Visited Lynmouth using the Exmoor Explorer Bus from Minehead. It was a very chilly day so we needed something to warm us up - two hot chocolates did the trick. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Cost was a little over the usual but the taste made up for it. Service was quick Brilliant views out to sea. An extremely pleasant experience. Will we visit again - definitely

No idea what the food is like. One of the waiting staff was scowling at us from the minute we got in and when she came to clear our table of the previous occupants plates, she told us in no uncertain terms that food and drink bought off the premises was not to be consumed at their tables, I was a bit confused and said yep that's fine, she said I'm just telling you. Then I realised my husband had brought an empty take away coffee cup in. We were going to spend £20 plus on lunch, but we left instead, hey ho. She could have at least said it with a smile on her face. Only rude person we've met this holiday, everyone was lovely.

The Pavilion Dining Rooms is a rather pretentious name for what is a canteen serving school dinners. The wait we had for the food wasn’t worth it and I can’t say I found the staff particularly helpful. The prices were ok but I wouldn’t go back or recommend.

Nice location, staff a bit iffy regarding allergies. Food was ok but to be honest nearly £14 for a crab sandwich plus salad was quite outrageous for a lettuce leaf, onion ring and a bit of shredded carrot, cheap white sliced bread and a bit of crab filler with lots of supermarket mayo. Incredibly disappointing and felt quite robbed!!!!! Nice views 😆 won't go back again. Sorry

As always I will attempt a review which is more factual than opinionated and as such look to share what's good or not so good. Firstly: Location. Excellent. Fantastic views from almost anywhere in the dining area. Also, spacious - which is important as they don't try to cram as many 'seats' into the restaurant. Staff & Service: Can't fault them. Friendly & efficient. Food came out in good time, (not to quick or slow - just right to confirm it was freshly cooked). Food: Very, very nice. I had the fish with new potatoes and salad - cooked perfectly. So......why 3 stars? Surely after waxing lyrical up to now it should be 5 stars? Well, this is the reason. Price & value: The meal I chose was £16.95 and (as stated above was lovely) but was at best a meagre portion. Very meagre - I'm being generous. The fish was perfect but the few new potatoes not enough to feed a mouse and the salad mostly shredded lettuce and not much else. Owners - please take this as 'feedback' and not a complaint. Charging £16.95 is acceptable given you're in Lynmouth, a great location and offer a great service etc etc, but you simply MUST serve a meal that reflects what you charge. For that amount of money the meal should at least ensure the diner doesn't come away hungry. Oh, and I'm not referring to the size of the fish portion which was fine. But in the name of Jamie Oliver couldn't you at least served up a few more potatoes and a half decent salad? You have everything else right! Such a shame to ruin it for literally a few pennies. The pot of tea was also lovely by the way and although not cheap at £2.85 is pretty standard anywhere. Thank you for all the good points here mentioned but please please do consider that if you want to charge top dollar you need to deliver on ALL aspects of the dining experience.

This is in a great setting on a beautiful day, however, you can now only sit outside as the owner doesn’t wish to pay VAT! Also, their understanding of the difference between vegan and gluten free is non existent and the owner advised that GF was too expensive after we requested vegan options and just shrugged whilst saying “gluten free, vegan…” when we tried to explain the difference! this was worrying as they had a couple of cakes labelled ‘vegan’ which may therefore have just been gluten free! In this day and age, caterers really need to be better educated in dietary requirements as it could be dangerous. We will not be giving our money to anyone with this couldn’t care less attitude in future.

Whilst the place has a lovely view I would not recommend it for people and families with food allergies and intolerances. When we mentioned to the lady at the till that our son has allergies and we brought his own food (as the cafe DOES NOT provide any alternatives) were told by a very angry and unfriendly chef and one of the waitress that our son was not allowed to eat his food as we did not buy it at the Cafe. The reaction of the chef was so unwarranted that my children were quite upset. In the end, after us begging them, we were allowed to stay. Clearly the Cafe and its staff have very little regard for families with allergies. It was not a good experience.

