Sadly, for a family friendly pub that serves food, Sunday is a no go… a group of guys all sat at the bar that cannot speak to each other but feel the need to shout everything. This is not a pleasant experience for a family.

A very nice pub in Thorpe Marriot. A lovely situation. Close to several shops including Tesco Express. A great stop-off from Marriots Way. Indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. Extensive menu. Sky Sports on big screens. Pool table. Great on a summer's eve as has plenty of outdoor seating. Bar staff are lovely. Funky dart board. I think they have live music sometimes.

Great sport pub amazing atmosphere and staff ,beautiful building inside out and went on a Saturday and football was on still managed to get a table and the food was great

Will not be going back. Went in to watch football with my son in law and 14 year granddaughter. Went to the bar at 20:50 to order some drinks and food only to be told we would have to leave at 21:00 because my granddaughter was under 18. We had been in previously to watch other matches with no issues. We thought it was supposed to be a family friendly pub.

Lovely place, very nice staff. Great food with vegetarian options that are not QUORN which makes brilliant change!! Highly recommend

Had a roast here last weekend after deciding to give it another shot following a v disappointing one pre refurb. What a difference! I was really really impressed. The meat was cooked nicely pink and well seasoned, the vegetables were nicely flavoured and not mush that they can sometimes be after sitting on a hot plate for a while, the gravy wasn’t lumpy bisto granules, the roast potatoes were actually roast potatoes. Also had a nice crumble to finish it off. All in all I was really very pleasantly impressed and would 100% return. Chef was really charming too and had a genuine interest in how the food was.

We were greeted with a lovely warm smile from Annie the waitress/ bar person and the service was sublime from entering the venue, eating and then departing 😊 My wife and I were there with my 92 year old mother and all of our food choices were nicely presented and extremely well cooked. We will definitely be returning in the near future without any hesitation whatsoever. Many Thanks, Keith

My brother and I went for lunch on Saturday, it was quiet, it has a nice atmosphere, the bar lady was very friendly and took our order, we both decided to have the”award winning “ beef and ale pie with mash, broccoli and a side of gravy, unfortunately we were both disappointed with the pie, the pastry was good and filled with a tasty gravy, but was sorely lacking with 3 small pieces of beef, the mash had been kept warm on the plate for a while as it had become firm with a crust, the broccoli was nice, it was expensive for basically a pie filled with lots of tasty gravy

Really warm, nice atmosphere with some incredible food, the waitstaff are patient with kids and very understanding! 10/10

Great family friendly gastro pub, very well situated. My sister and I went to Taverham Garden Centre , and we were looking for somewhere nearby to have a nice meal, so popped in for a Guinness, and their "Award Winning" beef & ale pie, with buttery mash & broccoli. Unfortunately we couldn't find any beef in the pie, only gravy, and the mash was far from buttery, we actually needed to slice it with a knife. Otherwise good, prompt and friendly service.

Excellent food, great atmosphere, child friendly. Lovely garden, especially now it's getting warmer. Never had a bad experience here.

I had a mixed grill here (14.99) I've never experienced a meal that could be both burnt and undercooked at the same time. I've attached a pic of a steak cooked 'medium'. I was hoping this would be an improvement over it's previous life as 'The Otter' but from what I can tell, it's just a lick of paint and a dart board. I wouldn't say it was kid friendly, so the implied perception that this is somewhere to take your family would be inaccurate. I won't visit again.

Nice place recently done up. Typical ( but clean and tidy ) estate pub in nice area . We had the gammon as it came with egg and pineapple which was great. Prices very reasonable

Refurbishment was done nicely, friendly staff, good service. Drinks are quite expensive and the food is what you would expect. Good for a quick pint and something to eat if you're not too fussy

What a beautiful pub ! I've been this way before visiting friends over christmas but never visit the pub as it looked a little unloved, but what a beauty it is now. We all popped in for a quick bite to eat and a drink and I'm hopeful that next time we visit we can go back again. I had a Hot honey flatbread and my partner had the mixed grill, both were lovely. I was driving so stuck to the soft drinks but I did see that they done a good cocktail range.

Stumbled across this place after going to look at a car for sale in the local area. It looked really nice from the outside and The landlord was saying it’s been done up recently. I had a quick bite to eat ( prawn linguine ) which was nicer than I expected and a lovely pint of neck oil. Well worth a return trip next time I’m in the area.

Didn't bother to stay. Too noisy with lots of loud foul language. Of the few tables available, none were clean but wouldn't have eaten in that atmosphere anyway.

Always a pleasure, before and after the revamp. Very nice clean, and freshly painted. Staff really friendly and very experienced. We booked a table for 12 and all the food came out piping hot and all at the same time which we really wasn't excpecting. This is our now go to place when we have a family birthday, as nothing is too much trouble. Well done to Mark, Carole and their amazing team.

Had our Christmas meal here yesterday food was served on cold plates food was lukewarm yorkies were soggy very disappointed When our leader asked to order wine at the table was told to go to the bar We were the only occupied table in the pub Would not eat here again and definitely not recommend to anyone

Looks much fresher after the recent revamp. Food is nice and still reasonably priced. Still some interesting locals in and out of the toilets a lot when I've been. I had read in the paper that it was going to be more family orientated but doesn't really feel that way inside at least, still fruit machines every way you turn. Some board games wouldn't go a miss.

