Proper old pub. Allegedly the oldest in Watford. No real ales available which is a shame.

It is a very pleasant place to have a drink. Staff are very friendly and polite. I do enjoy coming in for a lemonade when in the area.

Went there late afternoon on a Saturday. Very quiet and cosy. Just at the bottom end of the main shopping area so not as busy as some of the other bars in the town centre.

Perfectly acceptable older pub, with traditional decor and decent selection of beers. Some of the draft ales were off (mid afternoon on a bank holiday) Landlady welcoming and efficient. Pub ideal for a quiet pint while waiting for the shoppers. Gents cubicle out of order at the moment but shopping centre loos are within 2 minute walk if you are stuck

Looked interesting so went in for one before the match, unfortunately my neck oil was off. Only one bar staff on a match day so massive queue at the bar.

Always busy after a home game for Watford but still good service 👍👍 Been closed for a few weeks for repairs but as of the 6th August 2022 open from 12 as usual.

Great traditional pub, as tourists we were made very welcome, great recommendations by bar staff for restaurants to visit which were excellent.

Great friendly staff in the oldest pub in Watford, good selection on non generic larger from around the world to tantalise your thirst , Whilst having a few screens to keep track of any sport being shown ( uk) One of the only real boozers in town bar the wine bars.

Better than it has been over the last few years. There was always problems with the drains which caused a stink but air fresheners strategically placed have helped. Needs more English ales though.

Came in here for a beer Saturday, great selection of beers and had sport showing on the tv. Pub is a bit small though and some drinks weren’t available but they weren’t visible e.g. cup over the tap. Seating was decent, pub is cozy.

The pub used to serve some real ales. Sadly now nothing available so had a lager just as needed a drink on a hot day. Next time will wait to get to a suitable venue

Been coming in here on and off over 15 years, used to be a haven for a quiet pint away from upper High Street, now loud music played at ear damaging levels and no real ale. Hope it gets better, as the pub is full of character and has real potential.

Quite a nice place to chill, and you can finally pay with card, which is a plus! Be aware when you read this reviews that this place change management way too often, so older reviews might not apply.

This is a beautoful old pub ( the oldest one in Watford). The staff ( recently taken over) are friendly and efficient. prices are very reasonable. The place is clean. If I could fault anything it is that food is not available. Maybe the new owners will get around that in time,

real ale rarely on and not that clever if on!!! Need not have closed if owners had spent some money doing it up to attract better clientel, now Watford has lost yet another pub!!!

We were made very welcome by all the Staff ,whom were very polite ,friendly and most of all ,made us feel at home. Reasonable prices as well. I strongly advise visiting this pub. We have no hesitation in recommending it .

It's okay, expensive, but okay.

We were delighted when the One Crown re-opened. The interior is fab, great drinks selection and food really good and reasonable. But then the bar staff changed. One lady in particular has the personality of a drain and downright rude. The place is really let down by the ladies toilets, broken seats, filthy dirty and clearly not cleaned regularly. A real shame as this pub is in prime location.

Ran out of real ale. Unbelieveable!

Seems to be an okay pub. I would have given 4 stars if the pint had been topped up. We opened an office in Watford in the last year and I have visited a few times in the last 4 months. They have changed the menu recently so you only have the option of a number of small plates as opposed to more conventional food. That said the food was very nice and the service was friendly although rather clunky. The food took 45 minutes to arrive despite the place only having 9 customers including us. Lovely beer garden outside and a decent choice of beers. Will happily visit again soon but the service and the kitchen need to speed up.

Seems to have had a much needed partial facelift. On my visit it was open mic which had a friendly crowd.

We enjoyed the music and the counter service was very kind. We liked the lovely attitude customers sung the old songs from the 60s-90s along with the player. You could have more selection on craft ciders/beers.

Proper old school pub! The locals were freindly! Nice beer garden. The staff seemed to favour the locals! Enjoyed the night all the same. Would return if I was in the area again!

