The Orange Tree in Telford and Wrekin

Brilliant meal served by trainee Chefs (not that you could tell) Food amazing! Service amazing! Will certainly be back soon

A few 'buts', though we'd definitely go again... AMBIENCE - nicely decorated throughout with a pleasant Orange Tree theme from wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor. Nice passive music that could be heard but didn't impede conversations. Clean and spotless. FOOD - Wow! A great selection, perfectly cooked and excellent portion sizes. There was one 'but' (see 'but', below). STAFF - with one exception (see 'but', below), the staff were very friendly - the manager was very welcoming, as was the cook. FACILITIES - clean and spotless (again, see the 'but', below). BUT - room for improvement in some areas Food - my wife has a chili intolerance and chose the mushrooms (amongst other items from the menu) since there was no mention of chili. On arrival, the mushrooms had been prepared with a liberal amount of chili. This was immediately corrected, but maybe should have been mentioned on the menu. Staff - the young server - although polite - never smiled once when serving our food and drinks. Additionally, the server was keen to remove our individual plates as soon as we had finished. This made the experience feel unnecessarily rushed. Facilities - I know that the building is what it is, but the customer toilets are up a sharp, steep flight of stairs. Not a problem for most people, but my wife (whom walks with a crutch) found this difficult to negotiate up and down. Not sure if there are facilities for anyone in a wheelchair. I know, I've gone on about the 'buts', but this hasn't put us off going again. The chicken skewers, croquette potatoes, patatas fritas/bravas, calamari, prawns etc. were all excellent.

Had a great little visit here today for the first time. A warm, happy reception. Polite friendly service. You can see all the young staff working hard in the kitchen. We had a Chinese lunch buffet. 3 courses for 9 pounds. No problems food very good, really good quality, presented well. Serving staff lovely but seemed a little shy. If your reading this you were great and i hope you get a confidence boost. Very accommodating and better than many many restaurants I've been too. Well done all. Also the afternoon tea sounds a treat.

We attended a Christmas Luncheon here yesterday after also having been and eaten at the Indian and American Diner special lunches recently on offer at The Orange Tree. We LOVE the enthusiasm of both lecturers and students...and shall continue to support them all. My successful career was in the catering and hotel industry ..over 40 years of happiness it gave me, and I also trained at a college training restaurant many years ago. Everyone has to start somewhere ... and the college here has a fantastic facility in The Orange Tree Restaurant. I just LOVE the fact that ALL the food is fresh and and each and every dish is carefully made from scratch....and is delicious. Every single thing we have all eaten here has been superior to many restaurants we attend. Please everyone give them your support.

We and our daughter visited the Orange Tree Restaurant for Afternoon Tea yesterday. We received a warm welcome from the Foundation Learners and shown to a table which had been reserved by us. After having placed our order for tea or coffee we were served a Selection of Sandwiches together with Parsnip Crisps, Yorkshire Pudding filled with beef and a dash of horseradish sauce, a Sausage Roll and Mixed Salad. This was followed by an Assortment of Cakes and a Scone with Jam and Cream. The Quality was excellent and the Quantity was more than ample. We enjoyed the Afternoon Tea so much that we booked another one for next week. The Foundation Learners provided a very friendly and helpful Service. Many Thanks to them for a Job well done!

We visited tyhe Orange Tree at TCAT for the second time to try the Black History Lunch Menu. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were allocated a table near the window. We opted for the 3-course Lunch accompanied by wine and finished with a cup of coffee. The Food was well prepared and very tasty, served by friendly and efficient Staff. We enjoyed the Lunch so much that we booked further meals in the coming weeks. We have no hesitation in recommending the Orange Tree to family members and/or friends.

We have just returned from The orange Tree for the second time in the two weeks it has been opened up again. Absolutely "First Class" ...really enjoyed both weeks visit for both the food and the service. I had Seared Cured Salmon & Celeriac Charred baby gem, soused cucumber & parsley liquor to start with. Followed by.... Roast Cider Glazed Free Range Pork Buttered greens & an apricot, almond & sage stuffing pie.Vanilla Panna Cotta Spiced plums & tuile biscuits

My wife and I visited the Orange Tree Restaurant for the second time as we wanted to taste the March Menu, which has a limited choice. My wife opted for the Grilled Marinated Mackerel as Starter, followed by Roast Chicken as Main Course and Poached Rhubarb as Dessert. I chose the Duck Liver Pate, Roast Chicken and Bakewell Tart. The food was served within a reasonable time by friendly staff. All of the food was well presented and was of excellent quality. Compliments to the Chef and kitchen staff! We can highly recommend for anyone to try this Restaurant after having booked a table prior to the visit.

We visit the Orange Tree monthly to see what the new menu has to offer, the food and service is excellent and unbelievable value. Perfect for us as we are retired, it's a nice quiet restaurant. We bring our friends and will be back for the themed evenings.

Once more we have attended the training restaurant "The Orange Tree" and had another superb experience. The staff and students always make us welcome and the restaurant itself is warm, comfortable and inviting. The food is as good as it gets...and after working in hotels and restaurants for 50 years, I KNOW a good meal when I have one. I just love proper, traditional cookery methods, and this Chef is teaching his students exactly this concept. The menu is well thought out and well balanced...it is worth remembering the students are training here and not experienced restaurant managers, so a little patience is required. The hospitality manageress works well with the head chef and this reflects in the quality of service and care. I shall keep supporting this venture, and hopefully we can encourage others to do so also. Thank you very much to all of you at The Orange Tree!!!!

