Greaves Park Bar & Dining in Lancaster

Omg amazing. Looked for"after work" treat before heading home, short listed 4 places, but this menu stood out from the rest! Never been before. Certainly wasn't disappointed, beautiful building, met by lovely manager Joseph such a great character and helpful. Squid was outstanding, what a plate full, wow, followed by main menu pork belly......luscious, lip smacking tasty food, not to forget the divine tasty gravy!! Friend had the mushroom and said tasty and enjoyable followed by the mahoosive steak pie 🥧 what a size, but she thoroughly tucked in and enjoyed. Treated ourselves to mini pudding and coffee at the end as we deserved it!! ☕️ 🧁 would most definitely return!! 🍽 🍷 🍺 thankyou and compliments to the chef!!

Very cold on arrival but they thankfully put the heating on, food ok could be much better, hot food on cold plates is unforgivable especially as it was every plate every serving, our server was very good but embarrassed with the offerings from the kitchen!!!

Stopped off for a drink. Sometimes have a meal but this time only a drink. Normally very relaxed, pleasant and reasonably priced.

This is a hidden gem of a pub and grub, right in the heart of Lancaster city. Great service, good food, varied menu and won't break the bank. Parking outside and a pub garden out the back. Children's play park two mins walk in front of the pub. Highly recommend.

A lovely place - out party of 4 enjoyed a lovely evening of wholesome food in comfortable stylish surroundings.The background music wasn't too loud which meant it was easy to chat. Staff all very helpful and friendly too.

Went in on Tuesday for lunch on our way home had 2 meals for £20 so asked for a table and a young girl said our usual table wasn’t available .So we had a Quick Look around and found a little snug table at the bar and hot comfy.Joseph asked if we wanted drinks and Annie opted for a latte and I asked for a pint of scrum down a Pale Ale it was very nice.Food was a mixed grill with side order of onion rings and Annie had the rump steak with mash potato and a side of beef dripping gravy .Excellent food again thank you team 👍🏻😎

The staff are amazing, so welcoming and helpful and make you feel at home. The food is top restaurant quality at pub food prices.

Excellent Sunday lunch. More greens and crispier, larger potatoes please but otherwise fantastic! Lamb shank shepherds pie had a very meagre amount of mash on top and was not presented as a pie. Shank was not shredded into a pie just plonked in a pie dish bone and all. Dry chicken on a mixed grill. Grilled tomato hadn't really seen a grill. Please don't drown vegetables in dressing. Service was slow. A shame.

A wonderful dining experience as always. We love coming here to bring a perfect end to our days out in Lancaster. Thank you to Joe and the team for taking excellent care of us!

This place is beautiful and the service was so good. Actually went here on a very successful second date so will forever be in my memory now and that's due to the amazing time we had here! Service was lovely, chatty staff, fast service, fantastic food and great prices. Will definitely go back again very soon.

We were in a rush! (Literally still at table rushing out way out now). Explained we had somewhere to be. Harvey was wonderful and brought our food, take away boxes and bill all in a jiffy! Excellent service and excellent food worth taking the time to eat. Glad we stopped here.

We came for valentine’s day and it was absolutely gorgeous! Harvey (our waiter) was absolutely lovely, took our order and served us quickly, and checked in regularly! Thank you and would recommend :)

The service was very good, and food/drink equally so! Decent value as well. Great ambience, good parking (…but don’t forget to log your car in at the reception) and a really nice atmosphere to enjoy a gathering/meting of family and friends. The manager couldn’t do enough for us, and I will definitely go again…. To me it’s one of the very best places to dine in Lancaster!

A great venue and excellent service Reservation process on line is a little complicated as we had to bring our dog which means a phone call. Not a problem but the call is an automated service so we were a bit concerned our needs would not be catered for. However they were so not a problem after all!

The staff and the food were great. Gave 5* overall as the menu prices are higher compared to some establishments but we had a voucher, which made it very reasonably priced & everything we had was delicious!

An order of smashed avocado with bacon and eggs Benedict took 45 minutes despite a not even third full restaurant. Smashed avocado arrived cold and as pictured. When I asked for butter it was brought in the dish shown. Cost of my meal was removed when I stated it was cold but as paying by Tesco vouchers wasn't refunded obviously so in reality I paid over half the cost of it. Real shame because our experience of another Chef and Brewer place nearby was exceptional (Cross Keys)

Fundamentally never gonna be better than okay, service always has a mishap and the food is never better than just okay. Weirdly on my last two visits, I've spent the next day being unwell. Maybe it's a coincidence, but it's really not somewhere I'd choose to go live!

