The Pantry in County Durham

Stopped here randomly for lunch when driving through Tow Law and were very glad we did. Excellent home cooked food and amazing value for money. I had the delicious hot roast beef roll and chips - £7 and delicious. Friendly and efficient service. Go, and leave a big tip!

A diamond amongst cafes. Great home-cooked food, friendly service, generous portions at prices that would please even a Yorkshireman, and unbelievably good chips of the kind that used to be standard decades ago, hand-cut and deep fried in fresh lard I imagine, keeping their texture taste and freshness even when cooling, and putting most of the chips in more expensive places to shame. We followed our steaklets with two large portions of minty aero cheesecake, which I imagine was home made too, deliciously rich and creamy. It's worth coming up the A68 just for this - well done ladies!

This is a good little cafe selling good wholesome food at very reasonable prices. There is always a good varied selection to choose from. My friend and I always like to call in when we are passing.

Stopped in Tow Law en-route to Hadrians wall. Parked outside The Pantry which looked very busy ,but took a chance and went in. Initially we had to take two tables for two but couple were leaving and we moved to the vacant table. Looked at the quite expansive menu and ordered 2 x Ham , egg & Homemade Chips, A Conrned Beef Pie and a small all day Breakfast along with 2 cokes and a tea and a coffee . We had to wait a while for them to cook everything Everything cooked fresh,no microwaving. Quite surprised at the quality and the size of the portions,more than adequate . Te bill came to a total , for 4 people, at just a few coppers short of £25 and that included extra tea and coffee. To say how busy the place was the staff never seemed to get flustered and were extremely courteous and friendly . Would recommend to anyone passing through Tow Law to give it a go. I know we will call there if in the area again. In short a Fantastic place.

Great little cafe staff are fantastic as is the food great range on menu at excellent prices you can't beat it for value for money

This place serves the most delicious home cooked meals in huge portions for no more than £5 in most cases. Where else can you get a huge roast dinner for £4.95 and a big breakfast for £3.95! There can often be a wait for food, but it is worth it trust me! The Pantry is open from 8-3 Mon to Fri. Enjoy :)

I stopped by for a coffee and a treat. I was shocked at the £1 daily deal. Worth a friendly visit. I look forward to stopping by again.

Dropped in here on the way down south and popped in 10 days later in our way home. Nice wee place. The scones and cake (on way down) were lovely.The toasties we had on our return visit were just what we needed. Lots of locals having what looked like delish home cooked meals. Staff were very nice and friendly too. Really reasonable. Will pop in next time we are passing.

If passing through Tow Law a visit to the pantry is a must. Fresh food with a good choice .Our last lunch was chicken dinner with tender chicken fresh vegetables Yorkshire pudding and gravy yummy. Lots of localeat here and they also do take outs with friendly staff .Well worth a visit.

The food here is real home cooked food. The portions are a good size and the staff are always friendly. Its a great cafe to call in to have a good homecooked meal.

I live in towlaw and come here every day or every other day food is always fresh homemade and cooked to perfection the staff are really nice and the price you pay for food is great !

The outside isn't very welcoming - in fact I thought at first it was closed! Really pleased I checked because the service the food and the prices were all excellent. We were a bit late leaving and the waitress was cleaning the tables - all very thorough, good to see. Full marks!

Had a great meal in here once again.....the food is all homemade and tastes delicious, will be visiting again very soon

Popped in yesterday after a walk in the area. We had the steak pie, mushy peas and chips and the garlic chicken with chips and salad. Both meals were home made, piping hot and delicious. We will make sure we return ASAP.

Recently moved to area and thought we would try a large breakfast each.i can honestly say it's the best breakfast I've had in a long time nice clean place and friendly staff

He revisado la despensa en enero de este año, y tengo que decir que sólo ha mejorado. Podría haber sido la Navidad Menú de navidad y decoraciones que hizo aparecer de esa manera pero la salchicha bocata rápido y una taza de té era genial. Bien hecho, volveremos.

Tenía algunos negocios para cuidar de ley hoy, arrastrando un bocado rápido, así que necesitábamos para la despensa. Un lugar muy agradable, el personal no podía hacer lo suficiente. Tenía un sentimiento de comunidad local. Servicio rápido con productos frescos, bocado sabroso y excelente precio. Cuando esté en la ciudad volvería.

Visited here for lunch. Staff were really friendly and helpful.Great selection of food and drinks with lots of gluten free options available. I had the plate of fish with gluten free bread. Also it's a lovely deli with a great selection.

Lovely fry up to start the day. Everything cooked perfectly. Cafe is spotless and service was very friendly and fast.

What a fantastic find, had mince and dumplings and it was delicious for the two of us and it was less than a tenner. An added bonus is that the staff are wonderful.

Just moved to Tow Law recently and thought I'd give The Pantry a go for a spot of lunch on my day off. The cafe was very clean and well presented, we were quickly seen by a member of staff. The food came quickly and was very nice but sadly it all went wrong when a member of staff came to clean a table down next to us and used a scented sanitiser that we subsequently breathed in which put my partner off her lunch which she then left. The food was also very well priced, it was such a shame that the cleaning incident spoiled it. I'd suggest using and unscented cleaner in future whilst people are sitting eating.

Today was our second visit to this café, the first was three years ago when we were very impressed with the quality, cleanliness, service and value for money, we went hoping it had maintained it's standards and we were not disappointed in fact it has probably improved. We only had tea and coffee and bacon buns, all of which were excellent but they offered a great variety of wholesome dishes at great value prices. They even provide free papers to read. It is refreshing to find a budget café that offers good food and service in a clean bright premises.

Fancied a cup of coffee whist in the area on holiday. Could easily miss it when driving past. Very plain decor but a varied menu that would suit any taste. Had a scone with jam. It was good and filled the gap. Not really a tourist attraction, but a good stop over to refresh yourself and the prices are extremely reasonable

Stopped in Tow Law for a coffee on way South in the Pantry Cafe. The Pantry itself looked nothing special from the outside but just shows you. What a lovely place. True, it's not the place if you want fine dining but for basic staple food it's unbeatable. Great menu, unbelievable prices and good friendly service. What more could you ask for. Definitely going to be a feature of my stops on way south in future.

We visited yesterday and had a lovely cuppa and scone here! Prices are competitive, the place is nice and clean, could be a little more cozy! The toilet was clean and more than adequate

A good breakfast and friendly folk looking after you, if you want a break and some food on your journey well worth considering a stop here.
