There was a special on the breakfast So we asked for it £12 It was double of everything, but my partner isn’t a big eater so I said on the one could you only put one of everything instead of two ( still wanted to pay the £12) They would benefit really we were told we can’t do that , we asked why , Didn’t say I will go and ask Just No ! I said you could make another breakfast with which we don’t have ! No was still the answer Well I felt like getting up and walking out, Why is my question ??? Small breakfast was £5:95 I’m a bigger eater so they wouldn’t have lost out ! Not even a smile on their faces Don’t care what you want ! That’s how they do it and that’s that, So if you want customer service there don’t bother .

We were looking for afternoon tea and had checked a few options online: the quirky building and the price looked appealing. You choose your own sandwich (slightly extra charge for salmon and prawn) and cake, which means you get a customised option. Portions were massive and they let us have a doggy bag for the cake. Lovely staff, lovely food, staff very adaptive too: let us swap tea for juice and our jams for no extra charge. £10 a head and limitless tea and coffee.

Popped in for a quick drink and lunch with a friend. A good welcome by a member of staff, but we were promptly informed of the various items on the menu that they didn’t have. The reason being the “Easter break”. Bearing in mind one item was tuna ( an item my friend would have chosen for the baked potato filling), and possibly echoing previous comments, how difficult is it to go to a local supermarket and buy a couple of tins ? We both settled on baked potato with cheese and beans (we were told that they had no beans, but found some) and tea for two. The tea was luke warm unfortunately, and the extra hot water, wasn’t . The potatoes to be fair weren’t bad, but served on very small plates so difficult to eat. Neither of us would return, the cafe looks tired and in need of a good clean. A shame, because with a bit of effort, this could be lovely.

The Luke warm drinks where served with a scone jam an no cream, at no point was we told no cream the owner just snapped ‘shall i take it away! ‘ i have multiple illnesses and was put on the spot so i put up and shut up as the owner made me feel intimidated. She said they had no other cakes as she had been on holiday. No refund offered for missing cream. Outside the cafe had strong sewerage smell and inside was dark and dank. Cash only taken and not returned if order not fulfilled. Do not recommend. No option for zero rating so gave one reluctantly.

Popped in for lunch while visiting Lichfield. It was 3.30pm, so they were only serving sandwiches, cakes and scones. We each had a sandwich, shared a scone, and had a cafetiere of coffee and a pot of tea. Food was tasty, service was great and bill was reasonable. The building is gorgeous, over 2 floors. I'm looking forward to going back for afternoon tea, at a bargain price of £18. While supporting a small, local business.

Well ! In Lichfield and fancied a breakfast Saw an A board in the street and 2 full English for £9.95 seemed to good to be true Busy when we arrived got the last table upstairs Menu was good lots to choose. I had the full English with extra black pudding wife had eggs Benedict and we had a pot of tea. Tea arrived first Then came the food!!!! Full English not a difficult thing to do? Bacon raw sausage was nice, beans are beans, tinned tomatoes cold, mushrooms ok, eggs nice and runny, black pudding was alive. Good cpr and it would of walked off !! It had literally been in the grill for 10 seconds😬 Toast. Well it was warm bread. Never seen a toaster and was buttered for you ! Wife’s food looked ok. Just ok Went to pay. Cash only said mrs overall. Replied it says cards accepted all over the place. Not today. Cash !! Quite rude. Perhaps tell people it’s cash before they order ?? All in all quite rubbish!!!

This is my second review for The Olde Nook. I have visited here many times since my initial review and I have never been let down once. The food has always been excellent and very fairly priced. I always opt for the breakfast which is always superb, not to mention they do the best toast I've ever, (taking the title from Burslem Technical college way back in 1986). Staff are always great, especially the waitress with the very strong East London accent. Many thanks to all at The Olde Nook.

I really can't understand why some people are moaning about the size of this cafe! Yes, it's small - it's blatantly obvious from the moment you enter the door. So, if you worry about being "cramped", don't eat here - it's a no brainer!! IDIOTS!!!We went here on a late Sunday afternoon as it was one of the few places still serving after 3pm. We were warmly welcomed and served by a very friendly young lady from Birmingham. The food was superb as was the tea, we had a great chat with her etc. There are people moaning about being able to hear the staff in the kitchen - well, the cafe is very small and the kitchen is in an adjoining room, so of course you're going to hear the staff - ffs! Also moaning about the waitress leaning over the table, again, space is a premium so...........!? I can only think that the moaners are from Sutton Coldfield thinking they're going to some 5 star Michelin restaurant.Honestly the cafe is really nice, so give it a visit.

