Alcampo Lounge in Brighton and Hove

We have visited Alcampo lounge a few times so I'm surprised to see the reviews as we have always had a positive experience. We visited Alcampo recently for breakfast and you are able to order via the app which makes things quick and hassle free, the food is always quick, hot and very tasty and the restaurants always has a nice relaxing atmosphere.

Booked the venue for a large group on a Saturday night. We come here a lot because the atmosphere is always great and I’m pleased to say that we were not disappointed. The staff are amazing and couldn’t do enough to make it a really special evening, the food was delicious hot and tasty.The cocktails are lovely. Thank you for providing outstanding service , highly recommend

Service and setting great. Lounge Eggs would have been nice if the muffin spinach and mushrooms under the eggs was hot.

Good food and some different meals to choose compared to the usual pub menu

Poor team was a little rushed off their feet at the start of the bank holiday (Thursday night) but they smiled and laughed the whole time making it a great experience for early birthday drinks. Thanks to the whole team, especially the last and gent working the bar, for looking after our group so well during a busy rush and keeping us fed and watered with some tasty food!

Lovely big bar/eatery on London Road. Family favourite, good menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Go out of their way to cater for Mums and Dads of small children

Had a lovely birthday meal today with my friends. Nice staff ,and good food.

I thought the quality of the food was only mediocre especially seeing as it was reasonably expensive. If anything the serving was rather small ,I had the buttered chicken with fries. It was virtually the only thing available that didn't include rice. Just enough food for a small child. It did however have a nice atmosphere , their table service was non-existent , order and pay on an app. when the waiter did turn up with the food I couldn't understand what he was saying. .... He was hurried and speaking over us rather than to us. Having said all of that, I would try again and maybe try different item off the menu. 😁

🌟🌟🌟 - They excel in atmosphere but fall short in food quality Love the vibe and energy of this place. Staff are friendly and the menu has a good selection. I just think what let's them down is in the quality of the food. I ordered the tuna melt sandwich and it came looking kinda sorry for itself. It would have been better with more fillings, bolder flavours and better bread. 🥪

Awful experience. Took 3 attempts to make chips with cheese one of them had a pubic hair in the cheese and the rest jus tasted burnt and undercooked at the same time which is totally baffling to me would never go back

Nice food with great vegan/veggie options (Lounge restaurants are a great chain for this) but service was a bit subpar, server didn't seem to know the table numbers but was maybe new? There was also no checkback on whether the food was okay.

Visited the 'Alcampo Lounge' a couple of weeks ago with the family. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by the ELABORATE array of various decorations of numerous quirky fashions. However the restaurant seemed to be lacking in atmos regarding its guests - it was DEAD A DODO..? Despite this ... Service was speedy and exceeded expectations, with friendly staff going ABOVE AND BEYOND, albeit a few minor mishaps here and there. Our table was decorated with inviting red candles, which was a nice touch. (We booked - although it really wasn't necessary).The food was above par - deliciously succulent burger accompanied by SCRUMMY fries, the best I've eaten ... in a while. HOWEVER, much to my disgust, upon further inspection, I noticed that the burger was medium-rare - NOT TO MY TASTE. No wonder it came out so quickly... They must've showed it the oven and decided it was cooked...! But, by the time I had spotted it, I had already devoured over half of the blasted thing. This had disastrous affects on my guts later on, it played HAVOC with my IBS. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my main course and moved swiftly on (but not as swiftly as my bowel movements) to the dessert menu. I ordered an ice cream sundae which was DELECTABLE. My companions ordered the 'chorros'.. BUT to my astonishment they only gave us ONE...!? As if they could fluff our experience up any more ...? Upon confrontation, they confessed they had RAN OUT OF THE CHORROS, tight fiends...?! They took the money and ran..! Conniving scoundrels ... Luckily they reconciled their sketchy error by offering us a dessert on the house. Thanks Alcampo..! 😃👍 I should think so too, we paid for it ...? Despite all hiccups, lovely experience, would consider gracing the staff with my presence in the near future ... 🤔 P.S... spectacular bogs ..! I should know I spent a good chunk of my evening in there. 😃👍

Used to go here all the time and have always enjoyed it. However went yesterday and waited an hour for food (after being told the food would take half an hour) and it one of the items was lukewarm. We had a 6 year old with us so it wasn't ideal. The staff looked like they were working really hard, so obviously the manager needs to employ more.

A really tasty gluten-free burger was devoured.

Luke warm food , fried egg not cooked properly, tea had a strange aftertaste. Chips were hot and tasty , staff welcoming and helpful, decor a little gloomy . Just a shame about the food so wouldn’t return.

One of a good few "Lounges" up and down the country (we have Albero Lounge in our native Bedford), we knew we could get the same level of attentive service and gluten free guaranteed, and we were exactly right ✅️ The tapas cones highly recommended, especially the chicken wings!

