The room was beautiful new design. Our window had a big gap in it making ot very cold at night and on checkin the room was freezing. The girl Di Shank at check in gave us the option of floors to chose. The breakfast was excellent. English Full breakfast. The man at breakfast, Jaison did an excellent job cleaning the tables and providing excellent service. The free coffee machine and biscuits and cakes in the foyer was nice also.

After a year, I returned to the same hotel, and I was delighted to see that Jaison Antao still oversees the property with the same dedication and care. His leadership was evident in every detail – from the pristine facilities to the attentive staff, all reflecting his high standards. Jaison personally ensured my stay was comfortable, even remembering small details from my last visit that made me feel truly special. His approach and genuine passion for hospitality made this trip even more memorable than the last. It’s clear the hotel thrives under his watchful eye, and I can’t wait to return!

Pros: Wonderful, warm and friendly staff - going the extra mile to make my stay comfortable and memorable. Room itself was clean, well maintained and inoffensively decorated in neutral tones. Body lotion available on request. Lovely views of the water and cruise ships. Breakfast was excellent with a decent variety of hot and cold options. Good coffee from the machine which is always a plus. Easy parking right in front and walking distance to shops, restaurants etc. Room service available. Cons: no gym, pool and spa still closed. Lots of renovation works underway with loud intermittent drilling - fortunately I was away most of the day. Slow lifts (seems to be common here on the south coast!). Wifi dropped intermittently. Overall I would definitely stay here again if they reopened the gym and pool. Otherwise its not a bad stay but definitely a solid 3* rather than 4* hotel without the gym and pool.

Had a rare day off between jobs so thought I'd treat myself to a nice quiet day with a harbour view to chill out. Nowhere on their booking does it mention that between 8am and 5pm there is constant banging, drilling and hammering and loud workers renovating the hotel. Complete waste of money and a precious day off.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn , Southampton before the start of our cruise. It was close to the Horizon terminal where we boarded our ship, so it was very convenient. Two outstanding staff deserves mention- Karl who manned the check in area and Chin , the server in the hotel’s restaurant and was also responsible for cleaning the tables. Karl was very helpful sorting out problems in our room and Chin was very pleasant and helpful answering our questions related to the restaurant. Another person Joseph who also worked in the restaurant was also very informative with our questions. I would highly recommend this hotel for its proximity to the terminal, the Old Fort , the West Quay shopping center and the helpful staff.

Though the outside of this hotel looks a bit dated, the rooms were nicely renovated and the staff was very helpful. It was a great place to start close to shopping and some good restaurants. The perfect spot for catching a cruise ship or perhaps a longer stay.

Arrived 2 days prior to cruise departure. Checked in 1:30 PM, room was ready, first floor. Rainy day so ate dinner at hotel (after long nap). Food was excellent. Service too. Breakfast also excellent. Wait staff friendly and prompt (Jaylen, Jamie and Chin). Front desk folks responsive and helpful ( recommended we reserve cab day ahead to get our group of 4 plus bags to berth 46–sound advice, used their cab hotline).

Stayed for business a couple of times. Once was during a busy period in August when there was a lot of cruise guest, second time just after the school holidays and luckily before the boat show hits town! Standard IHG Holiday Inn in terms of great service from the staff and general hotel policies. Unlike some chains that are carbon copies, IHG is a variety of franchised properties so they can vary quite a lot in looks and design of both the premises, rooms and restaurants where attached. Good things about the rooms are charging sockets by the bed, most of the main plug sockets have USB-A charging points, fairly spacious (even for the standard “queen” style room,) aircon works plus there’s a window you can open, bathrooms are fairly modern, and the linen is the go to Holiday Inn standard so a choice of pillows and fairly comfortable beds. Bad points if I had to be picky, some of the room carpets are old and worn and some of the main room doors are clunky and squeaky. Rooms where the shower is over the bath there are no handrails at all for stepping out - at least in the rooms I’ve stayed in. When the hotel is busy the wait for lifts is long at peak times so if you are able bodied use the stairs to go down (and to go up - only if you’re very fit!) There’s only 2 lifts and this is a hotel that’s higher than wider so it’s (I think) 9 floors at least. Also the lifts are small so only hold about 4-5 adults especially when there’s luggage. At peak times the lifts will hit the weight limits and go on bypass so you can stand on a floor and the lift will go up and down and never stop at your level! Attached restaurant is fine. Usual buffet style breakfast and a dinner menu with the common options you’d expect. All the staff are brilliant. Sorry I can’t remember everyone’s names but special mention to Simmi who is the queen of the breakfast period, always rushing around making sure everything is up to scratch and she remembers many of the guests and their preferences. Also for Alin whose dinner service is impeccable, such a keen eye for detail and quick to spot issues. That’s not to detract from the other staff who are also super friendly and efficient. For front desk a special mention to Karl and José as well, 2 top guys. Location is great for cruises and Southampton in general, close to everything including West Quay shopping. Hotel parking can get busy but is a safe well lit space. Would stay again. (Review also cross posted to Trip Advisor)

We stopped over here for one night before boarding our cruiseship today. Location is great and up the road from all the restaurants and shops. The staff are really excellent here. Simmi deserves special mention as she was the first person we met. She assisted with luggage, getting a small snack for our 19 month old daughter and just made one feel fully at home. She is a massive asset to your hotel.

