Sadly the pub has now closed down. It was lovely while open, a big loss to the local community.

Outstanding service from start to finish! We arrived very late as we were travelling after work from up north on a Bank Holiday Friday, the host was super friendly and had waited up for us to arrive. There was a mix up with the room- which was completely my fault- I had booked the wrong room but the host was so accommodating and went out of her way to get us a zedbed and bedding late at night and brought it to our room (for my son). The host then went on to give us breakfast free for our entire stay due to the mix up which I thought was exemplary service! The breakfast was beautiful- everything is freshly cooked and the products used were definitely from a local butcher's (sausage and bacon). I would highly recommend staying here and we will certainly be returning on our next visit down south.

Large family meal pre wedding. We were a party of 17 and we all know that a restaurant table(s) for this number are difficult to find. The team at the Pheasant were able to set aside a very pleasant area for us all. Starters and mains had by all, including special dietary requests. The food was excellent. We were not waiting more than a few minutes, considering the large number of us, to all be served. Impressive. My complements to the chef. The service was also very good and all in all a very decent meal had. Well done team.

Rooms dated, bathroom dire and needs replacing. No toiletry replacement for 2nd night, one teabag/coffee/sugar each, not enough. Food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Staff pleasant.

Club sandwich was absolutely amazing, however starters (pâté & blue cheese creme brulé) not nice at all. Very run down inside, not warm or welcoming! Unfortunately I won't be returning!

Even after the EU thrown away the UK using a high power Chinese electric heater inside the shower is not only illegal but is very dangerous. The most insalubrious place I've ever seen. Not to mention the 15th century sink.

Great hotel and a surprisingly good restaurant, the pork belly is highly recommended.

Nice staff behind bar but But interior very cold and unwelcoming.

Filthy hotel room. Black mould all over shower tiles and and shower door. Toilet rims and plug holes filthy. Bathroom floor stinking and extractor fan covered in thick dust. Bedding was marked and crumbs/hair in the bed. Mould around the window. Complained to manager to see if we could move rooms but fully booked. Said they would send a cleaner in when we went out for food, when we returned the room hadn’t been touched. Had a £7 refund for the inconvenience. I felt dirtier using the shower than going without one. Honestly it was horrendous

I had visited the Pheasant under the old management a few times and it seemed to be quite a poorly run establishment with a bit of a grimy aesthetic. I found out recently that the place was being renovated under new management so I came by to check it out, the place has done a full 180, it has a warm and welcoming aesthetic now and looks like somewhere I could actually visit regularly. The new management is really friendly and apparently they are launching a new food menu soon which I am excited to come back to try! Really excited to see what comes of this local pub which was neglected for so long.

The bar is completely transformed, definitely will have me going there more often now. Much more like a lounge now and excited to have the restaurant open!

Had the pleasure of having a few drinking here since it’s come into new management. I couldn’t recommend it enough! Great atmosphere with such kind and welcoming staff.

Waited for 1 hour outside the hôtel, called the number, knocked on windows, yelled at the windows... Nobody never opened...

Lovely Christmas Day Dinner, amazing food and service - great chefs.

Food is lovely, lots of choice. Lots of care and attention from the staff, made it a real personal experience. Child friendly too. Loving the new events that are on - will definitely be back!

Kitchen staff are excellent, polite, quick and efficient. Housekeepers I cannot fault at all. Operations manager is naive, rude, arrogant and wallows in self petty. Doesn't like criticism to be handed back on his own faults, attempts to be cocky.

Nice friendly guy behind the bar. Not eaten here yet. I fancy trying their breakfast.

Stayed at the hotel for the evening before onwards travel to London.. We were checked in by a lovely and polite lady and shown to our room.. The room was spacious clean and very comfortable... Double bed... bathroom with a bath and shower... unfortunately for me the shower presure was a little underwhelming... personally prefer a good shower than a bath... But never the less....was very impressed with the room and it's facilities... Tea and coffee making facilities along with complimentary biscuits... nice touch Complimentary shampoo conditioner and soap... Really enjoyed our breakfast the next morning at the adjacent bar and restaurant...wide choice from the provided menu... All freshly cooked ... again the service was a very pleasant one...

