We both ordered the burger, waited almost an hour, we complained as other people who came in long after us were being served their food? To be fair the restaurant staff couldn't have been nicer, they knocked the food and drink off our hotel bill and when the food did finally arrive it was much better than I expected, it was a really nice burger and the chips were good too. Maybe they were short staffed in the kitchen or we just had bad luck?

£250 for the afternoon tea. Wait time 1,5hrs. Staff doesn’t know what they’re doing. No one has approached us after drinks order. Would not recommend.

This place is so underrated! The grounds are stunning and ideal for a walk especially with a dog . A river spanned by a classical bridge spans a beautiful lake with swans and ducks. After the walk a friendly reception with a dog friendly bar and great food and drinks . The staff especially made a simple dog walk into a lovely occasion.

Restaurant room in the Mercure Hotel we were staying. Both breakfast and evening meals served here. I've never been here before, but over 5 days, there could have been a better choice. No staff asked about allergies and most meals had tomatoes (our allergy). Young staff from abroad, hard understanding Scottish accent.

We arrived quite late and were thankful for the venue to accommodate us. We ordered fish and chips and a fried fish filet, both were ok but a bit on a drier side.

We dined in on a Tuesday evening 19:30, busy but not too busy, great atmosphere. We had a deal so basically we could choose a starter and a main or main and pudding. We both opted for starter and main. I had chicken Caesar salad to start and Cajun Chicken burger. My wife had vegetable terrine and parpadelle pasta. Portions were very generous. Everything tasted great. We waited next to no time to get starter but quite a while for main. We're were served by many different members of staff for different things and all of them were absolutely lovely. We also had cocktails and a drink of pepsi. The drinks were very reasonable for a 4 star hotel (£9 for a large, well made passion fruit martini and £3.20 for a large Pepsi Max). We will definitely return another time if we can do a similar deal as we had a great time.

This was our 2nd stay here, which was complimentary due to a poor experience overall the first time. The evening meal was nice despite a very limited pub style menu (previously we had a la carte and a bar menu was on offer). The staff provided excellent service. Breakfast, however, we might aswel of been in a different restaurant. The bowls for cereal and fruit were all dirty. The milk for cereal was room temperature, and the coffee (from the machine was cold). I didn't attempt the cooked breakfast as it did not look very appetising. Breakfast was complimentary for us but I'm pretty sure it was priced at £16.50. Extortionate if it was correct. Our first experience was not good at all. What we ordered was not what came they had changed the ingredients without telling us. Had we of been informed I wouldn't of ordered what I did and my friend wouldn't of ordered extras. Parts were missing from the starter.

What can I say. We ordered a selection of hot 'small dishes' from the menu however all came up cold. One dish, the mixed bread and oil we were told would be another 5 minutes after our last small dish arrived. Staff were very apologetic and gave a refund plus free dessert however considering our food bill was nearly £60 for effectively 4 starters I think the food should be a lot better.

Avoid...... we sat down at 20:15 in a very draughty and cold window seat, we placed our order for food by 20:30. Starters came out at 21:30 (1 hour after we had ordered them) and they were stone cold, we sent them back and asked to be moved as my wife was froze, 25 mins later I watch a waiter deliver our starters to our old table and left them!! the manager came over and tried make excuses to why our starters won't be as warm as others, which was an absolute crock of poo!!! (I have never been served cold food in a restaurant) At this point the waiter had actually found the right table and delivered our starters again COLD, by this point I was Hangry so we just ate the cold starters, 22:20 our main meals came out and guess what COLD well I think the radiated heat from my chips had warm my steak enough to be at room temperature! My wife's fish was hotter than the center of the earth but her chips were stone cold. By this point I just wanted to get out of there, which we did just before last orders at the bar. We observed numerous other tables that night in distress, from having there mains before the starters, poor service and another table that had waited that long for food that when it did finally come out they were that drunk they couldn't remember what they had ordered. To top it off half the staff didn't understand what you were saying. It was an absolute diabolical meal and one we will never forget. We will not be returning and advise other to read the reviews before going, as they are true!!!

Went swimming in the spa and fancied a coffee to warm us up . I was definitely feeling hot under the collar at £5.20 a cup and out of a machine to boot. Lady who served us was pleasant though and the surroundings are lovely. We'll take a flask next time 😂🥺🤭

The worst restaurant and food ever! I cannot believe that a Mercure hotel in such a beautiful location offers this poor quality food and service. Overpriced restaurant around 20-30% more than other local restaurants which have much better food quality and service than this one! Kids menu is expensive and the pizza was half of frozen pizza which undercooked. Nachos order did not have most of the ingredients... It was very embarrassing. I definitely won't come back again and I won't recommend to anyone.

Lovely food and atmosphere. One of the waitresses(Anna) was a bit insensitive, but we can live past that.

Great hotel, the main hall rooms are amazing & worth the upgrade. The leisure centre is a little dated. But clean & well maintained

Food excellent and good choice of drinks available. Took a long time to be offered a drink at the table and had to ask for water. No salt cellar on the table. Food, once ordered, was quickly brought out and presented to a high standard.

2hrs at the table managed to get served 1 round of drinks and 2 courses. Nobody came back to the table at any point.

Not much offer for vegetarian and cheap bread, pastries, I had to have toast with Nutella there wasn't much to eat. Juice was not nice. I didn't see much smiles. Tin fruit. I help myself to peaches and the only fresh fruit was watermelon. I end up taking my banana because I was hungry. They need to have vegetarian options and label then clearly. Didn't have nice to take pic off. We only had breakfast. Dinner we went out.

Horrible. They brought wrong food and didn't have any clue what they are doing. Look like they didn't understand any word I'm saying. Ice cream was nice though after very long wait and confusion.

Beautiful area of the hotel restaurant, just that little bit more romantic than the main restaurant or bar. Lovely views from the windows of the grounds. The staff are lovely, especially Sandyiar and Josh. nothing was to much trouble .

We ate here both at breakfast time and in the evening. The evening meal was very nice. My wife and I both had three courses and enjoyed the food throughout, the service was also friendly and fast and the cost was reasonable. The breakfast however wasn't as good in our opinion. The queues for the breakfast buffet were short and the staff were as friendly as they were the night before, but we just felt the quality of the food was lacking. The sausages, beans and bacon tasted cheap, as did the bread and pastries. The scrambled egg was grey and tasteless. It filled a hole but that was about it.

Systems too slow for the demand, but food was nice. Overall this venue struggles a bit to cope, but I can see it's popular.

Serving was very slow. Maybe because we sat down outside table. I waited for 50mins to get main and another 30mins for a desert. They brought a different desert in the end. Cutlery was always forgotten so we had to ask every time we get different dishes. The food taste was average and small portion for the price I think.

Restaurant itself is very classy, good lighting and really comfortable seats with plenty of space, the food is average and may be a tad overpriced for what you get. The service is what lowers the score, very slow we were sat for an hour before receiving a main with other diners experiencing much the same, asked for menus and a drink and didn't receive either had to order at the bar myself. All staff very friendly however.

The staff are so friendly and pleased. The food is really good. I order 3 course meal, make sure you don't order all together - I did order starter-main-dessert at the same time and I barely finish one and they were serving the other one.... Just to clarify I was alone and I usually eat really fast...

Ate here while staying at the hotel. Food was terribly cooked and the fish was not fresh. Half the food on the menu wasn't available either. For the price, this is insane. You will get better food at Spoons. Lena, who waited on us, was the one saving grace of this meal, she was so helpful and friendly. Edit: added staff name
