Good service but the quality has gone down hill pretty massively. I've tried twice since the take over and both times I've had really wet, limp and cold chips with either fish with very wet better and a sausage that just didn't taste right. Shame

Since moving nearby this has become my favourite place to grab some food much rather go round and see the smiling faces of the staff than order from a takeaway app, always amazing service and I’ll never complain at the portion sizes I can hardly finish them most days ❤️ keep doing what your doing phat chip 💪🏼

Only came in for some chips for my mum but the lady behind the counter was very helpful and friendly and made sure my order was super quick and efficient. Very tasty food also!

Really disappointed with Phat and Chips . I work very locally to the shop , I enquired about having some chips for the staff . The lady I spoke to last week, was very polite, friendly and as we only have 30 minutes for our lunchtime , and they start at 11.30 am , she was very kind to have the chips ready for 11.30am . We were so happy with the chips , we asked if we could have the same this week. The man who I believe is the owner said he would not have the shop open till 12 pm ,I messaged on Business messenger account from Facebook, asking politely if we could have chips ready for 12pm . They were not ready . He then sent me a blunt message saying not to use messenger to ask for food , and that I needed to use Just Eats or Deliver Roo. I was not going to do that , when the Chip shop is yards away. The Manager then proceeded to come to my place of work and complain about me , as I said that he had bad customer service Skills . Really a shame as I would not recommend the Shop to anyone and I certainly would not use their see again. The previous owners were amazing. The costumers were assured we would get the same excellent service. Not the case at all .

A decent chippy, sometimes hit and miss like most other chippies. Fish is always great, the chips can sometimes not be as good as other times although preference could be a factor here lol. All around not a bad little chippy.

Giant fish with really good potato fritters. Excellent banana blossom with lemon as well. Kids loved the scampi. But honestly, the giant fish should be labelled as such. I'm nearly sure it was a whale!

We went for fish and chips to this place for tue first time, weren’t sure what to expect, but we can’t praise it highly enough. The service was excellent, premises clean and and food was wonderful. We will be seeing you again! Thank you!

Absolutely banging fish & chips - we had fish chips and battered sausage and were completely blown away - the cod is simply to die for ! The new owner is a lovely young man and should be proud of himself for what he’s done to this place . Also Irish curry sauce was such a pleasant surprise - we hope to see the place excel . The customer service from this restaurant is easily 5 stars!!! After just eat messed up my order and the way that this restaurant dealt with it was exemplary they called me numerous times and went above and beyond to help resolve an issue which was not there doing you just don't get that level of customer service from other places . This was my first time ordering from them and most definitely will not be my last . Thank u to the phat chip company for your help and assistance it was much appreciated ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The place is excellent since being under new management. Fish and chips is excellent now and i highly recommend the pineapple fritter. If you haven’t been before, or haven’t been since it got taken over about a month go then get down there! The staff are lovely too. Clean and friendly service. MUCH better than it used to be.

Completely gone downhill since mick and Carla left. Yesterday we had reheated chips. They tasted vile Today chicken chunks that were cheap nuggets, a large battered sausage that looked and tasted vile, even salad cream didn’t make it taste any better, my son was nearly sick and a pea fritter so oily couldn’t be eaten. Small portion of chips the size of a cone. Won’t be going back there again in a hurry. Definitely not remediated as owners saying. Always empty now when I go past.

Phat Chip back to being terrible again it seems. Greasy chips wrapped in 1 sheet of paper only, wrong side order and no salt and vinegar offered. Bloke before me was given the wrong order too. Girl serving was clearly overwhelmed and undertrained and rather rude to another customer.

Nice but incompetent staff. Let the people in front of us have a student discount, then told us they didn’t do the discount anymore. Food was average, chips alright, cheesy garlic bread soggy. Were told the pie would be a 15minute wait.

Definitely the best chips I've ever had. I've been multiple times now and every time food is delicious and never fails to impress. The staff are so lovely and friendly, such a wonderful place. Thank you so much Edit: Really miss all the vegan and vegetarian options as they don't do them anymore - but they must not have been selling well. Still come by regularly for your chips tho and still love this place

Best I've had in many a year. Big portion and done in dripping. Travelled a couple of miles for it and was worth it and I will go again even though I have one a hundred yards away!

We can't recommend The Phat Chip Company enough! Definitely a 5 star from us! We ordered fish and chips for our regular fish and chip night at our retirement complex, after trying others in the area and they were by far the best! The food was delicious and the customer service was second to none, very friendly and helpful. The portions were generous and great value. The cleanliness of the shop was very impressive. We would definitely recommend the fish and chips, steak and kidney pie, mushy peas and curry sauce. We will definitely return :) Thankyou

Great chippy with an abundance of vegan options! They have new management and it's amazing. As of Feb 2024, the management stated that they would no longer be providing vegan options on their menu for various reasons. Shame! We've lost a real gem of a place for those with dietary requirements etc.