I eat in Brighton every month with work, and this has been my favourite eatery in over a year of visits Staff were decent, friendly and prompt service. I had the beef brisket chilli. I don't say this often, but I would eat it again, straight away, if I had the room. I haven't eaten out that good for years. I'm no food snob, I love a weatherspoons like anyone, but this is decent food at a great price. I will try to get my work colleagues to this place on every visit Thank you!

Been to one of their sister sites in Epsom and this one is just as nice. Staff were lovely, food was tasty and we were served quickly. There were some rowdy kids in there (parents letting them run riot) and the staff dealt with the situation well (without prompting) Sold out of Coke Zero but these things happen. Will return, thank you

Staff are great, very good and fast service. Good quality food, but did find a long black hair in my food, but they sorted it out quickly and offered me a refund along with a portion of chips.

Plenty of space and great service

Chouette lieu avec une riche carte végane et végétarien. Prix abordable et la nourriture et très bonne. Nous avons pris 3 tapas avec des mac n cheese et des frites de patate douce en side. Nous avons eu pour 22€ environ, et nous nous sommes régalés. L’ambiance est très chaleureuse, il y a même des jeux de société.

I came here with a big group mid week a couple of weeks ago. There were two staff B and Remi who, even though it was busy, managed to keep up the service and serve food. I come here a lot as they have great food for coeliacs and it never disappoints x

We go to Al Campo weekly, friendly staff and lovely coffee. Super dog and family friendly! I have one gripe and it’s happens every time! Why serve cold breakfasts items like eggs and muffins. They are always cold! Why? It completely spoils the food

I’ve been to Alcampo Lounge a few times and I have always enjoyed my experience. Food never seems to disappoint.

Nice atmosphere, good location, reasonable prices but the service is disappointing. If you're not in a rush and you're patient, you will get the drinks 20-30 minutes after you order

Lovely place for lunch or after work catch up. The service is lovely and the pitta bread with hummus is gorgeous.

Nice food and lots of choice for all dietary requirements (vegan and gluten free menus). Loud atmosphere and average friendly staff. Very kid and dog friendly. Diner atmosphere.

Good place and a nice vibe to have coffee but you might need to bring your own coffee because they make the most awful coffee i’ve ever had

Came for a visit at Alcampo lounge with a few mates this evening, food was nice and service was as good as it could be considering for half of our trip there one guy with tattoos and a cap being aggressive and overall rude to the two young blonde girls he was working with. We heard him swearing and shouting at them whilst they were taking peoples orders, I don’t see why as it wasn’t very busy? Can’t fault the girls though as they were lovely and obviously trying their best.

So-called music is a racket and too loud

Great venue with brilliant decor food was excellent, great vegetarian options, lovely atmosphere staff are very friendly and polite, will be visiting again, very reasonably priced and a variety to choose from, just loved the decor all kinds of seating in stylish colours and comfort.

Great lunch just like we always get at a Lounge restaurant! First visit to this one and it was excellent. The same great menu for coeliacs too! We will be back

Great Lounge bar, good atmosphere, good food service and staff. Lighting is a bit dim in some places but a minor point and the same as many lounge bars.

First visit to one of the 'Lounges' and the easiest way to describe it is a premium version of spoons. Alcampo staff were friendly and accommodating for a relatively large party. Great option for drinks however, food was disappointingly average and would probably say a spoons beats it. Maybe we just hit a busy period, but items in dishes were missing and weren't presented all that well.

A big welcoming space. This can also mean it's often bustling and loud. Wetherspoons for people who boycott Wetherspoons

Popped in with my family for breakfast this morning. The staff were just so nice, so courteous and did theur best to find something my Mum could eat with her allergy. The shakshula was ace. Thank you and Happy Christmas.

Lot of gluten free options. We went around to find a restaurant ths thave gluten free. Found it, and we'll come again for sure. Very good recipes, good service and nice ambiente.

