I have eaten at the Peach Tree numerous times before and have always had good experiences. However our recent tip couldn’t have been more different; the food was cold, the menu was significantly shorter than it was previously, and service was slow. A shame as we used to love coming here

The Peach Tree used to be one of our favourite places to go for a coffee whilst out and about in the area. I say 'used to' because the last 3 times have been very disappointing - on each occasion, the 3 different team members got our order wrong, and one young man even argued, Our final visit was one late morning ... I visited the ground floor ladies' toilet to find that only 1 of the 3 cubicles was equipped with a toilet roll, no excuse for this!

We had a guest from Germany staying with us and she wanted to experience Afternoon Tea. Not realising that these are very sought after and need to be booked very much in advance and the only one we could find available was here with 48 hrs in advance. So we booked it with Adam (apparently the Manager) for 3 of us and paid £30 deposit. We arrived at the door on time only to be told that the kitchen was closed for renovations!! The young barman was very embarrassed telling us that there was nothing in the book for that day and didn't know what to say to us. He tried to get Adam, the Manager on the phone but no answer but said that he would get him to call us when he came in later that evening for his shift. Needless to say we did not receive a call back!! So the next day having not had a call by lunchtime, I rang myself to talk to Adam. His first words were "OMG .... excuse me I am eating a biscuit!" I waited and asked for my deposit back and why had he taken my deposit knowing full well that the kitchen was closed? He replied that the kitchen was not closed and also that he could not do a refund but would I like to re-book! I dont think so!! He said he would have to get head office to approve a refund and if I came in at 1pm a few days later he would be there to issue a refund. We turned up at the time he suggested only to find he was NOT there!! I told the very embarrassed bar staff who didn't know anything about it and that I would not leave until I got my deposit back. They tried to call Adam and another Manager but no replies!! Eventually one of the young girl bar staff took the cash out of the till and gave it to me. Needless to say we will NEVER ever go back and or will we ever recommend!! We hope the owner(s) read this!!!

Terrible experience! I booked Sunday lunch a week before hand and was told the my booking had gone both on their computer booking system and in their restaurant diary. They took my name and telephone number. We turned up as booked for our 13.30 Sunday lunch booking only to be told that they weren't doing Sunday lunches this week! I asked why they hadn't informed me and they tried a few feeble excuses. The woman tried to be helpful offering us sandwiches! The man however (manager?) was most unhelpful, non apologetic and disappeared as quickly as possible! Never had quite such a poor restaurant experience. We left feeling put out (and very hungry) and headed up the road to the Dun Cow pub where we were treated really well by friendly and helpful staff. This was followed up with an excellent Sunday lunch just 15 minutes later! I would give the Dunn Cow 5 stars and the Peach Tree minus 5!

The brunch menu had a tantalising choice for us all. The kids food was adapted to our children’s wants. The girls serving were very attentive & nothing was too much trouble! Also looked at their adjoining venues to book a big party in a few months time . Three venues side by side & connected at the rear, all very different but beautiful! Would definitely recommend checking them out if you want a party venue

We booked an afternoon tea yesterday for my friends 30th birthday. When we arrived we stood by the door and were completely ignored. We went to the bar and was told someone would be with us shortly . About 10 mins later we were asked what we wanted and I said we had booked the afternoon tea. We were told to grab a couple of menus and go and pick a seat. We were confused about why we needed a menu because there wasn't an afternoon tea option on it. We waited for about 20 minutes (the room was absolutely freezing with the air con on) and saw the male waiter go and serve the table in the corner. (There was only that table and our table in the restaurant). He went and collected their drinks and said he would be with us shortly . A female came over wearing a hoodie and leggings and asked us what we would like. I said we had booked to come for an afternoon tea and she said "oh I haven't come to take yours" and went to the table in the corner. They told her they had already ordered and she then walked away, straight past us again. I asked her what was going on , she said "I haven't got a clue but I'll ask him". The male waiter came back and served the other table again, on the way back i asked him if he was going to see to us and he said he would check . He came back through and said the order had gone through to the kitchen. We weren't asked if we had any allergies etc. He then walked off and came back a short time after asking what drinks we wanted. A short time after that our food came, which was ok in fairness. We weren't offered any plates so had to use the saucer from the drinks. Nobody checked on us throughout to see if everything was OK with the food or if we wanted anything else. I feel we would have better service at mcdonalds . The peach tree used to have a great reputation but I feel it's gone massively down hill. The staff looked as though they had just been dragged in off the street if I'm being honest.

