The Oriental Chinese in South Lanarkshire

The worst Special Fried Rice i've ever had. Dry Egg Fried Rice with some meat thrown in and one prawn. No gravy in it. I wasn't asked if I wanted any. Tasted very bland. Meat was dry too.

I got a Chicken Satay ( on the skewer) main course with boiled rice. It was practically inedible , the skewers consisted of , what can only be described as , pieces of hard rubber. Didn't resemble chicken in any way . The onions with the meal were brick hard and the sauce was a heart attack waiting to happen ( must have had a full tub of salt in it!) I will not be returning !

Not the best carry out been in EK for 4 years and yet to find a decent chinese take away tried here tonight after reading the reviews but just not to my taste

The food here is some of the best I've ever had in terms of Chinese takeaways. The woman who takes the orders is one of the most helpful, friendliest people there is. Cannot say enough nice words about her. The staff are honestly the best part of the place. The delivery is always on time and the guy who delivers it is fantastic too. Overall, it's the one of the best places in East Kilbride. Cannot recommend enough.

Special chow mein is to die for

I have lived in East Kilbride for 34 years and lost count of the times I have ordered food from The Oriental. In the past the quality was always consistent and reasonably priced. Im not quite sure what has happened lately but the food quality has fell over a cliff edge. The last order I had from The Oriental went straight in the bin as every dish tasted like chemicals. AVOID !

Food crap total rubbish try to overcharge all the time theifs never go ther will con you if you don't check prices

The food here is fantastic and always tastes great. The staff are amazing. The woman who handles the orders/phone calls is one of the friendliest people in customer service. Honestly the best Chinese restaurant in East Kilbride. If you're going to order from anywhere, order from here.

Delivery is always quick to arrive. There’s always a good amount to fill you up for hours. When I don’t order my usual chips, curry sauce and fried rice. I order salt n’ pepper chicken and recently the chicken pieces have been small and edible. Better than previously when they use to be big and chewy. Just recently for the first time I tried the Chicken noodle soup as I was poorly and it hit the spot.

Great fast friendly helpful service, quick waiting time, error checking read back orders then again from the sealed bag. Amazing tasting curry sauce and the overall quality of all the food I have ever ordered has been tremendous. Your order gets well packaged in a variety of containers and for big family orders like ours into an easy to carry larger cardboard box.

Salt and chilli chicken is horrendous, is very similar to pakora and is chewy. Phoned to place an order, I was told to “wait a minute” then they placed the phone down and was left unanswered for 12 minutes then they hung up without taking my order. When questioned why there was a wait, I was told they forgot the phone was on.

Always an excellent service with a smile, with food cooked to perfection as always. Very accommodating in current circumstances. Best Chinese in east Kilbride by far

The food is good. However, the sauce on the bbq ribs was different from the usual one purchased which was disappointing. Quick service too. Might want to get the main door fixed before it causes an accident.

Fabulous tasting food great menu great portions fantastic price and best of all the staff are amazing so dont waist any time pick up your phone and get dialling or pop in and place your order for some of the best Chinese food out there. In my opinion the best food in and around this place and management are also superbly fantastic to customers and staff. This is the best Chinese food out there in my opinion the best service out there in my opinion and also a great selection of different types of food stuff for all the family from the kids to all adults. Great quality always and a really good service friendly environment and I will say very tasty food and a very clean establishment. Go get some food you will enjoy it so much..

I came across The Oriental East Facebook page whilst browsing online. I noticed it's now called The New Oriental & it's now specialising in Thai, Malaysian & European food. The Oriental of old was just a Chinese carry out, so I am unsure if The New Oriental is under new ownership. I decided since I hadn't reviewed The Oriental since March 23rd 2017 where upon it scored an awful 1*, that I'd try it again & see if things had improved. I ordered my usual, breast of chicken curry, fried rice, chips, prawn crackers & an extra tub of curry sauce. My order came to £13.10. I got my meal home & plated up. Firstly I can say the meal was still piping hot & extremely fresh. The New Oriental's breast of chicken curry was on the whole very succulent & tender this time, unlike the last time on March 23rd 2017 when the breast of chicken was tough & borderline rock solid. The curry sauce had a nice spice to it, not too mild but it has a lovely flavour & overall I enjoyed it. The fried rice was extremely fresh & tasted delicious. Chips were lovely & crisp, were about as good a portion of chips from a Chinese takeaway as you are likely to get. Overall a vast improvement upon my last visit. The star of the show this time undoubtedly was the breast of chicken curry. Soft, succulent & plenty of it. I'm happy to now recommend The New Oriental based upon my most recent order. Night & day compared to my previous review. Not sure if it's under new ownership or whatever, but I have to say to the staff of The New Oriental, what an improvement over The Oriental of old. Keep the quality of the food that high & I may very well become a regular customer. An extremely respectable 4* from me.

