Overpriced and unimaginative. We were a group. Our "buffet" was unimaginative and frankly not worth the price. It worked out at £5 per item - some of which were half portions. Plus they had the bar profits.

We had a Saturday lunchtime meal - and there was 20 of us in our party! Not a problem for The Pheasant - friendly greeting when we arrived, and our large table was waiting and ready for us. All the food we ordered came out quickly, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Lots of people in our party said they'd come back - especially just for the chocolate brownie! Thank you for a relaxing lunch!

Had lunch with the U3AC walking group on 26th September, ordered Lentil Ratatouille for £9.50 and a pint of orange and lemonade. The bill came to £22.60 which I queried when paying but was told that was correct. (normally pay around £12 for lunch and this drink). On reviewing the menu prices at home I phoned up to speak to the manager who apologised and said their was a main course at £17.50 and they'd assumed that was what was ordered. He said he would issue a credit, well I provided my card details on more than one occasion and have called multiple times and have been promised a credit but nothing has materialised as at 23rd October. The price of the meal and a modest drink is extremely expensive. The U3AC won't be coming back and disappointed they are unable to keep their promises.

Great menu and wonderful service. We went for a 3 course Saturday evening meal with family. Very dog friendly. Dogs are allowed on the pub / restaurant, and are welcome. Amazing food, shame about the customer service. We arrived at the bar which wasn't busy, the young girl didn't even acknowledge us standing there which we were there a good few minutes, then another young girl came behind the bar still no acknowledgement, just talking to each other, eventually taken to the table, after a few minutes a nice gentleman came & took our drinks order, then on returning with our drinks he took our food order. The food looked amazing & tasted great, shame there was no check back during the meal to see if everything was ok or when the plates were cleared, the young girl didn't ask if everything was ok or did we want more drinks??? Shame the young girls let the pub down, everyone has to learn but a smile & a hello costs nothing.

The food is always excellent here. Pie night on Wednesday is a choice of beef, pork or veggie and is hearty and tasty. The normal menu has good fish and chips and a burger. A delightfully traditional pub with a contemporary menu. We stopped in here for lunch one weekday during the summer holidays. We were able to park in the car park. Luckily we arrived and ordered just before a large party with children arrived for lunch. The blackboards advertised a regular quiz night (also happens to be on pie night), a "bring your own vinyl" night and other speciality nights. There were two lunch menus; a sandwich menu and cooked meal menu, both of which cater for every taste. The barmen were happy to chat and served us quickly. My brother was pleased as he was able to get one of his favourite beers on tap. The best bit for me? Seeing a dartboard, packs of playing cards and dominoes to play with. As we left we realised there was a large beer garden out the back. Will certainly be going back again.

My Birthday surprise was a meal with all My friends and family.. in many ways was ruined by the embarrassment of the service and the food or lack of it. Where do I start !! Portion sizes were ludicrous across the board we were all still hungry after the main course.. the burgers were pretty basic with no trimmings and they had run out of burger buns so they were using gluten free ones which from experience being gluten free myself are a poor substitute .The salmon was probably the worst portion size just a small cup of rice served with the salmon and a leaf in a pudding bowl. Two thirds of the party had to change their choice of main course and puddings as they had run out . Service was also poor waiting for spoons after our pudding were bought up and having to remind them several times.Coffees were also cold. Overall they are charging top prices for very basic food. This pub seems to have taken a nose dive since I last went there in the summer and had a lovely Sunday Lunch. Basically we won’t be going back there in a hurry. Ashame as once it was a good pub.!!!!

Well it's grown in the last 10 years and now has a fantastic outdoor terrace on three levels with a huge flat grassed garden area to accommodate far more people than I can remember. The structure is in place with a new kitchen and store, yet still limited car parking and toilets only on the lower level. Disabled access to the outside is easy and a great feature. Bar looks exactly the same as it did 50 years ago but the extension has made the potential for a really good sized restaurant. Can't wait to see what they do with the menu as it is the same as the Woodman and needs jazzing up with some feature dishes

What a great shame the locals have decided to boycott this great pub. Do they not realise if they don’t use the pub they will loose it. When I visited the Pheasant with friends there were only four people in there as didn’t stay long. For a Friday night that is sad. We still had a great evening..In this economic climate it’s hard enough for landlords to stay afloat, even with local support.. What more can I say

Went for lunch on a Tuesday. We were just after 1.30pm and were almost alone, save for a local at the bar. Pie of the Day, Lasagne and Chicken Liver Pate from compact menu were announced as unavailable, so we chose a mushroom Stroganoff but it was sour. Our second choice starter, the tempura prawns, we cooked in batter but not the light tempura style. Wine was lovely from a short but well balanced list. Make sure you get there and order before 2 pm otherwise you will be turned away, vas three people found out today. Cobwebs in the window and on window ornaments were a surprise but the builders were in, making an extension to the dining room next door so perhaps cleaning has been suspended ?

The Pheasant is our local pub and we have been going there regularly ever since we came to the village 12 years ago. It had a change of ownership 2 years ago and inevitably there was a change of ambiance and some problems with cooking staff which has been reflected in the Tripadvisor reviews. For various reasons we have not been in the pub for a while so it was with a little trepidation that I booked a table for ourselves and 7 others! However, we were not disappointed in the least. We have always held the Pheasant's Fish and Chips as the gold standard and so far no one elsewhere has come close. After last evening, The Pheasant still holds that standard. The fish was superb (and large), and the chips were excellent. Three of the party opted for something different and were equally impressed. We have another group of friends coming in a couple of weeks time and I have already booked the table.Well done and thank you.

It was a shame. The food - whitebait starter and rib eye steak were both well cooked but small things let this place down compared to how it used to be. The menu had thin choice of decent mains other than steak. The wine list was very disappointing too. The steak needed steak knives (the waiting staff just forgot) and it took an age to get the wine found and poured. But the food was actually nicely cooked, even if the rib eye was tough. So it was/ is just the small things that let this place down. Bring on a more exciting menu please! And staff who smile and make you feel welcome. Sorry.
