The Park View in Brighton and Hove

Downstairs was absolutely freezing, the radiators wernt on and even with our coats on the kids mentioned its probably warmer outside under the heaters. Starters chicken were really greasy and the kids schnitzels tastes like fish as though they are fried with the fish. Yuk. My pie was a massive disappointment. The veg was a pile of over cooked cabbage. That's it. No seasoning just like my Nan cooked in the 70s. The pathetic pool of mash was soggy and lifeless. The pie was ok absolutely not worth £17. Never again.

The Sunday lunch we enjoyed at The Park View was excellent. The food is cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. A thumbs up to the bar and serving teams, who were really professional and friendly. The fish and chip meal I ordered was absolutely top notch.

Came in to the Park View today (our favourite local pub) for a chicken roast. The kids have been looking forward to a hot meal all week and it definitely made their year. Thank you Park View, especially Ellis Mason.

Lovely Roast dinner. Highly recommend!

A short walk from our Airbnb with a great view of Preston Park. All four of us enjoyed our evening meals and there was a good range of drinks on offer. Service was friendly and the whole evening was very relaxing in this pub which a casual and pleasant atmosphere.

It's a shame the pub closed at 10 on a monday

Went with friends for dinner. Food was average, beer nice. Went to bar for drinks only served with food. Amazed that tried to add 10% service charge without our knowledge. There was no service this is a public house not a restaurant. We obviously refused to pay this service charge. Disappointing.

Fantastic pub with fantastic staff!

Had a lovely experience at The Park View, popped in for a drink with a friend and ended up staying for a good few more, the staff were lovely, food surprised me with the quality and presentation. Would and will definitely come back.

Midway through Christmas shopping we decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday lunch and it was the best we've had for a long while. Had the special roast lamb and it was incredible. Everything cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. Incredibly good value for money too with a beautiful atmosphere

Rainy Sunday fancied a road and walk over to the park view. Was quite busy and booking is recommended but they found a table and had an amaizing lunch! I had the slow pork roast and it was so tasty and nice! We will definitely be back!

Atmosphere was nice but drinks are too expensive. £9.00 for a pint of Neckoil and a pint of lime and soda! I wish I’d paid attention to the bill before I paid.

We received exceptionally friendly and courteous service from Lau at a recent meal we had after attending my mums memorial service. The food was lovely, and every need was attended to without too much fuss or intrusion. Thank you.

We made a booking for a large group of families on new year’s eve. The booking process was really easy and all the staff I spoke with were friendly and helpful. On the day, everything was perfect. The food came out exactly as we had asked and was delicious. We had a wonderful time and would like to thank all the staff for making things so brilliant.

Lovely food and good selection of beers/ale and wine. On the more pricey side but this is due to the location being near one of the most affluent/pretentious parts of Brighton

From our first enquiry at the pub, through the booking process with Kellie, to our delicious meal on Christmas Eve, everything was brilliant and far exceeded our expectations. We are a large family group and this was to be our big Christmas get together - as the organiser I really wanted everything to be perfect, and it certainly was! Emails were answered promptly, all our awkward requests (even the last minute ones!) were accomodated. Thank you so much to the staff who looked after us so well on the day (I wish I could remember their names!), they were just lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was great and felt really Christmassy! Our pre-ordered food arrived in perfect time like a well-oiled machine and our glasses were never empty. The food itself was absolutely delicious, thank you so much also to the staff in the kitchen we didn't see. There is nothing I can think of that needs improving! And I hope we will be back for our family Christmas next year :)

Accommodated with a lovely table for 7 on Friday evening just before Xmas. Bar staff were amazing- even down to their photography skills ! Looked after superbly by Evie, Joe, Lav, Ellis & James. The food was excellent all round (special shout out for the Hake).

Great service for our table of 15. The manager had great communication from the get go, I was able to book us in, pay a deposit, and pre-order with ease. My questions were answered quickly, and we ended up with a lovely table and great food. Thank you for accommodating us.

Unexpectedly excellent. I was very impressed with my vegan 3 course meal. My work colleagues, non vegan, all waxed lyrical about their food as well. Clean, great atmosphere, friendly staff, good service. Much better than expected.

Great venue for our run club Christmas party. Nice to have the whole lower ground floor and the bar.

Came for a roast with family, unfortunately it was freezing! No lights turned on either, so the vibe was a bit disappointing. Mess and stuff lying around, asked for kids menu but told that they didn't have any printed out. Some staff could do with better training, some were great and friendly though. Food was good, but went cold quick as it was so chilly in there. Will go to another pub next time with roaring fires etc for a nice cosy roast. Shame as it could be good.

Great evening for a birthday party!

We have eaten here three times within the last six months. The food has been really excellent on each occasion.

We have just had another family lunch (19 people) at the Park View and once again found the food to be delicious and the staff lovely and so helpful with everything. We ordered in advance as we were a big party and everything arrived to order and on time. The staff even took time to decorate the area reserved for us! Drinks orders were promptly managed. Everything was spot on. Out thanks to the whole PV team !

