Came for a birthday treat, following a friend's recommendation, and I wasn't let down. Smaller than I imagined it to be, but this probably helps give it a nice buzz. The menu on the day was varied, with each dish bringing a distinctive taste, and it all felt a lot like having seafood tapas, which is no bad thing. Thanks to the chef and all the staff there who were first rate and made my lunch very enjoyable.

Staff had no clue what was in the dishes. Head chef not on site. Huge charges, for what I can only assume is reheated food. Calling this post disgraceful does not refute the facts. You charge for, but do not deliver freshly prepared food. You are disgraceful.

Wow, wow, wow! Arguably our single greatest restaurant experience. The quality of the seafood was perfection. Every single dish was amazing. Even had me enjoying various options I've previously ruled out! Seriously exceeded our (already high) expectations. The service was similarly impressive - sincere warmth, guidance, and personality. It's a small restaurant, which actually adds to the experience. It's not cheap - though worth every penny. Parking is a pain in the bum. Really nice pub opposite. Treat yourself and thank me later!

We booked to go on a recent visit to Bath as it looked so good. But when we arrived and looked at the prices we left again without trying. It was more expensive than London - for 3 people we were advised to get 9 ‘tapas’ style plates which at around £13 a plate would have cost almost £120 and that’s not including drinks and dessert. Had it been a swanky place with great service, we might have given it a chance, but it wasn’t (although it was pretty with the fairy lights).

We called them up without reservation and they were able to seat us straight away. The menu is all small plates so they recommend you choose 2-3 per person. My other half is a vegetarian, so whilst there aren’t any vege main dishes he ordered 4 sides and absolutely loved them. All my seafood dishes were delicious. I had the monkfish, swordfish and the lobster and crab fritters. We’ll definitely be back!

Nice place in a small town outside Bristol. Table reservation with credit card and penalty charge for no-shows! (Place was empty on a mid-week evening 🤷♀️) Service was impeccable. The two girls waitressing were friendly and fast. The food is „interesting“… Traditional oyster were fresh, Korean BBQ-style ones were battered and covered in a spicy sauce. Quite a waste of good oysters. Other food we had was okay; overall the only thing really noteworthy was the price: around £15 for a small plate is quite steep. 3 plates, one veg side dish and a bottle of wine: £85. Overall 3 out of 5*

I find it absolutely ludicrous that someone should feel the need to leave a terrible review on a local independent business that has yet to open over a spelling mistake?!?! Went on a Sunday afternoon, restaurant was half empty but still took 30 minutes to get a drink. Food was ok but overpriced, expected so much from this place considering the reviews but left disappointed. £105 for a meal I would have said was worth £60. Service was chaotic, at least 4 dishes not available. Not a good experience. Pork belly is literally the size of a postage stamp, Charged £5.50 for one extra scallop. I hate to leave bad reviews and love to support local businesses, maybe it was just an off day? Won't eat there again though.

Absolutely wonderful dining experience, we will be coming back for as long as they'll have us 😀. Went for our anniversary and had a little card waiting for us on the table - which was a really nice touch. We were sat by the kitchen so the other half was enamoured by the open kitchen. The girls serving were wonderfully attentive, more than happy to explain the experience (tapas style). We ordered 4 dishes, 2 sides and they were really accommodating, and we got a dish or two every 15 minutes or so, so we were never drooling for long 😅. The kitchen was very calm and relaxed (the other half says the chef seemed to have a genuine passion for the food; and that came through). Highest compliments to the chef. We got to the end of the meal and were satisfyingly full and content. Yet still we were tempted to try just a few more bits! We have every excuse to go out of our way to come back.

The food is simply amazing, one of my favorite restaurants in Bristol! However if you want to organize a dinner for over 8 people (higher number than the online system) the customer service it is just dreadful... Called a first time, told me to send an email with my request, I've waited 4 days without a reply and decided to call again and told me the easiest way is to do it online, well thank you! If I book for 8 people at 20:00, I dont know if you still have space for another 4 people for example, you need to tell me from your system, how many people have been booked for 20:00 already. Well, seems they are just too busy and don't care, it's a shame... This does not happen on another restaurants...