Great hotel with nice, clean room and bathroom. There were complimentary juices and biscuits in the room, alongside coffee sachets and a kettle, which I thought was a nice touch. Food in the restaurant is good too. I had the duck confit and it was crispy and cooked to perfection. The staff at the restaurant were really friendly and helpful. They have free parking too at the back. Definitely will go back to this hotel if I ever need to stay in Wokingham.

Such a lovely restaurant with great service. Two young people who served us tonight were amazing. Lovely food and drinks too. We will definitely go again soon.

Lovely pub, food was fantastic. Good sized portions and the dessert was delicious. Nate the landlord was really friendly. I requested no potatoes on my roast and they were happy to accommodate me. They had the football on as well. Good menu with a wide range of choice. They are also dog friendly!

Best pub roast I have ever had!

I Stayed here 12/10/22 whilst in the area for work, the welcoming when I first got to the property left abit to be desired, the lady that was asked to show me to my room couldn't be bothered with the stairs so just sent me up. The room: The cleanliness was not good at all, the bathroom was dirty and the room was freezing, with only a plug in electric heater for heat. WiFi didn't reach the room, so the free hotel WiFi was rendered useless. The location: When I pulled up it seemed to be a nice quiet location, which as the night went on because less the case, as it seemed like a hotspot for emergency vehicles, I had sirens up and down the road all night, so loud it was like the window was open. The Food: The food was okay, as far as pub food goes, although for some reason they decided to make my chips into a game of Jenga, I wish I'd have got a picture of that. The atmosphere: wasn't good, whilst I was trying to eat my dinner after a long day at work, I had what I presume are locals, sat behind me at the back of the pub/restaurant heckling and making comments towards me, not the sort of thing you want when you're travelling solo and had a stressful week.

Aweful place ... deliveroo order . Mains didn't even arrive lamb sweetbreads.. on bread? Really ... cold soggy sqiud .. described as crispy and soggy sweet potato fries. When you call them you get an answer phone .. seriously horrified . If that's the standard you want to portray your business as well.. I'm not sure you will stay in business long

We stayed 1 night and found the accomodation basic but clean, adequate and excellent value. The breakfast was very good and the shining star was Nathan who was extremely versatile, friendly, efficient and made us feel very welcome, a true and valuable asset.

Stayed at the hotel for one night. Friendly staff, rooms are clean.

Almost flawless. The only downside was the shower temperature was a little difficult to control. Breakfast one of the best I have had.

Lovely little pub just recently reopened. Food is good with decent sized portions. Polite attentive staff. May well become my new local!

Booked a two night stay as I was working locally. Check in was in the main building where I was greeted by Nate. We went through booking in and showed me to my room in an adjacent building. My room was a large double with separate bathroom with a good size shower. For my evening meal I selected the fish and chips which were very tasty. Breakfast is served from 7am which I had my usual selection from the cooked menu. Nate and his colleagues were all very welcoming and friendly, it's a shame I had to miss my second night. I recommend The Pheasant for an overnight stay or even a tasty meal!

We popped in to this pub on the way home and they had a BBQ on offer..It was absolutely lovely. Beautiful cooked and seasoned. With great sides. The roast dinner looked fab. . It's so nice to go to a pub that isn't doing your usually Hunters chicken. Lasagne etc that is reasonable priced. They even let our grumpy old dog in!

Walked past and realised I'd never been in this local pub-restaurant, so I dropped in for a couple of beers and their traditional fish and chips, which was very good. The back garden has plenty of spots to sit, and some play equipment for kids, but it could use more greenery: it was mostly stones, and the bordering trees had been cut back quite aggressively too. Staff seemed nice.

Excellent meal. We had one fish pie, one grilled curried chicken breast, and both were very good. Staff friendly and attentive.

Nice cocktails and they gave us free potato skins 🤷

Recently stayed at the pheasant and restaurant Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble for them. They go above and beyond.. Rooms are lovely and clean.. Food is ok but a little pricey all in all a very nice friendly place to stay..

Hotel is good value for money. Staff are very friendly and acomadating. Vegan options/edits available. Clean but needs some further decorating in places. Key cards are a bit tempromental for the hotel and one of our lights was broken. But for the price well worth it.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great. The room, though in need of some improvement was clean and comfortable. A great selection of toiletries, coffee and tea. Considering we were in a room next to the car park and restaurant/bar, it was very quiet. A lovely place to stay, close to London and many popular attractions. I would recommend The Pheasant to my friends.