Perfect if you take a cruise! The port is a 5-minute walk away (in the photo you can see how close it is). Jose, made our stay very special 🥹. We told him we were on our honeymoon and he was very excited. My husband and I went out to see Southampton, when we returned to the room we had a box of Ferrero Rocher and a card written and signed by Jose, congratulating us on our honeymoon. For us, this is hospitality. Everything was very good, we give it 4 stars because we think they need another elevator (there are two), a little more staff and we thought it was a little expensive. The service is very A+!

My daughter had her wedding reception here on 7/9/2024. From the event organiser to the dj everything was great. The welcome on the evening before to set out the decorations etc was fantastic. I was able to join my daughter for breakfast the morning of the wedding for a cost of £16.95, which well worth it. She had a room with her small son in which we all got ready in. When arrived back from the ceremony they were very welcoming with lots of congratulations, even the lights and candles had been switched on. The food and service was great. The DJ was good and the whole day went along smoothly and lovely. At the end of the night my husband and I had booked a family room as we had our grandson with us for the night. Room was spacious with great view. A very special thank you to Josey on reception for being polite, friendly and giving my grandson some sweets. Warren who cleaned the danced floor for many hours and who switched the light on in the reception. Also the young man who ran the bar mostly on his own and even served at breakfast time and reception time. Last but not least the manager who organized the smoothness of the afternoon and evening and who was also at breakfast the following morning. The only issue we had was the extortionate price of drinks at the bar for the wedding, £30 for a bottle of Rose wine?? Can of Doom bar for £6?? etc. All in all though it was a wonderful day that was organized very efficiently. Thank you.

The bed was made of stone and utterly uncomfortable. Both of us had a terrible night. The breakfast was somewhat lacking and the coffee was horrible. Even the Starbucks coffee that we got was undrinkable. The service was ok however the chap behind the bar was rude and a total jobs worth, when we were given a couple of free drink vouchers for being kept waiting. Its not as if we asked for a bottle of moet!!!

Perfect place to stay if you are traveling by ship in or out of Southampton. The hotel is within close walking distance of the City Cruise Terminal. Included hot breakfast is a great value with excellent variety. Hotel has a bar in the lobby, and serves Starbucks coffee. They are also happy to store bags for you. Easy pickup/drop-off location for Uber or taxis.

Stayed here for one night after going to see Wicked the musical for my Mum’s 60th. Emailed the hotel to ask if they could do anything in the room and they left balloons, chocolates and a card which was very nice of them. Great nights sleep as the beds are so comfy. Breakfast in the morning was amazing. Always a very good choice of options. Simmi on shift for breakfast was lovely and friendly and always made sure we were happy. Will definitely stay again

Excellent hotel, we always stay here the night before a cruise. Rooms are very spacious with a comfortable bed and great views over the port area. We ate in the restaurant for the first time and were really surprised at the high standard of food served. The location is great to view the port area and very close to the shopping centre. Last but not least the staff are very pleasant and helpful and the dining room staff could have been more helpful. Already booked again for September.

The room was spotless, well appointed, and with a cracking harbour view. We didn't dine at the hotel, but we enjoyed a few drinks in the bar, which were reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent. Self service, but good quality and excellent choice. We will definitely stay here again, for our next cruise.

Really loverly stay, as a gluten and wheatfree person is always worrying, however I was looked after by Simmi and Jaisom and the service and expertise was excellent, they were both very helpful so sort out my food, they were very friendly and nothing was to much hassle, there are lots of brillent staff here, but I feel these two staff deserve extra praise as they totally put my worry about my food at ease and ensured that my food was safe fir me to have, please could some one from the company pass my thanks and praise on too these two members of staff for going above and beyond 5 star 🌟 and well deserved.

Great one night stay. Room was really nice and clean. The highlight was the breakfast. Excellent choice and staff very friendly and organized. I am vegetarian and also Gluten free and they couldn't do enough to help me. Simmi was my server and she was excellent, extremely professional and friendly and kept coming over to check on me. She wrote down what I wanted/could eat and then served me a wonderful gf/veggie breakfast. Well done Simmi and thank you :)

Great proximity to the Cruise Ship ports (1km walking distance to the Mayflower Terminal if you’re on the QM2). Rooms are great and as a platinum member I did get an upgrade but no late check out. Be aware - the reception / downstairs area gets *extremely* busy on cruise ship changeover days with people waiting to board ship but also people who have disembarked the ships and are waiting for their rooms to be ready (thus no late check out) but the hotel allowed us to take over the restaurant cafe area and were still selling coffee etc.