I read a lot about this restaurant because I had an event to celebrate and also I love fish. This restaurant is way too expensive for the food they serve. No ambience, uncomfortable seats, we knew that the place was small, but we were confident about the quality of the food. Even though the service is excellent, the waitresses did her best to let us know how it worked best with the courses and how to order. Unfortunately it didn't meet our expectations, but it wasn't because I was fussy, the place is expensive, the food comes in ridiculously small portions and awfully presented. With the latter I am referring to the monkfish that we got in a plate for two, little consisted of two pieces of the fish to share with the other person, floating in a bed of finely smashed peas (reminding of vomit) . We followed the menu, and the menu was absolutely exorbitant and we were still very hungry. I am not a big eater and I normally have small portions, but this was too little for me, too. We went back home and we cooked a meal. I was so sad about it, because it was a special occasion and it was completely spoiled by the wrong choice of the restaurant. If you fancy trying, get ready to order many things to get a decent meal but remember that it comes with a significant bill.

From the moment I stepped into the Lazy Lobster, nestled in the heart of Chew Magna, it was clear that this was not just another dining venue but a destination for those in pursuit of a unique culinary experience. The restaurant, with its tapas-style approach to dining, offers an array of dishes that are as much a feast for the eyes as they are for the palate. Watching the chef meticulously prepare each dish added a layer of anticipation and charm, making the wait an integral part of the experience. This isn't about opting for tapas; it's the delightful way food is served here, fresh and full of flavour. The food is exceptional, each dish a testament to the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The Lazy Lobster's menu, though focused on fish, brings together combinations that might seem unconventional but harmonize beautifully on the plate. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I was thoroughly impressed by the creativity and execution of each course. Service at the Lazy Lobster is as remarkable as its cuisine. The staff are not just friendly but genuinely passionate about their offerings. They're eager to explain the dishes, share recommendations, and ensure that every guest's dining experience is nothing short of spectacular. Their enthusiasm is infectious, making every moment in the restaurant feel special. The atmosphere of the restaurant is equally commendable. Despite its modest size, the space is alive with energy and positive accolades from fellow diners. It's a place where the communal joy of discovering great food creates a vibrant, welcoming environment. Given the restaurant's popularity and limited seating, I would always recommend pre-booking to secure a spot. It's a testament to the Lazy Lobster's allure that it's worth the travel, drawing in food enthusiasts from afar in search of culinary excellence. In conclusion, the Lazy Lobster stands out as a must-visit destination in Chew Magna for anyone looking for an extraordinary dining experience. Whether it's for a special occasion or a culinary adventure, this establishment promises an unforgettable journey of taste. The combination of excellent food, impeccable service, and a lively atmosphere ensures that the Lazy Lobster remains at the top of my list for dining destinations.

Sorry, but not impressed. The "tapas" prices are very good at luring people in until you discover that each plate is miniscule in size (two good size fish bites pp per plate) and you need about four plates pp to feel even remotely full. At £14 a pop you are the pushing £100 for a meal for two! If each plate was a fabulous creation then fine, but the cooking is just not that good. Yes a few nice touches, but too many sauces and not enough fish. The "high" table by the way is spectacularly uncomfortable AVOID. Service is magnificent, but be aware that plates arrive as and when. Had to wait a good twenty minutes for our last plate. Popped in for a pizza on the way home....

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Lazy Lobster and it was an exquisite culinary journey. To start, I couldn't resist the potted shrimp with toasted crumpet and Worcestershire sauce. It was a flavorful and comforting beginning to the meal. The oysters were impeccably fresh, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality seafood. The griddled octopus with red Leicester pomme purée was a revelation. The tender octopus paired beautifully with the rich purée. Next, the griddled tuna with pak choi, sauce vierge, soy, ginger sesame broth was a harmony of flavors and textures, a true highlight of the evening. The crispy spiced new potatoes were a delightful side dish, adding a satisfying crunch to the meal. But the real showstopper was the griddled lobster in Thai red crab broth with pickled fennel. The lobster was cooked to perfection, and the broth was a symphony of flavors, with a hint of Thai spice like tom yum that elevated the dish to another level. Throughout the meal, the service was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience. The Lazy Lobster offers a diverse menu that celebrates seafood in innovative ways, and it's clear that the chefs are passionate about their craft. If you appreciate seafood prepared with creativity and precision, Lazy Lobster is a must-visit. I can't wait to return for another gastronomic adventure.