I was looking forward to going again to this lovely restaurant after an amazing Christmas dinner last year. Being vegan they really pulled it out of the bag! However I was recently there for an afternoon tea & all I can say is how poor it was in comparison to my previous experience. The vegan afternoon tea was very disappointing It looked like someone had been to the supermarket grabbed a couple of bagels & some fake meat & served it with some salad (the smallest I’ve ever seen!) with some packet cheap cakes too! Lack of thought showed & the service was not much better either! No decaf coffee or alternative milks also! Such a different experience this time around. I was someone’s guest otherwise I would have refused to pay for it. Wish I had taken pictures to post how poor it was! Everyone else’s looked absolutely amazing! Which made it even worse that mine was tasteless & lacking. In today’s world veganism is main stream now & this restaurant clearly needs to put more thought into customers ( we pay good money to eat there!!) dietary requirements! Sad to say I wont be going there again or would recommend it to any vegans either! What I would recommend is maybe the staff take some customer service training too! When people ask for specific things it could be due to health reasons & they would be well to remember that! Such a disappointment if something I was really looking forward to

A lovely building, but let down by appalling service. We were a party of 7 for afternoon tea and the exprience couldn't have Been any worse. We sat down at 1pm and were not offered any drinks. The afternoon tea plates came at 115 but with no tea. At 130 we asked for the tea which eventually arrived at 145 with no sugar. The milk was on the turn and started floating on the tea. This is where it got really bad. There was nobody at the bar, so to find a waitress we even tried to ring the venue using mobile phones but no answer. We wanted more drinks including wine or champagne as this was a celebration but nobody was anywhere to be seen. During this time we also saw people walk in and wait and walk out again. Eventually we just decided to pay and leave and the glass of water we asked for nearly two hours before suddenly appeared in a warm glass. Needless to say we left no tip and won't return. Such a shame but such poor service.

Booked afternoon tea for 18 people for my daughters hen party. Service was poor had to ask for milk for the tea and an extra place because they had forgot one so not sure if we were given the food for this extra person. Scones were lovely however the cakes looked like shop bought traybakes cut into squares. Asked for cocktails to be told they could only do one type. Staff were very pleasant but didn't seem to know much about serving customers in the catering business. I won't be rushing back sadly it doesn't seem up to the standard of the previous owners.

Thought we had booked for dinner as they had accepted a telephone reservation for 6:15pm. Got there, no record of the booking and only a brunch menu available as they had a private party on in their adjoining venue. We had very little choice than to stay and have brunch as were attending a gig at the Abbey over the road within the hour. Where to start. Two breakfasts, without the advertised mushrooms, no butter for the toast - we had to ask, had to get salt and pepper from other tables - none on ours. Young new staff who clearly had had very little or no training and who other staff were quick to blame for the shoddy service. Don't BLAME them, TRAIN them. Very poor dining experience which we made clear and staff were very apologetic. Doubt very much we'll be returning. And my Madri tasted odd.

We were bought the afternoon tea as a Christmas gift from our daughter and son in law. The day was wet , not easy to park but oh was it worth it. The service was excellent and the food seemed freshly made. Far to much for us to eat and asked if we could take the rest away.”No trouble” it was all boxed up lovely and ready for us to graze for the remainder of the evening. I don’t normally leave reviews but was so impressed I felt the need to have my say. After reading other reviews I was a little dubious what to expect. The young lady serving us was both courteous, considerate and helpful. Full marks all round.

My girlfriend had her baby shower here. They charged £250 for this. This was for 30 people. Some of the people who came weren’t given any food and everyone else who did have food left hungry. When asked for more food my girlfriend was told this was enough. The plates were dirty and the area wasn’t clean on arrival. Since the day my girlfriend explained the situation to management and asked if her friends that had no food could have their money back. She was told no and that the issue was resolved on the day. It wasn’t. On an occasion such as this the last thing my partner wanted to do was worry about whether guests had enough food and make complaints to staff when they didn’t. I would not recommend anyone to go to the peach tree. 1. For the value for money and 2. For the manner in which a complaint was dealt with afterwards.

