Ended up here by chance, looking to grab a quick coffee. Super friendly staff, very smooth coffee in a generously sized cup, and a shortbread biscuit came free with the drink too! Don’t be put off by the unassuming exterior. This is a fab coffee shop.

Quite disappointing. Service was unfriendly, they were out of stock of the entirety of my friends order but only said once she had paid. The food was below average, cheese wasn’t even melted in the panini. Food took ages. Also ordered a takeaway toastie to bring back and didn’t come with crisps or salad like sit-in orders do, yet cost the same price? Doesn’t make sense, bit of a rip off. Not sure if it was an off day as other reviews sound great, but either way wouldn’t recommend.

Have been here a few times. Service is friendly and waiting times are pretty good. Not a fantastic selection of food, but its ok. Major gripe - why is all hot food served on cold plates?

A nice little cafe but just a few little tweaks and it could have been much better. Despite being quiet our two coffees took 15 minutes to arrive and the macchiato was mostly milk. The bacon sandwich was average and poached egg on the smashed avocado toast was watery and over cooked. It was all ok, not bad enough to complain about but not good enough to recommend. Maybe we just caught it on a bad day as this was our first visit and lots of other reviewers are full of praise.

The soup of the day was sweet potato and coconut. I was informed people like it; unfortunately it was too sweet for my wife. Chilli con carne was served on rice that was tasteless; I had to request salt since condiments are NOT provided in this café. That did little to improve the tasteless bland lump of rice; since it should have been cooked properly in the first place and was stuck together where it was in contact with the dish. The chilli con carne needs rice or jacket potato to be a balanced dish - it was left. Very poor, it is not difficult to cook rice.

Whilst enjoying a child-free day off work with my wife, we decided to search for somewhere we’ve not been before for lunch. We settled on checking out Picnic Box and weren’t disappointed. I had the Brie, Bacon and Cranberry panini with a Rum & Raisin milkshake (because I’m a big kid) and my wife had the cheese and onion marmalade sandwich with a tea. We were well happy with the value for money. The food was great, the tea was ‘Teapigs’ - which is always a winner - and the milkshake was banging. If I had to pick a criticism, I found the seating to be rather uncomfortable. That’s fine for a quick lunch but I wouldn’t want to sit in for very long - partially due to having back pain, but the seating didn’t help that. We will certainly return when looking for a quick, local bite to eat.

It was a really lovely experience here for our family today. I was pleasantly surprised with lovely customer service this time ( haven't been for some months as I'd previously been left very underwhelmed with the service and attitude of the staff at the time) the girls working greeted us and served us very quickly despite being very busy when we came in. Took time to ask after us once we had our food, which came quickly and was all perfect! This visit was a stark contrast to a few months ago and left me wondering if it's under new management. I only like to leave positive reviews reviews on Trip Advisor and The Picnic Box today definitely deserved 5 stars!

We were staying in Upton and visited the Old Anchor pub, where we enjoyed puddings that had been made at this establishment. On leaving the pub we decided to find the shop in order to buy puddings to take home. Delicious homemade steamed puddings are available to buy from the shop or online. The puddings are all made on site using traditional methods and are big enough for 2 people to share. Currently they are £3.60 each or three for £10. We bought 3 of course and our only difficulty was choosing from the huge range available. They freeze well so no need to eat them all at once!

Nice place to meet for drinks, wide selection of craft ales. Bar appears to be too small for the demand and this results in long queue
