The best fish and chip shop in Essex’s. I’m from bristol but I go visit my family there and this is my go to place EVERTIME!

Everything was cold, waited for an hour for cold food

Early delivery is fine, but once again we didn't get all the order. A couple of phone calls and 30 mins later the rest of the order arrives, meanwhile everything is now cold. This happens far to often with this place.

Unfortunately it was delivered to the wrong address….

Nice - but disappointing not hot!!

Could collect quickly but missed my daughters chicken nuggets off the order. Had to go back to the shop to get them, by the time I got home my dinner was cold.

Your noramaly send great food but today what a let down pie was hard and not steak and ale onion rings stone cold and the chips was for the first time uneatable i never leave bad feed back but this time you needed to know

That was disgusting, chips were basically cold and rock solid. The pies were cold and can tell they've been sitting there for ages. The apple pies were un eatable so we had to throw them.

I'm staying locally for work for past 2 weeks, been here 3 times now, I always ask if the chips are fresh and low behold they are hard and dry as been sat for ages, nearly broke my teeth, should have learnt from the first time, its such an insult as I'd pay more for chips that aren't dry, I'm from Cornwall, shocking chips. Avoid I'm afraid as it's the fact they lie to your face. Despite being pleasantly served. Missing out big time when hardly any chip shops this way!! PS me and others are not interested in your boring excuse to my above complaint, take it or leave I do not care one bit.

My food is always nice here inder and Steve always ready with my order prompt and very friendly highly recommend try the whole menu lots of very nice food and customer service

It’s changed hands since I last ate there and you can completely tell. Not sure what’s going on with the oil but it made all the fried food taste bad and has left a bad taste in my mouth. A big shame and will be my last visit

The haddock was absolutely awful and the chicken was dry sorry it has gone down hill and I wouldn’t order there again

The chips tasted like they were cooked last Xmas. Very bizarre. I wouldn’t mind paying the prices for freshly cooked chips but these were defo cooked before I was born. From potatoes harvested BC!

I live very close by and took way over an hour to deliver, food arrived cold and soggy, ordered a mars in batter, dairy milk bar in batter came and it was rock hard. I will never order from here again with the exception of a rare occasion I will collect instead. Waste of time and money.

The Only Way is Fish have supplied the food for our Camping & Caravanning Club Christmas party for the last couple of years and after reading a few reviews we were a bit anxious about ordering through them again for last Saturday but we need not have worried! They delivered over 40 portions of fish&chips, sausages & chips, saveloy & chips, pie & chips and chicken nuggets & chips bang on time and piping hot. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food so many thanks to The Only Way is Fish!

Good food quality and quick delivery.

The haddock cooked to perfection. We had it twice, and both times it was delicious. Selected small chips; the serving size was significantly larger than what was anticipated.

Fish was cooked well, chips okay, lots of small crispy bits. But the man who served us seemed to have an attitude problem like he didn't want to be there. A course in customer relations wouldn't go amiss.

Waited over an hour for food , eventually called - they say they delivered it. Conveniently they’re now closed so no food, no refund. Absolutely shocking service do not use.

This chippy is our local and never disappoint, fantastic portion sizes and good value for money compared with some other chippys we have been to. Always have the cod which is always cooked perfectly- white and flaky.

Food is okay but very overpriced. Paid £5 for a role and a batter sausage Customer service is terrible. Very blunt and rude asked him to cut my sausage and batter and put it in a role he chucked it all in the bag without cutting it and not doing what i asked for Ill only come here if im staving but rather go tesco and get a meal deal after that

Opened my box of cheese chips to look like this !! I’m disappointed because I have been here many times before and the food was lovely but this time it was not. There was barely any chips in the box and the cheese wasn’t melted,I have got to say I am very disappointed.

This review is about the owner and his friends and not the takeaway as I have never been there, however having experienced his behaviour along with his friends at another establishment I would never in a million years give this arrogant aggressive disrespectful man my trade. You should know that he and his friends think is is okay to go to a restaurant that have families seated and use the c word and any other expletives they could think off as loud as they want with children seated next to them, they actually asked members of the restaurant staff ‘Do you know who I am’, as if that made it alright. I have never experienced such disrespectful, arrogant, aggressive behaviour in a restaurant, where a group of customers think that because they also own an establishment close by that they are special.. well you know what, you’re not!! In fact your behaviour was disgusting and for that alone I would never ever give you my custom.

