Holy Cow! Ice Cream Company in Lewes

We visited as part of a day trip from London with our young daughter. The service was friendly as were other local customers, who knew the staff and clearly visit regularly. We tried the apricot, coconut and vegan chocolate flavours; all were delicious but we particularly liked the coconut. I’m coeliac, so was delighted to see gluten-free cones and cakes on offer and staff were knowledgeable about allergies - very thoughtful and something we would go out of our way for. We would definitely recommend a visit! We will be back.

Lovely ice cream! My personal favourite was the the lychee sorbet. I go here a lot in the summer.

Just the best place in Sussex. Wide variety of flavours inc vegan choices. Unusual combinations too and lots of seasonal treats. Coffee is a firm favourite, smooth texture with a good strong coffee flavour 🤎 Everyone who visits leaves with a satisfying smile of delight. Bravo Holy Cow!

Okay I was parked about 20 feet up from this establishment when it was closing and had the lovly plesure while waiting to pick up friend of mine leaving my engine running idle for all of 4 minutes a very rude member of the staff dictating to me after taking the time to walk the 20 feet to turn my engine off and how its illegal to leave my engine running wen parked . After politely exspalining my vehicle has a catalytic converter as well as the frind I was picking up appeared and got in car so not iddelling for more than 5 minutes well was more after this relentless woman persisted going on and on I rolled up my window and drove away. I dont think I'll ever be a customer deffo a eco nut working there

After a 30km walk we headed straight for the hut on the seafront, it's very popular and the queue can be a bit long but it is worth every minute, fantastic locally made ice-cream or you can walk up into town and go to the shop. Please remember to be nice to whoever is in the hut as there is only room for one person and it is very hot in there.

Wonderful ice cream but the extremely slow service really needs managing. Long queues and staff just taking their time. Get bored waiting.

Possibly best ice-cream ever! Just had the most marvelous ice-cream from this small shop off one of the main streets in Seaford. Incredibly delicious, all three flavours, one of them a sorbet. The portion was huuuuge, but still, at the end I found myself licking the rest off the bowl - by that time I usually have a feeling of „enough, enough“ but not in this case. Too good! Staff super friendly, young girls, couldn’t be nicer, let me try some ice-cream for the next time. All in all, the kind of experience that makes a holiday perfect. Highly recommended!

Great ice cream with generous scoops. Offers both traditional and unusual flavours, which you can sample first. Queues can form but they move quickly.

Myself and my family and friend regularly visit the Holy cow. It's home made ice cream at its best. Lots of usual and unusual flavours to choose from.

Deliciously tasty ice cream and gelato. Generous with the scoops as well! Lots of different flavours to try and always new ones to try out too. Staff are always friendly and polite even when they are really busy.

The ice cream is the best I've found in Seaford and it's really good value - £3 for one 'scoop' but the scoops are enormous! However, if there's a queue the wait times can be quite painful. I've never been to the beach hut but the shop in town usually just has one person serving and they're very slow.

Best ice cream in Sussex, England,The world......well Sussex. Fantastic ice cream, great unusual flavors along with usual favorites. Complaints of long waits at seaside vendors.......of course a small outlet can't cope with a massive surge of customers. But worth the wait.

This review is for the Holy Cow shed on Seaford Beach. The ice cream is good quality, but is it really worth the wait? We joined the queue when there was about 10 people in front of us.It took over an hour to reach the front of the queue. It was a very hot sunny day and everyone was complaining how slow the service was. It took about 7 minutes to process a scoop. Yes, I timed it since there was little else to do while I waited. The choice of flavours were extremely limited. It must be frustrating to queue for an hour, only find the flavour you were queuing for is sold out. Altogether, a frustrating and unsatisfactory customer experience. If there’s a queue, give it a miss.

What a find. Ice cream at its best, freshly made, interesting flavours. Not surprised to see a queue outside the shop last week when the sun came out. If you’re lucky you might find some delicious homemade scones also for sale- scoop them up before they get sold! Don’t miss this shop.

Had lovely strawberry ice cream from the little pink shed by the sea. Only complaint was that the man serving the ice cream was rather slow and had to wait about 20 minutes to be served.

Went here, yesterday and had their Hot Cross Bun, ice cream. Omg, this literally blew my mind, and was the loveliest, ice cream, Ive tasted, ever! If you’re in the Seaford area, give them a visit, I guarantee, you will not be disappointed. 10/10

What a terrible shame this new management has declined the business in every possible way! Beyond her rude and aggressive behaviour to clients and terrifying to her staff threatening "to have a word with them because they feel pressured to give in to clients" (!), she has halved the size of her scoops, gives only one loyalty stamp per purchase no matter if you get one or four scoops and when you ask for a new loyalty card she won't give one until you come back "in case you misuse it or lose it"! Well one thing she has lost for sure is a previously very loyal customer, so she can hang on to her loyalty cards and bad manners with total lack of customer service! I will never be back and spread the word although no doubt she is her own bad review! Terrible!

