I can here with my 3 year old granddaughter. Ordered her a kids meal, 4 vegan nuggets, about 10 chips and a small amount of beans...£6.00.!! Disgusting.!! Then I had to order a drink which didn't come with meal, a small carton of apple juice, and extra £2.00.!! 8 pound in total, and the elderly lady behind the counter, very rude.!!! Park is beautiful cafe is work than a motorway service station.!! Never again.!! By the way the plate in the picture is tea saucer size.!!

When we order a cappuccino we don't want black coffee with 1/4 inch of froth. I've included a diagram to help. It's really easy to make and you had the right machine for it. Steam the milk until you have some really good foam. Fill the cup to about 1/3 with black coffee or Espresso. Pour the hot foamed milk on top and it will settle with the lightest foam on top. When you scrape the top of the foam with a spoon you should not see black coffee.

It's a lovely little cafe with friendly staff. The choice of food was good, and it was good to see how they attempt to make all the food's as ethically sourced as possible. The coffee was good, and the food was good and at good value. The childrens menu was well thought out. In terms of the whole experience around Williamson Park this cafe does provide an excellent calm oasis before starting to explore.

Very pleasantly surprised at how good this little cafe was during lock-down. A one-way queuing system on entry, served quickly by young but very attentive staff, food was good and reasonably priced, staff were working as quickly as they could to keep the queue moving. All food was tasty and the fact they do a kids picnic bag was a great bonus. Can't speak more highly of the three young ladies who served us at the food and drinks counters. Thank you!

Very busy on the day we visited, consequently we had to hang around for a table. When we did get a table they were being cleared very slowly so we did it ourselves, it looked like the previous family had a food fight so food scraps were everywhere and the table was dirty and sticky - why do parents allow their kids to behave in such an abhorrent manner?Anyway - on a positive note the food and cakes were very good and it is a great location on top of the hill looking down over Lancaster and Morecambe. And it is dog friendly!

Called in cafe with my Grandsons for lunch. The line for food was To The entrance. The wait for food was over 30mins. I accept there was lot of families present but this is no excuse for not clearing tables and trying to keep the cafe clean and tidy. The food selection was poor and the look of dull white bread sandwiches and cheap sausages accompanying big Yorkshire pudding does nothing to wet the appetite. Compared to other cafe/restaurants/garden centres this cafe is failing. To think that many visitors of whom there where many must have left feeling "is the best that there is on offer. Sorry this is so negative but it's not rocket science. Could and should be a flag ship cafe. is this a franchise? Needs a serious review, staff training, menu review etc etc. Will give it a miss.

Visited with friends who ordered the fish and chips, this arrived looking worse for wear, the fish was grey inside, resembling something bought from the cut price section in Farmfoods and the chips were half cooked fries that were half cold. The bread given to accompany the meal was a stale milk roll slice cut in half. Both mine and my friends halloumi baguettes were on stale bread and the medley of roast veg was a manky slice of ‘roasted’ carrot. Very disappointing given that false advertising is used on window of cafe promoting ‘the use of local produce’. Embarrassing (I had recommended it to my friends!) and not a good reflection of our beautiful Williamson’s Park!

The café is situated in a great spot on Williamson Park. However, there are issues with cleanliness. We called in for hot drinks, and sat down at a table which needed cleaning-not a problem, because staff were quite busy, so we asked for a cloth to clean the food off the table. A staff member did clean the table, but there was still food on the floor all around our feet.

Overpriced only option on the park. Jacket potatoes like concrete. Fries limp and lukewarm. Baguette dry and chewy (the steak was barely chewable) Waste of money. Still hungry as it was disgusting. Salad was perhaps from yesterday. The coleslaw tasted like chemicals , I’ve had better coleslaw from netto . Also, please see pictures attached. I can guarantee they did not taste like ketchup or mayonnaise! Please look at photos attached !!!!! Only good thing was a water fountain . Not many staff so there is a massive queue to wait for the inedible food . The drinks are tripled from supermarket price as a milkshake from the supermarket is 50p and at the it is 2.00 would definitely not recommend going to the cafe but the butterfly house and the memorial was great . Lots of playgrounds the park was lovely but the food ruined our week away as my daughter was crying because she couldn’t eat her food .

My sandwich was dry and tasteless and was “presented “ with an embarrassing excuse for a salad of wet lettuce, two halves of cherry tomato and three tiny pieces of cucumber. My friend had a dry, lukewarm baguette filled with mushy tasteless sweet potato and halloumi together with anaemic floppy chips. Her tea was presented in a badly cracked cup. We popped in here for brunch, and whilst we expected it to be busy due to it being a sunny day and there being an event on in the park, but the queue was out past the door and there only seemed to be 3 members of staff in sight. We wanted to order off the breakfast menu but we queued for so long that by the time we had reached the till they had switched to the lunch menu. The elderly man in front of us was taking turns with his wife in the queue because it was so slow. We didn’t want to order off the lunch menu because it seemed very expensive (£6 for a jacket potato). They did allow us to order off the breakfast menu but I wish I hadn’t. My scrambled eggs were the worst I have ever had - they were cold, hadn’t been mixed together properly and had been microwaved to the point where they had formed one big, solid, rubbery mass of egg, I could pick it up in one piece. I had to use my knife to cut it into smaller pieces. After two mouthfuls I gave up and just ate the toast because the eggs were so bad. They weren’t exactly cheap at £4 so I expected better. My partner ordered a sausage ciabatta and both the sausages and the ciabatta were burnt. I appreciate that it was very busy but with this being a a planned event I would have thought they would have anticipated this and had more staff working. We definitely won’t be going back.