I am disabled and use a large mobility scooter. I was looking for a good breakfast in the City Centre at about 6:30am on a Bank Holiday Monday - not an easy task. I selected the Holiday Inn partly for nostalgic reasons as I had last stayed here, 17 years ago on the night before my wedding. I had previously been refused entry to a nearby, supposedly 4* hotel on the grounds that I was a non-resident. They thus lost a little bit of business. The staff at the Holliday Inn were wonderful: professional, friendly, and dealt with me and my disabilities with care and dignity. I would like to particularly thank Sammi, the breakfast supervisor. She fetched and carried my breakfast to me in the coffee bar rather than my scooter the restaurant area. A good solution for the hotel and one that for me gave me a peaceful place to read the news and do some “work” at my iPad. I would whole heartedly recommend the Holliday Inn, Southampton.

The room was spacious and had been recently refurbished. Only one of the two lifts was operational throughout our stay. This resulted in lots of time lost waiting to go up or down and queues often forming. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice. We did not use the restaurant in the evening however I did pop to the bar for a couple of drinks on one of the nights - it was manned by one person most of the time in the evening and again found myself queuing for something I should not have to. We will be in Southampton again in a few weeks, reluctantly not opting to stay at this property.

Positives: Location is convenient for access and close to amenities. Customer service of a Restaurant Manager during breakfast on 7th March who received feedback with grace and took care of the complaint. Negatives: unfortunately there are many. 1 working lift for a hotel this size. Simply unacceptable. No advance acknowledgement or proactive apology for inconvenience. Have seen many guests taking matters into own hands and walking up the stairs but what about those with children or ♿️ needs? Attitude of check in staff. Had requested a quiet room at time of booking. No acknowledgement from staff at check in and was subsequently given a room by the said overused lift. When I brought issue to attention, the same agent was indifferent, too busy issuing a complimentary parking pass. The following day at breakfast, was told that I needed to pay a higher charge for breakfast because I did not purchase after check in. But I was never told this. The room itself was in poor condition. Bad smell upon walking in. Heavily stained carpet. Common areas of hotel were littered with dirty dishes and takeaway containers left out by guests. Unhygienic. They were still not cleaned after a whole day.

Friendly hotel staff and service. The hotel is within walking distance of the cruise terminals, and many of the rooms have a view of the port. Decent breakfast and late night snack.

wonderful location and view from the window right on the liner! nice dinner and good breakfast, but the windows in the room are a bit dirty. Thanks to the staff for their hospitality, the girls at the reception were friendly and thanks to Simmi who made sure our breakfast was great.

An overnight stay with a cruise package. Given the price of CPS parking I really can't fault Holiday Inn prices. Comfortable room, with a lovely view over the river. Nice breakfast made even better by the attentive Simmi who was very professional.

Great value £186 for a large room, included breakfast, 15 days parking, and return taxis to cruise port. The hotel staff were very attentive, breakfast and dinner meals were very good, and bar service spot on. Not the must attractive looking building on the outside, but staff and rooms makeup for that.. Hotel had 1 new lift installed and ongoing work installing a second.

Spent just under 30 pounds on a food place I use to love, this order was terrible and inedible, food was cold considering i live 8 minutes away aswell its a complete joke and definitely should not be this cold. (onion&mushroom bajjis, half tandoori chicken, naan, rice all cold. the lamb tikka was the worst I've ever had! Chips was like they was still frozen! The only thing a little warm was the chicken tikka massala. And to top it off it was the first time my partner trying his first Indian which was embarrassing safe to say he won't have one ever again. This place use to be great now it's disgusting

Small lebanese restaurant next to highfield. We tried the lentil soup which was ok. Underseasoned and watered down. Also had mutabbal and hummus which both tasted like they were bought from a nearby store and rather old. Hummus was missing tahina and was just mashed chickpeas with very low quality oil. Chicken was not consistently cooked some were over some were under and all very bland. Cost around 50 pounds to feed 4 people

Firstly in their defence it was a Saturday night and very busy, we had phoned a week earlier for a table for 4 but they had over booked and we were left standing at the entrance whilst they performed headless chickens. Eventually sat us at a table for 20 mins with no drinks or menus then tried to take our order lol. Some but not all the food had disappointing flavour and parts of the order were missing but we were not charged for the missing dishes 👍 Thats why 3 stars. Hope this helps 🤞