We visited the place for dinner. The food was quite okay. I was expecting to be blown away by some amazing take on lobsters but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The lobster small plate and the potatoes were very very salty. The monkfish was cooked well but the flavour of the dish did not blend well so the fish tasted bland. The highlight of our meal was surprisingly the scallops and Vanilla panna cota. Would I visit this place again? No, I think there are other restaurants that offer better quality seafood.

I booked a table in June and followed this up with an email for confirmation. Unfortunately, I heard nothing! We drove over an hour away to the restaurant for our July booking. I assumed that my table was booked and I still wanted to make the journey as I had heard nice things about the restaurant. No table was booked and we were left very disappointed and had to leave. It is a very small place and they couldn't squeeze us in unfortunately. I have just spoke to the manageress who didn't apologise for not replying. So please be aware, to anyone reading this review that "Lazy Lobster" computer system does not pick up GMAIL or OUTLOOK accounts!!!!! You will not get a response:( *Follow up after your reply... Yes 2 months had passed because I had sent a second email and you failed to respond! I booked a table via your on line system which also seems to have failed. I followed this up with an email for confirmation. You didn't respond. I did however make the journey as I had heard good things about the restaurant. You didn't have my table?! I sent a follow up email. You also failed to reply to that email, hence me then calling you and then you informing me that you have trouble receiving OUTLOOK AND GMAILS. This is an honest review all be it that I have been waiting a number of weeks and to give you the benefit of the doubt to reply to my emails. The customer does not know that you don't receive outlook and gmail domains!! You showed no empathy when I called you. An apology would have been acceptable. You cannot use an excuse that you have been too busy to sort out email issues and you are certainly not too busy when speaking on the phone and for you to say how sorry you were that it spoilt my evening!

We had a lovely evening at Lazy Lobster. We came for my partners birthday and they wrote a cute card for the table. The menu was explained to us very well and we ordered as recommended. We were blown away by the flavours and the quality of the fish. This is by far the best fish we have had in a very long time. The restaurant is beautiful, chilled and welcoming. We just had such a fantastic experience. Well worth the 50min drive and we will be back! Thank you so much.

Had supper here for the first time today. What a find, best food I have eaten out for a long time and such a joy to have such fresh, well cooked seafood with amazing flavour combinations. Absolutely delicious, lovely ambience and service, I will be returning very soon. Thank you

I can't remember the last time I dined out and could not think of a single thing I'd change. Whether that be the food, ambience or service. We came here for a seafood tapas style lunch and we were blown away by the flavours, textures and general lushness of the food. 😂 You can view the bar and kitchen which adds a nice vibe and I'd highly recommend a visit. Scallops, gnocchi and the Brill were for me my standout dishes but the oysters were also plump and sweet

We were very happy with all we had, but simple side dish such a new potatoes were so amazing that we ordered an extra one. We have tried Prawns, scallops, mussels were so so good, monkfish and octopus. We had to wait a bit too long for the scallops for some reason. Happily would return, once we win a lottery! :)

Super fresh seafood that was killed by unnecessary additives, oysters and octopus was great, but fish and scallops not, too much butter, spices and salt, as if I was eating monosodium glutamate only, there was no taste of fish just the sauce, and scallops killed with all these flavor enhancers, seafood really needs little

I don't know how previous reviews were so positive, the fish itself was dry and chewy, the batter was soggy and had an odd texture. The chips were also soggy. I have had chips here before and they were awfully soggy. Peasedown deserves better.