Was there on the 18th December 2023 for a Christmas get together. We were told to order our food a week in advance, which is fine. Though on the day unsure why, no place cards so sat anywhere. The servers would come out shouting out whatever dish they had in hand. Which some people couldn't remember what they ordered. It means the orgsniser of the group trying to direct where the food is going. Which means the organiser is unable to enjoy the festivities. The tapas wasn't really enough to go around and weren't great for sharing. The main meal wasn't really Christmas themed.. Unless you count the one pigs in blanket on top of the Turkey and Ham Pie. There was only two sprouts with the veg. The Christmas Burger was chicken, could it not be turkey burger. I think the vegetarian/ vegan option was a cheese and onion pie.. Mushroom Wellington would be a better option. My partner found a bit of plastic in the middle of Turkey and Ham pie, so he left more than half.. Though thankfully they didn't charge him for his meal and he got a free complimentary glass of red wine. It didn't stop me finishing my meal (Not sure what that says about me), I told him to go the server without bringing too much attention because didn't want to put other people of eating. When it came to paying there was confusion, people left at different times and paid has they left. When it came to the last person there was three meals that hadn't been paid. The server wouldn't allow us to leave until we settled. It took over 30 minutes to resolve, many messages and calls to see who had paid/ who hadn't paid. In the end it appeared that everyone paid, they found the missing monies in the reserves. So all of this left a bitter taste in what was meant to be an enjoyable evening. Big venue but wasn't busy so unsure how to excuse the poor service. I guess better planning on their behalf and for our party next year a better venue. I know plenty of plenty of people that like this venue and say the food is good. So maybe an unfortunate day for us. 21.12.23 The response to my review was pretty poor, for that if I could take away the one star I would. I do not remember the staff having a good laugh with us all. Secondly the whole contesting of the bill was very distressing. Having to call and message everyone to make sure who paid. Which in the end everyone had paid but it was a mistake by your staff processing payment. So if we had a good night it was ruined from that point on.

I come regularly and it's genuinely one of the few places where I feel truly comfortable, I've come even on my own and the customer service is seriously great! Despite feeling good throughout I had someone ask me a few times if I'm feeling okay which is lovely to see the concern people have for their patrons. I usually get nervous in crowds and in public spaces however this place was exactly what I needed to feel comfort outside Wish I could rate it higher than 5 stars as they're worth that and more!

Twas a cold and misty morrow, i shivered to my timbers in the cold but thus! A beacon of light! A fellow by the name of callum behested upon me a double espresso, i took a sip ALAS! I shouted, this may be the most italiano fantastico espresso that has ever met my lips, certainly the best thing that met my lips by the time my wife left with our garden groundskeeper, like a beacon of light, like the sun on a gloomy eve, this one double espresso made by the silly bar man will guide me for years to come

10 of us came for Christmas meal last Thurs 15th Dec. Good food but you seemed to be short on staff behind the bar. Liked the Christmas crackers.

I really like the place this evening was my first time i though ill check it out as am working only 2 min away .. the food came a bit cold but the lovley member of staff that apparently just started working there a week a go was very caring and sort everything out straight away that I am pleased for . Nice ambiance and friendly staff definitely recommend

A nice venue with good reasonably priced food. Not too crowded and a high chair was available. Only dropped a star as not all of the menu items were available. Friendly staff which is vital.

It took me too long to visit this place. It's a very warm and relaxed atmosphere with casual, friendly and welcoming staff. You can just sit and order and pay from a QR code or order and pay at the bar, it's nice to have the choice. The food and coffee is lovely and I highly recommend the Lounge Eggs with bacon from the brunch menu, just perfect! Very decently priced too, especially considering this is Brighton and things are edging close to central London prices. Will definitely be coming here more often, even if it's just for a coffee.

Waited over an hour and a half for food. When it FINALLY came, it was cold and tasted old. It was gross. The service is DISGUSTING!!!!!! Horrible staff, rolling their eyes when leaving our table, back chatting, slamming our drinks on the table making them spill. They all had a disgusting attitude. You’d get better service at Karen’s diner than you would here. 100% would NOT recommend if you want nice food in a decent time with good service.

Why does the music need to be so loud early in the morning? I actually quite like the place but having to compete against excessively loud bland music is infuriating & pointless. If it's like this next time I'll not be bothering again....

Been a couple of times whilst in Brighton and it was amazing each time, the food always comes quickly despite it often being busy and the tapas is presented beautifully. Highly recommend the arancini!

Huge cafe / bar / restaurant, great for breakfast, brunch, whatever. Large menu with something for everyone, lots of veggie & vegan options. The food is very good and the staff are friendly and seem to enjoy being there! I shall return!

Late afternoon, lack of staff, food was OK, nothing that would make me go out of my way to go back. Atmosphere was OK, but good place to setup laptop and work from for a few hours. Quiet enough to make and take some calls and do some work.

Fantastic gluten free menu, and the food is delicious. Lots of choice, and for a chain restaurant it feels very individual

Really disappointed by our experience overall. Service was really poor, food also not very good. Have been to.a few of this chain, including this one in the past but have to say this was the worst by far. The first thing I would say is the staff were very clear to say there was no table service and that we could use qr code or order at the bar however their ordering site was down which they did not tell us so the qr thing was a waste of time. The food took a while but it did come together, some of it was cold, presentation was ok but not great and the quality was below par. One of our dishes was so oily and burnt it was returned but I had to take it to them at the bar because came to ask if our food was ok or if there were any problems (this was at least 25-30mins after we got it). They offered to replace it but we had of course all finished eating by this time so that was a bit lame. I would say the restaurant was pretty empty as it was a Wednesday so they have no excuses for poor service. I see why they get you to pay upfront. I wouldn't come back in a hurry. I wouldn't tarnish all the other lounges with this though, as I said, I've had better experiences from other places.