The Orange Tree is a training restaurant on the Telford College site on Haybridge Road. The service is to a high standard and the food is extremely good, even better bearing in mind the very reasonable prices. Strongly recommended for a Friday lunch.

We been to the Orange Tree several times now and have had some fantastic food. The portion sizes are generous, food is tasty and the service is very good. Highly recommended.

I had a business lunch with 3 colleagues last Friday and have to say that the quality of food was excellent and the service second to none. The restaurant has a lovely contemporary feel and the location is perfect.

me and my friends arranged group outing to this restaurant on the date shown above , upon arrival we was not pleased as we had to find our table our self , when sat down we was asked if we would like any drinks by a polite young lady called sarah, when drinks arrived we was asked what starter we would like , we asked for soup which was fantastic but the bread rolls were oily on the bottom , whilst eating our food the atmosthere was terrible as there was staff standing gossiping by the bar which did not set the scene at all ,then the bar maid was slouching all over the bar , then we had a rather lovely turkey dinner which was presented in top form , but i was not impressed when we had to keep asking for more potatoes, veg and cranberry sauce, then we ordered pudding which again was lovely , but one of the staff members brought a serving spoon to eat my dessert with then when i asked if she could replace my spoon with a reasonable size spoon i was told we had no more pudding spoons left and was to eat with serving spoon , so i found one on the table next to me. overall we thought the food was lovely.

Outstanding service throughout, from booking to bill. Great food, there was Italian menu when we went. Started and main dish were good quality and the dessert was heaven. Best Panna Cotta I've had in my life, absolutely amazing. It might not be the cosiest place around but it's definitely worth going!

My book club and I have eaten here twice now, thus sampling two different menus, and both times the food was plentiful ,well presented and very tasty. The waiting on staff are so pleasant and could not be more helpful. We had a three course meal, beautifully presented and very good value. The vegetarian options on both occasions were delicious. Needless to say we are going to be regular visitors from now on. Could not rate this venue more highly !!

Mis colegas y yo comimos en el Orange Tree en 2014 mayo. A la llegada nos sirvieron bebidas por algunos miembros realmente profesionales del equipo. Después nos sentamos a una comida de tres platos.

We had a three course meal which was just so nice... Especially the mains. I had chicken supreme which i couldn't say a bad thing about... there was nothing left on the plate. Would go/have again without a doubt.

My friend and I chose to eat here last week and we had a lovely evening. The menu was Indian food, and a nice choice. We went for the whole three courses! My friend had the vegetarian option and I had the chicken main meal. The food was plentiful, very tasty, well presented and the service from our waitress was excellent. I will definitley be coming back, a very enjoyable experience.

We went as a family for Mothers Day and had a most enjoyable time. Well done to all concerned. We have been before to the Spanish evening and enjoyed that and will most certainly be returning again. It is a real treat to have this facility in the local area, and even more so to know that the whole thing is run to help young people progress in their chosen trade.

A fabulous experience - great, modern facility, light, airy with excellent food and service. This is definitely a place to visit! The trainee front of house staff and the professional cookery students were delightful, attentive and their high level of skills obvious. The food was presented well, served on beautiful, hot plates! the glassware and cutlery were of a high standard and the ambience was perfect. This is a gem of a restaurant and outstanding value for money!

served by very courteous hospitality students, food was well portioned and I only had to wait a short time from ordering my food to being served. very modern atmosphere, I was also accomodated for my allergie. I would highly recomend the restuarant to others. I visited last week and this week my recomendation of dessert had been put into place. which I must say was absolutley delicious.

A visit to this newly opened restaurant is certainly one to be added to your list of things to do. The food was excellent and was prepared and presented by a group of young but very capable chefs. The front of house staff were very enthusiastic and their attention to detail certainly added to the overall experience. I hope to return in the very near future.

A great venue, friendly and modern. The staff were attentive and very helpful. We had a 3 course business meal, the food was good, served well and all special requests were remembered and catered for. I would recommend this new restaurant experience for business or family occasions as the relaxed atmosphere and good service was a pleasure.

Cant fault the relaxed atmosphere, Outstanding Food, Presented well at Great Value. The serving staff are attentive and professional, without the feeling of them having to as a corporate procedure, when they ask is everything Ok with your meal it's because they want to know and feed it back to the chiefs.The price of £12 for three course meal a bargain but its worth double that, the speed the fresh starter's arrived at I've not had in any restaurant before. The food is top top quality, you can tell the Trainee chiefs care, the food is top notch and presented like a work of art. You may need to book ahead as places are limited but worth it.

We visited this restaurant for the first time on Valentine's eve and it was a lovely experience. On arrival we were taken to our table and a complimentary glass of bubbles arrived. The menu gave a good choice of starters, mains and desserts. The food was great, cooked well and presented beautifully. The staff were friendly, welcoming and confident. The atmosphere was comfortable and romantic and and we just relaxed in to the evening. A great restaurant to visit and excellent value for money. We will be going back!
