I messaged Owl & Pussycat and asked in regards to their room upstairs for private hire for a baby shower. They allow to bring your own food and if requested open the bar so your guests can order their drinks of their choice! We put a tab behind the bar. The lady came up and took orders, brung our drinks up to us and also the smoking area is great as don’t have to walk up and down them stairs all the time for the smokers! They have a flower wall for pictures and the mirrored effect for more picture opportunities. From the minute I messaged about the booking they were friendly, helpful and efficient. I would recommend them over and over again for baby shower, birthday hire whatever it may be. Nothing was too much trouble. I had the guests comment on how homely and nice it all looked even the overall appearance of upstairs. Makes such a huge difference when your guests make a comment too! Thank you again, really appreciate it!

Had an engagement party here. Met some lovely people here in a very nice setting. They operate table service and felt at times maybe they could have more than 2 staff serving as it got busier,the longer you had to wait for your drinks. Other than that loved it. Great DJ btw

By far the worst bar I have ever been to. Worst cocktails I have ever ordered and to top it off got told to button my shirt to the top because of hygiene reasons. We where sat at a sticky table and we walked in to the smell of sewage. Do not go here

These guys at this super cool place reaaly made my trip, my lil ’oliday with the kids! the pizza was proppa!! Propper ingredients, propper pizza! .. But the combination of big personalities on shift on thursday were/was? awesome!!!! I litterally feel like i had a party for 2 hrs, me, the kids and hillarious waiters and bar staff. Great banter, great attention to the kids, really great cocktails... They knocked me up a flaming lambourghini from memory..... Whaaaaat! Dope! This is the best place i have been in a loooong time, not since the old days lol!!!!!.... Big up yourselves and the wonderful delicious sun dried tomatoes on that authentic pizza!

New place to us so first impression was good lots of stairs so need to be fit

We had a very unfortunate experience at our staff Christmas do. The venue did not seem prepared to cater for a larger group. Meals were served at erratic times with some people being served when most of the group were finished. Meals were cold and vegetarian diners were given meat based food. The waiter did a fantastic job considering he was left to serve approx 30 people on his own and deal with their discontentment. The managers did not seem to find it important enough to come and talk to their dissatisfied customers. I won't be visiting again.

I really want to make this review constructive, and helpful to the staff at the O&P, because I do believe they try hard, and want to do a good job. However, I think they over-stretch themselves, and in my case, despite turning themselves inside out in so many ways on our behalf, they were wide of the mark when it came to the actual event we arranged with them. My daughter and I had been planning a very important birthday party for most of her life. Her 30th birthday, my 60th. We impressed on the venue how very important this was to us. We discussed in great detail the food we wanted for the evening, went over and over the menu selections with Nick, who came up with lots of great ideas for us, and we attended to all the other details ourselves, to ensure everything looked great on the night (it did! Nick decorated the venue for us, and it was lovely). Where we were disappointed - MASSIVELY - was the food. I paid a great deal of money for it. We didn't want a buffet, because we wanted people to be able to relax and just have food arrive on a regular basis. So we elected to have canapes brought up. Lots of them. I repeat I paid a GREAT DEAL of money for the food. However, on the night, we saw hardly any. I think I saw one of each item of food we had selected, but not everything on the menu was even cooked. For example, we had mini macaroni cheese on the menu we selected. They were never cooked or brought up. We had mini prawn cocktails. We never saw them. Our guests were hungry. Some of them even went and bought chips after the party. The following day, we went to collect presents and so forth, and were met by Nick, who had boxes and boxes of uncooked food for us. And a huge tub of prawns. This was food that couldn't be frozen, because it was defrosted. We had to take it all home and cook it and give it away. This was food intended FOR OUR GUESTS AT THE PARTY. I didn't pay for it so it could be given back to me uncooked the next day! Nick said that the guests 'kept sending the food back'. I think he misunderstood the point of canape food. People take one item. They expect that canape platter to return at some point so they can take another. But the platters came around once, then disappeared. People were saying to me they wanted another of such and such a thing, but it had gone. Back to the kitchen, presumably. Just because people don't take thing when it's offered doesn't mean it's 'being sent back'. It means 'not right now thank you, but please float back again later when I don't have a mouthful of something else or am in the middle of a conversation'. I did say to Nick that to do this platter canape thing, extra staff would be needed, because they need to KEEP CIRCULATING with the food! I only had one taste of each item myself, and that amounted to about 6 mouthfuls of tiny food items. For an evening that ran from 8pm through to gone 3 in the morning, that's ridiculous. When Nick presented us with the boxes of uncooked food, I was so appalled I couldn't even speak. I said nothing at the time (which I know is ridiculous, but I don't do conflict, and it was the day after the party and we were all knackered. I didn't really trust myself to stay calm). The party itself, to put things in perspective, was excellent. We put a lot of money over the bar - we had a minimum spend and had paid a deposit, which would be repaid if we reached the minimum. We more than smashed the minimum just on our own, let alone the amount our guests spent. But I had to badger and badger to get the deposit back. There was a problem with the bank, apparently, so I had to go in and collect it in cash. The staff were all lovely, but this kind of thing leaves a rather sour taste in the mouth. So I would say if you're planning a party, don't spend loads of money on the food, and make sure you get all of it ON THE NIGHT, not in boxes the next day to take home and deal with. And on another positive note, the food that we did have was absolutely delicious. No complaints there. But you don't want your guests going hungry at a party, do you?

