We are a walking group and pre-ordered our take away sandwiches to eat on the village green. Everything was perfect with wonderful service. Many of our group bought coffee and cakes and were raving about it as well !

We had been given a voucher for afternoon tea and had finally got round to using it. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, the teapot huge (yay). Lovely scones and a fantastic range of little cakes to accompany these. All in all delicious.

A hidden gem tucked away behind the main road which we found by accident. This has become our favourite place for lunch with a good choice of tasty food. Breakfasts are great but the addition of a fried tomato would bring them up to perfection! As well as breakfasts, we particularly enjoy the Welsh rarebit and the Italian meat flatbread. Really good friendly service. The cakes look wonderful but we always seem a bit too full - we’ll have to resist the lure of lunch and come for afternoon tea!

Amazing layout and amazing staff! So friendly and welcoming. The food was ok, although the ingredients were good quality I feel like the cooking wasn’t quite right. Good fresh produce. Amazing customer service. I would prefer if the hash browns were cooked longer so they weren’t soggy but overall taste 10/10. Will be coming back but with more specific cooking instructions!

We were camping down the road and decided we needed some sustenance to get us through the long days and nights…I called Anne the night before and ordered 28 (yes 28!) breakfast baps with a variety of fillings for the next morning. No problem at all. Anne and her team were ready and waiting at 9am the next morning with beautifully wrapped, named and absolutely delicious sandwiches!

Excellent little cafe. Accessibly, dog friendly, happy and attentive staff and a lovely menu. I had a wonderful Eggs Florentine. We found it by accident when we got lost in the car - a real gem. It doesn’t come up if you search cafes in the area in tripadvisor so maybe they need to change their profile.

Wow. Found this place when visiting the area. It was absolutely amazing. This was exactly what we had been looking for. Great portions, great choice and great food. The best scones we have had in a very long time. We even took some cake for home as they looked amazing. Will definitely be back!

The pantry recently provided us with amazing afternoon tea boxes and an amazing gin and tonic cake for a hen party. They were so helpful and specific dietary requirements were accommodated very simply. I would absolutely recommend this fabulous local provider

During these very strange times it was lovely to treat ourselves to some sandwiches and cakes from the Pantry, Newick. Always fresh bread, packaged with totilla crisps, salad garnish they were really special. We then ‘argued’ over which cake each member of the family was having, as two wanted one of the cakes chosen; which was amazing. So we shared it and it was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had and I’ve sampled many cakes in my time. My wife absolutely loves the apple and oat cake cake, so we bought two, to ‘last’ her into the week, I’m not even sure they lasted until the next day! So thank you for brightening up another family lunch at home.

This is a little gem, tucked away in Newick. We called in for lunch and found the place to be spotless, with friendly staff and a very good menu. The coffee was great and the eggs benedict excellent. A real treat.

Called in a few days ago and greatly enjoyed sandwiches and coffee, so we came back with friends today to try a brunch. Completely fabulous in all aspects: super coffee, best quality ingredients for the brunch and lovely helpful staff too. We found parking easy and we reserved a table in advance - turned out to be a good thing because every seat was taken by mid morning. Highly recommended!

Breakfast with vegan sausages, poached eggs, beans and hash browns.I thought there had been a mistake and the sausages were pork! No, they were indeed vegan and delicious. They are the nicest non meat sausages I have had. Well done to Ann for sourcing them. Eggs cooked perfectly. The pantry was very busy today, it is so nice to see the people of the village using this lovely facility.

What a great little place! Our son and his partner booked a table for us all to have lunch when visiting Newick for the Firework evening and parade. The Pantry is a warm and friendly little place with a very good selection of cakes, sandwiches, drinks and meals. The staff are very helpful and friendly too. They offer a loyalty card for coffee where after a number of purchases the bearer is entitled to a free drink. The only parking is 'on road' but this is possible with a little forethought. I would suggest that it would be worth contacting them if anyone in the party is disabled. (Somewhere in my mind, I think I saw a notice saying that there was a ramp, but I may have that wrong!) The place is very clean and has a toilet for the use of customers. For those who are parked on the Green, it is only a few minutes walk up the road. Good prices too, so give it go if you are in the area.

I found this because I was looking for somewhere to meet a colleague - I had no idea that somewhere so nice was hiding in Newick. There was a wide selection of cakes and the ones we had were delicious, the staff were friendly and we had a nice comfy settee to sit on while we talked. We'll be back

Fantastic little café. Lunch with friends reserved a table as it gets pretty busy. Had flatbread chicken and salad £6.50 which would be at least £9.50 anywhere else. Cakes delicious and enough variety on the menu for all taste

A very nice little place who were only too willing to go that little bit further when we opted to go slightly off menu. Food and cake were excellent as was the service. Highly recommended if you are passing by or local.

Having gone for a coffee, once there we were unable to resist the tempting items on the various menus. There is one for breakfasts, one for light bites and lunches, and a separate kids menu. My friend opted for the quiche, which she declared to be delicious, and I chose the welsh rarebit. However, the latter was too much for my small appetite - there was two large slices with generous topping - but my friend was able to help me out when she finished her quiche! My friend had a coffee and I had a pot of tea for one (which held two cups). A word of warning though.....I defy anyone to walk past the cakes on display without resisting the temptation. We ended up buying a slice each to take home! There is a very relaxed, homely feel to the place, with a mixture of comfortable sofas/chairs and tables & chairs. Service was welcoming and friendly - you would think you were with old friends.

Firstly, The Pantry is in Church Road in the Village of Newick, NOT Church Street Lewes, as listed. It is very welcoming, comfortable and relaxing. We did not feel rushed in any way - a lovely place for coffee, cakes and chat. As it was lunchtime I had delicious homemade carrot & coriander soup and my friend had a large sausage roll and toasted teacake. After we had relaxed for a while over our coffees we decided we could not resist some cake from the mouthwatering selection. After some difficult decision making we opted for the coffee gateau - an enormous slice which we shared. They have a very varied menu to suit all tastes, so great for light lunches. A word of warning though, if you go for afternoon tea they do close at 4pm.

We came across this unassuming converted shop in the small village of Newick, East Sussex. The staff were very welcoming. The tea and coffee were hot and freshly made. It was hard to choose from the selection of home made cakes and sweet treats but the Coffee cake won.
