The Oligarch in Milton Keynes

We first experienced this amazing place during the recent "MK Restaurant Tour", and were massively impressed. We recently revisited on my partner's birthday (on a Tuesday evening), and again were served the most delicious food in an opulent and relaxed setting. ● Oysters to share as a starter ● Seafood platter ● Ribeye Steak All perfectly cooked / presented, and every mouthfull deliciously tasty and succulent. Joanna was the perfect Waitress, attentive and not overbearing, and Alex (the owner) was happy to chat to us. The Oligarch is our new favourite restaurant in Milton Keynes and we'll be back very soon!

The Oligarch truly offers a premier dining experience with exceptional food, drink, and service that sets it apart from any other establishment in or around Milton Keynes. Having visited all the "recommended" venues, The Oligarch stands out magnificently. Opting for a Saturday lunchtime to avoid live entertainment or DJs, we found the food to be extraordinary and the portions generous. Although the prices are on the higher side, the unparalleled experience justifies every penny spent. Having looked at other reviews - avoid peak nights, get bookings confirmed in writing, enjoy your favourite dishes, and recognise that the best costs (we did all four).

Booked online for a bottomless brunch at 4:30pm, arrived and got told that their brunch ends at 4pm. I got told that we should’ve looked at the brunch page on the website, even though their booking system lets you book brunch until 4:45pm. We had to present the email confirmation to them as proof. A couple members of our party arrived late, and we were fine for the brunch to begin at the time of booking (4:30pm). We got told we had to wait until all party members were there to start. Throughout the meal we got constantly reminded that they needed the table, and we were to hurry up - not allowing us to relax and enjoy our time on my birthday. We were rushed off our table, and we would understand more if it was fully booked but there were lots of other empty tables. We asked to remove the service charge on the bill because we didn’t feel that we received an adequate service. As soon as we walked in the restaurant we were confronted with hostility when they told us brunch had finished (despite our booking - please see attached screenshot), and this continued throughout our time there. We wanted to support a local business, instead of going to a chain which is a shame that their staff were rude and hostile. Nice food and cocktails though.

I came here for drinks with my sister and we received such lovely assistance and hospitality from Jermaine He was so pleasant and friendly. He's an asset to this place. It's refreshing to go to a restaurant with such lovely staff

I had high hopes for this place, but sadly, it was a major letdown. The service was incredibly poor and the staff were extremely rude. We came here for my sisters birthday lunch. We booked online for bottomless brunch for 4:30pm. As we arrived we were told brunch ended at 4pm, despite being able to book online specifically for BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH. After 10 minutes they finally agreed to honour this as we had already booked it. Although we did arrive 10 minutes late, we were told this was not an issue. We stated that we would start the brunch at 4.45 but they stated that they were happy to wait for our friend to arrive (who was still running late). Our friend arrived at 5.15 so we completely understood that the overall booking was late. We were fully prepared for them to have started the brunch at 4:45 and we expressed this to them at the time. However, as previously stated they were happy to wait for our friend. This later changed, when we were approached by the manager, not long after. She told us that we were late and that we needed to start because brunch had ended at 4!! Despite our booking not beginning until 4:30. This was a huge mis communication between their staff members as we were told 5 minutes before that they did not mind waiting. The service though out the evening was particularly poor, specifically, I encountered several issues with the attitude and professionalism of the staff, in particular our waiter. We were told numerous times that we only had X amount of time left, due to them being fully booked, despite 7 tables being free around us. We later had a conversation with the manager and brought up this issue to her. She advised that the service had been ‘quick’ because we arrived late. Your website states that bottomless brunch lasts for 90 minutes. Around 15 minutes before our booking ended, we were told that we needed to leave because a family were waiting to use our table. As previously stated, we would have been happy to move as I am fully aware we were late. However, it felt as if the staff were trying to cause unnecessary problems as there were still 7 tables free around us. We then moved to the tables outside where we were sat for 50 minutes before any one joined our table. Obviously if our table was booked this is understandable but being told this many times took the enjoyment out of our experience. We finally collected the bill where we were surprised to see a £22 service charge for our shocking service. We asked the lady who served us to remove this due to the service and she, maybe understandably, asked why. We explained that the entire experience has been difficult. We spoke to the manager after this who came up to our table. We told her how we felt that communication was not clear at the restaurant. Whilst we understand we were late, we do not feel that the level of service should be compromised. Considering the prices on the menu (a burger being £19.95) we cannot see that this place could be described as ‘premium’ or worth the amount they charge.