Pathetic scene last night from security idjit. I recently had a fall so I cant walk well on my knee. I ordered a rum cola yesterday and I was expected to sit down and drink it. I briefly nodded off, security guy came over and asked me to leave, which in itself isnt a major issue. But he was really hetzing me about it even though I told him at some volume I was going (and I was well awake then by the way). As I was walking out he then started manhandling and pushing me...WELL OUT OF ORDER...its not like I was causing trouble..all i had done was NODDED OFF!!. There are steep stairs going out of that place, if I had fallen on my bad knee down those stairs I think that place would have had a serious lawsuit against it. If a woman had been handled that way they might have had other problems too. I expect an apology from management for that s###.

Arriving at 1am and having to wait until 1.35 for service! Absolutely ridiculous! Enquired at the bar and got told someone would be with us shortly! Yet still no service! Brilliant. Thank you.

Bit expensive, but lovely cocktails, great atmosphere and nice staff

I chose this restaurant as it was lively and the decoration quirky.The menu suited us all and there was a good selection of drinks. It was very busy and unfortunately the staff couldn’t cope.They were so friendly but rushed off their feet. It took a while to order drinks,then have them brought over(two pints and two soda waters!)We got the impression more expensive drinks would have come quicker. Eventually we ordered our food,I had the prawn kebabs that came with a side salad garnish and chips.I asked the waiter if I could have a full salad instead of the chips and was told no problem. When my meal eventually arrived,there were chips and just a few salad leaves.I said to the waitress I had requested salad not chips.Her reply was”well you’ve got salad,and it comes with the chips,just give them to someone else!” The result was my meal consisted of about 8 prawns ,some watercress and baby leaf salad. My husband had the lamb kebabs which smelled delicious but the lamb was tough. We had cocktails which we had to wait a while for,but as I said,it was busy.We asked for the dessert menu which was actually a waitress who told us the three desserts we could chose from,but never came back to take our order. When we left,the credit card payment machine wasn’t working.Luckily we had enough cash and escaped.I don’t know how the hen party managed to pay their bill.

Lovely food, wine and great service. It is such a shame it felt clinical. It's lost that cosy feel, the intimacy has gone. It's very bright with the lighting a bit like being in a spotlight. No window dressing made you feel very exposed.The people that own it are such a lovely couple.

