Just popped in for lunch after a demanding morning as I seen a post on a local group on facebook so me and malcolm thought we would give it a go as we always support local buisness as a buisness woman myself the only way to go bigger is the custom. Calm and collective environment food was nothing stunning I found the sunday lunch to be very plain. Nothing was delicately placed on the plates seemed sling shotted so it didn't match the advertising and the man sharing posts on facebook actually has a negative review on facebook of this establishment which says a lot. Would thrive with decent leadership all the problems span from the top clearly disorganised definitely an act to polish up, diverse menu with variety which is good but not good if they just have anybody in the kitchen who are throwing things on plates also quite dusty. My hubby said his dinner was gorgeous. May visit if other reviews claim it has improved. Hope they get it sorted, always available for any advice you's may need as a local mumtrepreneur myself. Much love lisa x Gentleman's review whos sharing the posts below x

Attractive cosy & warm restaurant. We were made very welcome. Excellent care from a staff member who was under significant pressure working front of house bar tending & serving alone. Food was tasty & nicely served. Good but not excessive choice of menus. Tables were nicely dressed & colouring sheets & pencils were provided for the children when requested. Toilets are clean & pleasant. Parking is easy in local car park ( not Morrisons).

On entrance we were hit with an unpleasant foisty smell, if you closed your eyes you'd think you were in a charity shop. The name doesn't match the scene as there was not an olive tree in sight. Top of the stairs was like a hookers boudoir with 6ft chairs infront of a mirror, the only thing missing was a bowl of johnny's, to which it reminded me of the red light district in good old amsterdam. The table was booked for 15:30 sat down at 15:40 as the table wasn't set up, the women working the bar was too busy drinking lemonade and chatting, yet the order was taken quite quickly, food arrived quickly. potato skins was a good sized portion with only 1 sauce option which was white and bland, lunch came and what a disaster, 3 tiny little finger sugarsnap peas, 3 pencil sized streaks of carrot, 2 somewhat small roasters, ladle of mash and 1 growth of broccoli the size of a £2 coin. the selection of vegtables on A plate the size of a steering wheel was an absolute scandal. The beef was tougher than tyson fury which made me feel like a bulldog chewing a brogue. The atmosphere was dark and dingy the vibe was (brothel) through and through, de wallen eat your heart out. Decided to not stay for dessert as we didn't really feel like eating a vanilla cheesecake from the freezers of springways. Still no olive tree's in sight, mentioned to the woman with the power, who spoke to the chef, who said (sorry). Elton John says sorry seems to be the hardest word yet it's rolling of the tounge in The Olive Tree. how many times do they plan on appologizing this evening for the absence of veg and the tough meat. This was at 16:20pm and sunday lunch is served until 19:00pm god help the poor soul who will be getting the war rations if they rock up at 18:00pm. Poor planning on the kitchen end, clearly no stock control or plan B when food becomes a shortage. Morrison's is a stone thow away with every type of vegtable you can think of, it's shame nobody went. I compared my plate to the nina simone number (ain't got no) and we didn't. Ain't got no parsnip, ain't got no cauliflower, ain't got no swede, ain't got no peas, ain't got no cabbage, ain't got no stuffing, I got a bill. Boring and bland. £26 on food, here in The Olive Tree to which yet again no olive tree's present on site. not well spent at all. Most definitely will not be back unless I'm chained up kicking and screaming but that seems to be the theme in there (suggests the decor). The self-proclaimed Blyth's best kept secret is a disasterous secret. Sorry for the poor review but it was a poor show. In response to The Olive Tree's response still no olive tree to be seen? Not once in my post have I personally insulted any member of staff, but as a small buisness trying to strive, as you (steph) choose to put it I don't think insulting paying customers is the best effort to bring in more custom is it? I hope anyone reading this review chooses to go elsewhere, because steph is probably there playing judge judy. She's lucky we even chose to pay for what we got because it was borderline dispute level. They don't anticipate how busy they are so there online booking system must be as cheap as they buy the food if it isn't even providing a potential forcast of custom. I suppose the extra vegtables would have come at an additional cost so does that mean if i fancy more veg i become oliver twist and ask for some more for free? Come to think of it was I asked how my meal was mid course?was I asked when my plate was taken away? Nothing can be done at the end so if your complaining just complain as you walk in. can't nock 10% off for bare minimum of veg if i've paid for it i expect it but yet again if im there at 12 or 4 there's a more and less vegtables but the price is the same for less? Thanks steph for your personally insulting response my socks and sliders they will always have more style than the so called hidden gem of a restraunt (brothel) your running, steph suggests this is a false review and it has been reported so has the olive tree rats writing reviews enjoy FSA when they come nocking.