Overpriced and the wings are hardly edible

The food was very fresh & hot. I ordered an extra tartare sauce for a charge of £1.95, it came in the tiniest pot & wasn’t even half full! I think that charge is absolutely shocking. Not a happy customer as that ruined it for me

Cod was greasy and batter was not crisp, just soggy, couldn’t eat it. Quality seems to be declining over the past year, which is a shame as it used to be very good. But there’s been repeated problems recently👋

Just fancied pie and chips . Served by a boy sweeping the shop. Didn't even wash his hands , just to get home and see the pathetic box of chips. Scraping the barrel and burnt curry sauce . This place use to be beautiful, what a let down . Lost my custom

Prawns in Tempura batter were not they where in breadcrumbs and watery as though cooked straight from frozen

Food quality has deteriorated. Chicken burgers were drenched in mayo, fish was anemic, chips cold and over cooked. Will now be ordering elsewhere as last few times have been too disappointing.

“Spicy” Chicken burger was awful! Chicken & Bun both completely soggy because a desert spoon of mayo was smothered all over it with one soggy bit of lettuce leaf in the burger and zero spice let alone seasoning on the “burger” Very disappointing after just moving to the area and this is the first place we tried.

2.50 for a peice of chicken that looks like dog food. Embarrassing to call yourself a food vendor when your kicking out food like this. Time was 3pm so can't even say it's been sat there all day. Time to improve chaps

Very good fish cooked just right

The calamari was saturated with breadcrumbs (must been home made) and it wasn’t nice at all, the chicken nuggets were watery, ended up in the bin. Waste of the money. I won’t be using again. Delivery was early and the drop off driver was polite and respectful for the property.

The food is let down by the service of those in the shop. Our order arrived a few minutes late but items were missing. Shop employees were very abrupt, rude, and unhelpful. Missing items were replaced but these were also late. We will not be ordering from here again.

Definitely best fish & chips around, great quality & fresh just a shame they don’t put the piece of lemon & the tartar sauce in the box anymore, especially considering the price - also forgot my 2 gherkins on this order! Won’t stop me re-ordering though

I ordered 2 large chips and a chip roll. Only one large chips came and the chip roll was just a buttered roll, no chips (chip roll comes with its own chips right). Delivery person was very chatty, I just hope she didn’t have anyone else’s food to be delivered otherwise it would have been stone cold!

This was an absolutely awful savaloy and chips, rock hard savaloy and and rock hard chips. This place use to be excellent before it was taken over now it’s dreadful. 3rd time I’ve tried and the same every time. Never again!

This place has massively gone down hill. This used to be one of our favourite fish and chips locally but not anymore. The portion sizes have shrunk and the prices have gone up. The most shocking part was we ordered an extra tar tar sauce for £1.75 thinking it would be a little tub of it…turned out to be 1 tiny sachet that normally places give out for free or charge 10p max!

Food is incredibly underwhelming this is the second time ordering we thought first time was just a bad batch but no. Chips are soggy and the menu is incredibly overpriced for the products you receive would be ordering again wouldn’t recommend to anyone just a waste of money..

Portions were good but the food fell out of the bag packages, we got regular cola not cherry as per our order and over half the chips were chewy where kept warm or refried. Disappointing.

I have had a take away before from here and it hasn’t been too bad, so decided at the last minute to order tonight, it was an hour late and when we received it, it was terrible everything was cold and the curry sauce which is normally lovely and thick was like curried water, the worse curry sauce I have ever tasted, this is the last time I order from here, my husband has had a couple of occasions were he has had hairs in his batter, awful

Chips were very over cooked burger came with cheese when I ordered a ham burger and kids meals come with no drinks took a whole hour for them to deliver the right burger and missing drinks

Ordered cod and chips at the weekend. Delivery was early which was always nice. Good size portions, fish was cooked excellently, crispy batter and flaky fish and loads of chips. Only criticism would be curry sauce could have been a bit thicker

Food was good, but had to wait to be served as the young male person on the till was outside the back chatting with the women who were smoking out the back. When he did come to the till he just stood there and gave me a stare, with no "hello" or "what would you like". Just a long stare which was very strange and a bit creepy. He then took the order acting very much like he did not want to be there and could not be bothered, and could really be taught some customer service skills if working front facing on a till - even if its just giving a smile, asking people what they would like instead of just creepy staring, and acting like he was bothered would not have gone amiss. He was also the only one wearing a hoodie, unlike other staff which seemed to be wearing an official uniform. Very strange and despite good food, this odd situation has really made me consider not going back.

Been using this chip shop for 1 year & it has got worse & worse. The last straw was buying a regular portion of chips & driving all the way home to find a half empty box of chips that was just enough to feed a small child! Seriously, TOWIF get your act together! You serve the smallest portion of chips I’ve ever seen in life! Shocking
