Great fish and chips takeaway. Friendly staff, efficient service and great vegan options

Food is far to expensive for what it is. £15.50 for a fish and chips for one with curry sauce. I get their trying to go up market. But it was no better than any other regular fish and chip shop.

Been wanting to try this chip shop for a while but found that the chips are hard and dry judging from the reviews a year ago this chip shop used to be much better but has now gone downhill and I could do better my self at home .

The good stuff first, quick service, great fish & chips plus chicken & chips. Now the bad news I'm here on holiday and your to far away from where I live but will be back next time in Bath.

Disappointed, we have had amazing fish and chips from here , but not this evening . It was obvious too many orders had been taken . Our chips were undercooked and greasy . Maybe a lesson learned is not to take so many orders to picked up at the same time

Best chippy chips I have ever had. Out delivering shopping and popped in on my break as a nice change from a supermarket meal deal. My god they did not disappoint. Chips were fresh and very nice. They were devoured in 15 mins. Well done guys.

My wife and I ordered a takeaway this evening using the online click and collect, preorder option. The system was fast and easy to use and our order was ready when we arrived at the appointed time - 16 Minutes later. The Haddock was brilliantly fresh, bright, white, and moist. The batter was crisp, light, and tasty. The chips were chunky, golden, and moorish with a slightly nutty flavour. Presentation and packaging was excellent...no plastic in sight. We didn't eat in but the location and presentation of the venue is top. The price is what I would expect for a really good experince. We will definitely go again. Best Chippy in Bath.

Great chips and nice selection of options to go with it, including vegetarian fritter options. Definitely worth ordering in advance as they're clearly very very popular, and worth taking a bag with you as they charge extra for these (but they'll remind you to bring a bag with you anyway)

Always been a fab and sometimes it’s not quite as excellent but tonight 109% delicious, the best chips. Amazing large piece of cod. Gorgeous tartare sauce. Click and collect. Worth every penny.

Went to the Oyster Shell just out of curiosity. Have to say I was surprised at how expensive it was, but once we sat down to eat it in the car, the price wasn't a factor. Well presented stunning fish and chips. We visit regularly. Would highly recommend . They do GLUTEN FREE

Very pleased to find that now open on Mondays. A large chips was enough for three of us to share at home with home grilled burgers. They were great. Super fish tonight but chips perhaps a little underdone. Tried the chickpea croquettes which were really tasty. Mushy peas and tartare sauce fine too

Enjoyed it better when first open. Recently, served sloppy fish which looked like raw batter in the middle. Chips tasteless and barely cooked. Server picking skin off his hands over an empty box waiting for an order to be put into. 🤢 whilst two others on till play fighting. Odd! Standards have dropped. Shame

Spotless, great staff, delicious food. It’s a little out of the way but we’ll worth the effort of finding it.

Really overpriced for a chip shop, it's not a gourmet restaurant even though the man at the back is wearing whites. The chips are starchy and not much fish, more batter than anything. Probably give one more year before there's a charity shop in its place , being honest with my review

Fancied fish and chips tonight with the wife, looking at the menu I though this is a bit pricey but thought it must be decent as it doesn’t seem like your average chip shop! After waiting 10 or so minutes I knew it was being freshly prepared to which is a must for me !! Customer service was great , the 2 girls serving was very friendly with smiles all around, the chef could of tried to smile though!! But I get it he’s a chef. After returning home to serve it up I was very disappointed the cod was more of a children’s portion size and there was certainly not enough chips! Which also could of done with a extra 5 minutes in the fryer! They looked how I looked when I was anaemic! Yes not good I know!! All in all for the price I paid which was near £12 for cod and chips I would not return! And also you have to pay 20p for a bag which should come with the price!! After all it’s not a plastic carrier bag where they have to charge for it!! And I was not the only one who refused to pay it either ! Take away, so atmosphere not important, but the girl serving was friendly. Fish tasted very fresh. Huge portion for the medium, I couldn't eat it all.

Easily some of the best fish and chips I've ever had, their tarter sauce is also excellent and definitely worth the extra cost. On the higher end of what you'd expect to pay for fish and chips but definitely worth it as a treat every now and then. Pleasant staff and you can see everything being made while you wait. Wait times are also very reasonable, from ordering it only took ten minutes to prepare. I will be returning to try the scampi soon!

Good fish n chips, but the large cod was more of a regular size and was expensive. £14 for cod and chips.

