The Orange Tree Restaurant in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Went for dinner on a Thursday evening during our long weekend to Old Hunstanton. The welcome and service was excellent, with our server being perfectly attentive, and happy to answer any of our questions. Our meal was delicious and the price was, we felt, very good value. We have been regular visitors to North Norfolk for 20+ years but this was the first time we have been to The Orange Tree. Will be looking to return in future

This is a beautiful pub with an excellent seasonal menu and experienced friendly staff. It is a genuine star of the Norfolk eating scene and one that we visit whenever we can.

Fantastic family meal. Great service and felt very well looked after. Pork & Scallop starter was fab, as were the pork belly and mussels mains. On the pricey side for pub grub at £150 for a family meal but worth every penny!

Another outstanding meal at the Orange Tree. Monkfish main was outstanding, ribeye with peppercorn sauce delightful and fish and chips with salt amd vinegar scraps spot on. We love this place. No room for dessert today, but the fairground is always a firm favourite.

Superb food but rhe service was even better. A fabulous experience. The Birthday Boy was truly spoilt & he was so happy with the whole evening.

Main courses were very good and we had the Fairground sharing desert which was an entertaining treat! Can’t remember the last time I ate candy floss and not sure I will do again but I throughly enjoyed the experience 😄. Staff were all friendly and it was a busy night despite being a Tuesday so I would advise booking if you want to be sure of a table.

Quick visit for us this time. Delicious mushroom linguini, haddock & chips, 2 lovely glasses of wine. Very friendly manager and waiters. What’s not to love! Definitely be back, particularly as the food coming out of the kitchen being delivered to other tables looked equally delicious.

Really excellent food and friendly staff. Also made our pooch welcome. The posh fish and chips was brilliant. I also really enjoyed the Cheeky Jack ale.

We booked last minute and was able to secure a table. I have become increasingly disappointed at the menus and food on offer at North Norfolk restaurants so when we looked at the menu I was initially very disappointed. That said we chose the posh fish n chips, which was good. We rarely eat fried food or chips/fries as the fat they are cooked in e.g. vegetable oil is very bad for our heart health. Although I would have preferred a healthy option and would have liked to have seen more vegetable options on the menu e.g. not pasta or risotto. As someone who works in the food industry I am becoming increasingly frustrated at the fast food options on menus and the lack of vegetables. It’s no wonder the UK has increasingly obese rates and are now following in the footsteps of the USA in terms of poor health and obesity rates. People are not eating the required fibre intake for a healthy gut. It’s no wonder colon cancer is on the increase. Please bring back healthy options and include more organic vegetables.

A great little find. Great atmosphere, a lovely country pub. Although we didn't eat here the food we saw going out looked delicious and we would definitely go back if we are in the area again.

We visited the pub without any special research or expectations. However we were very pleased to discover a very well presented tasty meal. Recommend!

We arrived on June 26th, when we pulled up on Motorbike we thought Wow! Our room was amazing, we had an evening meal booked and was the best prawn cocktail starter ever! The posh fish and chips were stunning!! Service great and breakfast was lovely! Will be back

Having read the reviews we were expecting dinner to be more than average. The portions were large but rather flavourless. The staff were certainly on the case but the main disappointment was that the reception area was used as a dining room, consequently we could hear all the conversations when the telephone rang and were party to a gentleman hoping to book a room for the night and trying to negotiate the price and find secure parking for his works van. Our table was very cramped as was the other table for two opposite us, the other table in the reception area seated four. There was a larger dining area just off the reception area, which was empty. The other downside to eating in the reception area was that the noise from several barking dogs in the bar area travelled through to where we were sitting. Needless to say we would not return.

A superb Sunday Lunch. So often I find Sunday lunch in a pub a disappointment as the selection of roast meats are dry, roast potatoes have hardly seen an oven and vegetables seem to be prepared at 11:30 and kept warm throughout the service. Not at the Orange Tree. The very friendly staff gave us a truly warm welcome and the food, starters, mains, roasts and desserts were simply outstanding, innovative and wonderfully cooked. A true credit to the chef and his team. Well done and thank you!

Blown away by the delicious, complex and beautiful food. Particularly enjoyed beetroot and butternut squash and prawn cocktail starters and duck and crispy chicken (+miso)mains.

