The Original Smokehouse in Hammersmith and Fulham

We visited yesterday with our two girls (15 &10) not a great experience and definitely won’t be back. It was very cold inside - my daughter ate her lunch in her coat as she was so cold, bacon burger was good and the sweet potato fries were too, prawn tacos were nice but we warned of you have any allergies as not all ingredients are listed on the menu. Luckily my daughter likes feta but it wasn’t mentioned at all! £16 for a salad with a bit of chicken and 6 tough prawns was a bit steep but the worst aspect of this place is the service! Painfully slow.....adding a service charge was a joke considering how slow it was and for people with children be warned, they will bring out a children’s menu as an after thought and it’s literally 4/5 things written down on a scrap of paper as an after thought! For the prices charged and where it is they really need to try harder!

Nice and welcoming, relaxed casual dining environment. The problem started when I recieved my "12 hour BBQ Brisket with pepper berry rub" The BBQ Brisket was bland and had a rubbery texture making it a challenge to cut and chew (I would expect it fall apart in my hands after 12 hours of cooking). Brisket is usually an instant go to for me because it's usually tender and flavourful, I was looking forward to this one especially, given the title. I called for assistance, a lady said she'll get the manager, the person that came over was the same friendly man that greeted us only this time he had a bad attitude as if I had personally insulted him. I said the brisket wasn't what I expected, he challenged me so I explained why I was unhappy with what I had recieved, he said he will need to check with the manager as it's 50/50 (I thought he was the manager). He came back, friendly again, and asked what I would like as an alternative. He also noted that usually they don't switch meals because, "we know our food is good, but we've had another complaint about the brisket so something must be wrong today." I guess it was my lucky day 🙃 I ordered a burger, which came with fries, I said I only need the burger as I was happy with the fries I had. He said he'll take the whole plate and get me a new meal. 30 mins later, still no food so I cancelled as we had another appointment to attend. I'm not sure why it took 30 mins to make a simple burger and fries considering there were a lot of empty seats in the restaurant. I finally met the manager who came over to give an insincere apology. The same man that handled the situation then came over with the bill and also apologised with a chuckle and said it's quite embarrassing, I'm not convinced it was a chuckle of embarrassment to be honest. Good customer service from start to finish is key in hospitality, all they had to do was replace my meal as soon as possible, it seems they've forgotten the customer is always right. This could easily have been a good review, instead they've ended up with two wasted meals, which cost them to make, no payment and a bad review.

Very unfair reviews. Thought the service was very good and food really nice. Prawn Tacos were excellent and so were sweet potato fries.

Ate here recently. Totally unfair reviews, expected from the surrounding clientele. Everything good regarding this restuarant. Good quality, quantity and value in a surrounding environment of over priced intake. No faults. (Proper review from experienced world diners).

Where to start arrived to people complaining to staff. Restaurant was freezing cold very poor layout with doors left open to adjacent venue which allows a freezing chill to blow through on regular occasions. Many visitors appeared to complain about this. Had a sharer platter, meat was ok but including just 2 wings proved pretty slim pickings. The pulled pork was ok but lacked any sauce. Beef rib was ok but had very little meat. Corn was the best bit but was circa 2cms in width only. Was charged for 2 peri peri sauces and only ordered 1. 12.5% service charge added, wasnt asked if we wanted any other drinks despite glasses being empty or whether the food was any good or of we were ok. £50+ without starters and just one beer and wine was steep for what was pretty poor bbq food and not very good service. A long way short of other bbq restaurants in London. Major improvement needed to both venue and experience. Won't be returning!

I went in out of desperation i couldn't find the restaurant i was looking for. having heavy shopping I literally couldn't manage anywhere else. £20 for ribs which were the worse ribs I have ever eaten. They were tough, dry with hardly any meat on them. Don't waste your money going here.

Staff are lovely and attentive, unfortunately the food falls below par, everything tastes the same or doesn't have any taste at all, which if I and my friends were all suffering from a cold and lost our sense of taste, would be fine but we hadn't. We could all agree that from the wings to the ribs including the burger, so basically all the meat, tasted of an artificial smoked taste. And what the battered squid was that?! Little strings of rubber in an endless mass of crumbs? Great ambiance but for a Saturday evening, very quiet. With the amount of competition surrounding this restaurant they really are going to have to rethink the quality and prices which are almost the same as their neighbour, Meat Co, but not on the same level so how they hope to survive I don't know. I hope they change it all up. Good luck!

Arranged to meet family here for a pre-chistmas get together and meal. The staff couldn't get and deliver the drinks order correctly, we had to collect our own beers from the bar after they had been ignored by the staff for 10 mins. This should have given us a warning about what was to come, firstly the signature dish of Smoked beef brisket was off. Even though the waiter wrote down our order ( 10 persons) one starter and one main was completely forgotten. All the food inc. starters arrived at the same time because that's what the waiter thought !!!! ( apart from the forgotten dishes ) the smokehouse platter for £50 was terrible and only semi edible, and should have contained extra meat because of the lack of beef briskett. No staff checked or asked how our meal was, or came back to take further drinks orders which we had to organise amongst ourselves. And when the bill came after explaining about the very poor service so far, and missing starter and main course, the staff still added a service charge of 12.5%. If the restaurant had been very busy then i could understand some of the poor / slow service, but it wasn't. I very much doubt if I will ever visit this premises again.

The food here is quite nice but after we had finished eating I spotted something on the floor. On closer inspection it was a mouse just sitting in the middle of the floor next to our table. Staff were alerted and wouldn’t go near or remove it. Finally they got hold of the manager who also initially wouldn’t go near it nor did he even acknowledge us or apologise. We eventually called him over and told him he was being rude and to remove it. He went and got a dust pan and brush and swept it up. It managed to jump out of the pan and run it down a hole in the floor. At first refused to give us a refund telling us we can get a cheap meal at the restaurant next door which is the Meat Co. we explained that we would never eat here again and would prefer a full refund, eventually he gave us the refund and left. We felt sick and was appalled by our treatment. Only positive is that the young waiter we had was extremely polite and a lovely young man so we still gave him a tip as he was the only one who genuinely seemed to care!

Popped in after a days shopping. The service is extremely slow and not welcoming. The food was good and tasty. But slow to come out.. We had to ask for drinks 3 times before we got them. It wasn't even busy so I don't understand why everything took so long The seating is uncomfortable and gave me a backache. The foot itself was basic in my view. Highlight being the mac n cheese. I would not recommend going here and from the slow paced service i can see why it was half empty