I really like this place - the fish tastes fresh, batter is delicious and the chips are great and the vegetarian options... Well they exist which is something! It's not cheap but we've found it consistently good, and that's worth the price. Staff always friendly and efficient. My only genuine complaint is that they're not open on Sundays 😢

We had Cumberland sausage and chips to takeaway - they were fantastic, right up there with the best we've ever had.

Well it's super expensive, but it's a very good fish & chips, different type of fish depending on availability, very fresh, not bathed in oil, and the fries were well cooked I also love the cheaper local fish & chips too but if you want to treat yourself it's perfect. Remember to order because it quickly gets crowded in terms of ordering.

Really disappointed with my last two orders chips massively undercooked, mushy peas cold and I mean cold and a sausage completely cremated…I don’t mind paying whatever price and I know things have gone up. But I don’t think I’ll be back next time I will go to Bath Fish and Chips in town…shame.

Fish and chips in Bath have been awful so far (way, way better in London, from whence we came) so I thought I'd try a delivery from this place, as it puts itself above the norm in pricing and marketing. And it's a sister to Scallop, which we've tried and found reasonably good. "Medium" cod and chips is £10.50. I was hungry and suspected it would not be substantial, so also ordered Scampi (which I hadn't noticed also came with chips). It was lucky I did, as the handful of chips that accompanied the small piece of cod was beyond pathetic. The fish was nice, but not much of it. Whilst their website waxes lyrical about the "Scottish langoustine tail scampi", it looked and tasted exactly the same as any other out-of-a-packet scampi. Even after a couple of minutes in a very hot oven, the chips were soggy, undercooked, and greasy. I expected mushy peas to be a home made "pea puree" of the type served in classy fish restaurants, but no. The standard out-of-tin type, and a tiny pot. An absolute rip-off of a meal. Premium pricing, but no better than the cheap and cheerful chippy down the road. We've been here 4 months and have finally found a great Indian. It seems, however, that great take away fish and chips don't exist here, unfortunately.

Sadly I write this review only because of the ludicrous 20% price increase. 6 weeks ago fish & chips were £9.95. Now, for the same fish & chips £11.95! I appreciate the cost of most things have gone up but for the humble fish & chips to have a 20% increase is sickening and for that reason I will not be going back & feel the owners should reconsider their increases!

Great fish & chips. I live in London so my expectations for food is high! The bread was INCREDIBLE. The service was so kind and amazing. They let us bring in our new puppy, provided water for him. Super accommodating. Kelly at the front desk was great. Definitely would go back again when I return to Bath!

Great fish and chips, consistent every week we visit. The only shame is that the loyalty scheme suddenly disappeared at the same time as the price for cod and chips went up 15%. We had at least seven stars towards £10 off which we could have used this week!

I'll start by saying, I've had great take away for them in the past, this one, however, was bad, real bad. The cod, subjectively, was perfectly most and cooked, the batter however was flabby and wet. The chips were okay, your standard fair. Everyone knows that fish and chips is nothing without that light crispy batter, that's the essence of the whole dish. I'm so disappointed, not just because I've had good takeways before from them, but more because they're a 'premium' chippy... £12 is absurd even for the best fish and chips in the world, let alone sub par soggy garbage.

Loved my chips but what the hell is up with the curry sauce no offence. I would go for an Irish curry over anything; Chinese if it has to be and very last choice would be whatever you’re serving here. Thanks, but randomised my dinner out

High price. Cod was very good. Batter was average. Chips were only just cooked and not very crisp, so extremely unexciting to eat. Chip portion decent, but fish was pretty small. Overall poor value for money

Thank you for your kindness in preparing an extra small portion of fish & chips for me to take to my Great Aunt in her care home yesterday. When I’d previously visited from Manchester, she’d mentioned how much she missed proper chips. Well, she was absolutely thrilled when we turned up with a fish and chip supper, her with her own little box. They were absolutely delicious and she wolfed them down!!!

When the shops initally opened the fish portions were very generous. You really felt that the fish was the star of the meal. However each time we order the fish portions are getting smaller and smaller, (I thought that I had a child portion.). Your customers aren't fools, as It's a lot of money for a small bit of fish and a lot of chips.

We ordered food to be delivered and were not disappointed. My wife had the scampi & I decided to try the fishcake for a change. They were both lovely and the portions were substantial. Delivery driver was excellent. Thorough recommend delivery option, £5 charge.

Proper chip shop chips. Nice fish with crispy (not soggy/greasy) batter! It sounds so simple but it's amazing how many get it wrong! Can't fault the Oyster Shell! It's a really really good chippy! Keep up the good work!