Nice meal with our daughter. We drove up from North Wales to be with her, and chose Greaves Park to meet. Lovely setting, and served really well by Harvey, who took care of us.

We enjoyed a Christmas Eve meal here with family (including two children 8 & 4 y/o). Everything was perfectly cooked and came piping hot. The huge Yorkshire puds were a big hit with everyone. We had a [expected] wait for our mains as it was VERY busy but it didn't spoil our experience and the kids had a big double sided colouring/puzzle sheet to keep them busy and some Christmas crackers to pull. Everyone (including kids) polished off their meals and deserts came quickly, which we're also beautiful. Highly recommend and we'll definitely visit again. Thank you to the friendly staff at such a busy time!

It was an early celebration of christmas for my family and our dog, and we had a great time in the restaurant. The vibe, the people, the atmospher, the deocration, all give us a very warm and happy feeling. And the food was fabulouse! We would love to come back again in the future.

Staff friendly and attentive. With 4 old friends, all have been before and always enjoy the visit. Enjoyed the sea bass and others delighted with the steak and ale pies. Organic Pinot Grigio and the merlot were good. Wanted to pay separately and staff took time and effort with this.

We had our Dept Xmas Lunch Greaves Park. We were a party of 44. All the staff were really helpful and efficient from start to finish. The communication in the organisation was spot on. Andy and Joseph dealt with all the booking and questions really well. The food was excellent and we all enjoyed our meals. Harvey and Liam looked after us and that’s no mean feat with a large party. They were friendly and attentive and made sure we had all our orders. Thank you Greaves Park.

Staff were excellent. Food was excellent except for the side order of mushrooms consisting of two small mushrooms. Not cheap but very nice food.

Very nice pub and lush food. We had the Christmas menu and was lovely. My waitress bella was very helpful and attentive and answered any queries we had! Over all a very nice time and lush pub.

Christmas lunch today with friends was excellent. Food was lovely, staff friendly, and as usual the place looks rather nice. We'll done everyone 🙂

Harvey and Joseph were our attentive and polite waiters. The setting is so pretty with a gorgeous Christmas tree and real candlelight. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.

Great food! Portion size was more than enough (I almost didn’t manage a desert after my main). Service was impeccable, friendly staff accommodated all our needs, checked in with us throughout the meal to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and didn’t need anything. Atmosphere was nice and relaxing, no loud noise, tables spaced out well. Will deffo be returning 😀

I have eaten on a number of occasions at Greaves Park and have always been impressed, but our experience last night was disappointing. I understand that we were served by a duty manager. On taking our order for three sirloin steaks, he did not ask how we wished them cooked until prompted. The service appeared less than skilled. The quality of the meals was lower then I had expected and experienced previously: rather dry chicken and small sirloin steaks with a miniature dab of garlic butter. We sat chatting for some time after our meal without being offered further drinks or coffee. Overall, the impression was of dealing with people who were not familiar with restaurant service. Perhaps we caught the Greaves Park on a bad night, or with temporary staff, but it was a change from our previous good experiences, and it is only fair to point it out. The venue, a delightful old mansion, was very attractive as always.

We’ve been here a couple of times now and the food is always incredible. The portion sizes are perfect and we love the decor, especially for Christmas. The staff are warm and friendly - definitely recommend to anyone.

I went to Greaves with my partner, we were served by Joseph and he was very polite. The atmosphere was amazing and we didn’t wait long for food. We had the special Scotch Eggs to begin with followed by a Sirloin Steak for myself and a Mixed Grill for my partner. Both were amazing. Will definitely be coming again!

We had our wedding function here and we were really looked after. Absolutely amazing, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The photos we got in the grounds were incredible, our meals were lovely. A day to remember, 5 stars 🌟

Absolutely great food and service , can’t do enough for you a definite place for a celebration, it was for our 40th wedding anniversary

Visited here on the 26/10/24 for my sister’s 21st. Where to start, the building itself is old and beautiful, and feels like you are in a castle! The staff were super friendly, wishing my sister a happy birthday when they saw the badges and the happy birthday decor we put in the table where she was sat. I opted for soup of the day which was carrot and butternut squash. The soup was delicious and came with warm bread that tasted homemade! I had the steak and ale pie and as you can see from the pictures of my main, proper portion sizes! This sets a bench mark for other pubs to follow in suite in portion sizes! I was so full after my meal I skipped pudding and opted for a tasty cappuccino! Others in the group had Americano and they offered milk instead of just putting it on the table which is rare nowadays. Service and food were superb! The toilets were spotless and the decor, seats and tables were great, gave a warm, romantic feeling. I will deffo be back and may even have a meal here before xmas! The staff could not do enough for us and were enthusiastic which was great! Can’t wait to come back here and without a doubt the best meal I have had out in a while and is mow in my top 3 places to eat out in! Keep up the great work, and thank you for making my sister’s 21st 1 to remember! On a final note I suspect all the food is homemade and cooked/served to order!