We have visited twice in a short space of time and both times the food has been the best we’ve had for a long time! The garlic chicken pizza is amazing! We’ve had both the chicken risotto and mushroom risotto and what can I say absolutely beautiful! We went to a well known restaurant in Morpeth last week and we both said The Olive Tree was way more tastier! We will be back soon with the family and I highly recommend the Olive tree when people are looking for recommendations for a nice meal. Food, atmosphere and staff 10/10!

For the second time in a row no solouvaki and no mythos. You can't be a greek restaurant without the basics. Only 1 waitress. Not good enough. It's a pity because this used to be a good restaurant. Either a change is needed or you will lose your trade. By the way my Husband wrote this, not myself as he felt it was a bit of a let down. I personally enjoyed what I ate though!

Sunday dinner was ok, although the pork was very fatty, but the desert was poor. The apple crumble was chunks of hard ball shaped lumps and custard looked like it had been scraped from the bottom of a pan, and there was no where near enough of it.

We have often had food here and in the past it could be a little hit and miss but last night we tried the date night steak menu again and it was outstanding! Special offer with 10% off usual price of £45 the quality of the food this time was exceptional and great value. Plenty of options in sauces and sides but we chose Steak, pepper sauce triple cooked chips mushrooms, tomato , salad garlic chilli king prawns and beer battered onion rings . There is a new chef at the helm now who is enthusiastic and passionate and you can see the difference . We really need to support restaurants like this in blyth so visit again now and you won’t be disappointed. I even tried the chefs home made strawberry cheesecake - amazing!! As usual the service was outstanding . Great people , very committed to building the business. We will be back . 5 stars !!

After seeing a post on facebook of how much extra support yous need we immediately booked a table a week ago for tomorrow night. Today a week later we got a phone call to say they can’t accommodate our booking as they are fully booked. We were really looking forward to bringing our friend from Scotland as it was one of our favourite places in Blyth not that we have much choice. We used to pop in for lunch during the day or when we had friends visit Blyth we would always choose Olive tree for our evening meal. My issue is that they left it a full week before deciding to call us and tell us they can no longer accommodate us? I find it very unprofessional and hard to believe this restaurant has been fully booked for a week. No offer of a table at a different time either which we probably could have done.

