Superb little place to grab a cuppa and bite, dog friendly with treats. Clean and very reasonable prices. If the Eggy bread is on, get that, really enjoyable. Staff very pleasant. Worth a little bit of an extra walk out of Markeaton.

Ive been coming here for years as its very quaint and in a convenient location right next to Markeaton Park. The Orangery cafe is often too busy for my liking so I come here to have a pot of tea, cake and sometimes breakfast whilst I chill out or read a book or draw. Theres an aviary out back and its lovely to sit and listen to the birds singing. It backs onto a farm yard and theres often geese and ducks running about. Its a nice place to take kids so they can see the birds and animals. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Please think twice about going to the Orangery or the garden centre cafe next door as the parlour to me is more of a relaxing environment. Very nice homemade cakes too! Give it a go!

I have been to a few afternoon teas in Derby and this was by far the best. I rung in the morning to ask if my Gran and myself could come. Usually you need to call a day in advance but they accommodated us anyway! We arrived to a beautifully set up table. Gorgeous table cloth, wonderful China plates, fairy lights it was wonderful. The afternoon tea was all prepared on our arrival. The staff were so kind, helpful and welcoming. The food was amazing. They make all their own sandwiches, quiches and cakes. The quiche and the scones were particularly amazing. My Gran said it was the best scone she has ever had. We had a wonderful time and were made to feel so special. I never usually leave reviews but I am happy to support this lovely cafe. We will be coming again, thanks for having us! Jess

Celebrated my mums birthday having afternoon tea, there was more than enough sandwiches, tea and cakes to keep us going and the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much. I would definitely visit here again and if you were to visit, your sure to not be disappointed. Thankyou again for a lovely afternoon x

I visited with a friend for an afternoon cup of tea and cake. The first impression was not good as we were told off for entering through the wrong door - which wasn't clearly signed. The tearoom itself it is quaint and very well designed and exactly the sort of place that I usually enjoy visiting. The outside seating was lovely and social distancing was well organised. Sadly the poor attitude of the lady serving continued; having had no welcome we then didn't feel that our custom was appreciated. When bringing our tea the lady put her finger in the milk jug and only took it back to change it when we said that we weren't happy about it: she was quite grumpy about this. This is a lovely place but sadly we won't be visiting again due to the poor service.

We pre-booked afternoon tea for 6 as a post-lockdown treat and took advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme which gave us a 50% reduction on price. We arrived on time and were ushered to our reserved table which was beautifully laid out with fine china. The sandwiches, cakes and scones were delicious. There was plenty of choice and plenty of food. Tea and soft drinks were regularly topped up as required. The staff were helpful and attentive and a great time was had by all. Many thanks to you all at The Parlour for a lovely time. Definitely recommend!

Having stayed at home since mid March we were nervous about going out. We reserved a table outside. There are screens and distance marks, staff were attentive, so we felt safe. We had a delicious quiche and healthy mixed salad in a relaxed atmosphere. We shall return.

I love this tearooms and after a disastrous start to the year with a flood and Covid-19 I wanted to support this lovely place . Safety is well considered for the owners and visitors . The owners politely asked to explain. Tea and cakes as fabulous as always . Nice space outside and plenty of space to social distance and hand sanitiser available and use encouraged . Toilets clean and again safety considered . Looking forwards to supporting this great little place and it’s right at the back entrance to Markeaton Park so great stop during or after a nice walk .

I have had snacks and drinks in the Parlour Tea Rooms in the past, prior to the "lockdown", and they have been fine. On 31 May they opened for takeaway meals and drinks so we decided to have a snack and a couple of drinks. We ordered two sausage cobs and two teas plus a slice of cake. The white cobs were of very low quality and the sausages, which were supposed to be pork, probably contained more bread than the cobs. Very poor. The teas were in paper cups with lids and the teabags were left in so by the time we came to drink them they were so stewed as to be undrinkable. We were very disappointed and will not be partaking again.

Even with all restaurants and cafes closing, the parlour tea room allowed us to take away our afternoon tea for Mother’s Day. It was brilliant, will definitely be visiting again once it’s back open.

Had a Christmas afternoon tea party for my Brownies unit at the tearooms. It was lovely . The girls had the kids version and the adults had Christmas afternoon tea. The food and drinks were fresh , lovely, well presented and plentiful. And unlimited drinks too .We all had a great time . Mark and Chrissy were the perfect hosts to everyone and genuinely enjoyed us being there. They opened in the evening for us and in no rush for us to go, even offered their other room to play games . I would definitely recommend the tea rooms to everyone and if your looking for a group venue try here. Thanks Mark and Chrissy

Had a lovely lunch at Parlour. Freshly made scones worh cream and jam and a proper pot of tea. Mel had the fire going so it was cosy and warm. We ended up booking a baby shower while we were there. Mel showed us the room we could hire and books with photos from parties she had catered for...we have been back since and will continue to go there. Just up from there on the left is a carpark you can use...its next to the park so you can have a walk round there too..

Me and my partner visited parlour tea rooms for afternoon tea, which includes quiche 😋 and unlimited tea or coffee. I'm gluten free and it was extremely tasty and well made. The staff was very kind and helpful, also provided us with takeaway boxes for the leftovers we where too full to eat.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the owners and we sat down and chose from the breakfast menu where there are many options and includes a lovely cup ot tea or coffee. Orders and payments including Visa are taken at the counter and very good value for money. The food is cooked to order and delicious. The cafe is situated next to a working farm with outside seating areas, ideal for a sunny day and dogs on leads are welcome there as well as in the cafe.We were told that there was a designated car park for the cafe and that we could leave our car and enjoy a walk around the park which we did. We will most certainly be back to try their lunches and the beautiful cakes on display.