Had a few take away meals and in the main they have been very tasty 😋. Not sure if two different chefs as meals sometimes vary, but always tasty. Quick delivery times

We got s takeaway here while on holiday in glasgow. I ordered a chicken dish while my partner had beef. The portions were huge and we were full after it. Yum yum

I have ordered the same dish for 2 years,not any more,my special chow mien was delivered quickly,still hot and guy really nice,tuck in,had to chew n nearly choked on beef,2 king prawns and 2 small junks of chicken,crispy noodles were spaghetti,was left wth soup n 5 bits of uneatable chunks of half cooked beef.phoned to complain and all I got was the same excuse”awe sorry but it’s a new chef”not good enough.dont recommended to anyone.😡

Usando oriental durante unos cuantos años, nos gusta que me encanta la comida vegetariana chow mein siempre conseguir porciones enormes y una buena relación calidad-precio, llega bastante rápidamente y fresca y caliente. no entiendo algunos de los comentarios negativos que siempre están contentos con la comida.

Muy decepcionante, por lo general, conseguiría un take away de Jimmy wan en East Kilbride pero estaba cerrado esta noche, así que usamos las reseñas de google para elegir esta, nunca más.Pedimos pechuga de pollo, arroz frito, patatas fritas y salsa de curry, los fideos eran delgados y sabían añejos con un toque de salsa muy seco, arroz seco también muy seco, todo lo que puedo decir es que haces su dinero fácilmente y sin esfuerzo o cuidado, buena suerte con eso.

Decidimos probar el Oriental para fines de revisión en Murray Plaza Restaurante Chino de East Kilbride.Es sólo la segunda vez que he pedido desde el Oriental como mi primera orden hace unos meses no era la mejor.Pero. . . . Todos pueden tener una mala noche?Así que en el restaurante que vaya. Lo primero que notas es la gran shouty manuscrita letrero que dice "cerrar la puerta! ! "La razón por la que usted puede pedir? Porque el frente de la zona de espera/restaurante es insoportablemente frío porque los propietarios del Oriental no poner un poco de calefacción. Que pena que el personal de mostrador, ellos piensan que están trabajando en Islandia.Pedí mi habitual, una pechuga de pollo al curry (picadas), arroz frito, pan de gambas y salsa de curry que un gran vino a un precio razonable de £11. 85.El arroz frito, salsa de curry y gambas galletas saladas eran como los restaurantes chinos de los años 80. Eso no es negativo, porque todos eran excelentes.La decepción para el Oriental para mí era el mismo que mi primera orden hace muchos meses. Ese es su pechuga de pollo al curry es terrible. Un montón de pollo que lucha duro de masticar, casi rozando la roca sólida.Es un shsme porque si podían aprender a cocinar el pollo correctamente, así que es un poco más suave, este restaurante sería muy bueno. Como es, que es dos veces el pollo ha sido incomible y es la parte más cara de la comida.No será tratar de nuevo. Hay restaurantes chinos mucho mejor en East Kilbride a dar tu ganado duramente. Mi top 3 Marlboro, Cafetería La Plaza Tours (Calderwood) y Fusión Asiática en East Kilbride Village. Cualquiera de los tres puede hacer una genial curry, algo que La Oriental no parece capaz.Mierda de pollo y congelar mientras espera su comida. Si esa es tu idea de un buen restaurante chino, te encantará la oriental.

Ive been going here for more years than i care to remember. The portion sizes and quality have never changed. Probably the best Chinese take way in East Kilbride in my opinion.

Up for work as I live in Kent and what a great Chinese takeaway food was absolutely delicious nice and hot I love a Chinese and would highly recommend

Everything was just average. Nothing more nothing less. Not the best, everything was very old fashioned, don't have high expectations when you go in and you might enjoy it.

tables are quite private and able to sit and talk meal is well worth the money and is delicious go there quite often curry chips and rice and chicken balls and chips are great

not the best not even in the top 10 in EK, It is ok and that is about it wouldn't use it unless it was the only place open however they also close earlier than most Chinese in town as well

the curry is dreadful all you taste is salt same as the satay awful food and the chicken fried rice is microwaved absouletly vile wouldn't eat out of here even for free and the cook and staff are very rude and ignorant too always seem to find a hair in my rice also awful place
