Boishakhi restaurant in Wokingham

I will start by saying the food was delicious, portion sizes were generous and the food was served quickly. The disappointment was the service was somewhat lacking in a personal touch and then it went further downhill when we came to pay the bill. I have been using a Tastecard for two years now, at various establishments, with no issues, except for this night. We were treated like schoolchildren and told off for not mentioning it on arrival. Why did it matter? A discount is a discount, the restaurant signed up for the offer. Disappointing! For this reason, we will not bother to come back.

Amazing food! Slight mix up on the delivery order, however, we were amazed by how quickly it was sorted out. The manager personally came our with fresh meals, very apologetic. I'm gonna go out on a limb here, posting a rare review, and say this place is just excellent. Immediate service the moment I walked in the door. Very attentive and friendly staff (Mukhit even introduced himself and asked me my name) that would put a Michelin star restaurant's staff under pressure. And the food was great and piping hot. Five stars!

Loved it, the food was really good. The staff were friendly and constantly interacting with the guests. Will definitely visit again.

Went with 6 friends, service a bit hit and miss but food pretty good. As is usually the case in Asian restaurants, beer very expensive.

The best Indian food in town without question (for me). The owner of the place is extremely friendly and helpful. The design of the interior could be improved that's why I'm giving it 4 stars. But for the quality of the food I will always come back here.

We returned the starter as it wasn't cooked, then the next one came out completely overcooked, like rock! Waiter tried to overcharge us when paying; he did not apologise. Was it a mistake? I'm not sure... No care was taken on the overall service. Other than that, the main course was very tasty, as was the onion bhaji

Went for Sunday buffett , the food was cold and tasteless and the starter wings were not fully cooked through.

Lovely food in a bustling Friday night venue. Came here for a date night with my wife and had a lovely time, the food was nice and prices were good. The only thing I’d point out is on a Friday night it does get busy and loud. Not a bad thing as such but if you are wanting a quiet dinner I’d go at a quieter time.

So I had high hopes after checking the reviews and seeing the scores on the door were a 5. The guys in the restaurant were so lovely but my god when i got home the food was probably the worse iv had and most of it went in the bin. The poppadoms were overdone but however the peshwari was schocking. The photo speaks for itself. Was lucky to find a small amount of lamb in the lamb curry. You would have thought id just ordered the sauce. Waste of £30+

I was in a party of 12. No one else in the restsurant. Food and service was good.

Been recently a few times for normal dinner and buffet. Both times food was really good and tasted fresh.

Delicious Indian cuisine: at the moment I think this is the best place I know for this cuisine We had a sumptuous dinner in a relaxed atmosphere and at a very reasonable price. A note of caution: not offering espresso is a shame

Nice food, although they had no beef, the lamb alternative was nice. It was about 7pm on a Thursday, so it was quiet and no one else came in all the time we were there. The restaurant was pretty cold which is not a nice environment to eat a meal. Even one of the waiters had his big puffy jacket on. Staff did not ask how our food was !! So dropped a few stars because of the cold restaurant and lack of attention by the staff. They were very attentive on their mobile phones !! I think we may go back to The Tamarind next time.

Had a really nice catch-up and meal with some mates. It can get pretty busy so I recommend booking. Food is really nice, service is not great but the food makes up for it. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t been before.

Meal was for a friends birthday. Ordered on line at 6.35pm an requested a delivery time of 7.30. Once order was placed came back saying 8.00 delivery! Hubby phoned and was assured that it would only be an hour. So 8.15 still no food, phoned and was told to wait as dealing with another customer. Food finally arrived at about 8.40, anything that couldn’t be be put in the microwave was cold and everything that could was now tough as old boots and quite frankly rank ( not us microwaving it ). The apology at the door was, we have given you some free poppadoms. Really. Not good enough, do not give this restaurant your money!

Ordered a delivery after two hours and two phone calls no food delivered awfull service.

Had a fantastic meal and service on a random visit to the restaurant on a Monday night with a couple of work colleagues. Curry was one of the best I have had anywhere! Inevitably it was quiet being a Monday but there was no lack of enthusiasm in the service and we were treated royally. I will definitely go back. Thank you.

Slow service, food wasn't great

We were traveling to Gloucester and found this place on our way. The restaurant was a fantastic choice and the food was exceptional. We are pleased to have stopped for dinner. highly recommended.

I visited yesterday and was not impressed when the owner was argumentative when I asked for my dish not to have the additional chunky onions that restaurant throws in to fill it out. I suffer from IBS and an unable to digest the onions. The owner stood and argued that I should choose a different dish if I didn't like it, he would need to ask the chef and this was the way that he had cooked it for 30 years. I have an Asian background and I also know how dishes should be cooked authentically Really rude to speak to a customer in this way and try and intimidate me by insinuating that I didn't have a clue. It's never been a problem at any restaurant when I've been able to ask if a dish can be adapted if need be. I was on the verge of getting up and walking out. However, we decided to stay as it was late and chose not to leave a tip. Totally ruined the experience and actually made himself look like a fool in front of customers. If we do ever go back and it happens again we will walk out. Totally unnecessary attitude and no idea what the point of arguing with a customer was.

Good food. Went this evening for the buffet and was pleased with the quality of food. I was disappointed to not see any poppadoms available. Impressed with the price.

