Lovely lunch with my mother, with fresh and tasty ingredients in the food, and friendly service.

Second breakfast on a Saturday morning, bit of a buzz after park run. Great bacon, but the star is the scrambled eggs!

Delicious eggs benedict, killer rocky road and lovely staff! Great independent caff with lots of loyal local customers, including me. Back again in 2024 - still fantastic! Omelette and carrot cake this time👍

Had the avocado poached eggs for breakfast this morning. It was absolutely delicious! So fresh and the chutney was a beautiful touch 😊. Service was perfect too, very attentive and friendly. We had a lovely chat with the owner and are pleased we found this little gem. Thank you again!

We live locally and I have no idea why we've not visited this lovely café sooner. The food is excellent and served piping hot, lots of it, fresh and tasty. Friendly staff. Will be coming back on our walks.

I was actually a bit disappointed with my lunch here. The tuna cheese melt was not melting, but cold in the middle and really quite expensive for what it was. And I think it is wrong to sell a can of coke for £2.

My friends and I have been going to and supporting The Rhubarb Cafe for years. However, the quality of the food has deteriorated, serving sizes have noticeably reduced and the cost has increased so much it's probably the most expensive cafe in Watford now. On our last visit, they hadn't reserved out table so we were struggling for space. The food was mediocre, and at the end of the meal, they suddenly decided they wanted us to pay by cash despite individual payments by card being acceptable in the past. Final nail in the coffin was telling one of their biggest supporters they couldn't put up with her any more. Fear not, we won't be going back and have already found a far better venue for our regular birthday brunches.

Popped in for breakfast with 2 adults and 2 children, the bill came to £67… Over priced for what you received.

This place was a bit of a conundrum. There were three of us and the food was quite good, we had two full breakfasts and a bowel of porridge. The full breakfasts were tasty with all the usual fayre and the porridge did come with plenty of strawberries and blueberries, so many in fact that you couldn't see the porridge, however that's no bad thing. However, the sausages were a bit underdone and the breakfasts were on the cooler side of tepid. This all on a price scale usually only seen around Mayfair or Belgravia. One of our party asked for an extra fried egg instead of beans, they obviously forgot as this arrived about ten minutes after the meals. My wife also asked for toast with her porridge, but alas, again after having to prompt the waitress this didn't turn up until we had finished. On a final note, please, please put up some signage saying you only want cash (not convinced about this as I have seen some reviews on here saying they do accept card or was it only us, due to the fact we weren't locals) finding this out when you go to the counter to pay, is not acceptable. A trip to the local cashpoint on a cold winters day isn't my idea of fun.

Lovely place to eat or stop for coffee and tea!! Very healthy good ingredients and very helpful with gluten and dairy intolerances!! One of my favorite places!! ❤️

I just got there and tried to open the door.It didn’t open and they were just staring at us.They didn’t open it or tell us anything there was people inside.

Me and kids went to eat brunch because they wanted something sweet and I saw the menus and i knew that it would quench that sweet tooths. I can see that I was very happy with the outcome of the food, and my kids were very satisfied when we left. The service was absolutely amazing, and the staff were really kind and had lovely smiles on their faces when they delivered the food to our table! It’s a lovely and peaceful environment and I felt comfortable when I was eating with my children. I even got some cute photos of the branch that we shared. My children are adopted, and this was our first meal together as a real family, and I loved it. Will definitely be coming back with my children and my husband next time.

Food is always of a surprisingly high standard. More restaurant quality than cafe.

Have had another tasty vegetarian breakfast/brunch at The Rhubarb Cafe. Always difficult deciding which one to opt for. Also lots of tasty options for the rest of my non-vegetarian family. Friendly welcoming atmosphere.

My family and I are frequent visitors to this fabulous, family run cafe. The food never disappoints! Whether we choose waffles, omelettes or the full rhubarb breakfast; it’s always beautifully presented and devoured in seconds (a very high recommendation from my teenagers!) We always get a friendly welcome. Be sure to book a table - it’s a popular place!

Live locally and have eaten here plenty of times but the last few times have been so disappointing. Food is ok but the prices are steep and portions are smaller than they once were. When my friend and I went for lunch recently we started to eat our food only to then be told they only accepted cash (no signs to say this) I didn’t have any cash on me and when I voiced this I was told there was a cash machine by the shops. I had no card on me as always use Apple Pay on my phone so my friend had to go and withdraw cash to pay. I have paid by card here many times before so I know they do take card. Perhaps it’s to avoid paying the tax man. The lady who seems to be the owner or manager is miserable and rude and I won’t be going back. I have already shared my experience with friends and family only to find they have also had a bad experience on more than one occasion. For a local cafe who relies mainly on those that live in the area I find it baffling that they don’t make an effort to be friendly. Be careful not to get to complacent or you’ll find Daisys in the Park will be getting all your customers.

