The Palais in Glasgow City

Had a really nice time when we visited here. The cocktails were delicious, really great atmosphere. We didn’t have food but it looked amazing, so will definitely be back for food & drinks.

We’ve been to The Palais numerous times and had a really good time. We arrived tonight to catch up with a friend and were met with an agonisingly annoying singer songwriter who played for three hours. We sat outside initially (would’ve been much better if there was some outside heating). We came inside and sat and tried to have a good night inspite of the music for three hours. We spent about £200 on booze throughout the night. At 11:38pm a table had ordered pints etc and when we went up to order one last round of single spirit and mixer we were told the bar was closed. On a Friday night. The other tables drank well past when we left at 11:45. The pub is so good but has all of its priorities wrong.

The problem with palais is that they had a singer songwriter who, whilst being very talented, tortured the soundsystem around the venue while we were eating, so we had to shout to hear eachother speak at points. We also stayed until closing and they called last orders 45 minutes before closing on a Friday night, even though we had table service since 8pm. The outside area would be more popular if it had heaters. The staff were very friendly, but by about 11:15pm it felt like they were in a hurry to get home and we weren't welcome.

Has a nice atmosphere, ambiance, and decor. Good selection of malts, however six quid for a pint in Duke St. is really pushing it. This is what I'd expect to pay in the Merchant City or the West End. The irony being that I purchased three pints for £18 and left. If it were £5 a pint, I'd likely have had a fourth to round up to £20 and then leave. Staff are always cheery and friendly. I can't rate the food as I have yet to try. However, any dishes being brought from the kitchen looked and smelled really nice.

I love this place, a really nice cosy local pub. The girls who served us were so lovely - really chatty and friendly, and paid loads of attention to Tommy the dog. They were also very accommodating to my sister who has a broken leg. Highly recommend :)

I’ve been coming to Palais regularly for a long time now as it’s very local to me and the staff are always friendly enough and accommodating, however after today I don’t think I’ll be back. It’s been getting more and more expensive the last wee while, for no improvements and when I arrived this afternoon I was appalled to see that the prices have gone up YET AGAIN!! Well over a fiver for the cheapest pint?? Unjustifiable considering there are several other pubs a hundred yards away where you can get a pint for less than £4. The staff seemed really embarrassed when telling me the new price. The girl behind the bar had already pulled my pint so I reluctantly stayed and drank it and while I was there another person came In and was also shocked at the hike. Pure unjustifiable greed by whoever owns the place, I’m sure the staff aren’t seeing the benefit! I know times are tough but this is completely outrageous. It’s five pounds for a tiny bowl of chips too. I usually only leave positive reviews but I can’t help but feel a bit gutted that I won’t be returning to my favourite local. ANOTHER LOST REGULAR

£17.60 for two pints Madri and a Guinness. Its a local bar in Denniston , but city centre prices.????

Brilliant wee pub - food is always fantastic, staff are lovely. Quiz nights are a blast too. I would say the prices for drink are a bit pricey, but you do get the quality that you pay for most of the time.

Magical place with nice staff and good food. The pies are good. I do enjoy a pie. Pints are good I do enjoy a pint will return for a pie and a pint

Lovely vibe and friendly staff. Never dined as were meeting for drinks pre meal elsewhere, but the menu looked good, so would be back for food.

Our fave local (and its 15 mins away) food, bevvy, tunes and staff are all top class. Whether it be a weekend celebration or a quiet lunch/ coffee The Palais is our go to! And super dog friendly :)

Best pub in duke street hands down. The food is amazing plenty of alcohol choices and football on TV etc also very family friendly for anyone with young kids.

We had a special family birthday celebration at the Palais for a group of 14. The staff were excellent (esp. Frankie who went above and beyond), the food was fabulous and the atmosphere was amazing. Would strongly recommend The Palais and we will definitely return.

My first time visiting this establishment. Lovely place inside with a highly presentable bar area. The food was excellent haggis Bon Bons with a whisky sauce were outstanding and could eat them all day. Main meal was Battered Fish and Chips with mushy peas which was absolutely lovely. Although this was my first visit I will certainly return. Highly Recommended 10/10

Don't go unless the you book a table. Staff quite happy to throw you off table for a booking less the an hour's notice Don't care about you cos it's not the staff fault

Great Pub quiz on a Thursday night!

I just had a pint of chieftains, but I felt the atmosphere was really great, and an enthusiastic bartender. Will definitely return for more.

Absolutely love Palais and feel so lucky to have it in our community! Great food and drinks and clearly an establishment that takes pride in its work. The staff are always lovely and welcoming, I'm always happy to be able to bring visitors here as the food and atmosphere are great.