Yes it’s a bit expensive but most good pubs up the norfolk coast. Plus you really do get what you pay for. To have one of the nicest meals I’ve had for a long time was worth every penny. Pork scallops to start, pork cheek mail and we shared the fairground dessert which is a must.

Had been looking forward to going here after seeing recommendations on Insta. It’s a really lovely eatery with seating inside and out. The staff were really friendly and the food was amazing! Best plate of food I’ve had in a long time! I had the pork belly and ate every crumb. Would love to go back and highly recommend to others.

Breakfast to die for. All layed out on bar is fresh local produce homemade jams. Full English cooked to order. Friendly staff. Lovely tea and coffee. We stayed in Manor lodge for two nights in Sedge and Crab pot. Both stunning rooms. Power shower Mira. Lovely views Sedge has it's own balcony. Parking outside for your room

Absolutely top class food and service was outstanding -this team works like clockwork and could give other local businesses lessons on customer service !

We went for an early Sunday evening dinner at this delightful restaurant in Thornham. The reception there from the staff was warm and friendly and being quite a large party we were shown to a nice, comfortable booth in an alcove. The service here was excellent and so was our dinner. All the food from the menu that we ordered was beautifully cooked and presented and I must say that we all enjoyed our meal very much indeed. We were particularly taken by the Norfolk fried chicken, with its Miso slaw and Vanilla carrot. As an added bonus, when we got to the last course of this fine meal, the younger members of our party were especially pleased with the arrival of their deserts. A couple of the unusually massive sharing plates, called “Festive Fairground.”

We thoroughly enjoyed the Fallow Deer & Pork belly during our visit and would highly recommend anyone looking for relaxed dining in a contemporary setting. Great service, great food, great location!

Went for Lunch with my mother, brother and sister. Food was fabulous- genuinely best meal I have had for some time. Highly recommend. Food was different- but not pretentious- all 3 courses were excellent. Really nice setting. For those with children I am not sure if they have kids menu or not.

Glad we booked the Orange Tree, Was very busy on a Saturday night, we were shown to a side room with 4 or 5 tables and looked after by a wonderful waitress (?Tayen?). Started with the butternut and beetroot tartare and the Salmon Beignet, both superb. The fried chicken main was excellent too and the trio of chocolate. Fantastic food at a very reasonable price and top notch service. Defo recommend.

As soon as I saw the menu I was excited. Having expected standard pub grub I was very pleasantly surprised to see a well planned, original menu offering seasonal local produce. When my food arrived it was even better than I had anticipated. Every component of each dish worked together perfectly. The flavour combinations were incredible and everything was cooked to perfection. The food was what I would expect from a fine dining restaurant, but the atmosphere was casual, relaxed, and friendly. I honestly cannot remember having a better meal in the UK. I would travel to Norfolk again just to eat here!

My friend and i went for lunch as it was her birthday.We had both been a few times before as we live in Norfolk and we had always enjoyed the food there. In the past there had been an extensive and varied menu but this time the menu choices were greatly reduced.The starters were not to my taste or my friends taste,so we went straight to the main dishes.My friend had the haddock and chips with mushy peas and i had the venison ragu.Both were quite good and we had no complaints.We decided to share a dessert and chose the bread and butter pudding.It was ok but every bread and butter pudding i have eaten or made myself has dried fruit in it and this had none,so is it a proper bread and butter pudding? i noticed that the evening menu was a bit more substantial than the lunch menu and i would definitely return for a meal but probably for the evening meal as i was a bit disappointed with the lunch menu. Overall,still not a bad place for a meal,especially in the summer as you can sit outside on one of the benches.Btw,this is a dog friendly pub (bar only) and sometimes there can be a very yappy dog or two in the bar,the noise of which can carry around the place. My tip is to peruse the menu online before you book and if you don't want the company or immediate noise of a couple of dogs,take your meal in the restaurant and not the bar.

