff. Will be back again soon 👀

I am a regular to the restaurant and the food I get have always been to the best standard, I have never had an issue the customer service I recieved was friendly and made me feel welcome and wanted to return more to the restaurant, the staff are all welcoming and mainly the staff member mark always smiley and down to earth.

I come here regularly for food and a few drinks. The quality of the food is great for the price. Cheap prices for a Carvery. The Service is quick and friendly and staff are always happy to help.

So the mrs ordered a Southern fried chicken wrap and I ordered a standard carvery. We visited around 5pm in the evening, the carvery was looking a little dry in particular the turkey. So I opted for beef and gammon... This is where it started to go horribly wrong! Not a veg lover so just mash, roasties and then a dollop of gravy. Well the gravy had been sat there that long under a hot plate it had a skin on it. Gave it a stir and poured... First mouthfuls are always the one to set it off... Well it was disgusting. Roasties and Gammon full of salt. Gravy full of salt. Only the beef which had no salt on, made up for it though with it chewing like concrete. Waste of money. Wouldn't recommend the place under any circumstances. Its gone downhill since I last visited. Desperately needs a refurbishment and some new chefs!

Called in Sunday lunchtame. A friendly young lady at the bar explained how it worked and we ordered the Sunday carvery. Generous portions of delicious turkey and all the vegetables you could eat. Excellent value for money

Fui por primera vez, me atendieron rápidamente, 2 carveries, joven en el mostrador, muchacho muy agradable, hablador y amable, comida agradable y caliente.

He estado aquí hoy con mi novio por primera vez. Insistió en ir allí porque la comida es buena. Quizás la comida es buena, pero definitivamente el personal es grosero como nadie en el mundo. Tengo un Carvery tradicional para mí y media pinta de cerveza para mi novio. He comido casi todo y en algún momento estaba lleno. Le pregunté a mi novio si quería comer la pequeña porción de gammon y algunos guisantes que dejé en el plato. No nos gusta desperdiciar alimentos en general en casa y tampoco lo hacemos en el restaurante.

I was in Leeds city centre and fancied something to eat I decided to check out the Picture House for their carvery.

Coming here on a Sunday and paying almost £9 for a Carvery, to wait in a Carvery line for 20+ minutes because they have an incompetent Carvery chef on. There was no sense of urgency even with a long queue and it looked like he used a cheese grater instead of a knife to get the meat off. On top of that my partner who is vegetarian asked the Bartender for a Nut Roast and asked if you just get it straight from the Carvery Deck. His reply was ‘I think’ so after queueing for 20 minutes we find it should have been ordered from the bar, so we were told it would be brought to our table. They didn’t ask where we were sitting and it never came. Then afterwards we asked if there was any vegetarian gravy as only meat was out, he said he didn’t know, so my partner had a lovely meal of dried up vegetables with no gravy!

If your expecting Michelin star food then dont bother because your only paying Penny's. Very cheap and tou get what you pay for. All you can eat breakfast 4.50! Cant go wrong at these prices

It was my first time to visit the picture house the food was lovely and good priced got a lot for your money the nice man behind the bar was really welcoming and friendly the man saving my and my friends food was clean and friendly I will visit again

We walked in and found a table, it was covered in dried food, I had to go to Wilkos a few doors up and buy some anti Bacterial wipes to clean it. Ordered a drink and a car very each, went up to get our food and there was a good choice, to be fair the food was actually nice except the roast potatoes which were done in a chip pan and not in an oven. We finished our food and drink and decided I needed the toilet, well the smell made me heave that bad it gave me stomach cramps, I had to hole my T-shirt over my nose and mouth as was desperate to use the toilet. I wouldn’t recommend anyone who like a clean and relaxing place to eat visits here.

Just paid £20+ for 2 Sunday lunches which were average at best.

There was flies on my plate. I was still eating and it put me off. It first went on the Yorkshire pudding which I then moved off my plate then the plate itself.

I went in to the picture house for my lunch the food and service were both excellent. I would recommend the picture house to anyone visiting Leeds city centre.

The place was filthy..bare in mind it was morning..(breakfast) dried carrots and peas on high chairs..I must've checked at least 5 high chairs..not fit for any child to be eating from..knives and forks..dried food on..torn seats..the place is an absolute dump

Stopped here for breakfast was ok could do with side plates to put toast on as dinner plates not big enough and something like a pot on tables to put tea bags etc in instead of having to keep going to bin staff nice and down side ladies toilet not clean dark and 1 out 3 hand dryers working .

