The Philip Larkin in Coventry

Cant comment on the food as I was there for some great music. Parking is a nightmare but if you're walking it's got a decent atmosphere, a good range of drinks and great staff.

I was told it was rough and racist so I thought being coloured n in the area I'll pop in for a drinks and I have to say prices are good everyone vibing to karaoke and I aint feel any way there was multi culture but few neither or no bad vibes or energy.

Couple of pints, very upbeat atmosphere.

The pints are 2 pound and the music is awesome

If you want to be a victim of racism, do visit this pub. Extremely rude staff. The lady at the bar counter does not have basic manners.

Had an extremely disappointing experience with the staff. My friend and I wanted to watch a F1 race and just got inside maybe with 2 minutes for the start of the race. After checking in with the receptionist if it’s fine to sit down and *assuring her that we will be buying drinks from the pub*, we sat down. I was super excited because it was my friend’s first time to watch the game and had my camera out wanting to record the starting seconds. Just as the race started, right on the SECOND the receptionist turned the TV off. This was very disheartening because she said we can’t watch because we didn’t buy drinks (although we were going to buy after the race started and already told her). If there was a rule that we can only sit and enjoy AFTER ordering she could’ve maybe said that before the public embarrassment. But I do think all customers should be allowed to take a breath and leisurely decide what they want to drink without running to the counter just as they enter. This was very unpleasant as she didn’t give us the benefit of doubt at least to ask if we’ll be ordering later.

I found this pub to be very nostalgic. It reminded me of how pubs used to be when I was a kid. They played decent music and the pints are cheap

Proper old school pub. Good assortment of beers definitely worth a visit. Owners nice people behind the bar . Go and try it yourself!

What a place to go for a good karaoke night out on a Thursday one of, if not the best place to go in town Thursdays are just brilliant!! Weekends are top notch aswell especially Saturdays when they have bands on also they have a good selection of tvs with sports on aswell, Bar staff are always on form very good service and in good spirit, the managers are sound have a great laugh with them everytime I go in, Alot of hard work and effort has gone into that place so fair play and good prices too !!

Great pub, a lot bigger on the inside than you'd expect. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The atmosphere was fantastic, plus, they have great bands on like Third Alert.

Go in here all the time but not been for two weeks. Price of my usual drink has gone up 40p seems new staff on and did not know when prices went up.

I hadn't been in this venue for over ten years, when at that time it was called the Tutor Rose and the Tally Ho before that. A nice venue showing all the sport and with a free jukebox. However, no food available.

The bartender the lady bartender gave me the best Scottish and Irish wisky . Love it love it

Can't mark the food, didn't eat, service was brilliant, very fast and very friendly staff, atmosphere was not good at all, music playing at the same time as football game is not sensible, you can't hear either, you can't hear who your with, I recommend in the future, pick 1 or the other, if it was that way the atmosphere would be much better

Was over from Donegal for the weekend. Call in for the live music on Saturday night . Had a great night. Locals and staff are very friendly and chatty. Good atmosphere and good prices on the Guinness young lady behind the bar made us feel at home . She even put a Wee shamrock on my guinness head . Will be calling again when I'm back over visiting 👏🫶

Decent pub but like a lot they have been hit hard and it's a lot quiter than it used to be. The management are trying to build numbers back up with the entertainment but regrettably a lot of people can no longer afford to drink and socialise. Show some support for your local boozer, even if it's just for a pint. Let's not lose many more pubs.

Worst place in Coventry. Extremely rude staff and awful doorman who doesn't avoid harassing customers. All ins and outs of this pub are squalid and stinks. If you walk through the door, you will experience the biggest regret of your life.

A nice friendly pub with a good mix of old and young people enjoying themselves, live music every weekend. The only thing negative I could say is that the music can be too loud but if you've already had a few drinks it doesn't matter but if sober it could be off putting but overall a great atmosphere and everyone's enjoying themselves so I'd definitely recommend.

The Philip Larkin I love Larkin’s poetry, having discovered him at university so seeing a pub named in his honour was an excitement doomed to crushing disappointment as apart from his portrait on the sign board the pub displays none of his work or photos from his life. The beer mats look tatty, but it is a friendly and quiet bar offering decent ales. After I left I realized i’d left some of my luggage there and returned for it after some twenty minutes to find the staff had put it safely aside for me so big thanks there.

This is a bar I visit occasionally on my returns to Coventry. In recent years I've found the bar a bit dark and lacking life. I was pleasently surprised to find it light with good atmosphere and friendly staff. Hope it continues in this vein

Sophia is amazing. Her customer service skills are perfection and I couldn’t ask for a more welcoming bar staff. I can only praise and praise the work she does for your bar. She definitely lightens the mood and makes young customers feel very welcome! Thank you for being such a great bar woman

Great night out in Coventry Singing was my daughter but she was welcomed very warmly by the punters and the bar staff and everyone seemed to have a great time.

I am a disabled single man, with spinal problems was told no sitting at the bar?with out chance of explaining my dissabillaty with my back my chair was removed from underneath me with caused me great distress I would recommend people with disability should not go to this place as the are clearly not disability friendly.

Very polite and inviting staff and good beer. One of the very few places that actually have polite, well-mannered and friendly door staff. So many other places and door staff could learn from them. They have a few TV screens for sports, usually with the sound turned off and have music playing. And they regularly host live music.

I find this pub inviting relaxed and stress free . The landlord / landlady actually speak to you and welcome you , this is rare. If you want to chill and enjoy a cool pint in peace then you need to be here. Great juke box music to satisfy us later years generation and equally satisfying LIVE bands etc . VERY clean and covid friendly.