I've only recently been coming here, but it's quickly become my favourite pub in Watford. They used to sell Blind Pig cider which first drew me in. I love the dark atmosphere inside, it feels very snug and I'm pretty excited about coming here during winter for some kind of mulled beverage! The beer garden has recently been refurbished, with the outside bar still being worked on. It's lovely to sit outside with a pint, and dogs seem welcome. Open mic night on Thursdays is fun and I need to go to it more regularly. They also have regular live music from bands, but I'm yet to go to one of these nights. The food is pretty good. I normally stick to the 3 for £10 small plates, but the burgers are nice too (£8.50 with a pint on Wednesdays) Staff are always friendly and chilled which is good. It's only a short walk from Watford High Street station, or the bus stops at Water Lane, so it's easy to pop in while waiting for a bus, or get the last Overground train at night!

This is the oldest pub in Watford but is lovely and clean. Has a garden area at the back and does food too but not having had any can't say how good. Beer selection seems to be from the Czech republic but has others as well. They have live music on Thursday plus other events as well.

Just been refurbished very plesant

Recent revamp means it's very different than before which is a good thing. The beer garden out the back is coming along nicely too.

Claims to be modern but is far from this. We had some leaving drinks for a colleague but were unable to sit outside as apparently it was undergoing a refurb... I guess this was the same day as the fire at Woodies. Anyhow, good ales and an average atmosphere even after a Watford match...

Before a WFC match , you'll find a cracking pint and atmosphere with both sets of fans. Recent refurb is great. Everyone welcomed.

At first glance, the restaurant appears cozy and inviting. The food was very tasty and typically English such as fish and chips. The staff was also very friendly and understandable but not very attentive. Maybe we're used to being served and it's different there. Overall, a recommendable restaurant.

Das Essen war sehr lecker und typisch Englisch wie z.B. Fish and Chips. Das Personal war ebenfalls sehr freundlich und verständlich aber nicht sehr aufmerksam. Vielleicht sind wir es auch gewohnt bedient zu werden und dort ist es eben anders. Im Ganzen ein empfehlenswertes Lokal.

In Watford on business, thought I would try a local pub for a drink and a pint. Ordered a Sunday Roast, the only option available was Chicken. What arrived looked ok but it was clear that the chicken was deep fried, not roasted. The rest was just bland and disappointing. Next time I will stick to one of the many chain restaurants in Watford.

Great Pub in the high street of Watford. Popped in on a SAT afternoon after a match @ Vicarage Rd. Friendly service and good selection of beers. Not far from Watford Junction station. ALl round would recommend.

Always come in for a pint before going to watch the mighty Hornets. Nice little pub, good service, reasonable prices. They do food but never tried it.

As we were unable to get an alcoholic drink at Meat and Shake up the road we visited here for a quick drink before heading back to the hotel. This was a very ‘classic’ kind of pub and more of a place for locals rather than for people visiting the area. We happened to visit here about 20 minutes before open-mic night started which was a bit much for us so we didn’t stay for long after that started. We had one drink each and they were pretty standard prices... nothing too exceptional about this place but it did the job

Welcoming. Very reasonably priced menu. Nothing fancy. Burgers, fish and chips etc. Enjoyed our visit last night, so called in for a livener after shopping.

Hardly any chicken on leg. Frozen (hard) veg, pud & potatoes. Watery gravy with onion in. No stuffing. Shame cos pubs ok!

I arrived at the One Crown Public House after a bizzy days work. To be meet with a chilled bar with great Leather wing backed chairs . With Chieftain ale on tap I was a happen bunny. Am awaiting my food choice will inform you of that result in next review wx

My current favourite pub, sausage sandwich is delicious

Modest sized pub at the bottom of Lower High St. Watford. No car park, but not far from the INTU carpark (Kings). Friendly place that used to have a pool table and a dart board. It was refurbished in late summer 2017, to become more of a dining establisment. It has a small garden to the rear.