The food is very satisfying. Worth every penny. Damian and Bella are good hosts and attended to us in a very friendly manner.

EDIT: After my detailed review (below), the Manager responded swiftly here AND responded quickly to a direct email. Not only that, when my Mum called in yesterday with her usual weekly ladies' group she was met by the Manager, personally. Thank you so much, you've gone above and beyond to rectify everything and we both appreciate it. Original review: Love this place usually; it's one of my favourite places to go, but tonight it was a little 🤏 off... The welcome was exceptional as usual and drinks and menus were prompt. A large party had been in and were just dispersing gradually from a long table. When the last diners left the young waitress literally started almost chucking the chairs back under the tables and moving tables apart, at one point she even slid one back under our table, slightly crashing into the leg of the table😲 in her haste! She didn’t have a clue how much noise across the wooden floors she was creating while people were dining and the bashing she was doing against tables in her super 'efficient' manner! I’ve never witnessed anything quite so bad tbh. We had ordered the seabass which is my favourite; I recommended it to my Mum as it is sooooo tangy and flavoursome, with the kick of capers... Sadly, not so much of a kick this time (apart from when it was literally plonked in front of us by Ms Efficient without a word, then a cursory "Any sauces?"). Knocked one star off as, when she came to ask if our meals were OK, I took the opportunity to ask "Where are the capers? I really can't taste any capers...". She said the menus had recently changed and perhaps it was one of the recent changes so I explained that I'd seen it still said capers on the menu, so she went to check with the chef. "We've no stock so there are no capers in it." she explained. I said it was such a shame as the capers really made that meal... "Sorry darlin'" she said and wandered off quickly to clear more tables and smash around behind the bar! (You always knew where she was in the restaurant 🙉) Unbelievable!!! It was the equivalent of going for a lemon drizzle cake but finding it without lemon!!! Nice enough, but just a bit bland and disappointing. Surely a meal should be removed from the menu if a key ingredient isn't available or at least check if it's OK to make it without, giving the diner the choice?!? I would've had the Salmon Wellington instead! Anyway, when my Mum paid she was asked if everything was OK with the meals and she explained "Apart from there being no capers." and all she got was an "oh dear". I would've thought an offer to make the hot chocs complimentary, as she dines with her friends every Wednesday, would've been the least gesture they could've shown 🤷🏼‍♀️ Next time I will be asking if all the ingredients are in stock before I choose!!! Note to manager - pls encourage your super efficient waitress to be more appreciative of diners' experiences and the ambiance of the dining room whilst carrying out her duties. She's speedy, gets things done, attentive and proactive, she just needs some smoothing around the sharp edges and it would be a good idea to drop the "darlin'"!

I love the decor of this place, beautifully done. The food was lovely too. It was a Friday lunch time and it wasn't very crowded. It would feel a little more lively with more customers there. I will be going back.

Omg. The service at this restaurant was truly amazing. The staff were fantastic. The managers and our waitress - Chloe, Damien and Cody were exemplary. We found them to be attentive and sincerely interested in how we found our meal. We had our two doggies with us and when we sat down they asked if we wanted water for them! When did you last go to a restaurant and they did that!? They came out with water and dog treats which was wonderful. I found each and every member of staff refreshingly wonderful and fabulous. This was my first visit in 8 months....I lost my Husband in December. We had his wake he late December.. everything was extremely helpful due to the circumstances... The only thing missing was Mr H himself...xx ..this was his favourite place ....for food ... hospitality... it took courage and strength to go , especially without my late Husband.... missed his company...I sat near what we classed as his corner. The service was excellent... Kirsty gave me a lovely hugs and made me feel so welcome. . Going alone is not always that easy. We often pop in for food and a few beers, Kirsty and her team that served us this evening are very hardworking, friendly and efficient. The food is always spot on, great menu. Many places fall short somewhere, glad to say it's not the case here. Great vegan options including puddings which is rare. Thanks to the chef and kitchen for their care and awareness for food allergies.

We visited this afternoon for dinner and were very impressed with the food and particularly the great service we received. We took our dog and requested a dog friendly table but we weren't certain that dogs would be allowed in the main dining area. They were more than welcoming and even gave our doggy a bowl of water and some treats without being asked. They were so kind and friendly and it really made a difference to our experience. All the staff were lovely and the service was excellent. So thank you Greaves Park. We will definitely be back again..