Easily, the best gelato you can get in the UK! Definitely coming back!

Just had probably one of the best ice creams from Gerry at this little hut down on Seaford Esplanade. Regular £2.60 or Large which is so cool for £3.60. Yum and worth a visit for all you ice cream fans. 5 out of 5 for quality, taste, size and value for money. Nice guy Gerry in the hut too and knowledgeable with s great back story too.

After a day out in Brighton, on the way home to Eastbourne, I brought my family to this amazing Ice Cream shop, I'd read about online. From the moment I got there to all of us finishing our ice creams, some 20 mins later, the parlour had a steady stream of people visiting and buying. The ice creams we all had, and all agreed on, were incredibly tasty, and the 2 scoops were generous in size. Well worth the money we spent, and up there with the very best ice creams we've ever had.

We use this frequently and are never disappointed. The ice cream and sorbet flavours are always tasty and plentiful and the staff friendly and helpful when using either the shop or the hut on the beach. The scoops are a perfect size, with a smaller cone size available for toddlers. Perfect.

Ice cream was good but be prepared for long wait at busy times.

Ice cream to die for, you would struggle to find any where that has better. I have had many ice creams here and every flavour is delicious.

Great ice cream and selection of flavours, all of which are handmade! Friendly staff and service every time. My favourite is a waffle cone with a scoop of Belgium Chocolate and a scoop of Madagascan Vanilla, it's always brilliant (and massive). Looking forward to trying the waffles and hot chocolate at some point. Keep up the great work!

My husband and I came from London to Seaford beach. We had Holy Cow ice cream at the beach shack. I had the chocolate flavour and my husband pear sorbet one. It was amazingly delicious. You could taste the intense flavour. We thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream. The lady serving was also very professional and served good portions. Overall fantastic experience! We will come again just for the ice cream!

Great selection of ice cream, also did cakes. Had a lovely Banoffee ice cream which came in a waffle cone, paid £3.50 for 2 scoops which were very generous. Really creamy, fresh tasting and a joy to eat on a very hot day. Friendly service, located in the high street not far from the beach

The service was good even during Covid restrictions the Sorbet I had was very good, had a good strong flavour and a good size and the person whome I was with said his ice cream was excellent.

We visit at least once a month. Amazing freshly made ice cream, and they also have dairy free options. Utterly delicious and great tea, coffee and waffles as well. At Christmas time they make mince pie ice cream and you can order and buy takeaway...

Just so good! The menu is constantly changing, so you can never get bored. Locally fresh made ice cream for all. I love it here, everyone should pay a visit. The prices are fair for what it offers, and the scoops are massive. This is the perfect place in Seaford.

I was trying to get to the train station in Seaford to get back to Brighton, passed this place, went inside, and came out with a cone and directions that made it a lot easier to get back to the station.

On the first few photos here, the ice cream looks like it has a gelato consistency, which is very smooth and creamy and can easily be put on a cone with a spatula rather than a scoop. In reality, the ice cream was bitty and...

I've tried several delicious ice creams here - particularly love the coffee. Flavours of ice creams and sorbets change regularly, but always great quality and home made! Now I've discovered their cheese and rosemary scones are wonderful too and there's quite a bit of competition...

Walked past this beautiful little cafe by chance after an all day walk on the Downs. Friendly, very welcoming but more importantly very very good icecream, don’t miss it!

Tried it few times and in my opinion they have best ice cream around with a variety for vegans too. I loved every flavour I have tried, so does my son. The place is lovely decorated very welcoming and the staff are very nice too....

Despite the plunging temperatures we stopped in for some ice cream. Great choice and flavours, really good quality. Friendly staff and good selection of coffees, although did not try. It is a bit of a hidden gem but worth the very short walk to find.

Holy Cow really is a god send to Seaford! They serve the most delicious homemade ice creams and sorbets - banana, Belgium chocolate, peach, Turkish delight just to name a few of my favourites. But by far the best ice cream I have ever eaten...

Best ice cream you'll find anywhere!

Delicious ice creams, we were four and we have tried several tastes. Lemon sorbet was a little bit too sour, so make sure you try a sample before you take it. We have also tried beglian chocolate, orange vegan and raspberry which were also very delicious. Madagascar vanilla was definitely our pick :) Good point that the place has also gluten free cones! Highly recommended place if you are around.

Amazing ice cream flavours, always busy so make sure you get down there early on the hot days, am used to seeing the sold out signs up by lunch time.

Lots of special flavours on offer, and all natural with knowledgeable salesperson assisting choices ~ how made, ingredients. The end product ~ delicious. Particularly impressed by a raspberry ice cream that owed its flavour to real fruit etc. Will be back for more!