Went for another visit here for a few drinks before catching a train. Friendly staff and cheap enough (i had 2 bottles of Bulmers for 5 quid which was great value).

Went in for food with my 1 yr old and couldn’t have received better service from the staff. My 1 yr old was hungry and very impatient for food a young lady called Jodie helped me get a high chair and park up my pram she also told me about the child food options. She made a trying meal into an enjoyable one. Will definitely be going back again.

I always recommend this carvery to friends and colleagues who visit Leeds but after our visit on Friday I don't think we will be returning.

we went to eat after Pride at The picture house Merrion Centre for Carvery WILL never go in there again ,they charge for 4 meat and then only have 2 and because we didn't wait and extra 10 minutes we could only have 1 .bad service ,bad food !!!!!

Came into the picture house for a quick drink - brilliant prices so we ended up staying for more than one , great friendly atmosphere , brilliant drink selection , and the food is fab , we all had carvery and none of us left any and our plates were piled high ! Will be returning for definite. The value and quality cannot be beaten

Stuck in Leeds for 6 hours with work and we needed to eat. As we love a carvery we thought we would try it. The food was ok, but the tables were dirty, the napkins soaking wet and as for the toilets, I’m sure they’re an health hazard. One out of order, one with a massive toilet roll in it, one blocked and one absolutely filthy dirty. I did report it, but judging by others reviews not a lot is done about the toilets. The same tomorrow, but a meal deal from Morrison’s and public toilets will do me.

The toilets stinks badly. Should've been my first clue to avoid this place. The food had been under hot lamps for too long as the Yorkshire pudding was inedible being so hard that not even gravy helped. I felt ill afterwards which didn't help.

Visited with friends, very busy lots of families, couples and groups just drinking. Service prompt, hand in your ticket the chef will carve your meat and help yourself to veg. We all agreed the meat was cooked well, the rest average

Finalmente, vimos una mesa con una señora sentada allí y preguntamos si podíamos unirnos a ella y ella dijo que sí. El problema era que solo había 2 asientos, ya que los demás habían sido ocupados para otras mesas, pedimos un asiento, pero nos dijeron que todos eran necesarios. La señora luego dijo que permanecería en la mesa hasta que tuviéramos nuestra comida y luego nos diera su silla. Hubo una larga espera en la cola, pero sabíamos que este sería el caso, ya que 8000 mujeres que asistieron a la Conferencia estarían buscando un lugar para comer. Tuve el pequeño asador y lo disfruté mucho, mi cuñada eligió el pescado y estaba muy decepcionada ya que estaba muy empapada y sin sabor. Ella se negó a devolverlo, pero decidió obtener más fichas para llenar su hambre. Creo que este es un buen lugar para comer y el menú tiene mucho que ofrecer, pero no volvería cuando esté tan ocupado.

He visitado el Picture House unas cuantas veces y me ha impresionado mucho la calidad de la comida: el asador realmente es excelente para el precio y la única vez que vine para el desayuno, todo estaba delicioso. La única razón por la que esto pierde una estrella se debe a que reservamos un grupo para un asado una vez en diciembre y cuando llegamos nos sentamos con bebidas antes de que se nos informara que se habían quedado sin carne, lo que nos pareció peculiar por el momento Del año y ellos sabiendo que vendríamos.

Called in accidentally whilst looking for a place to eat. Decided to stay and try the carvery. Certainly didn’t disappoint, fresh and hot food, lovely punk gin. The pub was buzzing and pretty full. Thank you to all staff that served us👍 Would certainly recommend.

15mins wait for roasties, beef was tough, cauliflower cheese was grey and didn't taste of cheese. Tables were sticky, cutlery dirty and wrapped in a wet paper napkin. Toilets were gross, this place has obviously not been inspected by an EHO for a long time.

Vengo aquí regularmente por una pinta después del trabajo mientras espero mi autobús. Es un lugar de carnes. La comida es buena para el precio. Menos de 5 para un asado completo. La forma en que la gente te lleva a pensar que es 50. El personal es genial, siempre educado y amable. Realmente no sé por qué la gente se queja tanto aquí. Es un bar de comida barata, no un restaurante de cinco estrellas.