Eaten here a few times as a family with small children. The food is really nice and served quickly, the coffee is good and the prices are fair. Only downside is the highchairs, out of the few they have the majority have broken straps so aren't useable unless you want to risk your child slipping under the bar and onto the floor. Wish they would fix these as finding a safe one is hard during busy periods and it's an accident waiting to happen. Overall a nice place to eat!

This cafe is in a prime position. Wonderful views and ambiance. However the food and cleanliness plus not very caring attitude of the Staff let it down. Tables aren't cleared and cleaned for ages, "orders" are "slapped down" ready for you and any enquiries are rather treated as nuisances. On two visits, the cakes and scones have been found to be stale. On my last visit, the Proprietor/Manager? was loudly telling off a Member of Staff, just the other side of a wooden fence, adjacent to the outside dining area, at the back kitchen door. The cafe was absolutely rammed with shouting kids (and parents). I ordered 2 cheese and tomato sandwiches with chips + tea and coffee. The food came on a wooden board which put me off right away. We have had pottery and porcelain since the C17th at least, so why go back to eating off wood, I dare not think what was lurking in the grain of the wood. It may be trendy but can't be hygienic. The cutlery was barely washed with food bits lodged in fork prongs and smeared knives. The cheese was grated, the bread was crumbly and the sandwiches were virtually impossible to eat. I put the sandwiches in a doggy bag and fed them to my dog outside.

The staff are regularly working flat out with queues out of the door during school holidays and they still remain pleasant and helpful. The added bonus if being able to sit outside and enjoy the view makes it even better. Went to this cafe with my two children and my partner on a rainy afternoon. We had been in for a coffee once and saw people been served nice looking sandwiches on a platter so we agreed next time we visited we would have lunch. The cafe was heaving and obviously the staff couldn't cope. We sat at a table for about 15 minutes that was not cleared or the table wiped. We were served by a very vacant looking young boy who didn't make any eye contact then just walked away leaving the last dinners mess at our table. He came back with some more of our food and I had to ask him to clear the table as he had not intention to take the mess away. He took a tray full of stuff then left the rest and still had not wiped the spills and sticky mess all over the table. It was then another 10 minutes after me and my partner got our food and they had not brought over my sons. There was by this point a very long queue so I went over to the till where there was a young orange looking girl with dark hair serving. I stood at the front for her to ignore me so I got her attention and told her we were still waiting for food and the table was filthy. She was not in one bit interested and replied "I am just serving this customer". Eventually the young boy came back over looking rather sheepish and asked what he would like us to clear up. He took the rest of the last dinners mess and still didn't wipe the table! I got so fed up that I got my babies wet wipes out and wiped it myself. I also gave him my tea pot that was only half filled and asked him to take it back fill it to the top since a pot was nearly £2. I had ordered a carved ham sandwich with soup which advertised on the menu that it was served with mustard. Mine came out with just butter so I sent it back with the boy and asked for mustard on it. When they finally brought my sons sandwich out, they brought it on a plate with carrots and cucumber slapped on the plate where everyone else's was served on a platter and a nice looking side salad. They had also given him average shop bought bread as opposed to the bread me and my partner were given on our sandwiches, and anyone else's in the cafe for that matter. It wasn't worth mentioning again considering the staff didn't care to begin with anyway. The cafe is small and cluttered and there is no room for people to pass with prams. The also let dogs come into the cafe where people are eating which is just vile. There was a couple with a dog salivating all over my sons coat which is not what you really want when you come out to eat. Its a shame really cos the food quality wasn't too bad. We were served nice carved ham on nice fresh bread (apart from my son). The soup was clearly home made and although not entirely blended properly it was still nice. I DO NOT recommend going to this cafe as the service is terrible and we will not be eating here again.

Had visitors at the weekend so went for a walk around the park before going for a bite to eat. Two sandwiches were ordered which looked amazing when they came on thick cut bread. It was so disappointing. The bread was hard round the edges, it crumbled like it had come out of the freezer. Disappointing.

I first went here with my little grandchild in summer. They were always very busy but the staff were more than obliging and always cheerful. I returned every time I was in lancaster and was never disappointed. I usually had an earl grey and it was always a real tonic after an exhausting day babyminding: beautifully served, with a mint chocolate. The staff gave me all I needed for my granddaughter too: extra plates, serviettes etc. The food is fab too. Even the 'humble' cheese on toast to share with my granddaughter is a delight: served on a wooden platter with dressed salad at one end, the bread is home made and chunky and you get two big slices. All for £2.00! Delicious. I have seen couples, families, dog owners and singles in there. All those I've spoken to have been impressed. The food is sourced as locally as possible as well as being served beautifully. The value is second to none. You can sit out or in and there is a variety of seating arrangements. I was amazed to discover Lancaster council actually run it. They certainly have high standards. I will return many more times and recommend it to all. Just outside the cafe is one of the best views in the area too. In fact I may say it's just about perfect.