Visited here today to give them a second chance as on a previous occasion it was so awful we had a refund because it was inedible, so this time ordered a simple cream tea thinking they can't muck up a cream tea.wrong ! The actual place itself is a dream with amazing views very spacious etc so it's hard to resist going in but the food is dreadful they really need a proper chef. Cream tea came out with two seperate pots of cream and jam with one scone each and a huge teapot for two. The teapot was really cheap and dirty with stains and a massively wide spout so every time you poured it the tea went all over the table a teapot needs a slim spout to avoid this. The cream had been stored in a freezer maybe? so was solid and rock hard like frozen ice cream so impossible to spread and as we attempted to spread it on the the scone (which was very crumbly anyway) broke into a million pieces .The the mess on the table from the spilt tea and the now mashed up scone from the frozen cream was ridiculous. Inedible again. On a previous visit we ordered an English breakfast it came out charcoaled and burnt to a crisp it was inedible, the sausage was dark brown and crispy the bacon was dark brown and as hard as a rock both dripping in grease. When we complained and asked for a refund the dark haired middle aged lady at the counter was very nervous and said ''oh the chef burns everything because he is sick of people asking for crispy bacon so he burns everything on purpose now'' Really ?

Beautiful food and beautiful location but upset that when a big table of us ordered separately we were a pot of tea short for a cream tea. After several times of asking and a reason being given that the front of house was working separately on the tickets that the kitchen, my niece had finished her scone before she received her tea. Having put it down the waitress said “We had brought you enough hot drinks but as a good will gesture we’ve brought you this!” After spending nearly £50 on our drinks and snacks I did not appreciate being made to feel like we weren’t entitled to the tea and they were doing us a favour! As we left another lady came out with the tickets and said “we had brought you enough” so I again went through the orders and she argued with me in front of a cafe full of people. My niece who by this point was close to tears offered to pay for the tea (despite it having should have come with the scone) -There is not an option on the menu to only have a scone with cream and jam!!!!! Marred the day after a very emotional family weekend visiting where my Mums ashes had been scattered

We have visited this cafe both times that we have been in Lynmouth on this particular holiday. The first time, about 10 days ago, it was a nice day so we sat outside and enjoyed a lovely prawn baguette - packed with prawns, not too much sauce, very fresh bread. Also, the scone was very fresh and tasty. Today, due to the inclement weather, we had to wait a little while for a table inside. It was worth it for the lovely sausage, Brie & red onion chutney baguette. Again, very fresh and tasty. We followed this with a yoghurt flapjack which did not disappoint. I drink my coffee straight black and the quality of the coffee served here is second to none for taste and strength. However, the overriding issue for both my wife and I has been the friendliness, efficiency and courtesy shown by the staff. They explain the (Covid) proceedings very well, go out of their way to help (e.g. extra plate for sharing) and are very smart and polite too. Absolutely lovely. Thank you.

How have we never noticed it before? After alighting the carriage we walked around the charming village, sat on a bench and admired the beautiful scenery. At this point hubby needed feeding so we headed back towards The Pavilion worries it would be packed by now as it was lunchtime but I think because it’s not on the pavement but up some steps it gets overlooked unless you are either on the railway or notice it from a the road. A lovely chap greeted us at the door, explaining the COVID rules, escorted us to an outside table of our choice and we began to peruse the menu. Great selection of baguettes, toastier, cake, cooked food...something for everyone. The seafood platter was very nice and flavourful the fish was fresh and the different kinds of batter they fried the different types of fish in were very tasty even the salad it came with was very nice it was dressed in a vinaigrette and came with tartar sauce and brown bread on the side. My mum and dad really enjoyed the full English too, the lemon tart was sharp and sweet and the pastry melted in my mouth my mum and dad enjoyed their bakewell tart too the milkshakes and coffee were extremely tasty as well overall we were all saying that we could stay and relax in the pavilion all day drinking and eating food and end spending a fortune the staff were amazing and a credit to the hospitality and catering industry.

Visiting Lynmouth again on a very busy Sunday lunchtime. We were surprised how many tables were empty at The Pavilion. I suppose this was reflected with the good weather and many other eating places with outside space. We chose toasted sandwiches and really enjoyed them. Good quantity of brie and cranberry, with a little side salad. Coffee good too.

After visiting Lynmouth several times I wanted to try the pavilion. Our food was very greasy and really not worth the money spent - nothing came out together . The two men working were very polite but were let down by the women serving who was snappy. Seemed to be a lot of flies around also which is a problem when you are eating.

Were recommended here for cream tea and it didn't disappoint, especially when I realised you could have it with prosecco - it was a no brainer. My husband doesn't like a cream tea so he had a very nice cheese and onion toastie which was hot and generously filled. We went back two days later for the same but unfortunately the toasted sandwich was a bit of a let down, as the bread was barely toasted.

Staying in Lynmouth we came here 3 or 4 times and always received a warm welcome and the food or drinks we had were excellent. The views are also superb and this became a firm holiday favourite!