Nice girl behind the bar. Interesting selection of beers. We had a pizza and it was very good.

We booked a table for 8 with 2 young children, staff were very friendly and helpful. Sunday roast was amazing, just like a homemade dinner, definitely recommend. Looking forward to enjoying the garden in the summer.

Just got back, absolutely lovely food, well done chef!!! All fresh home made prepared food. Table service excellent, leave you alone to eat food. We are going back to try the roast. Totally recommend this.

Excellent night out for The Pheasant's 'Wingz Wednesday'. I went with four friends. The dining area was clean and newly decorated with good spacing between tables. The night wasn't massively busy but there seemed to be a good atmosphere particularly with the good humour of the staff. There were four of us so we ordered the three flavours of chicken wing Hot Phez, Phez Special (a creamy mild sauce) and Jerk Barbecue along with the Cauliflower 'Wings' in the hot sauce. The chicken wings were a good size and with plenty of meat on them and tender. The hot sauce was perfectly spiced for the mound of wings that appeared, had there only been one or two wings I would have preferred hotter but across a tray of wings the heat grew nicely and it was not overly acidic as some sauces can be. The special sauce completely killed the heat of the hotter sauce if needed and had a really nice creamy flavour. The Barbecue was nice but perhaps quite a strong flavour for a whole tray of wings. Possibly that's suited to a couple of flavour filled wings as a starter but across the tray it started to be a bit much. The chef upon visiting our table later said that was still a work in progress and I look forward to checking it out at a later date. The star of the night though was the cauliflower 'wings'. Straight out the bat I'll say I hate cauliflower, can't stand it or any product made from it like the rice or pizza bases where I can taste cauliflower. With these it was so subtle it was easily missed in the battered and sauced florets. Incredibly moreish mix of crunchy batter, the hot sauce and the oddly pleasing texture of the cauli. Initially the trays came with at a guess a dozen or so wings on, we ordered refills on the cauliflower hot and the chicken hot sauced wings which cames as four wing top ups which really was perfect allowing a slower appreciation and finding the fill point in good company with good drinks. I think ideally I'd have liked a side to go with my wings like a coleslaw, asian slaw or a spicy rice though a side salad was available on the menu. The service was excellent if one considers this still a new outfit finding their feet. They couldn't do enough for us even getting us a water bowl for sticky fingers and copious napkins. They offered us advice on menu and beer choices and came good on all fronts. Our glasses were kept full at the table and the ale on tap was fresh, clean and beautifully poured. Parking is adequate with a big light on a timer if it looks a little dark when you first pull in, toilets were clean. Can't ask for more. Overall a great night, a passionate staff, good food & drink. Can't wait to come back for Taco Tuesday!

Went with friends for wings, we got both meat and cauliflower wings all quite tasty, personally I liked the cauliflower with the "phez hot sauce" best. The chef was happy to talk about what we liked and had notes on sauce wise, as it seems they are all made in house. Drink selection was good, place was clean and well spaced as is the custom in these covid times. Staff were helpful and attentive, checked on us often and made sure we had what we needed. We were told about taco tuesday as we were leaving, strongly suspect we will be back.

Kitchen closed due to a leak from a storm that happened two days ago! We were informed with insufficient time to book anywhere else or enough time to prepare our own lunch at home . This surely must have been known about well before they phoned us and wreaked our day. In light of the response from the restaurant I wish I could give them zero stars we should have been informed of situation like this well in advance so we could make alternate arrangements as most places book up well in advance.

Great little bar with lovely staff. Fun food with many gluten free and vegan options. Good prices for a large room. Has Netflix for free. Convenient for winnersh station sainsburys and travel to London. Oh and a great range of breakfast options with sizeable full English.

Kitchen was closed until October 2021 but they helped out with some drinks and a great atmosphere regardless...... Update, kitchen is open. Amazing food, great menu and the best staff you will ever meet.

Hopefully on track back to the great local public house it used to be. Could be made better with a jukebox or some other customer music choice service.

