Yes this is an old pub and still looks like one but the tradition of hospitality continues now that it is a cafe open to the public. It is not just for Be Wiser staff. The Andover Social Cycle Club use this for our Wednesday post ride "cafe and kuchen" as the Germans would say. Or "carbo replen" was we say. You get a nice big coffee from trained baristas, lovely cake and the staff are very welcoming. It is very cheap and excellent value for money. They also do lunch specials for a very modest price.

The old Lamb pub. Now a very nice coffee shop. Although we only had coffees, there is a good selection of foods. The special of the day was lasagne and chips for a reasonable price of £3.15. Coffee had a great taste and cheaper than other outlets. The staff were very friendly. Good for wheelchair access.

From the outside this looks like a pub, and the handpumps on the counter re-inforce the first impressions. However this is basically a cafe serving food, with soft drinks only. Comfortable seating indoors and out. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Visited for a late lunch at 14:15 on a Wednesday. Welcomed and order promptly taken at the counter. Menu is fairly limited to cafe standards - all day breakfast, fish and chips with peas, sausage, beans and chips, but there was also a specials board offering Turkey, Ham and Leek pie with chips and peas plus gravy. I opted for the special and was served a good individual pie - not a slice as I had expected, with a large portion of chips and peas. Both accompaniments were fine, were not overcooked or soft or soggy at all. Those accompanying me (two American friends) had the aforementioned fish chips and peas ( standard piece of frozen fish) and the sausage chips and beans. Both were satisfied. These 3 dishes with a single tin of drink came to just under £15. Very good value I thought.. Not refined dining but perfectly decent food for a good price.

My daughter and I found this cafe by accident. Here are our thoughts. 1. too small to allow dogs indoors. 2. could do with a bit of a refresh. The chair pads were stained and there were grease stains up the wall by our table. 3. toilet was very clean but on the first floor which meant climbing some very steep steps. Not disabled friendly. However my daughter who is vegetarian had a really good choice of foods and thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The young staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The coffee was delicious as was my hummus platter with Greek salad. The prices were good and I would highly recommend but I think it could be even better with a bit of a refurb. Didn't get to see the garden as it was too hot to sit outside but from the photos it looks really nice.

Portway Inn, was the best place for breakfats for my family and I. we use to go each week. Todday we were turned away and was told they no longer accept outside customers only residents only. I have taken a picture of each of these. There terms and conditions, there website, their menu and when you walk towards the reception entrance from car park, no where does it say residents only can get breakfast. what a waste of time and fuel. I am so disappointed.

Failed to have a sign on the door that they are only catering for the hotel only. Waited half an hour with four children for them to open the door, had to ring them ourselves to find out what was happening and person on the phone didn’t sound apologetic at all.
