The Oriental in Crawley

This was first visit as our usual Chinese takeaway was closed which turned out to be a blessing in disguise & lucky for us. I went online to quickly find a good Chinese takeaway nearby and saw great reviews for the Oriental. I went there to order our food and there were several people waiting on orders & the lady at the till took 2 telephone orders before mine while I was looking at the menu. I suspected it would be a long wait for our food but to my surprise it was ready within 10 minutes. The food tasted delicious and is one of the best Chinese food we have had in a very long time. Everything was fresh, hot & yummy with good portion sizes. We will definitely be ordering from here from now on and I can only highly recommend everyone to try it!

The best Chinese around, we can’t ever go to a restaurant now as this takeaway knocks spots off any local restaurant! The staff are always so friendly, delivered on time and sometimes earlier than the approximate time!

Our Chinese was lovely tonight as always. Food all nice and fresh. They were trying a new system tonight and our delivery was spot on as I have a timeframe...sometimes it's a bit later but tonight was perfect. Keep up the good work.

The Oriental has been consistently good for years. We use it regularly and are never disappointed. Last night we put in a significant order as we had family over. The app is easy to use and the food was delivered within an hour, all piping hot and wonderfully cooked. If you like Chinese food, use The Oriental. You won't be disappointed. Top tip is the kung po chicken. Delicious!! Thank you The Oriental for helping my birthday celebrations end on a high.

Just had a take away delivered to my house, arrived 30 minutes early. Excellent quality food as usual highly recommended.

I loved the experience. Food was delicious and had best service. Heavy rain night so decides to order delivery . So they informed it would be bit longer wait time as the flood road before we ordered. And when our order was bit late then estimated time they rang to gave the updated. Food arrived soon later were still hot and so tasty. Definitely worthy to wait.

Ordered at 6pm with a 90 min delivery time. Delivery well over 2.5 hours and maybe more as still waiting for it - is a joke and not worth the effort

Fantastic food (again) from The Oriental. I work for an airline and quite often get a takeaway for the office on a night shift. There are never any complaints about the quality and quantity of food. Price is also excellent. Staff friendly. Thanks to you all! Paul

The food from here is absolutely delicious. Nice size portions and delivered hot. There is a large selection to choose from on the menu and their website is very easy to use.

This was our first time ordering from the oriental. We really fancied a Chinese and our local one was closed, we decided to order from the Oriental and so glad we chose them. We went straight there, placed our order and brought it right back home to enjoy. The food order didn't take ages, was fresh, piping hot and absolutely delicious. My veg And mushroom stir-fry with oyster sauce was absolutely tasty. I really couldn't fault the food we received and enjoyed. Will most definitely return soon to try some other dishes.

Absolutely blown away by how delicious my takeaway was. I actually only came to The Oriental as my usual takeaway was shut and I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was honestly absolutely amazing. Turned up at exactly the time they predicted it would, delivery driver was so lovely and the food was piping hot and everything was incredibly tasty. Definitely my new Chinese takeaway.

Ordered a take away (to be delivered) last night at 6.10 on. Website said there was a 120 minute wait time. I thought this was a long wait, but fair enough, at least they were managing my expectations. After just over 2 hours I rang to see where our food was. Was told it was being cooked at the and that it would be with us shortly. After another half an hour wait I rang again to see where food was. Was told it was currently being cooked (again!). They apologised, said it was very busy and that someone would ring me the next day to apologise again and talk through the problem with my order (to date I’m still waiting for the call, but to be fair the day isn’t over). I explained that i had been waiting for 2 and 45 minutes and said they shouldn’t have taken my order if they couldn’t fulfil it within a reasonable time. Food turned up 10 minutes later (Just under 3 hours from time of order). Food tasted quite nice but was warm (plated up and microwaved it). As such I suspect it had actually been cooked long before my second call and was waiting around to be delivered. I’ll never use this takeaway again.