We came for a quick drink and nibble in the beer garden and were blown away with how delicious the food was. Even the sauces were homemade.

Chyba najlepszy steak pie, jaki do tej pory jadłam - bardzo mięciutkie kawałki mięsa, pyszne. Puff pastry na wierzchu pięknie wyrośnięte, dobrze upieczone, chrupiące (jak zawiał wiatr, to leciało przez całe Duke Street, tak delikatne i lekkie jak piórka 😂🤣😉). Piękna poduszeczka. I warzywa - wyraźnie było czuć że na maśle robione, także dobrze przyprawione i chrupiące - takie najlepsze. Bardzo polecam, pycha danie.

First visit, likely my last. Popped in for one and the pub quiz started shortly into my visit. Didn't participate and went to the loo before leaving and the host decided to single me out amongst the crowd for wearing headphones in the bar as I did so. There is no need to single out individuals over the microphone to the entire venue. As I caught this and spied others looking up at me it created an unwelcoming environment to be in. Thankfully, I was leaving. Service at the bar was great, but this left a me with a very poor experience. If you plan on minding your own business, I would not recommend.

Food is very good! Nice environment. Drinks are a little expensive but it’s definitely worth a visit.

This bar sells both food and beers. Although the staff are friendly and chatty I personally feel it has a clinical boring atmosphere. The prices for the area are also way over priced!

Great wee pub nestled in Dukes Street. Amazing staff, great beers on offer. Definitely a hidden gem in Dennistoun would highly recommend. 5*

We visited today for lunch as we had been looking forward to trying the food. It took about half an hour to get our starters and then another hour to get the mains. When the mains came my chicken burger was so dry and the chicken was burnt I couldn't eat it. The waiting/bar staff kindly took this off the bill and apologised and said the chef was stressed. On a Tuesday afternoon with around 5 tables to serve I feel the chef might be in the wrong profession. To make matters worse my partner had sickness and diarrhoea when we returned home a few hours later. I hate leaving a bad review and it's such a lovely wee place we were just so disappointed.

Palais is consistently great. Excellent drinks selection and the food is my favourite in Dennistoun. Staff are always friendly and helpful - special thanks to Sam who always goes above and beyond.

My sister booked here. For a small after funeral service. I was impressed by the service. The food was served quickly and was plenty to go round. We had a few drinks. The prices were very good. Staff attentive, polite and welcoming. I'd recommend trying the palais.

We liked it. We stopped here while strolling around Glasgow to eat something. The staff was welcoming, the food was tasty and we didn't pay a fortune actually. We tried their haggis bonbons, steak pie and roast. We would recommend it, absolutely.

It’s been a year or two since I visited this bar but it’s undergone somewhat of a transformation. Pub quiz Thursday meant the vibe was buzzy and busy. The bar area is quite a nice place to sit and it has some seating for those wanting to eat. The draught selection was really good with Pravha, Blue moon, Madri amongst others. Dog friendly, cool and clean it’s a perfectly pleasant place to hang out

Absolute belter of a place!!! Suberp eatery and pub! Dean was outstanding,he has professionalism down to a fine art! Nothing was to much trouble... From accommodating our largish unbooked party to putting up with our demands lol Starter was not to my liking...(my refined pallette thought it to spicy)!! Order was changed ,hassle free Drinks were exceptionally priced and the service was constant... Lucy out server also deserves our praise,lovely polite and nothing was to much bother! Already made the decision to return ,before I left pub! This place is a hidden gem... Well not now! Avoid overpriced Town prices,and struggling to get a taxi home.... Support your local palais! First time visiting this bar yesterday, thought it was excellent. Good guiness, music and staff were all sound. Will be back for sure.

Been to The Palais many times and always had a brilliant time. It was my birthday tonight and they allow dogs so they were ofcourse my #1 option for my birthday night with my family so I could bring him. The quiz was on and the quiz master was an absolute buzz, what a guy. All the staff are incredible, so attentive and pleasant. Tunes are absolute bangin ALWAYS. If u like good music then come here. Food absolutely incredible aswell. Big shout out to Carly who served us all night, she is an absolute delight and made our night. What an angel. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. A true east end gem ❤️❤️

Frankie was super attentive and kept us topped up all night. He is a fantastic barman and an asset to the place. The Palais is always great fun and has a great community feel to it.