We came here with our three grandchildren and our dog. Service was incredibly slow, but the food was well worth the wait.We had the cooked breakfast, which considering the high quality, was an excellent price at £6.50 including a drink. The staff were friendly and the cafe was very clean. Unfortunately, vandals had done their best to destroy the outside seating areas, so we sat inside. Dogs are welcome here. The food was easily on a par with many fine hotels that we have stayed in and was plentiful as well.

Visited with the family for the bistro night which is on Friday and Saturday evenings during the summer season. There was a good choice of starters and we opted for the baked dough balls. For the main course I chose classic cheese burger and it didn't disappoint. The burger was a reasonable size with a good portion of chips and battered onion rings. As-side from this burger there were a number of other options such as various Burgers and stone-baked pizzas. The service was brilliant and i'd like to especially praise the head-chef and a staff member named Will who made our visit a pleasure. Will definitely recommend to friends and visit in the future!

If you want a quick bite, or a sit with some tea and cake, this is popular as it is by a park with beautiful views across the city and the surrounding country. It is by the Butterfly House. I would come here with a friend or with children, but not if I really wanted to impress someone. It provides fresh food at reasoanable prices: its great advantage is its location, as when it is raining or very hot it is a convenient place to go into, have a sit and a drink, and then go out again. I wouldn't make a special trip here, but I might include it in a visit to the park etc.

I regularly come here with my children after playing in the park. They food as always very fresh, well presented and great value. The children's cheese on toast or beans on toast is only £1! Its the perfect portion size and because its such great value I regularly buy them food there as it doesn't feel like am breaking the bank to give my four children lunch even though I could just give them similar at home. The main meal select is just as good. Again fresh, lovely bloomer bread used for toast and sandwiches plus they do a full english which is amazing value. It is great to see this cafe often so busy. The cafe has be done up and had a management change a few years ago. It is a great improvement to the drap place it used to be serving low quality food. Williamson Park is a fantastic place and its great that it has a cafe that is worth visiting and sometimes for me the deciding reason to go there. The coffee is gorgeous! As much as I love this place I do think it could do with some improvements. The service can be slow as the staff take food orders and make the drinks causing a que to quickly form. It might be better if there was someone taking orders and a separate drink making team for example. Plus I would have to agree with a previous review about table's not being cleared. Sometimes ive been and its not very busy but tables still messy but this may depend on which staff are working as been other days when very busy and all tables clean and tidy. Overall I think this is a welcoming cafe serving fresh food at a great value. It could do with more then 3 highchairs as it can only take 2 families to be in the cafe then they are all gone. As families are probably 50% of the customer base then I think they would be gladly recived (especially by me :-))

We had a "quick" bite to eat here on sunday lunch - was a wet day day so it was rather quiet, but the place was a mess! Tables weren't cleared away or wiped down, the floor was filthy, the seating was cramped and uncomfortable. the service was slow (we ordered a kids meal among other things and kept Having to ask for the completed items as stead on the menu). No cutlery was offered when the food was delivered (and when it did it wasn't properly cleaned) and the toilets could definitely do with a regular inspection! But, on a positive note, the food was good, good sized portions with plenty of taste, and the kids meal (when it finally all arrived) was just right. We'll definitely be going back to Williamson Park, but will be staying well clear of the Pavilion!

Ordered a pot of tea and it was served with one tea bag. When I asked for another I was told that it would cost me Another 1.90! We were buying drinks and cake and this seemed very unreasonable. How can anyone say 1 tea bag costs 1.90? Very disappointed we will not go back!

Had a quick meal before watching Robin Hood in Williamson Park - really friendly staff, good prices and excellent pizzas, that were better than we've had in many Italian restaurants!

A pleasant small pub with high quality ales, impressively decorated and decent entertainment on the Friday night I visited.

I visited Saturday after a walk along the canal, I sat down ordered my food, it felt very rushed. It was lunchtime so Light Bites menu I went for the fish meal. It was very small portion for the price . I have eaten bigger portions of light bites in other places. I thought in a lovely place like Hest bank for locals & tourists the welcome & food quality would have been much better. I definitely will not return.

As with previous reviews we got caught out with the scam car park fees, there are no clear signs, why would you be looking for one? It’s a pub car park, as a tour guide who travels the U.K constantly I can’t think of another pub that operates a car park like this, to add insult to injury the food was distinctly average. My advice is if you are going for the Isle of Man ferry, eat on the boat and avoid this blatant scam.

Just had a lovely meal here to celebrate my dad and husband's birthdays. The food was lovely and the staff were attentive without being too pushy - just right. The food quality was good value for money and we all enjoyed it. They responded to all my messages very positively when booking. The only disappointing thing was that it is not well supported by locals- Use it or lose it folks!