Having had many excellent meals before, in The Peach Tree, we went here for lunch today. Despite arriving at 12.15, 30 minutes after breakfast service should have ended, the breakfast menu was all that was available. The initial waitress was terrible (others were better), and I wished we had left then. My breakfast was very average. 3 mushrooms, baked beans heated up a while ago. I asked where the "artisan bread" came from, and I was told what I suspected. A supermarket white sliced loaf! My partner's poached eggs were overcooked. We could have gone to Wetherspoons, and got a better breakfast for a fraction of the cost.

This should have been a special afternoon tea for my God Daughter/her baby shower. The food was inadequate in quality and quantity (one small cake stand between 8 people) the hygiene standards were poor (glasses cutlery and plates poorly washed with dried on food). Really disappointed with my experience at the Peach tree today. After visiting for an afternoon tea in January with friends where I was very impressed with both the food and the service I booked an afternoon tea for a special occasion with family to celebrate. Unfortunately the experience this time round was unsatisfactory both in service and food. We were seated for 15 minutes before we were told that there was a drinks station to make your own tea and coffee (last time less than 2 months ago this was not the case and you would order drinks with staff who would then bring it to your table). This was disappointing as the idea of an afternoon tea is that it is a special occasion and you do not want to have to leave your table to serve yourself. Almost three quarters of an hour after arriving to our booking we still had not been told any information about the afternoon tea so I went to the bar where I was ignored by staff who were talking to eachother. I was then told it was in the kitchen and will be delivered shortly. However when it did arrive we were very disappointed as the selection of cakes, for example the millionaire squares, chocolate brownie and cupcakes were like they were from a box you could get for cheap in a supermarket or home bargains over the road. I was really disappointed to spend almost £80 on something that was meant to be a treat for a special occasion for it to be such an embarrassment for myself for recommending it. I would therefore not recommend this for afternoon tea as it is potluck if you have a good experience or not both in terms of food and service as today was very poor.

This remains to this day the only time I've ever walked out of a restaraunt. We went in with high expectations due to the reviews and the look of the menu which seems great. We sat down to be immediately told they weren't actually running the Saturday night menu because they didn't want to confuse the chefs. We were understanding if confused so proceeded to order 3 courses.....we were then told they couldn't provide desserts but gave no reason so we order 2 of The Cocktail as a starter. The caviar, cray fish and prawns sounded enticing but all that turned up was a plate of a prawns and toast. We questioned this to then be told that they had issues ordering crayfish and caviar but forgot to mention it and didn't want to take it off the menu. We then stated we were very displeased and had a poor experience so we wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. The waitress spoke with her manager to then return and say because we'd touched our starters we were going to be charged for them even though we had not even touched them. We were gobsmacked by this and stated that we were not going to pay for a food option that was misrepresented and advertised to us and that we were appalled by the experience on all levels. At no point during this did the manager come over to enquire about our experience and it stays to this day as my worst restaraunt experience to date. DO NOT GO!!

We went to the Peach Tree for Christmas lunch. Unfortunately it was a disappointment for the following reasons. The food arrived look warm, vegitables undercooked, roast potatoes seemed to have been re-heated from the day before, the gravy was tastless, and the whole dish was unseasoned. The only positive to the meal was that the tutkey was of good quality and tender. Staff were very friendly, however the coffee order was forgotten. The desert however was delicious.