Positive bits first - external makeover looks good and lamb shank was really tasty. However, I tried to get a second round of drinks but was ignored as I didn’t have a big enough mouth so walked out and went somewhere else where staff could be bothered. Revamp all you like Greene King but if you want loud mouth thugs who can’t put a sentence together without effing and jeffing then why bother?

The food is awesome i hate burgers but i ate one and was the vest food ive had in ages awesome landlady and lndlord friendly people just A++++ thankyou for a lovely evening

Really like this pub, nice staff friendly pub and lots to do pool, sports TV, poker. Nice car park outside with a fish a chip shop too. I go regularly.

We go to the Otter on a weekly basis; and have done so for quite a few years since living here for 25 years. It has had its problems in the past. I must say Mark and Carol have turned it around, the staff are very friendly, the food is good, lots of atmosphere with friendly regulars.

There was 14 of us ordering Sunday lunch and off the menu the staff were great helped us it was hot and lovely well done all will be back again

Nice, cheap and cheerful place for lunch. Staff were helpful and polite. Few bits missing from the menu which would have ordered but the food we had was lovely for the price.

We celebrate Christmas Eve with family and friends every year and decided this year, as we have started visiting weekly again, to go to our local, The Otter. Over the years landlords have come and gone but Mark and his team are great. Very accommodating with all our needs and nothing was too much trouble for them. They moved tables to cater for our party of twelve and several times came to check to make sure everything was okay. The pub once again has that local, family feel and we very much look forward to our next visit.

What a great pub, we were visiting friends who took us to this pub. The food and service was great 😊. The manager was very friendly and a great entertainer!! Confused with car parking notices but otherwise a very pleasant experience.

What an absolute gem of a find! We were prepared to have paid over double what we paid here at our hotel but after being charged ‘linen surpluses’ of £45 by a manager/chef we decided not to have our food spat in and try this dog friendly place. Great excellent value food selections. I thought my wine glass was brand new as when we eat out there are nearly always water marks on the glass and this was spotless. A meal for four people with four drinks for £30 and great friendly service…. Limited places you can get that these days!

Traditional pub grub. Fast service, friendly locals and staff were fantastic - if I was in the area I'd be poaching them (staff not locals!). Lovely George Ezra quote as wall art with nod to canaries.

Stopped off as the ratings were quite good and there was a gluten free menu. On ordering the lady behind the till couldn’t answer many of our questions and didn’t even attempt to find out (some of these questions were relating to gluten allergy). The food took about 45 minutes to arrive - on enquiring how much longer as we had two young children who were getting very restless, we were told that the food was done but that they had to do a drink order first. When it finally arrived you could tell it had been left under the lights for a while. One of the children’s fish fingers was so badly cooked it was a dark brown piece of crisp - inedible to anyone let alone a young child. Overall the quality of the food was poor, frozen and processed ingredients that couldn’t even be cooked well. Do not recommend, we won’t be back.

After waiting 50 minutes, several of us received the wrong food/parts missing. It was also such bad quality, over cooked oven food from frozen. Tasteless and dry. Fishfingers were dry and burnt, the chef couldn’t even follow the instructions on the packet… Bad, grumpy service too. Coleslaw was watery. Will never be going back.

We popped in for dinner after a long day out. There was something on the menu for everyone (even our two very fussy children!). The bar staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and even provided some much needed water and treat for our dog. The food was good and the locals were all quite friendly if a little colourful with their language around our children. However being a Friday evening and they had had a few we could overlook that and enjoyed a pleasant evening.

We visit this pub regularly purely because it’s local but I wouldn’t recommend it. Landlady is rude and always miserable. You are never met with a smile or felt welcomed. Tonight we ordered food for the first time and never again. We had a chicken wrap and chips. 5 chips and about four pieces of extremely fatty chicken. The flour warp itself was nice but left very disappointed. Will certainly NOT be eating in there again!! The young staff that work behind the bar work flat out and are lovely but seem to not be treated well by management.

With music/Karaoke/DJ Disco's etc going on in here attracting the attention is what this pub needs again. Last weekend the music was pumping out thanks to the new landlord for allowing this which, showed what a really good night you can have in here... It was our first time in The Otter yesterday where we had a lovely 3 course lunch! It's a nice pub with really delicious hot food, good prices and exceptional service from Jeremy. Thank you! We will definitely be back. 😊 UPDATE.... We lunched here at The Otter again today and really enjoyed it! The food was perfect. Plentiful, hot and delicious! 😋 Served by Jeremy again who has the biggest smile and very attentive! Will be back again the last Thursday in each month. Thank you guys!

New management team have really turned this place around. Food is lovely. Beer well kept. Atmosphere superb.

Not a bad word to say. The bar team were efficient and very helpful whilst taking our order for food and drinks. The food came out in good time, piping hot! Absolutely delicious. Due to the hot weather today, the air-con was appreciated. Great value for money. Ordered more drinks, the bar team (Mark/Murphy) were super friendly and on hand to answer any questions we had. All in all a fab experience, will definitely be returning and 100% would recommend.

Attended the otter pub for dinner and to watch football on a Wednesday night. We asked if the Liv v West Ham game would be played. Initial bar man said he didn’t know. Asked if he could ask the manager. Deputy manager - eventually offered the pool area - which is freezing. Asking why not any of the other 4 T.V’s ? He said he was putting the Man City game on. There were 5 customers in the pub at this time. Ridiculous. Haven’t been in for years, since James was the manager and OMG won’t be going in again.