Lovely as usual. You order a sandwich but get more than that with the beautifully presented food and friendly service. Have been coming here for years, and on a good day it’s so lovely to sit outside too. 👏

Plate arrived, went to eat and noticed a half dead fly moving around, then noticed there were about 10-15 flys dead on my hashbrowns. Made staff aware, to which they took care he plate away and offered no apology, in fact the cook came out completely ignored me and gave me devil eyes. Highly recommend to stay away from this place.

Overpriced and appalling service. I purchased a coffee and the owner noticed I had cash in my wallet but I wanted to pay by card, as is my right. Her demeanor completely changed and she looked at me like I'd paid her in faeces. The coffee then took ages with foul looks from the staff. I don't understand how this place stays open (other than by overcharging)!

Sadly an all too typical review of eating out these days. Overpriced, pretentious, with poor service and poor value. Wanted £14.50 for the bubble breakfast plus £3 extra for has brown, so £17.50. Also had a black coffee and wife had a Diet Coke - lukewarm no ice or lemon. She also ordered a tuna sandwich two tiny pieces of bread which looked like cardboard, no butter no salad zero presentation. Tuna dry and tasted horrible. My bubble breakfast arrived some time after my wife’s sandwich with bacon and sausage missing. Staff had no idea when challenged. All in all a poor experience, left the food and drink on the table untouched and went to the Essex Arms opposite - two excellent full English breakfasts. £15.98. That’s more like it.

It was my first time visit here. It was pricy but the sandwich was tasty and the latte was very nice. There was a clear sign on the counter that said that card payments had to be above £5.00, which is fair enough, we spent well over that. Upon payment, my friend asked the lady if we could split the bill please as she handed over her card, she ignored her request and said she’d prefer cash. We didn’t have cash so the lady just put the whole amount on my friends card (which is find, I can transfer my friend later). The point is that we said thank you and goodbye to her and the lady didn’t even acknowledge us. We thought she was really rude. If you don’t want card payments perhaps your sign should say no card payments!! There really was no need to be like that because we didn’t have cash. We won’t be going back.

You are a coffee shop. Please learn how to make nice coffee! Coffee is of sub-standard quality and overpriced. £3.50 for a take out. Also served too hot to drink. There are much better coffee shops out there who make much better coffee for less.

Decent, good food. A little pricey.

Went for lunch we had the chicken salad and falafel warp. Great portions size. Fresh and cooked to order food. Reasonable priced. Really nice girls that work there. Able to have dogs outside which was a great bonus. Will return It loses 1 star from me as there sweet treats scones, muffins etc.... are all costo bought. Would be nice to see some home-baked cakes etc..

Love this cosy cafe in cassiobury. The owners are lovely and the food is cooked perfectly. It's nice to have a local cafe where you can sit back and relax with a cup of tea thats not a greasy spoon.

Horrible eggs Benedict. Lumpy and off hollandaise sauce. Toasts were very hard, couldn’t cut them with a knife. Very bad customer service. The owner is moody and rude. They don’t accept cards either!!

The service was terrible - the person serving us was not friendly and the food was bland. Having ordered some coffees, we asked for hot water and were told in a rude manner that they would charge us £1.50 per person for the water! The place is a rip off. Would not go again.

Came in for a wonderful Rhubarb breakfast and a mocha, it was delicious, mind the eggs were slightly underdone, however, that is a nitpick. The wait for about 10 mins which is perfectly fine when dealing with a family before me. Service was good! A little on the pricey side but I think it is justified.

We picked this cafe purely for its proximity to the M25/Warner Bros Studios (Harry Potter) as we didn’t have time to go into Watford (and reviews) it was busy with locals It is very close! Its in the middle of an exclusive housing area and I think its why the cafe (and the chemist round the corner) is somewhat overpriced. But then we saved lots of time The coffee was good and came quickly but the cafe was cold and we kept our coats on like others. The heater was switched on later Ordered French Toast, bacon and maple syrup - came cut in little bits round the edge of the plate (white sandwich bread) with little bacon bits on each piece (odd) and a very mini maple in the middle. Filled a hole but would have been much better with chunky brioche/type bread, whole bacon and less than £9.50. Husbands bacon pancake stack looked a better but same price. Coffee yes but wouldn’t rush back for this type of food

Well, the food was quite nice, but the service wasn't great. We ordered to takeaway and when my friends got their food they decided to sit down inside and wait for me to get mine, the lady working there proceeded to give us the dirtiest of looks and ask us if that "we are definitely having takeaway" not the best reception of a first time visit. Then two people came in after us and asked if it would be quick if they ordered as they had somewhere to be she then replied saying if they sit in or order takeaway it would be the same and then gave them a dirty look and shook her head as they turned to sit down. Having a good relationship with current and new customers is key for a business and if she doesn't sort out her attitude then I doubt it will improve

I'm surprised about how many people rave about the place, but as it stands now, I I wouldn't recommend it because the portions are too small and the prices are too high, the hygiene isn't up to par (one table we sat on had a strange smell of unwashed mope, and we had to move to another table), the waiter service isn't great, and the atmosphere felt unfriendly. I believe the owners are trying to cut corners by thinking it's acceptable to sell an overpriced food to their customers.