We eat and drink here a lot, and it’s a great place to hang out. Good coffee, tea as it should be .. bold! Great food and service, and awesome views. It gets busy, so just sit back, relax and enjoy the moment.

It’s a shame with the space they have that they don’t turn this into more of a high end niche... food was good; views spectacular. So much they could do though!

We have been visiting the Pavillion for lunch and snacks since it opened. We are frequent visitors as we have relatives in the area. Food has always been excellent, a good choice, freshly cooked and a good selection of cakes. We went in last Friday at 1pm for lunch and snacks only to be told there was a delay if we wanted hot food as everybody was ordering hot meals! 30-35 mins. I thought it strange to be told that as it was lunch time. Efficient and pleasant lady was taking orders. Anyway, we ordered some drinks, cakes, toasted teacake, whitebait and a ham salad. Drinks came plus cakes and eventually the toasted teacake. We had still not got our ham salad and white bait after 45 mins so had to cancel the order for those items and get a refund as our parking time was running out. So disappointed. Why has it changed we wondered, it has been consistently good since it opened....... it was busy on Wednesday but certainly not full to capacity. Are more staff needed? Do hope this can be sorted for July and August now the schools are on holiday when you will be even busier.

I live locally and have always taken visitors here as the views are wonerful as the dining area is one floor up and directly overlooks the sea. There is also a big outdoor space where you can see the Cliff Railway going up and down as well as the lovely sea views.

Our first visit and unfortunately, probably our last. The view across the sea is outstanding and we were very pleased to have somewhere like it for breakfast. The lady who took the order was friendly and helpful and the menu is varied. However, the food was not so good. The full English breakfast contained burnt bacon, overcooked fried egg and raw tomato. The small veggie breakfast mushrooms were fine but the sausages were actually vegetable fingers like those in the Sainsburys freezer cabinet, the poached egg was hard and the tomato again was raw. There weren't many people in as it had just opened so maybe the regular chef wasn't in, I don't know, it's just a shame and left us feeling disappointed.

The sea view roof top terrace with a lovely coffee and honeycomb ice cream on a sunny day is a very nice place to be.

Visited today and had a wonderful lunch. We came across the resturant by accident,it is tucked away next to the funicular railway. We sat outside and the views are wonderful. It was peaceful, staff very friendly and the food was delicious. We ordered the vegetarian goats cheese and chutney quiche and burger with bacon cranberry and cheese. A choice for vegetarians which was a joy.

We came here with friends and it wasn't as full as we expected. Obviously being on the first floor means many pass it by, but they don't know what they are missing. We had an excellent lunch and the salad with ham and two varieties of cheese had enough to feed a small army! And with a wondeful view over the bay and of the funicular railway as well, what more do you need. Will definitely call in again next time we are in the area.

I suspect that this place is a well kept secret by the locals! Big picture windows overlook the shore - you can see from end till end of the bay here.

We visited the pavilion upon reading reviews on here about how good the views were and that they’re completely dog friendly, once again everyone was right! We lucked out getting one of the only free spaces along the harbour (2 hours free) and headed straight to pavilion, grabbing a fabulous spot on the balcony outside overlooking both the harbour and the funicular railway up to Lynton. We all ordered various baguettes (tuna/fish finger sandwich/crab) and shared a portion of lovely cheesy chips, the food was served swiftly and was really good value for money. Also, the dog biscuits at the counter went down really well with our doggo! Highly recommend this spot for a good outlook to watch the world go by.

Stumbled across the cafe when we arrived in Ilfracombe and needed coffee. Quaint and characterful and clearly has it's regular customers. Coffee was good and hot but the homemade Eccles cake was amazing! The other treats looked good too. Coming across The Naked Cake cafe was the best thing about Ilfracombe which was otherwise, tatty and very down at heel.

Lovely modern roomy lodges in a beautiful location. Breakfast choice was great, cooked breakfast very good & piping hot👍 Pub food also excellent, quick service, good choices. Most staff helpful & friendly. One member of staff who greeted us on arrival wasn't welcoming. Only a couple of minor things- rusty toilet roll holder which spoilt the rest of the very new bathroom & the shelf above sink is in the way. Suggestion - small fridge, there is room. Mirror near plug sockets. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Four of us popped in today and we were glad we did ! Looking through the window showed it was full but a table of four had just got up so we sat in their seats :) We all had the Breakfast at £11 each. Couldn’t fault the meal at all, plenty on the plate and locally sourced. Really good selection of coffee, tea and fresh orange 🍊 juice. Highly recommended Get a seat and order at the counter. Very pleasant polite service as well. Seating outside. Well done 👏👏