Fantastic and very well priced food in plentiful portions. Delicious tasty dishes are to die for, they even did chicken dishes just for the dog, he enjoyed it so much he had 3 portions!! The staff were so friendly and attentive and fussed the dog as well as making sure he had his own bowl of water which was regularly filled up. We have visited this pub on both our trips to Glasgow and our friends have also visited once more, we will definitely return

Went here yesterday with my family for the first time, waited an hour for our food to come out, I had the steak and ale pie which was average and my daughters boyfriend had the same but he had to wait longer as he had mash and it came out separately, my husband also ordered the mussels but got chicken instead, having said that the staff were really friendly and apologetic and we got a refund for my husbands meal

The Palais has been my local now since they opened a few years back. Always amazing service and food along with great chat from the staff who always make us feel welcome. I'd like to thank Carly, Cassia and all the other staff for making this my favourite place!

Been here a few times now and found it okay, dog friendly, we took our wee Bertie in and he loved his Chicken!

Booked for a table for the football which they promoted on social media as a football night. I asked for a table with a decent view of the tv and that i would be specifically coming down to watch the game. As i arrived, we got sat right next to the kitchen serving area with 2 chairs facing away from the tv. When i asked to move to empty corner table behind us the answer was that it was reserved. Didn’t I reserve too and ask for suitable seating ?? So we ordered a few drinks which was over priced. West end prices in east end. Expect your average pint to be over £5. We sat there and watched wrestling with music on till the second of kick off as the server forgot to stick it on. As the game started we asked for the commentary to be turned up. Which we got a reply of no we don’t have have a license for that. Even though i had been in countless times to watch the football. The barman Frankie was the one serving us. They had posted on Instagram the day before with everyone clearly watching the game at the restaurant with all the chairs turned around. So we thought we’d just finish our drinks and go as it’s not what they had promoted and felt uncomfortable. As we where finishing our drinks our team got scored into. Frankie jumped up to celebrate the opposition team scoring and quickly realise that was a mistake. After getting treated differently i could now see why. We where in to watch the rangers game and the celtic game was the night before. Wasn’t like he supported Ajax, put it that way. He instantly looked as us and i said “that doesn’t make you look any better” which he replied “i know”. We got up and left. I am all for competition but there time and a place. Don’t be celebrating oppositions goals when you’re in the work place serving fans, it looks terrible and is disrespectful. We thought this would be a nice environment and a neural place to watch the football. I was wrong.

Atmosphere is nice. Tables could be doing with a bit of a clean and the drinks were expensive compared to other places on Duke Street.

Previously really liked this bar but standards have dropped on revisiting. I ordered a starter of calamari which came in a steel cup with a napkin stuffed in the bottom to make it look more full. I'm not sure why this stuck so badly but either up the prices and serve the correct portion or reduce the portion and serve it in the right vessel rather than serving something designed to look different when the diner will realise you're duping them in minutes...

Wee bit expensive considering it's location but the food is great and the staff are wonderful.

My first visit to Glasgow and by far a pub I truly enjoyed! The food and staff werevsk amazing. I even met locals who were so welcoming.

The place has a great atmosphere, run by a team of really friendly staff who look after you well. Not normally one for leaving reviews but I would recommend the Palais to anyone.

Good range of taps and smashing cocktail menu. Good TVs with Sky/BT/Prime - good for the Scotland games! Thursdays quiz tonight is brilliant and they do a cracking Sunday roast too. Lovely, chatty staff, all round superb bar!

It was good as so was the food.

Good pint and unfortunately one of the worst burgers I've had. The chicken was way overcooked, more burnt batter than anything of substance. My partner got the veggie burger which was also pretty poor. Would give it another go as I'd like to see the place do well but would need to see improvement, some simple but tasty food is all it needs.

Really nice bar, the food was great and everything was a reasonable price! Servers were also lovely!

Probably the best fish and chips I ate in all the UK. The staff was amazing. I can't really give less than 5 stars.

Went out for a last minute meal with a friend and found this bar on the east end, central location and lots of local free parking made it ideal for us to meet. The menu was well varied while still staying true to the "pub grub" that we are used to and kind of expect, staff were knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly and chatty throughout our meal, popping by and checking on us and having a quick chat at the same time. The food itself was fantastic, best burger I've had for a while and at a very reasonable price. Overall a really good experience and a great relaxed casual atmosphere with a good bit of life about the place, would definitely recommend and will be back!

Amazing pub with great food and drinks, fantastic staff, vibrant atmosphere and a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude. I had a Sunday roast and they brought the dog a bowl of cooked chicken. He didn’t want to leave! Long live the Palais

Visited The Palais Friday 18th March. Received the warmest of welcomes from Ewan and this continued throughout our visit. Lovely ambience and great fish and chips. Would highly recommend this great bar, looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you Ewan for looking after my friend and I.

Visited with my sister in law and neice. Severs were very accommodating and helpful. Food, cocktails and coffee were delicious. The kids meal was large so suitable for large appetites.
