I don't know how previous reviews were so positive, the fish itself was dry and chewy, the batter was soggy and had an odd texture. The chips were also soggy. I have had chips here before and they were awfully soggy. Peasedown deserves better.

The chips are hit or miss this time they were disgusting won’t be back and the curry sauce watery and the pot is getting smaller and smaller. I’m sure Ken and mrs who were really friendly (present people not )wouldn’t want his name on the shop

Lovely take-away food. If only they would have the sense to ban the notorious Mr. Pratten [Herby] and his awful, disgusting so-called 'family'. This vile parasite [Herby] of Old England Way, Peasedown St. John, BA2 8TL served a ten year sentence for drug dealing. It feels so uncomfortable going in there when you know how awful this disgusting 'family' conduct themselves and how they constantly threaten others.

chips were really soggy, and so was the fish. chips were smothered in ranch dressing when i didnt ask for any???

We travel to Peasdown when we have fish and chips takeaway on a Friday lunch time, we live in Paulton and it’s still hot enough when I get home because it’s cooked fresh, the mini fish and chips meal we find is plenty for a lunch time meal and great value and the best quality we have found, we have found others to be more expensive and not as good, keep it up as your food is the best with in five miles of our home.

We had battered sausage, plain sausage, chips and curry sauce. It was all ok but the quality of everything is so much better at The Haynes in High Littleton. Cash only!

This is our children's place to get food from in their eyes it's THE place for fish and chips. Great freshly cooked food, tasty, hot and welcome!

(CASH ONLY) Went here for a takeaway for dinner. Good sized portions and fish was lovely and white (no black bits) and chips were your standard style chips, still really delicious. Just wish they stay open longer on some days…

This has to be the best Fish and Chip shop in this area, as regards prices and quality. The young couple who took over this shop, when the original owners retired a few years ago, are just as polite and pleasant and always make their customers feel appreciated, something you don’t always get these days.

Always good grub and plenty of it. Peasedown are very lucky to have Ken. Its well worth the drive 🚗

Picked up an order for my isolating In-laws, only two people in the shop at any one time, face mask compliant and really friendly. Order taken and take away prepared in a timely fashion and In-laws reported back that it tasted great.

Had cod and chips and curry sauce today. The cod has definitely shrunk a lot since Ken was there and for me they have put too much salt on the chips and not enough vinegar. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad...but it used to be great. As the portion has got smaller I’d probably go to Wetherspoons instead now and have a pint as well for about the same price...

I reviewed Ken’s back in July and as we’re visiting Peasedown again this week we picked up our dinner there again tonight. If anything it was better than last time - we all really enjoyed it. As before the Covid precautions were well thought out and and best of all being adhered to strictly which was reassuring. Wish this place was in our town, it’s excellent.

My wife and I are currently visiting my daughter in Peasedown and we all fancied fish and chips tonight. The chippy has apparently changed hands recently and the reviews weren’t exactly inspiring, nevertheless we decided to give it a go. We phoned the order through and it was taken very efficiently. On arrival it was ready and I was served quickly. The food was great, we all enjoyed it and couldn’t find anything to complain about. So why all the bad reviews - I really don’t know, it seems bizarre! One thing I really must congratulate them on is their brilliant response to the Coronavirus crisis. The entire serving area was properly screened off, all the staff were wearing masks and there was hand sanitiser for customer use. I felt safer there than a lot of places I’ve visited recently. They really had made an effort. We’ll certainly be back.

Came to this chip shop tonight and the chips were awful.Very dry and tasted like they had been warmed up from lunch time!. Now when we were served the staff and owners seemed friendly but when I called to inform them that I was disappointed with the food the reaction was very rude and abrupt and basically hung up before I'd even explained my complaint!.We wont be back that's for sure.

Always used Ken's fish bar when visiting my grandfather in Bath, this has been for at least 10 years now and the food and service has always been fantastic, they even stayed open late for us once when we were delayed travelling from Bristol. Keep up the great work!

Not knocking the staff old or new, very greasy food, take over has not been great , miss the good old fashioned english chip shops that are few and far between. Serves a purpose, just not for me, would rather nip down that chippy by radstock hotel.

I wanted cod and chips. There was one small piece of fish in the display cabinet. I mentioned that the fish was smaller than usual. The staff members there said the fish came in to them in various sizes. They looked at me as if I was weird! I said, so the fish varies in size but the price stays the same and they said yes! I don’t like being ripped off. So I left and they seem happy to see me go. So maybe I’ll be happy when their business closes and they go!!

New people have it now. But still very nice. And lovely young people.very nice very clean

New owners so will give them another chance but have a lot to learn. Chips cold and had salt on them even though asked for none as HATE salt. Fish too large -enough for 2 - but bit tasteless. Batter all crumbly on outside but soft and uncooked on inside!!! NOT AN ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE -sorry

The Chinese couple have been running this F&C bar for many years now and the consistency in their product and service has always been of the highest measure. Affable and good humoured, they are a mainstay on the fast food retail community in the village. Long may it last

I was visiting Peasedown St Johns seeing my grandmother where I decided to have some fish and chips from the local fish bar Ken’s. I’ve eaten from there before and never been disappointed and today was no different. I wasn’t that hungry so only brought 2 of their mini fish and chips deal and that was plenty for a lunchtime treat. Highly recommend if ur in the area 🙂

This is a small local fish and chip shop just off the A367 in the village of Peasedown St John, near Bath. The service is different from most others in that you place your order, pay and wait. This method often involves a short wait but it ensures that your food is always fresh. At peak times the shop can get crowded and there is no seating provided, except the window sill; however, this is a small price to pay for quality fish and chips. The batter on the fish is to die for!

Quality of the food fluctuates quite a bit between visits. Always pleasent staff and nice and clean. I would have given this establishment another star had they not attempted to deep fry a burger due to trying to close quickly. Also on the negative, very limited operating hours.

Stayed at the prince of Wales pub on a Monday so no food available so we bought fish cake and chips and battered sausage and chips very tasty very nice and ate in the car the locals have a nice chippie here

Siempre una amable sonrisa al entrar, y Diga adiós al salir, buena pasada de moda, con limpias recién preparado comida ya que lo pides. Merece la pena la corta espera. porciones pequeñas para niños y aquellos que no puedan manejar una parte normal. Según mi esposa, la salsa de curry es el mejor que ha tenido.

Kens fish bar is on the main road as you drive through the small village of Peasedown St John.Its a traditional Fish n Chip shop that also shocks burgers,pies etc.Its spotlessly clean and a great service.There is parking on street,at the front or behind the shop.The chips are cooked in a special kinda oil which you can certainly taste.