Went with my girlfriend and this place is extremely good. Definitely a perfect place for friends or a loved one which many options to choose from. The place looks absolutely phenomenal only thing is you just have to hope you don't sit next to the speakers as they are loud when you're near but from further away are excellent at adding some atmosphere.

Food was absolutely superb - from starters to mains; easily the best steaks we've had in Milton Keynes (with a heavenly red wine jus!). One small hiccup was that the chef mixed up the steaks; I'd ordered a medium-rare sirloin and my son ordered a medium-well ribeye ... but the sirloin was medium-well, and the ribeye medium rare! Both were delicious though, so we simply swapped. The young lady serving us was a bit on the abrupt side; efficient enough, but didn't exactly make us feel welcome ... which meant I wasn't really happy about paying the 12% service charge, but it wasn't worth making an issue about. Overall though was still an excellent dining experience and we'll be back.

Great cocktail variety, friendly and fast service. Really reccommend the seabass and piña colada. Not the best variety for vegetarians, but otherwise, a great selection!

Simona was very rude to us. She actually poured chips on my sister and walked away.

Their food was good but the customer service wasn’t great. We were served food without cutleries and we had to keep walking inside to remind them of one thing or the other. Atmosphere was okay tho.

We loved the service and overall ambience of the venue throughout the whole evening, when it comes to quality, ultimately, you do get what you pay for.

What a fabulous birthday experience. Food is excellent and cooked exactly as you ask. Staff are attentive and friendly. Lovely decor. I am probably a little old for their target demographic, but I loved it here. It oozes quality and they made my birthday feel special.

Good food, lovely decor and atmosphere with a DJ doing his magic. The place wasn't busy for a Friday night probably because they've been in service for not long, but the DJ and the decor/lighting counteract this. I love the concept.. eat/drink, chat, listen to good music and dance if you are bold 😄. Definitely recommend.

What a fantastic place! Food is cooked to perfection and so flavoursome. And the portion sizes are enormous fillet steak is twice the size you would normally expect and the lobster too. The service is second to none. Will definitely be coming back here. Wow! And thank you

Restaurant with atmosphere and vibes! The place has ample seating & decor and it makes place suitable to any mini celebrations! Food was routine (good but not great) and liked to see some speciality - uplift notch high like ambience. Staff were friendly and good service! (possibly I was in one of school night & less busier time) Like the Drinks/bar options as they serve all the regular cocktails 🎉👍🏻

Delicious roast dinner for 2 - really reasonably priced with large portions

Our second time eating here and the food was equally as good. Joanne was a great waitress making sure we had everything we needed and all staff were diligent in making sure everyone had drinks. Will definitely come again. I had the lobster which was cooked brilliantly and my husband had the steak, cooked to his liking. Great place to come for date night. Cocktails are amazing.

First visit and would highly recommend - our waitress Georgia was great (to be honest all the staff were brilliant ) My starter and steak main were delicious 2nd visit - better than the first Joanne was amazing, Johnny walker was tasty but nothing compared to the amazing starter and steak again. Just to say a big thank you for the amazing service and food for my birthday party! Georgia was the main person dealing with our table and she was great! Friendly and there for all the requests we had. It was 14 of us, and everyone loved their food! Coffee was also good at the end. First time visiting and we’ll certainly be back! Loved the music, and the decor of the place too!

This afternoon, my girlfriend and I thought we would try something new. They are currently nominated for a Milton Keynes Food Award, and I am beyond amazed at how they managed to get nominated. I couldn’t think of a worse place to eat. The decor, the staff and the service were nothing but brilliant. The problem came when we had our food. I ordered a fillet steak for £35. As per the menu, this came with fries (bought in) and what resembled a salad. The meat, which I’ll now refer to as just that meat. I don’t believe it was a fillet. I asked for medium rare, but it was cooked brown throughout. I asked for peppercorn sauce in the hope that it might give it a bit of flavour. Sadly, it didn’t work. During this, I was oblivious that my girlfriend had ordered the seafood platter and was greeted with ice-cold mussels, meaty cold prawns, but some nice salmon and potatoes. We asked for the bill and said that the food didn’t meet our expectations, so they asked us to write a review rather than receive compensation for the food. After some conversation with the waitress, they removed the steak and were very helpful. I imagined this would be a brilliant place for drinks on a weekend, but there are 100 other places I’d put first in a list of where to eat in Milton Keynes.