Fantastic fish and chip shop down Lodge Road that serve some of the best in Southampton (including vegan chips). Lovely owners and lovely food, highly recommended.

I’ve been a couple of times since the management changed, lovely welcoming staff. The chips are decent and the pea fritters are awesome. I haven’t had fish from them yet but the batter looks good.

The new owners are absolutely amazing! 😊 Their customer service is always a 100 out of 10! The food is always fresh and up to standards. I never worry when I come here and can always rely on the quality. The portion size is big which is a massive plus! You know that you will be getting your moneys worth, just make sure you haven't eaten anything all day 😅😂 There is quite a huge range of vegan options to satisfy your cavings 😅👌

Gosh what a turnaround! Finally a place to buy decent fish and chips again. The new owners are very accomodating. The food we had was fantastic, good value, the shop was clean and tidy. They have a great new menu as well as traditional fish and chips. As a family of 4 we enjoyed fish & chips, pea and pineapple fritters and a cheeky cheese and Jalapeno fritters, all if which were cooked well and tasted great and not greasy.

Hot and fresh, good quality food and great owners. Uber eats royally messed up so I went to them in person and they couldn’t do enough to rectify Ubers mistake. Best chips in Hampshire! Plus their jackets are banging!

This chippy has really turned around under the new owners. The freshly cooked fish and bountiful chips are amazing and they have really expanded the menu to include burgers and plenty of vegan options. Couple that with a very friendly set of staff and very active social media engagement and this place is a winner. If you've not been here since roughly the start of November 2023 then you've not experienced the Phat Chip as it is today.

Went there specially for the Vegan Fish and Chips, wasn't disappointed. My friends had the Regular fish and chips and both were superb. Both types are highly recommend 💚

The new owners have turned this business round 180°. They work so hard and make every effort towards excellence in food quality, hygiene and customer satisfaction. Google say they cannot remove old negative reviews which were posted about the PREVIOUS (bad) owners. These are damaging Mick and Carlas splendid efforts! Don't let these put you off. One try of this perfect chippie will have you convinced!

Had some food from here after the new owners took over recently and it was amazing! Good portions, cooked well and guaranteed that their vegan food (which they have an extensive menu of as well as their meat and fish options) is cooked separately to animal products. Staff were so friendly too. Will definitely be back for more.

Incredible vegan menu - so much choice! Portion sizes are large and we ended up with so much food but it was all delicious! Well worth the 40 minute drive to visit and will definitely return 😊

Really clean and friendly chippy with an extensive menu including rare treats such as battered creme egg, battered mars bar, cheese and jalapeno fritter etc. Friendly staff, good prices, good portions. The vegan menu is excellent too. I recommend the cheese and jalapeno fritter - crack it open and dip your chips in the melted cheese! They even do a vegan version as well.

Brilliant shop, brilliant owners/workers. Food was fab and hit the spot and ended up getting enough food to feed the 5000! But don’t regret it one bit food was amazing especially the pizza crunch, would make the trip back just for those! Would highly recommend if you fancy a proper chippy dinner served by lovely people.

I am working in Southampton staying at the Travelodge and a Guest told me I must try out the Phat Chip CO its only a few minutes walk from the Hotel , I got a lovely warm welcome , I had the Large Cod and Chips the Portion was Very generous, and it Taste Lovely, I am from London and I can honestly say the Phat Chip Co can give some of the London Chip shop a run for their Money I highly recommend the Phat Chip Co its a Must try to anyone who haven't been yet Lennox

Looked online to see if it was still open, in which it said it shuts at 10 today and so I took a walk to the phat chip - just to see it’s shut. This was well well before 10. Family left very disappointed. Times need to be changed online.

As soon as we arrived myself and my partner were greeted with friendly faces asking if they could be of any assistance due to being a wheelchair user, was happy to help in anyway possible. Food was delicious very generous with their portion size. Very nice people, glad to have our local chippy back with much improved food and friendly management. Will definitely be returning

First time there ,met the owner, very friendly we spoke about vegan range which seems to be going mad on Facebook and the large cod the biggest I've seen you won't be disappointed and the family boxes on a Sunday they do , nothing was to much trouble for the owner she even gave us some free bits as closing, clean , friendly and good value, lovely tasty food definitely will be returning

From the moment we entered the staff greeted us and were very attentive throughout our visit. Great customer service and food selection. Food was good but I've also had better, still would recommend though. I feel personal preference on how you like your chips is important when finding your favorite local. Overall 4.3 out of 5 👍🏼

This shop was taken over as of late 2023 and it is sooo much better! I'm saddened to see the old reviews bringing it down because the new management are honestly so lovely and care deeply about their customers and business. Even better- they care for and cater for vegans!! They have so many options and all so far I've tried have been delicious! (Even the vegan mac and cheese, and I make a mean mac and cheese so I was dubious at first haha but love it!) If I can offer any feedback I would say to consider adding a sheet of seaweed to the vegan fish as a sort of "skin" as it massively improves and adds to the fish taste!