Located at pound hill shops. Worth Rd crawley. Brilliant The food is outstanding. The food bursts with flavor and if u ask to have a ingredient removed like bean spouts in our case it's no problem at all. Special noodles are just wow so much and the taste is just amazing . The staff Friendly welcoming and funny . Very excellent customer service. I would 100 percent recommend this place x

Ordered on 20.12.22 from the new menu. Prices are very reasonable considering the last time they went up. Food was great and portion sizes have increased making it even better value. Thank you Lucy and your crew for doing what you do best.

Just had a delivery , I was phoned to let me no.it was on its way.. turned up on time and it was amazing...nothing left !!! 10 out of 10..stuffed now a need a snooze.

The oriental is a Chinese takeaway. We moved to the area in the summer and we’ve had several takeaways from them. The food is consistently wonderful, very tasty and large portions. My particular favourites are the Oriental Special rice, large prawns and chunks of chicken and pork and lots of al denté veg; sweetcorn, mange tout and water chestnuts. The chicken with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce is delicious. The delivery is always before the estimated time and it arrives piping hot. Thoroughly recommend

During a visit to my parents, we ordered a really nice take away. I hadn’t eaten from here in years and didn’t remember it being my favourite local Chinese takeaway, but things have clearly improved. The food was good quality and didn’t leave you feeling greasy or bloated. Definitely my new favourite in Crawley.

Very good Chinese takeaway. One of the best I’ve ever had. Most of the menu can be done gluten free and is naturally dairy free.

We have recently moved into the area and chose The Oriental following a number of recommendations. Very pleased with our choice. Meals have been consistently of good quality. Friday and Saturday evenings are particularly busy, so be prepared.

My partner and I were recommended to try The Oriental by a friend of ours and we regretted it. The noodles were really dry and bland and the crispy shredded beef was rock hard and seemed as though it had been made a few hours ago. The only enjoyable part for me was my chicken curry with egg fried rice. My partner also felt his dishes were bland and lacked flavour, he ordered the Kung Po Chicken. For the price you pay for the Chinese overall it definitely isn’t worth the money in my opinion and we will go back to using our favourite China Garden in Maidenbower which is worth the money you pay and does not disappoint ever. We will not be trying The Oriental again.

20 minutes after my food was supposed to be delivered I get a phone call from the Orient that I ordered my Chinese food from The woman says I’m sorry we forgot about you but we are cooking the food and it will be delivered shortly. I said it’s not nice to be forgotten at all I can’t believe anybody would forget an order especially when the total was so expensive. I had heard lots of good things about this place And that is why I gave it a try. The delivery got here finally 50 minutes late. I let the delivery driver know that I was not happy and that they need to know that I wasn’t happy and I probably won’t be back.. he told me it was all good like he didn’t care if we ordered again or not. The food at Best is average to me. I am mediately felt however unappreciated for my order

We have been using the Oriental for a couple of years and we would not go anywhere else. The food is exceptional and also the service. The staff are extremely polite and will do anything to help their customers. Thank you for everything you did during lockdown, you guys went above and beyond for all of your customers.

Another fantastic takeaway from the Oriental. Chicken balls are the best along with Special curry and Singapore rice!

We have used this popular takeaway for a fair few years and decided to lighten the winter gloom with a takeaway last week. We used the app to order for collection as this option was quicker than waiting for delivery. A negative for the app is that you are unable to order unless the takeaway is open which means waiting for 17:00 to ensure that you can get the slot you want.We ordered a selection of starters and main courses and some special fried rice and vegetable noodles. A portion of prawn crackers is complementary if the order is over £20. We ordered for 6:00 pm collection and when we arrived our order was complete and ready for collection making this a very easy and hassle free.The portions were generous and piping hot. The lemon chicken, prawn and cashews and chicken with mushrooms were excellent. The chicken in all the dishes was moist and well cooked and the prawns were done to perfection. The shredded chilli beef had become a bit chewy as a result of sitting in its cardboard container and was rather disappointing. Noodles and rice were again excellent.The total bill was just over £40 which we felt was extremely good value for the quality and quantity offered. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will certainly use again when an Oriental feast tops the daily household menu