Great atmosphere, amazing food and selection of drinks . The staff are all very friendly . Came in for a carvery which was the best I’ve had in a long time. I will definitely visit again as the prices for the quality cannot be beaten ! Grew central location too , perfect to stop off between shops when on a shopping trip.

I often come to The Picture House with my family. It’s cheap for all of us to eat and drink and food is definitely value for money. We love it here

I personally love to come here for breakfast as its friendly, relaxed, the breakfast is great value especially being all you can eat, this place is the only place i go for breakfast when I'm in Leeds

Called in for breakfast it looked busy but clearly pit stop for hung over idiots! It was dirty, poor service and the food.....I wouldn’t of fed my dog it!!

Popped in for lunch today, decided on the carvery which was well cooked, especially the roasties which were great. Good service from both the bar staff and chef who served me. Recommend this place if you fancy something very well priced and good quality.

Visited the Picture House for breakfast yesterday morning. All you can eat for £4.49 is a great deal and it tasted good. Bar staff were so friendly and helpful and asked me if I wanted to add any extra such a mushrooms. It was my first visit and I will definitely be coming again. 100% recommend.

Me and my family visited the picture house fora meal as always. The staff were friendly and the food good quality I don’t understand why people complain.

I would highly recommend to eat here the food is very nice and the drinks are to die for one person I would highly recommend to help you out and who gives amazing customer service is a man called Reece my pudding was a little over cooked but once Reece sore it he changed it without question I would like to thank him for his professionalism and getting me a fresh one went down a treate if you see him he's a friendly guy hes good to talk too

OMG very disappointed, vegetables frozen meat very dry ,Yorkshire pudding frozen, won't be going again. The toilets where disgusting,I had to report the ladies the toilet was blocked with toilet paper ,and the mens was broken and some corned of with tape and most of the sinks had no taps on ,he couldn't was his hand ,Don't Go Here.

So picture house could be better. Bar staff are friendly, beer tastes good and they are always full. BUT the car very always looks and tastes all dried up like it’s just been left standing there all day. The car very section is always left a mess even if not busy. Toby carvers is worth the trip to for a better carvery. Also the carver chefs are always miserable at picture house

I recently had a meal at the picture house with family. The food was excellent as was the service. I always visit there when I am in Leeds the one thing I will say the place needs updating.

we eat here quite a bit although just lately it has gone downhill. Plates are left on tables for hours and the toilets are absolutely disgusting. We ate here on 18th dec 2018 and the young african girl behind the bar was extrememly rude arguing with customers and shouting. Slamming doors and everyone was looking at her. She kept delivering the wrong drinks and then making out it was everybody elses mistake. This girl has a serious attitude problem. This visit was a complete letdown. Such a shame

Used to be a regular haunt but not so now. Toilets is complete disrepair, shelves on back bar full of dust. Seems like a lack of care from the management. Could be a good pub just needs sorting asap.

This was the first time we have been in here for about 12 months and we were really disappointed as the place used to be really good and clean but we nearly turned around and walked out as the cleanliness was shocking.

Took my family for day out went to picture house carvery very busy but food was awful gravy thick and tasteless drinks were coloured water flavourless and toilets must not have been cleaned for months tables sticky from previous customers due to spillages and knifes and folks were full of used food not a nice experience our food was hardly touched we asked for manager and waited still no manager whole experience disgraceful and disgusting its our first and last visit go and your own choice

Busy place with cheap grub, but very dirty and I don’t mean a weeks worth of dirt, I mean months and months, my glass of orange juice stank, the table was filthy and thick with weeks of grease and food, as for the toilets, my goodness! Absolutely disgusting, in fact I had to take a photo!

It’s a cheap and cheerful pub chain, we knew what to expect but wow, never been in a place that was so disorganised before. Pretty quiet when we went in but they had run out of so much stuff and anything that was left was also being crossed off rapidly! Only had one choice of dessert left, ran out of beef, no more chips, ran out of certain drinks. It was actually so bad it became really funny! We were taking bets on what was going to disappear next! It was a Friday teatime in a city centre pub, not rocket science it was going to be/get pretty busy- whoever manages the ordering for the place needed a good shake.

