Stumbled across this country pub one afternoon and it was great. The food looked delicious in passing but I didn't eat. Had a chat with a friendly chap called James who was working on the bar and a couple of the locals. Would have been great to try some hoppier and/or local keg beers but I guess I can't win them all! Will recommend and hope to pop back soon.

So pleased to find this real local. Ever since our nearby local closed we have been looking for another, but Gastro Pubs have really taken over. This is a friendly pub with a varied menu of straightforward pub classics very nicely cooked at very reasonable prices. We couldn't be happier and can't wait to return.

What a wonderful Christmas lunch at the Oxfordshire Yeoman for me and 20 of my yoga students. Lovely menu! Great portions and plenty of options. Fantastic roast potatoes and beautifully cooked veg! Also the vegetarian option of roasted celeriac was really tasty - one of the nicest veg roasts I’ve ever had! The food was served quickly and efficiently and most importantly all hot. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was well organised. Thank you for a lovely, enjoyable afternoon. 💖

Now this is my local and I’ve been eating here for years but I have to say the Sunday Roast last Sunday was amazing. They’ve relaunched their roasts and they’ve never been better. Very tasty and decent value. Mid-week, the kebabs are brilliant too as is the Lasagna. Always a decent pint and a laugh on offer. My family are very picky about where we eat and I can’t recommend the food here enough.

When the first thing you see is a sign that says “wanted - customers” it sets the scene. The interior was a bit grubby but we thought the food still might be good. We were wrong. Service was below average with my husbands pie arriving 5 minutes after his vegetables. My lasagne was unlike any lasagne ever - there was no lasagne sheets just bolognaise with cheese on top. The whole thing was swimming in grease and was just grim. We weren’t offered a child’s menu although clearly had a child with us. It was appalling in every aspect. No wonder you need customers - sort yourselves out!

Superb Sunday Lunch! A group of 12 of us went for Sunday lunch today. We are a family group of mixed ages from babies to pensioners. The food was so good and so much of it!! Proper cauliflower cheese and homemade Yorkshire pudding. The service was efficient and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We called in for drinks. The pub was pretty but we were quite shocked by the staffing. The place seems to be run by teenagers and we did not feel very comfortable by their behaviour. They were in and out behind the bar, playing their own music loudly and generally treating the place like a youth club. This is our second such experience here and we will not be returning any time soon. There was not one adult around! I feel as if the pub has really gone downhill. Such a shame.

Out for lunch with a friend as we continue to try out pubs in the county. There's plenty to chose from for lunch with a mixture of interesting typical pub grub lunches and specials on the board. All cooked freshly. My friend had the chips, peas and scampi. Nice chips - home made and nicely chunky. Peas and scampi good too. I had a special - pan fried red snapper with rice, tomato sauce, and salad. The snapper was very good - perfectly cooked, nice crisp skin and yet moist, the rice was fluffy, the tomato sauce was fresh and tasty, the salad well put together and certainly not straight from a packet. What a good plate of food for lunch. Neither of us could manage a pudding sadly, perhaps next time because we would be very happy to return here.

They had to cater for over 30 pensioners, a three course meal. A choice of 3or 4 starters all of which were pre ordered. I had the Prawn cocktail which was very nice. I also had the beef which was casserole and extremely tasty with fresh veg and proper roast potatoes. Dad had the turkey and he tucked in to this and really enjoyed it. Sweets were all very nice. I had the trifle, I don't think it was homemade but that was not a problem . It's been nearly a year since I've been here, and I went with a group. Simple lunch dishes were well done. People liked egg and chips, scampi, and the goat's cheese salad. My BLT was let down by leathery British bacon. What I've leraned in repeated visits is that simple and traditional dishes are generally fine, but demanding or complicated dishes are disappointing. My wife and I decided we would have another meal at this our local pub because we did not want to cook after a long flight back from the Dominican Republic. This is a rare event for us because we are not pub goers and if we eat out, it is normally at a restaurant on special occasions such as Christmas/New Year or on our Birthday. We have spoken to Trevor several times recently when we have passed by walking our friends dog and knew we would be well received. We both had an Irish Lasagne from the extensive menu that was washed down with the local beer and wine. New Landlord has introduced a good range of ales which get drunk very quickly so there is always something new to try, no bad ones yet.Food menu is small but home made, speciality house pies are particularly good as was the mash and well dressed salad.Good pub food at good prices an asset to villagers and visitors alike

Brilliant service from friendly staff, who delivered sumptuous food in front of a lovely open fire. A fantastic village pub to which I will definitely be returning.

This is just a situation report because this nice little village public house and eatery had closed for business.I live about 800 yards from it and I see it has a new independent landlord and is now open for business.I suggest anyone whom is in the area and wants to eat rings them first.

Stumbled upon this gem last night-on a random sat nav route- and well we found a gem. Valentine's night, 5 year old in tow and 2 very hungry adults-we needed feeding and wow what a find. An old pub with flagstone floors, run by a husband and wife team I think, there were a few people in already eating in this village pub...so we thought give it a try. Duck to die for, smoked haddock special, banana split divine and even though they weren't on the menu: a fab cheese plate. Lovely wines, good beer, friendly locals and little valentines decorations on the table....and reasonable priced too-main course about £8.95, desserts £3.95. Brilliant-go there now-we will be going back next time we are within 30 mins drive of it!!

Visited this pub after a recommendation on TA.Very nice location in the village of Freeland - a short drive from Witney.Good meals all round - particularly the steaks with lots of chips, salad, etc.Loved the puddings too.The couple who run the pub are friendly and welcoming.Very reasonable prices and no gastro-pub rubbish here!We will definitely be returning when we are next in the area.

The present landlord took over this small village public house in 2008. It is a small stone built building that has adequate indoor seating and a reasonably sized outside eating and drinking area with what I would call picnic barbecue type benches. It is adjacent to the village church and opposite the new village hall and large playing field. Since taking over, the pub has gone from strength to strength with the landlord and his wife providing very good meals at below local average prices. As well as Sunday lunches (best to book to avoid disappointment), he does special evenings such as a Fish and Chip nights and a Steak nights. There may be more variations on this theme. We have been there for a birthday meal and also with family and friends and we have never been disappointed. Always a great atmosphere, friendly welcome, great food and varied menu. The pizzas are amazing. We’ve been for Sunday roast before as it’s also incredible. Refreshing to enjoy a family run pub.

I think it must have changed hands since we last went as the food was not good , I had liver and bacon but I could have resold my shoes with it I think the chef needs a few cooking lessons it was definitely over cooked