Came here today for Sunday Lunch, I had booked a table for 3pm and arrived at ten too. Quickly seated with a choice of tables and we're given menus to browse. After about 15 minutes I asked if we could place our order, to a waitress passing. I ordered a starter from the Sunday Lunch menu, my husband from the main menu, a coke and a coffee. Drinks were brought over quickly and we waited for our food, and waited, and waited. Just under a hour after placing our orders, with no offer of any other drinks the starters came, they were very well presented and tasty. I did say we were about to leave when the starters were served and the waitress didn't comment or ask if we wanted another drink, our food was placed down and she walked away. Our starter plates were cleared by a young girl who looked tired and said it had been one of those days. A young gent came over and apologised for the wait and asked if we would like a drink and we said yes. He explained it had indeed been one of those days and that a hour before had to be fixing the ladies toilets. Our main came at about 4.40, just under 2 hours from sitting down and unfortunately was not worth the wait. I had ordered the mixed meat, with chicken, it came with pork, the lamb was mostly fat and the been tough. The veg was so hard, I even asked the waitress to try to cut it and she couldn't. The Yorkshire pud was cold and they forgot to put the mash on the plate, it was brought when asked for. The meal was not charged, or ate and although the staff were lovely I wouldn't be rushing back as the meal was so poor and it was not busy. My husband had the sirloin steak and it was cooked as required and his meal was fine, if not memorable, hence the 3 stars. I heard the staff apologise to a number of tables so I know I was not the only table waiting over a hour for a meal.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, arrived at 6.00 pm only to find one waiter trying to serve 15 people plus the six in our party, not a good start. We were totally ignored for the first half hour before he decided to ask what we wanted to eat. We asked if he could turn down the music which was loud, this he did but was increased again shortly after and we forced to listen to ………….. for the rest of the evening. THE MEALS we ordered five starters which eventually arrived which were very good. Then the main courses arrived, out of six meals only two were acceptable, mine which was a steak was so tough and stringy it was inedible. When we commented on the poor quality of the four meals the waiter was totally uninterested. COMMENT This was my second visit, the first was with friends and was brilliant which is why I took family with me this time on my recommendation, I had to apologise for the terrible attitude of the waiter and the rubbish food. It will be a long time until we visit again and looking at previous reviews it appears the owners do not care.

After reading the reviews we booked for4 for Sunday Lunch 25/2/2024. Well the meal didn't live up to expectations. Starter (potato skins) okay desserts where nice. But the Roast Beef dinner disappointing, they where cold, roast potato where frozen ones and the parsnip under cooked, Yorkshire pudding burnt, I was the only one with roasted carrot and they where burnt, no body had the same vegetables, my plate had leeks as a vegetable. Leeks on a Sunday lunch in my opion is a no no. And the plates where swimming in cold gravy. Sorry to write such a negative review and wont be returning.

Edit: As asked by the company to explain my review. My review was when it was called La Casa BUT not the original good la casa. It was under the new management the current management that runs the new name The Olive Tree. Hospital isn't just what you serve on the plate. We went from consistent regulars to never again. The same week the new management posted on Facebook about taking over la casa but "everything remaining the same" they declined to use a gift voucher to purchased the week before with the owner not even coming over to discuss the issue. The waitress dealt with it (she was great always has/had been). He Tried passing it over later saying it's a new business yaddayaddayadda but you can't say it stays the same, with the same name and refuse a gift voucher with the name on. Wasn't even the voucher that's the issue to be fair I paid in cash, made sure the waitress got the tip and tipped her then left. It was the integrity of the situation. Refusal of a £70 voucher cost the company a lot more in repeat business than it did me

We visited on a Wednesday evening, was busier than We expected, nice decor and atmosphere. The food was good, I had the mozzerella salad, fresh and tasty, Mrs D had brushcetta and it was delicious. I had a mixed grill main, was ok, but said fillet steak on menu, but it was not fillet served. The mac'n'cheese had cinamon in which was awful. Mrs D had chicken Gyros which was nicely cooked but served with tatziki pasted on the flatbread and chicken dumped on top, would have preferred them seperate with Tatziki in a put so she could decide how much she fancied. Draft lager (Poretti?) Was delicious. The biggest letdown of the evening was the service. There was a new girl who was polite and friendly, but the girl training her was ignoring her and chatting to another table, we waited (listening to her conversation about her apprenticeship/college dillemma) for 15 minutes for her to show the new girl how to pour lager, then as we were eating our meal she returned to the same table leaving an older couple waiting another 12 minutes to pay their bill and leave. All in all, we would say the olive tree is worth a visit. Perhaps the new girl will be trained now, and it will be better to visit the next time. I will update this review next visit.