Came for a Christmas lunch. Not many people there. The roast potatoes were very obviously warmed up from last night, tough, dry & tasteless. The food was served luke warm so that by the time we ate half of it, the rest was cold. One ordered steak with jus but no jus came just the gravy the rest of us ordered. Extra gravy great but also luke warm. Eaton ChristMess for desert was very good. I was very disappointed. We came for a group Christmas meal costing £45pp. Although the meal was nice, well cooked and presented, in comparison with a Christmas meal I had a few days previously at a local pub this meal at the Peach Tree was left very much in the shade. We felt we had been ripped off as the pub meal was £19.99pp and was a lot tastier, much more fare on offer, and tasted better. At the Peach Tree we only had two potatoes on the plate, a small amount of veg to share, although we had an ample serving of Turkey. Also, just a small amount of Cranberry sauce to share between us. I had the meringue for sweet, which again was very disappointing. Hardly any cream and a solitary Strawberry on top. The bottom of the meringue was too hard to eat. I had Salmon starter which was very nice, but again a very small serving. It was dwarfed by the huge serving of lettuce as a garnish, and bread. The service wasn’t the best for a restaurant that pretends to be upmarket. One of the male waiters brought my meal and said to me “here you are mate”, as he placed my meal in front of me pushing his way between us as we were in conversation. First of all, I am not his mate, the proper address would been to call me “sir”, So all in all I was very disappointed, and will not be returning as we have been ripped off.

Came here with some work colleagues for a drink. Beautiful place, pleasant staff( here comes the but) but ... As I had never been before I asked to see a drinks/wine menu and was told we don't have one. Secondly we got the distinct impression that our server didn't really know much about what drinks were being served. This could have been due to a number of factors like being new I guess. Thirdly ,the price! £7.50 approx for 125 MLS of wine. This seems very high to me. I appreciate prices are higher these days but I don't feel that this steep price tag was justified for a place on the edge of town and possibly the reason why it was almost completely empty.

We came here for a drink at 4pm on a Sunday night. Wasn't very bussy at all only 1 party table I could see having food. 3 members of staff behind the bar. We ordered a coke and a lint of Madri. The barman poured half the glass of coke and then all members of staff started to have what sounded like a team meeting whilst myself and my wife were stood there waiting still for our drinks. We must of been stood there 5 mins still waiting until they finished talking and then poured the rest of the coke and my pint. To me that is just poor service and rude. Surely once you have taken an order at the bar you serve the customer there drink b4 you start having a meeting or chin wag whatever it was. Also another couple cane in after us and ordered 2 coffees to which they never received. The person complained at the bar but nobody seemed to bothered about it to be honest.

Sadly on Saturday the staff were busy preparing for a private event. I was extremely disappointed to request specific items for brunch due to dietary needs to be served the wrong food. Having brought this to the attention of waiting staff items were removed, but the missing item was not served. When bringing this to the attention of the female manager I was challenged about needing to identify the right waitress, to then be challenged by the waitress about having said I did not want the missing item, which was totally untrue. We went for some food before going to a concert at the Abbey . It's pretty in there and has a nice few outside. I had a chicken Caesar salad for £14 which came without anchovies, loaded with mayonnaise and plain dry chicken bits. We had no opportunity to raise my disappointment due to no staff coming to the table to check on us. We paid at the bar so we could leave, even there the staff was super busy and I felt I wasn't able to mention my disappointment. I have sent an email but haven't had a response . This restaurant had a very good reputation before and we thought we give it a try. I won't be visiting again nor can I recommend it . I don't like leaving bad reviews but I was rather upset about the price for a salad that was just lettuce with loads of mayonnaise and some chicken cubes. ☹️

Have been to this venue so many times over the years and have always had a great time and have never been disappointed. Therefore after much deliberation this review took some courage to write. But for quality improvement, constructive criticism and feedback I felt it was important to document. I must point out that to comment upon a service is extremely rare for me and generally I really appreciate services/hotels/restaurants and acknowledge how hard everyone works to provide a safe and quality service. Last night (6-8.30 ish) I went with a group of friends (9) however I must highlight the review is my experience. The restaurant area was completely empty (except a table having ? Afternoon tea) for all our time there. There appeared a surplus amount of staff on duty and lots standing behind the bar. However the service appeared so very disjointed throughout. The offer advertised at the bar was not available - eventually after some time and other orders I had just requested from friends 1 bottle was located but surely this offer should not be advertised if it is not available. The starter I ordered, hummus was nothing like photos on Facebook and was completely tasteless. My main course of mushroom gnocchi (one of my very favourite dishes) although presented well consisted of “5 small pieces of gnocchi” yet this was surely supposed to be the main advertised ingredient. When it was pointed out, the reply was the chef says there is only ever five because they are large pieces. I do have a small appetite however even in my standards this was appalling and actually the gnocchi itself was really not enjoyable. Teas coffees and hot chocolate all came at different times (with big time gaps in between). I know some friends meals were also not enjoyed however some I know were enjoyed so I will not further comment as I pointed out this is my review. Really disappointing overall experience and meal especially considering the restaurant was basically empty on a Saturday night. Sadly I will not be returning or indeed recommending this venue to others. When there is such strong competition and it is important for customers to have a quality enjoyable service but also feel the service is of value, reviews and recommendations are paramount. Sadly although the company of my friends was fabulous certainly the overall restaurant experience for me was one of the worse ever.