Good selection of food and drinks, food was very tasty and yummy! Fabulous outside area for kids (and the garden can be seen from indoors which is handy for parents!!) Love our visits here! We always have a great time

The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. The food is excellent, all came out really hot and so so tasty. There are plenty of plant based options, gluten free options etc and they will happily make changes to suit. Full English breakfast again was awesome. We had an excellent stay and will definitely be coming again. Excellent value for money

We had an early dinner on Christmas eve, - a platter of appetisers for two, burgers, and cocktails. Great quality and excellent service.

Beds and room were clean and well presented, the food in the morning was amazing, I'm coeliac and the staff helped so much, they got gluten free sausage in especially for me so I could have them with my breakfast. Would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel/pub

Well what can I say about this place.. a lot to be honest .. since changing management and refurb and staff .. this place has 5 stars from me , had fish and chips ( absolutely amazing), staff are outstanding, happy, smiles, and can’t do enough to cater for myself, very clean and bright.. Christmas decorations are up which are a nice touch . will 100% be back .. thank you the pheasant 😁

We stayed at the Pheasant Inn Hotel for a month, we were there for work and the staff assisted us with everything. On Airbnb it said there were no toiletries, towels or shampoo but once we arrived, there was everything! Large space, there’s also a smart tv, daily housekeeping service and unlimited teas & coffee. Everything was great, would highly recommend for a comfortable and clean stay!♥️

Very quiet I was the only person in I was staying in a nearby hotel it must have been refurbished/reopened recently nice clean decor and the background music was a nice mix when I was in which was OK with me they where getting into the spirit of Halloween with some nice decorations had there been a few people even 6 in I'm sure the atmosphere would be fine I really hope things work out for you come on people of Winnersh get behind your local pub

Drove past this place a few times, never paix much attention, I was looking for somewhere to have a drink Saturday eve (02/10/2021) as I had family visit me in Reading. I tried a couple of other places arpund area, but upon walking in staff were very rude, so I remembered this place. Staff here are very friendly, was some live music and staff very attentive. I'll be back here for sure, and they have corona on tap :)

If you fancy a step back in time to the early 90s, and you enjoy a dirty room this is for you! The room was very dated, however also had some interesting features which included: Broken furniture - dust everywhere - cobwebs in the corners - unexplained stains on the skirting boards - stained old carpets - a mouldy bathroom - a rubbish shower with no pressure - no heating controls in the room/ heating that was either on full or off and a door that rattles when other guests enter or exit their rooms. Further more they are happy to break fire regulations and use a door wedge to keep a fire door open! Let's just say I wont ne staying here again.

Before I write this review I want it known that I consider that the people I encountered there where genuinely out to provide a good stay and wished the best for their customers. I was given the keys to my room that turned out not to be made up, however this was sorted straight away and I was moved to another room. The rooms were adequate with crisp clean sheets, refreshments, although one dirty cup, fresh towels and was clean. It also had ironing facilities. What let it down was attention to detail. The plastic cup in the bathroom would be so much nicer as a glass. The shower worked but for the eratic, multi directional spray, which was much improved by running my fingers over its face ie a clean would be worth it. The areas around the door and corners needed a deep clean and some filler. The room was also let down by the little things like the unstuck edge of the mirror surround, the angled switch plate and things of a similar nature that would not take much to correct. But as said it was generally clean and crisp. The pub was a untidy, shabby carpet, wires for all the sky sports on display and the eating come breakfast area to the back. The evening meal was good although the table had a rock to it! The breakfast was large, but once again, detail, no side plate to butter the toast on, coffee not fresh. They were accommodating to requests and as stated I felt the heart was in the right place, I just did not think it warranted the £82. Repair the rough edges and it should warrant closer to that value. Remember the sheets and towels were fresh and crisp, I have been to places where that has not been the case, so don't dismiss the Pheasant.

This is not a 4 🌟 as advertised. It's close to a 2/3 🌟 Dirty, broken furniture, breakfast tea served with milk and sugar added in a mug. Just look at the state of the shower. Broken extractor and a light fitting full of dead flies. Don't stay here.

Great hotel - Inn actually. Rooms in a block to the side of the pub so no night noise. Only problem - not their fault - the road is VERY busy and can take a while to travel a short distance to or from the hotel. Food good and so is service. If I was in the area I would stay here again.