Fantastic food with excellent service from Florence, this is a fine dining restaurant with good value, it made a special occasion a magnificent occasion, the staff could not do enough for us. If I was local I would get great pleasure in working my through the whole menu. Thank you orange tree

The reviews were quite good,so we decided to have dinner. My husband chose prawn cocktail for starters, whilst I had smoked salmon beignet. Both starters were fine, but not outstanding. We chose chowder for our main course - it was more of a fish soup made with cream. We had hoped and expected the unctuous consistency of a chowder, this did not deliver. Perhaps this is the new way of serving chowder with mussels and clams in their shells and small amounts of fried fish and potato. It was expensive and in our opinion, not value for money.

The gluten free fish and chips are the best I have ever tasted! My husband thought so too, he’s not gluten free. The breakfast was amazing, the gluten free bread tasted great! We will definitely be back!

Staying in Norfolk for a long weekend and had seen amazing reviews for The Orange Tree. Service was pleasant and the menu interesting. The food didn’t quite hit the mark in some aspects. There were some delicious flavours but there were a few issues. We had the clam chowder and the venison loin with potato porridge. The clam chowder was a very small main and really needed something else like some bread. It was also bordering on too salty. The table next to us mentioned that it was good too but definitely salty. The venison loin was lovely. Tender and perfectly cooked. The mushrooms, veg and gravy were also lovely. Sea salt had been scattered over the plate though and at times it was just too much. The porridge was nice but didn’t seem to fit the rest of the dish. I also found the berries too tart which didn’t work with the saltiness. I suspect the extra salt was in error in all the dishes and I believe the food would’ve been amazing otherwise.

Charming pub and restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was excellent. Very good indeed. We will definitely be coming back.

Came here on a recommendation. Incredible food, amazing service from I think Tay. Really hospitalitble. Sat in the bar area as we had the dog. Dog friendly is an understatement. Venison loin main course was one of the best dishes I’ve eaten out. Really recommend the pork & scallop dish starter too. Would 100% come again.

We were all disappointed by the meal and the general ambiance of the restaurant, chilly and characterless. The food was predominantly bland and flavourless despite the great care taken with the presentation. One of the party found the beetroot tartare actively unpleasant and did not eat it, we did point out at the time that it was not good but got little reaction. Simple stuff like the focaccia was spoilt by being reheated badly leaving it dry and crusty and we prefer prawns without the intestinal tract. Sadly we would not return or recommend the restaurant to friends, style over substance.

Literally went above and beyond with service ! You won’t get a taxi but they sorted it for us!! Fantastic service!! Cocktails are amazing!!

My friend and I stayed overnight in room 5, radiator didn’t work, got fixed, but the worst was our mattresses were disgusting and pillows badly stained, only found out after we had slept on them!

We are lucky enough to have eaten at numerous restaurants and gastro pubs across Norfolk, including highly recommended and award winning venues, and this is certainly one of the best……..better than most in fact! A great location, warm local pub atmosphere and terrific staff who were friendly, efficient and very knowledgeable and passionate about the menu which had a broad choice of mouthwatering plates. Our food was spot on in terms of presentation, portion size and preparation……every dish was truly delicious! Drinks offerings were also great, the coffee lovely and the value both reasonable and competitive. We could not fault it……a great venue with lovely staff and amazing food.

It won’t let me give zero stars, 8 friends arrived at this pub and was told by the staff at the bar to go stand in the rain outside and then they would send someone out to serve our party. I and my friends have never been so offended by the actions of this venue. Another party of 4 arrived at the same time coming from the same place we had and was treated completely different, this was pure discrimination.

Restaurant with B&B attached and reached externally. Large off-road carpark. The restaurant is excellent. All the staff are efficient and friendly with the exception of the housekeeping staff. I say this because the cleaning of our (and other rooms was cursory). The rooms are tired, and we were far too hot - this appeared to be due to heating pipes under the floor - Not underfloor heating but the feeds to the radiators - so you can't control them. Also in need of a handgrip in the bath due to having to step round the shower screen and missing the anti slip grips

Stunning! Just love the Orange Tree…it has to be my favourite restaurant on the North Norfolk Coast! I had their Prawn Cocktail…now forget the traditional prawn cocktail..the Orange Tree version is something else… Even the local mussels taste better here.. Can’t wait to return …

We booked a late Sunday lunch slot at 2.30 and rang days in advance to check booking and asked if needed to pre-order lunch and was told no need to. Arrived at 2.25 to be greeted with beef sold out and only 1 pork left!...