I don't get it. Super pricey drinks. A live dj and no dance floor? Music's too loud to talk but the whole place is filed with seating so you can't dance either. I wasn't happy that everybody was hands on frisk searched on entry. All in all, not worth the £10 a drink price tag

Friendly staff, good food and big portions

We had out wedding reception here in 2015 and it was Beautiful! Then we just held our daughters 13th birthday party here two weeks ago and still amazing! Great venue, great with the kids, lovely helpful staff, amazing food and just all round perfect. cant wait to have our next party/event here! Thanks guys 😍

Despite living in Hastings and having walked past this establishment many many times ...it has taken me a while to finally eat at this restaurant. I have to say it was faultless from start to finish. There was 6 of us dining and all the meals came out at the same time and the staff could not be any more helpful than they were. My halloumi burger was absolutely delicious and i most certainly had food envy over my friends choices off the menu. The coctails were great and i think this place is spot on for value for money. Alot of food for the price you pay. I love the decor. The large dining tables give it a sense of Morocco. Highly recommend you to eat and drink here and if its a special occasion, which for me it was..i could not have been more fussed over! I was even granted a complimentary alcoholic beverage on arrival which you really don't get at most places now. A big big thankyou to the staff at The Owl and pussy cat. I will definitely be returning again very very soon

Came here for hen night. Great environment, though a bit cramped. Food was so tasty and well worth the price. Alcoholic drinks were a bit expensive and couldn't really taste the alcohol, but still refreshing nonetheless.

What can I say?! Burger was absolutely delicious. Proper 10oz steak burger with all the trimmings. Just go and try it! Friendly staff, good atmosphere. Will be back soon.

we went as a party of 5 and every meal was spot on cooked perfect .plus it has the added extra of the barman actually making a great cocktail which in hastings is rare .will def go back and back and back .all staff were friendly and chatted to us all. ok it was not busy as it was early sat evening but they made us feel very welcome

We had lunch on a rainy Tuesday at this Armenian restaurant which serves lots of East European and Russian specialities. We had two set menus (I had humus, peppers and pitta bread followed by chicken stroganoff and rice, then homemade apple and pear cake. My husband had a vegetable soup followed by fish and a cheesecake) beer, water, orange juice, lemonade, Russian coffee and tea for £40 which is good value for money as the food is delicious, the staff is friendly and efficient and the decor pretty and original. They also do a jazz night on Thursdays. Recommended.

For the lunch menu they have a fixed price of £6.95 for whatever you pick and to be fair it is very good value for money what you get. I went for Chinese belly pork which had a sticky and delicious sauce, the other half had a Cajun chicken breast which was chargrilled as promised.

We have been to the owl and pussycat for dinner and nights out before and have been made to feel very welcome. Unfortunately tonight turned out to be very different. As the establishment was full to capacity, my friends and other ladies were made to wait outside in the rain, this was absolutely fine, it could not be helped and the bouncer was very friendly and apologetic and couldn’t have been nicer but then a gentleman in double denim possibly a manager came out and was very rude to us when we were trying to make light of the situation by joking about being let in, He said we had a bad attitude and were not welcome. Such a shame as staff previously have been lovely but we will not be returning due to this gentleman’s attitude towards us. This caused bad feeling towards the establishment and upset as we are not trouble makers, far from it.

Fancied a cocktail on saturday night, so in we went.

Wow was pleasantly surprised by this almost hidden gem I stumbled across it on line and from the reviews I had read I wanted to give it a try and am very glad we did it was excellent the good was fantastic we ordered from the lunch menu where everything is £6.95 and trust me it's well worth that intact I would pay double for what we both had I had the Cajun chicken wrap with fries side salad and home made coleslaw it was all delicious only slight complaint the wrap was lacking in seasoning other than that my meal was delicious and the portions were massive unbelievable for the price my friend had the pulled pork wrap which was equally as delicious she also had fries and side salad and homemade coleslaw and her portion was just as big neither of us could finish as we was stuffed. The service was very very good I really can not find fault I will happily go back and eagerly recommend this place it's definitely well worth a visit you won't be disappointed there is plenty to choose from and looking at other customers meals it all looks very good I can't wait to go back :-)

Had so much fun there... the staff is amazing and have good food...