Nice little cafe with seating inside and out. Staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. Food was yummy and coffee first rate. Dog friendly too.

Victoria sponge was awful solid cake and 'old cream ' I sent it back, refused to eat it and not even a word of apology

Overpriced and not worth the money. Halloumi toasted sandwich was served with tiny bowl of crisps. Asked for brown bread and got cheap white sliced bread, hardly toasted. Tiny amount of halloumi, most unappetising and then charged over £6 for it! I did complain but just got a sorry. The service and quality had deteriorated, they are relying on their catchment area of the wealthy Cassio estate. This is no reason for scrimping on food and overcharging. Also beware, I asked if sausage was beef, was told yes and luckily I noticed was actually Cumberland sausage which is pork. Staff need to be trained properly many people cannot eat pork!

I’m glad other people found the service bad as this is reassuring! It is a quaint nice cafe that has potential to be something really special. It drops 1 star for being over priced, they even tried to charge me for extra hot water for my tea! And another star is dropped for the unfriendly and unwelcoming service. There are lots of cafes around and I look for places that not only provide good food but a warm, welcoming environment. Being unfriendly to customers is unnecessary and puts people off coming back, so it’s also not a good business model either! Neither is charging for extra water as I’ll just go somewhere else now so they lose out my custom for the sake of a bit of hot water.

Impeccable. The café interior is clean and comfortable. The outside tables are really pleasant. Good value for money, with a very good menu. The French Fruity toast was outstanding as was the Turkish coffee, and banana milkshake. Will definitely visit again!

Lovely little cafe not too far out from the town centre. Vegan and vegetarian breakfast options are available and plenty of beverage and hot drink choices. Portions are a little small, but it was a lovely cooked meal. Parking is available on opposite street and is permit free on Saturday and Sundays.

The place itself is lovely and warm. Service is not. on my first visit waitress asked if I wished to pay by card or cash, when I mentioned my option was card, she stressed out that they generally prefer cash and also bother to guide me for the closest cash point! No way, as I paid more than 10 pound for an omelette and water! Second visit, I ve asked for pitta bread, avocado and humous and even if its from lunch menu and it s worthy 9 POUND, before ordering I asked to the same waitress if it s generally filling or if it s just a little appletizer. She said many people order for lunch, it s not massive but could be enough anyway. when plate came out I got a tiny micro appletizer, ridicolous portion of a avocado and literally a split of humous for again the price of 9 pound...not complaining about price, it is what it is, but the service it s unfair. Never come back again

We used to love this little cafe for a quick Brunch. The food is quite nice but the customer service has never been great but we used to overlook that in the past. However on our most recent visit the owner came to take our order....it was absolutely horrible the way she made us feel. There was no greeting or ask us of we are ready to order ..just simply stood there with the most angriest of faces making us feel really uncomfortable, looking at our direction and talking in native language with the most daggers of looks. When my husband told her that as an owner she should be friendly with customers..she got very rude; defensive.and very patronising .I don't normally like leaving reviews but I came on here to check if it was just us and what other reviews were like. We were shocked that so many other people have commented on her rudeness and witchy nature yet she continues to be rude to her customers We were extremely put off this time round and we visit quite a few places and have worked withim the hospitality industry ourselves. We can honestly say this is the most worst customer service experience ever

Rude woman, who acts like a witch. So rude to her staff in front of customers but just as rude to her customers. Doesn’t care about customer service, only cares about how many people she can squeeze in at a time

This cafe has lovely outdoor seating in a peaceful spot. The menu is varied, with traditional breakfasts and more unusual Greek/med style as well. All the vegan options are there for coffee. Staff are helpful and friendly.

A lovely little coffee shop for tea, juices, sandwiches brunch, breakfast or lunch . Multiple choices on the menu. Very friendly service. Tasty food. Outside seats if the weather allows. Strongly recommended.

My son and I regularly visit the Rhubarb cafe - it is a delightful cafe. It is so clean and homely and the food is always delicious! The staff are friendly and accommodating; nothing is too much trouble. A real treasure hidden away in the Cassiobury Estate - we cannot recommend enough!

This used to be our go to breakfast/brunch spot but recently have had a couple of bad experiences that’s made us not want to go back. Firstly, the older woman is very unpleasant and not very customer friendly - she shouted at her staff member...

A repeat brunch visit today. We we're naughty and had pancakes and French toast. They were lovely with fresh fruit and bacon. Nice lunch in the sun. Good fresh food with a wide choice for everybody.