Absolutely brilliant! It may be a few months since we last had a Chinese meal (blame Covid), but Rob & his restaurant have excelled themselves! Ordered on the app, for delivery (first time we've done that). Meal arrived promptly, piping hot - hotter than we can manage when we collect - and just SO good!Thank you, guys! We usually have a curry on Saturday night but decided to try this Chinese takeaway, and so glad we did the food was fantastic!!! I did the order online and was told 45 mins till collection. We got to the shop and there were so many people waiting, there was a big order in front so there was a bit of a delay but the the wait was definitely worth while. The staff were amazing and coping very well with the pressure they were under. Definitely recommend.

The food is of a higher quality, with better flavours than many others I’ve tried. If we’re going to treat ourselves, then it’s got to be good. Service, food and delivery are all exactly what I hope for when I decide to order dinner.

This place does the best food in good portion sizes. I use the app to order for delivery which is really easy to use. The food is delivered hot and within time specified. Did I mention that it’s so tasty.

We moved to Poundhill in 2015 and the first meal we had in our new home was Chinese from oriental. I cannot recommend this place enough! The service and food quality is second to none. Lucy is very friendly. I would happily eat their food 7 nights a week if my bank could handle it! I was so glad to find out that you were open still. I had failed to get through the previous week and then I discovered your app. This was our first Chinese takeaway in about five weeks and we had really missed chinese (and any non homemade!!) food. Your wantons are the best thing although all the other food was wonderful as well. Can’t wait for the next one. (It won’t be in five weeks time that’s for sure).

Well what can I say , I was quite apprehensive about getting a takeaway tonight, because of the lockdown, but what Organization , I felt so safe the way the collection is done, the food is always excellent but the whole experience tonight was a different class

Difficult and challenging times for everyone at the moment. My son’s birthday today and we wanted to try to do something special, so ordered a take away to be delivered by The Oriental. We were really glad that we did as every dish we ordered was absolutely superb. We had crispy duck, bbq spare ribs, crispy chilli beef, Szechuan chicken, chicken with mushroom, sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style, roast pork noodles and egg fried rice. Delivered on time and all truly delicious.Highly recommend The Oriental. If you fancy Chinese, use this place. You will not be disappointed!!

I cannot fault this restaurant at all, the moment you walk in you are made to feel welcome. Food is second to none and at a fair price. Home delivery is always on time. Will only go here to get my Chinese.

I’ve been using these guys since 1999 and grew up in Hong Kong, it’s the best Chinese food in the area by far.

Visited on 3rd March , great food bursting with flavour recommend 100%. Noodles to die for and chicken balls are just yum!

10/10 - 100% recommend! Best Chinese in Crawley, cannot fault it. Service can sometimes be slow however they do get very busy so it’s understandable so just allow an hour/ plus for delivery.

Over the past few months we have had several take-aways from The Oriental & have never been disappointed with the food or kind service. Love the food & the huge pancake rolls.

I have had meals from the Oriental before and they have been acceptable, at times, just about. I usually order a plain noodles with other dishes. This time, I ordered the special noodles. Upon opening the box, I had to remind myself that I had ordered the special noodles and not the plain noodles. It was an insult to describe the pathetic threads of meat and two small prawns as the “extras” that made this dish “special”. The dish looks almost the same as the plain noodles I usually ordered. I tasted it. It was dry and tasteless.