Very nice place, friendly staff but we had several issues. One of my friends is dairy intolerant, the staff were very helpful and there were several things she could have, however when her meal was brought out it had to be sent back as a dressing had been put on the salad! I ordered sweet potato chips but got normal chips. The food wasn't hot enough and we had to send all our tea cups back as they appeared to be dirty, After quite a long wait we got the same cups back a little cleaner but still stained. Finally my friend needed soya milk and a carton was brought to the table, a jug would have been nicer.

Our favourite place to eat in Hastings. Excellent menu with a varied specials board including fish options. Reasonable prices, especially the lunch menu £6.95 for a main with 2 sides and a drink.

They didn't seem to be able to cope with a party of 12 when it came to preparing and serving our food order.

What a fabulous place to visit whilst in hastings. The vibe of this place tops the charts and the cocktails are to die for. I've tried plenty of long island iced teas on my travels and now I know what a real long island tea cocktail tastes like. Thank you for enlighting my knowledge and taste on cocktails, things will never be the same again. Thank you again, what a great place and customer service speaks for itself A+.

Lovely staff decent food great atmosphere would recommend

not very impressed the waitress was lovely but unfortunately she was having to deal with the incompetence of the kitchen staff who got pretty much every order wrong and therefore the restaurant lost money because of this which is a shame

We visited here by searching reviews on trip advisor as we were holidaying in Hastings and wasn’t disappointed. We went on a Wednesday when you can get the fillet steak for £9.99 and it was fantastic. My sons had the burgers and we all enjoyed our food. I spilt a glass of my wine and they replenished free of charge and as it was my husbands birthday they also gave him a free jack Daniels and Coke. Would thoroughly recommend and go again if we are in the area.

This is just a glorified burger joint. Pretty disappointing after reading the other reviews. The chips were not nice at all. Didn't stop for dessert!

Good variety of food, very tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. This restaurant has a lovely, friendly atmosphere made all the better by Tam and all the staff. Visited many times and will certainly do so again. Highly recommended.

What a fabulous relaxed but busy place. We only had drinks but service was spot on. Fun, friendly, mix of ages, I would never have gone through the door if I hadn't been with a local... glad they took me in!

We have been here a couple of times now and absolutely love it here. The food is amazing and I’m never disappointed, the cocktails are to die for and don’t be afraid to ask for something if it’s not on the menu and the staff well 10/10 very attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. My daughter loves banoffee pie and sadly when we went they didn’t have any left so we decided to just have more cocktails instead of pudding the waiter asked why we weren’t having pudding my daughter explained, our waiter then said let me see what I can do .... he was gone for some time then on his return he had a banoffee pie for my daughter he had gone to another restaurant and got it from there for her

Celebrated a 50th birthday party here for 37 people and cannot fault the food and service we received. A great venue in a private room where you can play your own music and decorate. Food was of great value and they catered well for the large party Staff were very friendly attentive and could not do enough to help the party be a great success. Highly recommended!!

We were one of two couples out for a meal on a Saturday night. As we had never been to this restaurant before we thought we would give it a go.

The owl and pussycat has made my sisters hen party a huge success, the food was fab and all came out together and for a group of 20 this isn’t easy!!, the waiting staff were amazing, very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, management should be very proud they all went above and beyond to make my sisters night one to remember, would recommend this restaurant and their function room, if you are after a great atmosphere, great food & drink this is the place to go, a huge thanks to all the team xxx

We held my brothers 21st Birthday party here at the weekend.

As a last minute venue due another restaurant unable to cater for us we couldn't have chosen better.

Had an evening meal before an event nice lay out and seating areas are cosy. very slow service but friendly.

We came to visit on a Friday night and upon arriving had one of the warmest welcomes to any restaurant we've ever had. Our host for the evening could have been our best friend, he was so lovely and we'll remember his service more than the food. We ordered the breaded butterfly king prawns, flatbread and dips, steak burger and fish pie and we did enjoy our food very much, although we could still class it as high average and a tad unforgettable, but tasty nonetheless and with a comforting homemade feel (good portion sizes too!). We enjoyed a little sing song to the great movie soundtracks playing in the background. This helped to drown out the swearing from one group sat behind us. We could come back here as the service and atmosphere, lead to an enjoyable evening and we liked the privacy of the wooden booths.