I visited this place for breakfast with my parents. It's a relaxed environment with solid breakfast options, decent coffee and welcoming service. Good value too.

Part of the "Lounge" chain Al Campo is great if you want somewhere to sit and eat casually. There's a variety of seating and table options and the tables are well spaced out so it never feels cramped. You order at the bar. The food is burgers and salads type style, with good meat and veggie/vegan options. They do nice non-alcoholic drinks as well as the usual bar drinks. It is all on 1 level so good for accessibility, there's an accessible toilet on same level. They play loud-ish music so may be difficult for hearing impaired people, but sometimes it's virtually empty and you could probably get them to turn it down. It's an informal, relaxed place to meet for drinks or food, and is averagely priced.

Took our daughter out. It was a bit quiet but the food was good and lots of gf options.

1st time in Al campo while in Brighton. Superb food,ambience, BUT best of all was the Lovely staff. I recommend 100%

The food was great, the service was a comedy of errors by the "roaming manager" thank goodness they had some lovely staff members to compensate for the mess that was made of our orders.

Silly little things that when you're paying the same/slightly above comparable places in central London, it seems a shame. Service was good and we got there before the morning breakfast rush, so speed was ok too. But we asked for the eggs "very well done", which they noted on the system, but came out wet, meaning my friend and I ate separately as they remedied this. Just a shame as we'd wanted to enjoy breakfast together. My "extra" portion of a side was certainly not extra and I was asked if I'd eaten any prior to informing them... with the same person only having given me the plate 15secs earlier. The 'extra' portion that then came was the same size as the original, thus confirming I hadn't received it. Smashed avo was lovely, but surely no one would pick to have it on ciabatta bread. Sourdough surely? Just seemed a bit odd. And whilst we are flexy vegan, just to say that they do not have my options for vegans, and no logo/key option to highlight them. Just incase you're that way inclined. Decor and vibe is great though! I wouldn't say don't go, but for us it was just a bit below expectations for the prices to go back to ourselves.

Came in last night for dinner. The girls working were all so lovely. Hattie brought over our order and was very attentive. We will definitely be back soon!

Nice place to kick back, do work and let the time pass. Food is good and its a calm atmosphere. Very spacious too so you feel comfy.

We went here for lunch, the service was very slow, my husbands meal came up first and we was waiting for the rest of the meals to arrive expecting them fairly soon after my husbands was served. But we must of waited nearly 10 minutes. Two of our group really enjoyed their meals, I had the burger which was rather dry and over cooked. We have been there many times and this visit wasn't great. One of the problems that I think was happening is that people were ordering at the bar, but also you had other people who ordered from the table through their mobile phones which meant the wait was a lot longer then it should have been.

Some staff brilliant but others not so keen. Food mainly good but getting expensive.

Whenever we are in Brighton, we make it a point to try to go to Alcampo Lounge. They have a very good food menu and good drinks. Just be aware that you need to go up to the bar to place your order. Otherwise, they bring your order to your table when it is ready. We really enjoy going there. Go during the day and there is no trouble getting a table.

I had I really bad experience. My food came out cold twice! It was in a deep bowl and obvious wasn't heated correctly in the microwave. I asked the waiter to arrange a refund because my food was inedible. He ignored me. The food ordered by the rest our group was mediocre, the small portions were unsatisfying. The venue is cool though, I'd only recommend for drinks!!!

A great place for families with nice selection of food and drink available, plenty of space and a great kids menu. Ours loved the mac n cheese!

LOVE this spot! Its a chain but its run really well! The staff are so friendly and positive. The manager is great! Great food and drink at a reasonable price - this place is open late and has lots of tables - it has big long tables so good for family lunches or meeting with a group of people- you can work on your laptop (lots of plug sockets and the free wifi is OK ) / play board games for hours and unlike other cafes in Brighton they will not rush you! Just a great relaxed place with great staff my favorite cafe to work from in Brighton 10/10

Great food but pricey for small portion sizes!

No complaints. We ordered a few tapas dishes to keep us going til lunch. Very tasty.

Two friends and I ate lunch here yesterday, and it was disappointing. Myself and one other ordered breakfasts, and on both the hash browns were stone cold and inedible. The mushrooms were lukewarm, and the toast was hard. The service was okay, but our ketchup bottle was taken away without a word before I had had a chance to use it (this is only a small thing I admit, just pointing it out 😊). Usually I enjoy eating at the Lounges, however yesterday was really disappointing.