Hadn’t had a Chinese for a while and chose The Oriental from the reviews on here compared to others in our area. It was lovely! Portion size was really good and the only thing that let it down was that hubby’s meal was slightly bland but generally very pleased. Quick turnaround from ordering to pickup, food fresh and hot. Definitely order again

Tried this local Chinese takeaway for the first time tonight and was very pleasantly surprised. We had egg fried rice with beef curry and chicken balls with sweet and sour accompanied by vegetable spring rolls and prawn crackers. It was all well cooked, still hot once back home and delicious! The prawn crackers were especially light and did not taste greasy but were light a crisp and had been cooked in fresh oil. We will be coming back soon to sample more thank you for a really nice dinner oriental.

We used The Oriental because our other local Chinese takeaway in Maidenbower is closed on a Monday. Very pleasantly surprised. Delicious food, good-sized portions and we were very impressed. Definitely going again!

I have been using The Oriental for a number of years now, and have no plans to change at all.

This is the real McCoy and I was delighted, on a recent visit, to discover that standards are as high as always. Professional to the core, this take-away sets the standards for all the others. The quality of the food matches the courtesy of the staff. I was here on a Thursday evening, not their busiest night, perhaps, but still a lot of orders flying out of the kitchen.This place serves a large population, and manages to cope well under the pressure of orders. It was 5 minutes precisely from walking-in to leaving with my order in hand.

We have used the Oriental many times in the past and have always been more than happy with the food. However, tonight we made an order to be delivered & ordered online as it is always impossible to get through on the phone; the online info told us the wait would be a (very long) estimated 90 mins, we decided that we could just about last that long. Unfortunately the Oriental went past this time frame by 30 min, so we decided to cancel the order but couldn’t get through. We ended up ordering from elsewhere which we should have done in the beginning. Very disappointing service.

As usual great food we had a good selection everything was hot tasted brilliant. Always prompt professional service. You need to eat here if you love authentic Chinese cuisine. Thank you for a great start to New Year’s Eve.

We did a buffet order for 15 peoole for a christmas get together. Food was lovely and everyone was really impressed with the food which is always excellant quality.

Our go to Chinese takeaway. Faultless fresh tasty food. Well worth downloading their app to order as the phone line gets very busy.

The egg fried rice has quite a lot of msg. The chicken with bean sprouts was good but the salt and pepper spare ribs weren’t good. Really cheap spare ribs covered in a breadcrumb and were very over cooked as if they’d been reheated in a microwave.

Best in Crawley. Freshly cooked. Delivered with a smile. The duck is amazing, plum sauce to die for. The food sets your taste buds alive. I 100 percent recommend this Chinese takeaway x

Ordered the crispy shredded chilli beef on Saturday night and it was unbelievably amazing. I am an asian food lover and this dish went to the top of my list of favourites. Also the food was delivered before scheduled by Roland a really nice and funny guy. They also have the option to pay with card upon delivery, really handy. Great Food and great service. Good food but I must say it is more expensive than other takeaways, egg fried rice is a bit different compared to other Chinese takeways not fluffy and white a grey colour, that's the only downside for me.

I have tried many Chinese takeaways over the years, some are ok some of the time, others not so good ever. I’ve actually gone off Chinese over the last year as my local has become a bit bland over time.

We've used The Oriental for years and years. Have never had a bad meal from them but feel compelled to write a review (not sure why I've not previously) because tonight's was even better than usual. Every dish was gorgeous but I have to say, my Szechuan prawn was simply heavenly!

Well what can I say. If you want a lovely Chinese meal delivered to your door, this is the place. The duck is delicious, and so was the other items. Food is well cook, fresh ingredients and every bite stimulates the taste buds. It is also very reasonable in price too. 10/10 ty

Been going to this Chinese take away for years. After trying several Chinese take always in Crawley, this is the best! Food is always good quality, and hot. They always get the order correct which is not often the case with Chinese take aways! Only thing they could improve on is the phone, it's always busy on a Friday and Saturday night, even trying to ring every few minutes, seems like the phone is taken off the hook. Expensive compared to a few others, but you get what you pay for with the quality.