0 Truly awful Booked for 3.15. Stuck on a table with high chairs where my elderly mum and aunty could barely get on and off the chairs. Asked to move to normal table via the manager who greeted us with face like thunder, told us that there was no table available … 3 mins later there was 2??? So we moved downstairs and looked on the menu and could not order the roast dinner we came for on the app. I spoke to a barman behind the bar and he smirked at me and said by 3.30 we are done with roasts!! I really can’t get my head around that a large pub on a Sunday that people come for roast dinner are completely out of everything by 3pm?! They could have said when we arrived we have no roasts left but they couldn’t even do that. Gobsmacked at the whole experience.

Whenever my partner and I visit Brighton, we always make sure we come to this pub. Service is fantastic, foods always great and you get made to feel like you are a local! Look forward to our next visit!

We took our group of Rainbows- large group of girls. They all enjoyed tasting and voting on their favourite kind of chips. Staff were really friendly and helpful with the kids, and food was enjoyed by all. Thank you for such a pleasant experience!

This is basically our local pub. We go here for drinks, but we often eat here as well. The staff are lovely. There is a wide range of drinks, there is almost always somewhere to sit. It has a great, large outdoor area on several levels. It is dog-friendly. You can get a full-scale meal here or just small plate nibbles. A very nice pub all round.

Not a bad place to visit for food. It was a sunday roast did find the veg a bit chewy, roast x2 near £40 so i would expect veg to be made to order and not pre cooked. Understandable on meats etc but not veg so that was a bit disappointing.

We came here for lunch on a Sunday. We called in advance and asked if there were any tables free. Answer "maybe", treated with short shrift. There was a small guy at the bar who looks like Will Poulter, who we spoke to on the phone. Very rude, as if he was doing us a favour for serving us. We asked if there were any tables free and he told us to go and check ourselves. Strange as this is what he is paid for. Left and went elsewhere. Zero out of 5 for customer service. Clearly hiring the wrong staff. This guy should not be anywhere near customers.

Lovely relaxed pub with drinks and great food.

Looks great but the food doesn't match the new interior. UPDATED haven't been for a while, tried to recently and won't bother again, we waited outside which is fair enough considering the circumstances but had one member of staff walk straight by us twice and not even acknowledge us and say, "Hi, I'll be with you in a moment" two more spotted us from inside...still nothing, so we left. It is a real shame, the owners have obviously put a lot of love and effort into making it look great but the staff don't share the same passion.

I loved this pub with such a large space and a magnificent beer garden, which is divided into several levels, which makes it a more intimate and comfy place. I also like that it is a little away from the town centre and noise, thus becoming a small oasis

Lovely pub. Not a fantastic selection of beers and waited over half an hour for some Padron Peppers when the place was practically empty.

We had an excellent Sunday lunch at Park View, which is clearly packed with locals but also attracts custom from outside the area. Spacious, yet with an old pub feel it had significant family parties enjoying their Sunday lunch there and all in a really convivial atmosphere. My only gripe was ordering via QR code at the table. In the end, fed up, I actually went to the bar and ordered there instead. Very friendly service, drinks slightly on the steepish side but food, first class.

The Park View is one of my local pubs. Right next to Preston Park with the busy Preston Drove and tree lined Surrenden Road, it's a great location. The garden is definitely another strong point of the pub in the summer with loads of seating, different areas with different feels and just a lovely aesthetic to it. Staff are friendly but the food is pretty pricey, as are the drinks, but its hard to find many places that aren't expensive pub wise these days. The inside of the pub looks good with varying seating areas and bays and there is a downstairs that can be hired out for functions. Overall, a good pub (to start or finish at) that I pop into once every few weeks (generally just after I've been paid though).

We booked the function room with food. The food was fantastic. I loved the private outside terrace. The barman, Theo, was brilliant. He couldn't have been more professional or helpful.

This is a decent pub with friendly staff but I reckon most of them are students as they simply don’t know how to pull or pour a pint properly. Continental larger or IPA’d that look like a glass of water, absolutely no head and bewilderment if you ask them to fix it. I have dined there once and the food was solid. I pop in every now and then so perhaps the standard of our might improve!

Very disappointing meal for a birthday celebration. Let’s start with the 2 main courses- spiced chickpea salad with added chicken. A bowl of overly pieces of dry frisée lettuce, and a few pieces of overly chargrilled chicken. Very few chickpeas, and some pomegranate seeds. The dish was tasteless and unseasoned. Perhaps the chef should try the dish. Second main course was duck salad. Revolting. A bowl of wet watercress, two strips of carrot and two strips of mouli, and 4 pieces of soggy wet duck. There was a puddle of watery liquid in the bottom of the bowl. Duck should be served with tasty crispy pieces of duck. Pudding was creme brulee. Also hugely disappointing, an overly large dish filled with a few millimetres of what tasted like scrambled egg. Awful. Serviced with an ugly hunk of a ‘biscuit’ that looked like a farleys rusk and tasted over cooked. An expensive horrible meal. time for the kitchen staff and managers to try their own food. Other pubs in the area offer a far better standard of food.

We booked the lower ground floor of the Park View pub for my partner's birthday party. It was a great party! James managed the bar & the whole evening perfectly & we can't sing his praises highly enough. The room has its own bar & outside area & a very nice ambience. Many guests praised the buffet. From the booking, through to sorting the details of the buffet & drinks & music with Kelly & then James's superb & sensitive management of the evening we were left feeling very happy that we had chosen the Park View