I regularly come to this pub, the staff are great and very helpful. Food is cheap and value for money. Overall a great atmosphere

Visitamos el martes 6 de noviembre para almorzar. Al llegar, pedí una mesa para dos y una señora que tenía un trabajo muy ocupado doblando servilletas me dijo que me sentara en cualquier lugar. Encontramos una mesa, pero estaba sucia, así que nos mudamos a otra que había derramado comida y estaba sucia. Solo parecía haber tres empleados, la muy ocupada carpeta de servilletas, una dama detrás de la barra y un tipo incompetente corriendo con lo que parecía un tazón lavando platos sucios pero sin limpiar una mesa. Nos sentamos por más de 15 minutos y fuimos completamente ignorados. Mi compañero fue al baño y regresó informando que estaban asquerosos con excrementos en el urinario. Mientras él se había ido, miré los comentarios espantosos en Trip Advisor. En vista de la inmundicia, decidimos irnos, subimos a nuestro auto y fuimos a un Toby Carvery y comimos un almuerzo excelente. Aviloid es su asquerosa basura sucia a toda costa. Se debe cerrar.

The staff are very rude.will never go here again very very poor serve an the manager amy needs have manners lessions as well as was very rude regarding my little girl who has food allergies.

Apareció en nuestro tiempo reservado de 1 pm para un asador. El personal del bar era franco y grosero. Nos sentamos en nuestra mesa reservada que estaba justo en el camino y la mesa estaba sucia.

food wasnt actually that baf. place was rough as dogs. signs saying watch uour bags, thieves in operation, didnt do much to make you feel comfortable. tables we left uncleared, cutlery wrapped in napkins.....that were wet. overall wouldnt eat there again unless i had no choice, luckily there is.

Carvery great value for money and tasty. However the place itself is dirty. Sticky tables, dirty glasses, dirty loos. Returned for breakfast next morning which was buffet style and great value for money however they had run out of tea bags at 11am.

Words fail me, we arrived after a five hour drive to Leeds booked into our hotel and went looking for food, we came across this shambles of a place, had the carvery and oh my god, only a choice of two meats and veg missing and what was there was cold, the tables dirty sticky, thankfully i won't be back, i have seen other reviews when the manager says we will take note, dont just take note do something before someone dies of food poisoning

Visited on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Had the carvery lunch which was fine and as expected given the price. Service at the bar was good. Given so many people were eating they could do with more staff clearing and wiping the tables when folks have finished their meals.

I visited the picture house today (9/9/18) with my daughter, her mum,aunty and cousin foe the Sunday carvery. However the food was bland the best thing was the beef which to be fair was nice, however that was it. The tables are old, wobbly and sticky, after reporting this a staff member came over to clean them and blamed the stickiness on the varnish coming off the tables. Finally the temp inside was horrendous, I was sweating and having to wipe my brow throughout my visit as the air con was either not on or working. I ended up leaving half my meal and most of my drink due to this, they also raise the price by nearly 40% just because it's a Sunday too. I would only recommend for a quick drink and not for the food or atmosphere.

I recently had a meal at the picture house with family. The food was excellent as was the service especially one member of staff who helped me gain access to the baby changing facilities with my fussy infant son.

Let's start with a positive - the service getting our drink and placing our order was reasonably quick.

Not this time though...we called in on saturday afternoon after shopping in town, looking forward to a cavery which we have done on many occasion.After finding a table & the good gentleman staff wiped it clean i went to the bar to order. Only two girls serving & about ten people waiting to be served in a disjointed que i waited a good 10 minutes and decided to leave and we went over to a wetherspoons bar where service was immediate . Maybe a seperate till just for food orders only would be a good idea at the picture house.

Went last night (Wednesday) lovely young man serving at the back of the bar very polite and chatty even remembered what drink I was drinking when the plonker I was with couldn’t remember 😂thank you !

We ate here as to be honest we were in a rush and needed somewhere close. First impressions are that it looks grubby. We were unsure but looked at the carvery and it looked ok so decided to stick with it as we needed to be at a meeting half an hour later. The carvery was good but also ordered from the menu, the food from the menu didn't arrive, those who had had the carvery had nearly finished so went to the bar to ask where the menu food was. We had finished our carvery before the menu food arrived. The menu food wasn't great at all.