After a few recent fails with delivered take-away when visiting the area, we decided to try Boishakhi and we are now hopeful that we have found ours new ‘go-to’. Our order was delivered pretty much on time, but most importantly the main dishes were all excellent - certainly the best we have had in the area for many years and comparable to our favourite at home near Bath… but much cheaper! So great value too. Only negatives were that standard rice portion seemed smaller than is usual elsewhere and that the little bag of salad that divides the nation was both little and was mostly onion. However, on the basis of our first order, definitely recommended.

One of our go-tos for takeaway but the past two times curries have been too hot and items have been wrong. Twice we ordered keema naan and twice we just get an extra plain naan. Getting what they have easily available rather than what you ordered.

Over charged for Sunday Buffet. The sign outside with prices is NOT what you pay. They said " we need to get that changed" as the prices have gone up but we were still charged at the high new price. They also charged my child as an adult, ask before about child ages as one staff member said 10, the other 12. In addition to the owners rather rude comment below, no we were not refunded the full amount. We still paid more than was advertised and yes we will eat elsewhere in the future as you suggested.

Lamb pasanda sauce was so thin it was literally like water, tastless and the few lamb pieces were so tough! The poppadoms and mango chutney were the most flavourful things....

The place is horrible, I have been there a few times and every time it was an awful experience. Your booking it will always gets mixed up and you are rudely challenged whether you actually booked the table, than you have to wait because the table table is never ready. Terrible customer service, staff is unpleasant, they behave like they are doing you a favour that they there. Poor food quality, sometimes is so spicy, full of chilli powder that it is not edible. If you order a take away you wait for 1,5hrs, when it eventually arrives, it is already cold. I don't recommend the place and I'll not visit them again.

Very good Restaurant, food is tasty and astounding. Hospitality is amazing by Shariff. A must visit for South Asian cuisines.

Be careful if you have allergies. Waiting staff not sure of ingredients when asked. Food ok but nothing special. Poor service overall. Update to initial review. Restaurant now states they have an allergy menu. This was not made known to us at the time and when we asked for dairy free rice they gave us pilau rice which is made with milk.

We had a lovely dinner here at the weekend. Service was good and food was amazing. We will definitely return to the Boishaki.

Tasty and spicy Bangladeshi food!

I asked for chicken titanium massala and got a tub of sauce with 6 bits of chicken in. Nothing else very bad for the money it costs

Service was very friendly. Food was excellent. Asked for sweet lassi and got the response "We can make it for you" Made us two very happy customers.

Been coming here for a few years and never yet had a disappointing meal, service or experience. And a great price too. A group of mates and l come at least once a month all year round and Omar is extremely hospitable. 😊😊

This is our go-to for delivery food in Wokingham. It has been consistently good every time we’ve ordered. The food is excellent and the delivery always friendly and prompt. We’ve eaten in a fair few times and… it’s even better! The restaurant isn’t particularly special inside or out but certainly isn’t bad. The food is absolutely great and we’ve always had noticeably excellent service. It’s not the best location in town and a little bit of a pain to get to/park for. I can imagine it’s easy to miss unless you’re looking for it based on a recommendation - I recommend :)

A little bit old fashioned decor and ambiance, but the food is excellent. The menu has a few interesting and tasty curries that you don’t find on most curry house menus.

Placed an order online and received an email confirmation, then received another email 20 minutes later to say they were closed! They still took our money though and it will take 3-5 days to refund our money! What a joke!

Best Curry in Berkshire. Yet to find anything better in Sandhurst, Crowthorne or Reading. Try the Laal Maan, you won't be disappointed :)

First time I have been to an Indian buffet meal. Food all hot and presented well. Good selection. Tasted lovely.

Service was poor. And certain young members of staff behind bar were staring at one or two women all night which made them feel very uncomfortable . They also cared more about carryout than the tables.

Food so good that it will make you rub your stomach with such force that it could have the unintended consequence of changing the earth's orbit.

Absolutely superb food. I am a big fan of Madras but most places take too much stock in the heat and not the flavour. This was the best Madras I have had in years. The meat and sauce were flavourful yet had the required heat with being overpowering for the sake of it. Such lovely staff. Will Absolutely be coming back.

Absolutely fantastic meal delivered within the time frame suggested was sent the wrong starter but it was delicious (salmon tandoori starter) and re delivered the correct estarter within 8 minutes! If that doesn't scream amazing customer service I don't know what does, called them up to explain a easy mistake was made and the reply was so pleasant and made me feel so at ease, went back to devouring my best Indian meal I've had, these guys really don't mess about they cook they're food to extremely good standards and pride themselves in quality, taste and freshness. Seriously seriously worth every penny this is the kind of food that makes me want to just give them more than they charge, thankyou again for your hard work and consist food!

The guys serve the tastiest curry in Wokingham. We've tried them all and they always deliver dishes packed with flavour. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Eaten in and had takeaways from here. The food is always excellent, especially the specials. The Maharashtran, Roshan Murgh Tikka, dish is absolutely amazing. Best tasting food from Indian restaurant I've ever eaten at. 5/5 every time.

Ate here with a group of friends last night and we were very impressed with the quality of food. Wokingham is blessed with some fantastic curry houses but I think I've found my new favourite in Boishakhi. The staff were attentive and the lamb passanda delicious!

The new(?) menu is a bit different compared to the last one but the food is still great... the only negative aspect being they need to bring the decor of the restaurant out of the 1980s and into the 2020s