I've tried a light lunch, breakfast and tea and cake, on different visits. All were good and the prices are reasonable.

A brilliant gift from our daughter. Booked for early afternoon. Arrived to find everything ready. The freshest of delicious sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and cakes galore. Proper leaf tea with china teapot and cups. It was delightful and very filling. Cakes that we could not make room for were wrapped up so we could take them home. I Highly recommend this place.

We went for breakfast and what can I say other than amazing! The couple running it are so lovely and welcoming, went above and beyond even though we were awkward with the ordering. We have visited a few other places for breakfast but hadn’t found one that we wanted to go back too - the same cannot be said for this place. The best breakfast I’ve had and the cheapest can’t say better than that. Looking forward to going back.

We booked an afternoon tea for an 80th birthday celebration after stumbling across this little gem earlier in the year. Because there was a few of us, we were offered the "function room" which is opposite the main tea rooms. It was an absolute delight. The room was dressed beautifully, it was nice and warm ( a major consideration for theseniors! ), the sandwiches, cakes, scones were set out on China cake stands and all the crockery was china too. The lovely little touches were, sugar cubes with tongs and jam and cream served in cut glass. The food was delicious and plenty of it, we had extra hot water and milk in the room for those who wanted to top up the teapots. I would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates quality and great service at a good price. We will definitely be revisiting. Thank you Mel and team.

We wanted to go for a walk in Markeaton Park, so we looked on Trip Advisor for somewhere to eat breakfast nearby. We chose 'The Parlour Tea Room' on location. When we arrived quite early on a cold Sunday morning they had only just opened, We were welcomed by a Gentleman and lady. It was cold in the cafe but the man was trying to warm the cafe up by loading the log burner with wood. The four of chose 'Full English'. You could chose either 4/6 or 8 items. We ordered tea, orange juices and a hot chocolate. All the food was well cooked and we all left full and happy.I asked the owner where we could park so we could walk around the park. He directed us to the car park connected to the cafe/farm so we didn't have to pay for parking. Overall it was a nice experience and would recommend.

We visited here on Monday, with slight trepidation as the last visit I made my own drink!! I’m pleased to say it is under new ownership, clean, welcoming and value for money. The outside space is nicer now and has 3 pets which my little one was lucky enough to help feed.Don’t walk on by assuming it’s the old crowd it’s def worth a visit.

I visited today with a couple friends and our children. Food was gorgeous and the cafe is so beautiful! I was surprised quite how EASY it was to find from the park. It is literally just out the gates as you go up between the craft village and the walled garden!! We have all bought (multiple) cake slices home with us for afternoon treats! Will definitely be very much a regular!

A lovely venue for a get together with friends. We booked the function room for afternoon tea for a group of 14. The staff were friendly and helpful, both when dealing with enquires and on the day. The Parlour tearooms helped to make this a special & memorable day. I would definitely recommend popping in!

A breakfast cob and a pot of tea is just what you need on a wet and miserable day to cheer you up. The tea rooms are well laid with good decor and the warm and friendly greeting from the staff makes you feel relaxed. There is a good menu choice of items plus some yummy looking cakes to choose from plus I loved having tea in a china tea cup. I parked on the road outside but when the tea rooms get busy you may be best to park in the Markeaton car park and walk the short distance down to it.

Such a lovely cosey cafe with beautiful ambience. I have been a few times already since it opened and have had the breakfast every time. You can choose between a 4, 6 or 8 piece breakfast and Choose your own items. It is never greasy and they even offer vegetarian sausages. My 18 month old also approves of the breakfast! All the drinks are served in vintage China which adds to the atmosphere along with the roaring log fire. We have also sampled a few of the delicious cakes. Unfortunately we always scoff our food and cakes too fast and forget to take photos! The cakes are amazing and the Victoria sponge was humongous! They have also had gluten free cakes every time I have been in. The cafe is situated is a farm which is due to open to the public very soon. This paired with the fact that it is a 2 minute walk from the markeaton park craft village makes it a perfect place to take the kids after they have burnt off energy on the park. All the staff are lovely and friendly and service always comes with a smile even when they're really busy. The parlour is a firm favourite with us and we go on a weekly basis for Sunday brunch and a play on the park to wear the little one out.

I walk past this cafe most days and decided to go in and order their ploughman’s as a treat. I ordered one day and collected the next. They had it ready for me and opened the box for me to check it before handing it over. The food was fresh and tasty. There’s plenty and I ended up saving the cheese and biscuits for the following day. It does come with a pot of mustard and tomatoes but I don’t like either so not to include them.

WE WANT MANDY BACK! Mandy was coming in the truck for quite some time and built up a great rapport with the staff here, always had a great selection of food to choose from, since she has been moved off this stop, there doesn't ever seem to be cheese on toast! Mandy would go above and beyond to ensure if she didn't have it at breakfast stop she would bring it on the lunch stop! we miss you. keep being you and doing a great job!

Unfortunately, our birthday meal at this restaurant was quite disappointing. After receiving our starter, the main course took over 30 minutes to arrive. The service was slow all evening and, when asked about our meal, our comments seemed to go unheard. The server's disingenuous response and the added service charge only added to our frustration. I emailed the restaurant afterward and was simply told they would inform the chef. This is fairly poor service for the price we paid, comparable to a fast-food experience. Very disappointing. I won’t be back to this restaurant or any other ls in the group anytime soon