This place is almost faultless. The food was amazing as always, the service impeccable, you could not have better staff. I have criticisms in spite of thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere and would recommend it to anyone in or around Blyth. They are: 1. Have more than 2 serving staff. They did a wonderful job but in a full restaurant serving Sunday dinners they went above and beyond. I've worked in the service industry and they were none stop, these people deserve THE BEST pay for the amount of work they did. The restaurant is lucky to have two of the best staff in the industry. 2. Christmas lights in June. It didn't take away from the venue, but once I noticed the snow and green and red projections on the ceiling it did feel odd. Especially given the greenery around the beams seem to be pine garlands. But the whole meal went without a hitch. I miss Caboose and some tweeks could really take this from a great restaurant to an exceptional one. Rooting for you guys <3

My brother and I went to The Olive Tree for the first time last night. To say it was fantastic would be an understatement. The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. Our every need was catered for. It was evident that all staff members that we were served by really liked their job and were happy to be there and help. The food was served in a timely manner and there was plenty of time between courses. The food was hot, delicious and went down a treat. The portion sizes were lovely. But the pleasantry started before we even arrived. We had our table reserved for 6pm and we’re running late. I contacted The Olive Tree and asked if it would be possible to hold are reservation for 15 minutes and it was not a problem. Nothing was too much trouble here. I would and will be going back again. Well Done to you all. You have created something very special for Blyth!

Visited here on Saturday, 4 of us. The service could not have been better from our server and the cocktails were amazing. However, the food was a major let down. One of our party sent theirs back. It was truly awful, and filled up on sandwiches once home. Our server apologised and took the food away, she was lovely, but no one else came to ask what was wrong. None of us will be going back

I had the lamb which was superb, but don't normally eat red meat, a fish dish would of been nice but still enjoyed what I had

Disappointing. Expected more due to being a restaurant with the same people who ran Caboose. Food was mediocre, smelled damp on entry and no atmosphere. Wouldn't return unfortunately.

Pleasantly surprised to find this outstanding restaurant in Blyth. We visited tonight for the first time and we cannot recommend it enough. The staff, service and food were excellent, particularly Jess who looked after us this evening, a friendly and professional young lady who is very efficient and obviously enjoys her work and being part of the team. The food was excellent, huge portions and it was piping hot. I’m just gutted I didn’t have room for a sweet. Reasonable prices, spotlessly clean, family friendly - we most definitely will be back!

Really impressed. They've got everything spot-on: the decor, lighting and background music creates a relaxing atmosphere; the staff are professional, courteous and friendly and the food is excellent. Best halloumi I've tasted for a long time!

We came for a meal on Saturday evening, the service was outstanding however the restaurant was Baltic. My starter and main were fantastic however the dessert was very disappointing! I had tiramisu and none of it was coffee soaked and I’m pretty sure it had fondant icing on it, the portion was smaller than my index finger and you couldn’t taste anything that was on the plate other than the cheap chocolate sauce it was drenched in! I think the dessert cost £6.50 or £7 and I’d love to know how they can justify that price.

visited this restaurant for the first time sun 26-6-22 for a party of 8 booked by my partner restaurant looked nice and we were the only people present the waitresses were young and seemed inexperienced but the drinks arrived as did the starters the portions were small but fine thats where everything started to go downhill rapidly mains arrived well 3 did a while later 2 more the remaining 3 all ordered the same dish which came 1 at a time about 10 minutes later and the wrong dish we had all ordered pollo dishes but there was no chicken just 4 prawns on a bed of rice we were told by the waitress the dish didnt come with chips or veg when the menu clearly stated it did the dish was taken away about 15 minutes later the correct dish was brought but only 2 when 3 was ordered i pointed this out and was told the chef would cook it straight away by this time everyone ws finished their meal so i told the waitress not to bother i think it was abit cheeky to charge full price for such shabby service but we will never set foot in the place again and then to top it off was blanked by the waitress on the way out thankyou la casa for ruining my birthday meal

We used to go to Gianni’s regularly when the original owners ran the place and it was always a firm family favourite. We went back tonight for the first time in years and it was like stepping back in time! Delicious food, great atmosphere and fantastic service - just like it used to be! We’re absolutely delighted and we’ll certainly be back soon!

Popped in for a drink on a walk with a view to potentially have dinner with my husband including 10 month old son - unfortunately unless there’s a crack down on teens vaping inside the pub on tables next to us we wouldn’t return.