We were able to enjoy the occasion in this well presented room with its historic construction visible behind protective clear sheet (wattle and daube) cruck beams with wood dowels fastening the joints (tree nails). Contrasting with the imaginative modern led lighting. Overall a great experience so do book here.

8 of us came for afternoon tea. It was fantastic! My mother in law had a vegan version and I was extremely jealous! We even came home with left overs. Super impressed and such a great price.

This venue was booked for a Baby Shower, and oh my gosh they were amazing. I damaged the cake on the way in, and the chef stepped in straight away to save it and ensure that it was fixed. The staff were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble for them, from sticky tape to making a separate platter for the pregnant lady to meet her needs. The food was plentiful and amazing. We would not hesitate to recommend the Peach Tree to other who want a venue who really care about their guests.

We visited the peach tree on 4th August for afternoon tea. The food was amazing and fantastic value for money. Extra sandwiches were provided for somebody who wasn’t keen on the selection. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were friendly. We had such a good time that we stayed there for about 11 hours!!!!! Thank you from all of us to all the fantastic staff at The Peach Tree.

Went with a friend for afternoon tea & couldn't really fault it to be honest. It was a lovely sunny afternoon & despite the fact that staff had laid a table for us indoors it was no trouble for them to move us outdoors. Often, when having afternoon tea, I find that there is a huge imbalance between savoury & sweet items with far too many cakes compared to sandwiches. This was not the case here - yes there were lots more cakes but it felt like there were plenty of sandwiches too. All the food was tasty although we both left one of the desserts which was a lime posset and far too sweet for human consumption. I asked for vegetarian sandwiches and that was not an issue. I am not sure what options there would be for vegans though, as many of the cakes would have contained egg. We asked if we could bring the uneaten cakes home with us and it wasn't an issue for staff to package them up for us. There was unlimited tea, coffee and cold water available throughout our visit . Staff were friendly & helpful. I would visit this location for afternoon tea again.

Lovely afternoon sat outside today Owen who attended to us was so lovely, a friendly, attentive young man. Took time not only to check we had everything we needed, but to chat a little. It's that extra time given in a restaurant which can change a whole visit. Owen is certainly an asset.

Sat for 15 minutes wanting coffee. Nobody came to talk. Bar staff talking throughout. Other staff chatting to themselves. Finally had to hassle and they said go to the bar to order. I said this is all too difficult and taking too long. So I went to The Shed nearby. Lovely friendly service, immediate too. Peach Tree you need to up your game

What a lovely spur of the moment lunch. Sat outside enjoying the sun, ordered our drinks which arrived promptly by Owen. Seating was comfy and at no time did we feel we needed to rush our decision for ordering or move on quickly after finishing our drinks and food. Owen felt a few spots of rain on the wind and asked if we wanted the over head awning wound out further…yes and carried out swiftly. Our table of four adults included a vegan. The vegan starter of hummus and olives was bursting with flavour and soon devoured. The mains vegan menu options was a little limiting, however, Owen co-ordinated with the kitchen to provide a wonderfully looking dish of food full of flavour which included tofu and Ramen noodles. The Korean pork and club Dan which were equally enjoyed. We had table service, Owen, whom was helpful, suggestive, clearly customers are truly valued and service with a smile. Meals were super value for money. Without hesitation, we will be returning.

On behalf of our family we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at The Corbet Arms for our Mum's 90th birthday lunch. The team was absolutely amazing and the food was superb. We enjoyed every mouthful and every moment and we were looked after so well. Fantastic service, so well coordinated with all 28 of us eating a beautifully presented, piping hot Sunday lunch at exactly the same time. Thank you for making our Mum's day extra special, not just for her but for everyone in our party.
