Amazing food and service - great value and incredible flavours

Worst food ever. Tried to deliver an hour early, I wasn't in. I requested a set time for a reason. Same cold food was delivered. Called to complain, they collected food and bought back fresh. But there is no taste at all just pure overload of chilli! Even the naan bread is burnt and tasteless.

Updated review: The veg/non-veg starters were good, portions were decent size, but very less veg mains options. Also the veg biryani wasn't as expected. It looked like they just tossed some mixed veggies in rice and served us. The service was fast though, with many vacant parking spaces in the evening. I would suggest booking in advance.

As shown by the stars the quality was good but the delivery driver went to the wrong address and when they called they insisted they were at the correct location (they werent) when the food arrived it was cold and i had to re-heat it.

Visited six bells a few times now. Whilst the food is good, I’ve noticed their drinks are being mixed. Better to go up to the bar and ask them to pour a drink in front of you. New Goan waiter added to the team. Be cautious, he tries to sweet talk women more than doing his job 😡

Was was decent, they don't give you poppadoms on the table, you have to ask and when they cam out they were like crisps

Ridiculously overpriced for basic pub/indian food. £7 for egg fried rice! Unfortunately the bill ruined a good night.

Went for a new year party. Was amazing. All the staff were very helpful. We were also celebrating a birthday and they were helpful in storing the cake and setting up tables and bringing cake. Highly recommend.

Had an absolutely fantastic time at Six Bells Shinfield! We hosted a party here, and they went above and beyond to make everything perfect. The atmosphere was lively, and the staff made us feel right at home with the lovely fireworks display. The food was just incredible – from delicious curries and buttery naans to unique starters that added a real twist. They had a great mix of drinks to keep the party going, too. It’s rare to find a spot that nails both the vibe and the food, but this place did it effortlessly. If you’re looking for a memorable place to celebrate with amazing Indian flavors, this is it!

Great pub. Fantastic beer selection and service. Really really impressed with the food. Cooked perfectly, tastes amazing. Family friendly, the price reflects the experience. Its a 25 minute journey for me to get here and i am more than happy to make it a regular occurrence. The mix grill, chilli mogo, chilli lamb and butter chicken are standout for me. The naan is melt in your mouth. Also big screens available for the football

Our favourite Indian restaurant in Reading. Great food, ambience, ample parking and speedy service. The prices are very competitive. They also have an app for booking table or ordering takeaway.

Decided to visit for the first time for lunch with family. We received a warm welcome and were offered seating quickly and were also asked if it was okay. On sitting we immediately noticed the aroma of Indian food which definitely started a gastric juices flowing. Our drinks orders were taken and we proceeded to order the food. The first of which was a mixed grill for 3, this arrived in around 10 minutes and served on a sizzling iron platter. The worth of any mixed grill is how well the lamb chops are cooked, I’m pleased to say these were one of the most tender tandoori chops I tasted and set the tone for the rest of the items which were equally as good, especially my firm favourite, Dal Makhani. This was delicious, the right consistency that stick to your spoon without running everywhere. It was full of flavour and went down a treat with accompanying garlic naan, only point to note though was the naan I felt was on the smaller and thinner side, a slight negative. The Amritsari fish was coated in a light batter that literally melted in your mouth and was a hit with all the family. Equally the plate of papaddi chaat didn’t last which was still a decent portion for a starter and was adequate for 4 people. The chilli paneer wasn’t too chilli and had a nice blend of sweet and sour too with the sauce it came in. We came away suitably filled up and will be sure to pay a return visit as well as trying out their delivery service in the not too distant future.

Excellent flavoursome food. Staff were really friendly. The menu is 9 pages long which makes confusing if you don’t know what you like. Indian desserts are delicious.

Nice place, been here many times.. BUT … the portion size is awful not worth the £12.95 for a VERY small dish of curry.. service is great and a lovely clean place.. please just sort out your portion sizes!!!!!!…this has put me off coming back.

Really impressed with our experience at The Six Bells today. Service was prompt and professional with an attentive team who were very happy to answer questions. We ordered the mixed platter for starters and then a selection of tikka masala, biryani, butter chicken and chicken shashlik for main. We found each dish very enjoyable - full of flavour - and I particularly rated my biryani, which came as a large portion and was delicious. Biryani can sometimes be hit and miss but I really enjoyed The Six Bells version, which had plenty of lamb and plenty of spice (a winning combo!). Thanks for a great meal, and we'll be back soon!

I recently had my farewell lunch at 6 Bells Shinfield, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The blend of Indian and diverse cuisines was outstanding, offering something for everyone in our group. The food spread was brilliant—everything was incredibly tasty, and not a single dish was left over. The staff played a big part in making our experience so enjoyable. They were extremely helpful in guiding us through the menu, ensuring we didn't over-order, which we really appreciated. Their kindness and attentiveness added a special touch to the meal. Overall, it was a truly memorable last meal with my colleagues, and I couldn’t have asked for a better send-off. I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend 6 Bells Shinfield for any gathering!

Came here with no expectations. It turned out to be astounding! One of the best Indians I’ve eaten in the UK. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was attentive and caring, and the atmosphere was what you’d expect at a pub. I liked that there was no music, you can hear the people you’re eating/speaking with so that was a plus.