Had an excellent lunch at The Oligarch in Milton Keynes. The ambiance was stylish yet relaxed, and the service was impeccable. I never take the time to write reviews however, the service, atmosphere and food were so good I have too. Went here for my friend’s birthday meal on Saturday, I had the steak and lobster and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Even though they were busy they couldn’t have been more attentive, food was the best I’ve had in the area and we will definitely be back!

This is the first time I want to leave a review about an experience or service I had. As soon as we entered in the restaurant, we were greeted with a smile, we were seated at the table, having the opportunity to choose our seats, the restaurant not being very crowded. We had a small talk and even received a compliment. Served the appetizers and enjoyed the comfort and atmosphere of the restaurant. Little by little it became more crowded and full of life. When the main courses were brought to us, we were amazed at how the plate looked. Delicious food, placed carefully on the plate, we did not rush to finish it, but enjoyed the food. We were treated with care,from the beginning to the end, although towerds the end the restaurant had become full. Even when we left, the door was opened for us with the same smile on the face. Thank you for such treatment, we felt like we were VIP.

The Sunday roast was divine, the food was first class and cooked perfectly, by far the nicest roast I’ve had. The restaurant is cosy and luxurious. Amazing waitresses especially Georgiana and Ioana.

Place had a great atmosphere but ordered food got appetizers and had wait 1 hour for main dish after appetizers. Once food came out I think my T-bone steak was undercooked because of trying to rush food after 1 hour wait. Manger did try to be accommodating but overall just wasn’t the service and food I was expecting.

I’ve been a chef for 10+ years and this is the best meal I’ve had in Milton Keynes by far, ioana served us and was very attentive and professional, will be back 100% and for anyone else you have to try the bruschetta

Went here for my birthday last night. Gorgeous decor and lovely food. Our waitress was excellent but was run off her feet which meant that we weren't offered any desserts. Would have been nice to have some cake and a candle.

We had the bottomless brunch and we liked the choice of food. The food was nice. I got the mussels with fries. My friend had the ribs. The staff who worked there were all friendly and nice. We even tried the oyster as extras ,which were yummy ❤️

Truly epic fillet steak - on both my recent visits. Old school delivery (grilled mushroom and tomato) takes me back to steak restaurants of old... and the meat is sizeable, beautifully aged and cooked (rare), resulting in a velvety-smooth and delicious steak experience. I'm sure there's other good food here too but you won't go wrong with the fillet.

I really like this place, but I beg you answer this question as it's sparked a great deal of debate: why has a Turkish bar named itself "Oligarch". None of us could wrap our heads around that choice? Great place and would highly recommend, but I really need to understand the name choice 🤣

Great restaurant, lovely aesthetics & tasty cuisine. If you looking for a vibrant restaurant which is pleasing to the eye, here is definitely the place.

We come this way two to three times a year and now we have found The Oligarch we will be returning on our next visit. A special mention to Georgia our waitress who was excellent and made sure my food was gluten free, brilliant and thank you.

Booked this lovely place for my sisters birthday and it was such a lovely beautiful evening. Firstly, the restaurant decor is absolutely stunning! So beautiful, the manager sat us at a lovely high table with stunning background (naturally us girlies got our photos and selfies). The Service and ambience were all amazing. Shout out to the lovely young gentleman who was working hard all evening and Georgia who ensured our service and dining experience was top tier. The food? Yummm!! I went for meat and the birthday girl opted for seafood, we both LOVED our dishes.

Had the lobster, was really nice. They tried to put a 12.5% service charge on the bill for two people. When we said we didn't want to pay the waitress asked why, which I found strange. We left a tip as we always do when we go out. But I'm not paying 12 pounds when the meal was 86. Make sure you check your bill!!!!!