Just paid £4.49 for an all you can eat breakfast and it was superb. All cooked fresh and a steal Staff nice and friendly

Proper tight on meat portions and all other food disgusting how you sell this is beyond me,total waste of time and money

staff got told a story about a lad and spread it all over town about him plus when you want service you have to find staff as they are always in the back room so if this lad gets beaten up does he sue the picture house pub

Lunch time visit at around 12.30.Firstly enjoyed a good pint of real ale(Doombar) and ordered our carveries.

Excellent food at a good price. All the staff were very friendly and really helpful couldn’t ask for more

El pub dispone de un local muy grande, bien decorado, ideal tanto para comer como para tomar unas cervezas en grupo. En cuanto a la comida, disponen de diversas ofertas económicas para poder comer a buen precio en pleno centro de la ciudad de Leeds. Concretamente, pedí un plato de Mac&Cheese; que se convirtió en un delicioso manjar, del cual adjunto fotografía.

Great food, friendly surrouding eatery. Polite and friendly staff. Went in around 20:00 on Wednesday evening, Staff behind bar asked us to check if we was happy with what was on offer on the carvery with it being late at night before taking our payment, as well with puddings after was late on but still dug up something for us, which was great. Food delicious. Certainly recommend and will be going back again.

We always visit the Picture House carvery on our weekend breaks to Leeds and always really enjoy the food, but last weekend when we visited it definitely wasn't as good (2/3/18)

Now it’s sound enough for a casual pint but when it’s cold and they opened the door I nearly died of frost bite. Had to leave even though I was sat no where near.

We have eaten here many times but found our cost on Saturday afternoon to be disappointing. The tables were sticky and didn't appear to have been cleaned for many hours. There was only gammon or beef to choose from the carvery and the beef had a thick line of gristle all the way down it. The guy serving wasn't very pleasant which is unusual as we have always found the staff very obliging and professional. My mum in law asked for the steak pie but was told someone had already preordered it. Very disappointing.

Do not come for breakfast here its rubbish. Staff rude just because i asked how long it will be to put some food out. I thought the idea of a buffet was to have a choice of food not wait 15 mins then to ask staff for food. You are just going to waste you time. Plus the place could do with a clean tables sticky.

Thought we would try this cheap eating place, pay then get meal at carvery, only trouble there was only scrag ends and then not enough for the 5 of us. We were served 16:35 we were told to wait until 17:00 when meat would be replenished got served at 17:17 when meat was brought out but not the pork. Meat was tough vegetables had been left on hot plate for too long!

Visited 14th Jan for my son in laws birthday. Brought a cake to put behind the bar. Got a carvery each so seven of us, no Yorkshire ready for 3 but ok we'd wait. The chef serving, Steve, was great but the other one bringing food out, James, was very rude. "Don't give them that much" we ordered a king size each which was a Yorkshire pudding and a sausage extra. Got the Yorkshire, no sausage. When we asked James said ' Thought you got extra meat instead' no apology nothing. Handpulled beer was advertised and not on, we ordered j20 peach and apricot twice then on the third time apparently it wasn't sold in there! My husband took the bottle back and said yes you do. He went to order 2 cokes a coffee, and the j20 and it took three attempts to get the order right as the server was serving other people at the same time. When we'd eaten we asked for the cake to be brought out in 10 or so minutes. (We had rung before hand to see if it was ok to bring it in the first place and was told yes no problem) the cake never arrived. When my daughter went to ask where was it, it was still in the box without any candles in it and in the bag we'd brought it in behind the bar. I've only left 2 stars regarding the food, the service would be minus stars. The place wasn't busy so no excuse. My daughter is 39 weeks pregnant and wanted this perfect for her fiance. In no way was this perfect. The tables also hadnt been wiped down and were sticky and scribbked on. Food good but customer service nil. Don't be visiting again.

I vivit this pub quite a lot decent food for decent price but dont know wether I will go again nor reccomend it.on Friday 5th Dec my friend and I got the carvery and I nearly choked on a hair that was 12 inches long I nearly swallowed

the place is filthy the food is always cold wouldn't take a dog to eat there they cleaned the cutlery by dipping the food in to a cup of water and wiping with a cloth

Just had a lovely carvery at the Picture house and could not believe how nice and affordable it was. I also read these negative reviews and makes me laugh. What do you expect, i paid £5.79 for a drink and carvery, it’s really good value.

We were looking for somewhere for breakfast and came across the picture house and were brought in by the idea of all you can eat carvery.