We saw the sign in the square advertising the nook and the breakfasts. However on sitting in the quaint room with original timbers we find the breakfasts are finished. Disappointing but as it was raining cats and dogs we decided to stay. The next four customers that arrived all asked for the breakfast and we're told they were finished. Two left without ordering the others stayed to be honest we would have left had it not been raining so heavy. The food we ordered was freshly prepared and good quality and the coffee was lovely best in lichfield I think. When a couple went to pay they were informed it was cash only this was a bit of a shock and it was lucky I had been to the cashpoint on the way because I would not have had enough cash. Despite hearing an argument from the kitchen it was quite relaxed. What they need to learn is give the customer what they want and that was clearly the breakfast menu make sure the sign at the end of Dam street advertising the breakfasts states not after 1pm and have a notice so customers know they will need cash as I for one carry very little cash as I pay by card for almost everything. They need to improve a few things and when they do it would be the gem you look for.

My experience of a ploughman's is it is usually served with a crusty baguette or a crusty roll. Overly priced, for a slice of bread and butter, lump of cheese, coleslaw, salad and Branston pickle. Customer service started well, and greeted pleasantly, however that ceased when we got our drinks. Won't go again, we will try one of the many other cafes in the vacinity in the future.

There were quite a few issues that arose during our visit here. When we first arrived, there were plenty of staff free, however no-one sorted out a table or even greeted us. When someone did finally see to us, they were not particular friendly and multiple dishes we tried to order were out of stock. Both me and my friend are vegetarian so our choices where then even more limited. Eventually we managed to order something but had to order a non- vegetarian meal with a request to NOT have the meat in. The dish arrived with bacon in still. Luckily my friend spotted it before she ate any. When we informed the staff they didn't even seem to be very apologetic. I don't like leaving bad reviews normally however due to the poor attitude of the staff, the lack of availability on the menu and the complete incompetence of the staff to cater for vegetarians in a satisfactory way, i would discourage people from eating here. It is a shame as the location is actually quite nice.

We dropped in for a lateish lunch while visiting Lichfield on a cold day. It is small and cramped, but that wouldn’t matter if staff were welcoming. They were gossiping loudly in the kitchen and very slow to greet us. A waitress finally emerged from the kitchen and took our order, but we were lucky. Two other couples came in while we were there but left because no one welcomed them or gave them a menu. When the food finally came after a longish wait it was obviously straight out of the microwave with tinned vegetables and essentially tasteless. Avoid this place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch here. A good selection on the menu. It's not the Ritz but the food was great for our needs.

I booked this cute looking cafe for afternoon tea for two of my friends and I. We all live in different places and Lichfield is about central for us, so we'd all driven an hour or so to meet. My friend is gluten free and I booked in advance to ensure it wouldn't be a problem. Booked with a chap over the phone a couple days before we went and he even asked which table I'd prefer and I advised one friend has a baby in a buggy so somewhere we wouldn't trip anyone up would be good.

Lulled in by the cosy look from outside and its proximity to Cathedral, plus we were frozen and hungry. Ordered breakfast and the told it was 'sold out'!! Please remove your board from outside if that's the case. Had to settle for a miserable offering of toasted tea cake - barely toasted and already spread with a scraping of marg /butter (who knows) and catering portion of jam. Won't be back!

Called in for lunch today. We ordered the cottage pie and the steak and ale pie. Both meals arrived fresh and hot. It's worth bearing in mind that this is not a fast food establishment and the food is cooked to order so even if there is a little waiting time you can be sure of superb food. We usually see Jen and Richard who make us feel very welcome and almost like family. A big thank you to everyone at The Olde Nook. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

We called here and fell into the trap as it felt buzzy. We sat upstairs next to the toilet door which was propped open. There was no paper towels to dry your hand.

Out of the lovely places to eat in Lichfield we were unfortunate to choose this one!-It was cramped and hot-we ordered 3 coffees, cake ,poached eggs and hot chocolate with cream and marsh mallows-coffees came 15 minutes later with dirty cups, hot chocolate came with no cream - l wasn't offered an alternative!-My friend's much anticipated coffee cake failed to materialise and the poached eggs arrived after 40minutes!-the carpet and the toilets are filthy and when l paid l was charged full price for the chocolate with non-existent cream-disgusting place with unfriendly staff!

What can I say.... wrong orders, food not cooked correctly and a very long wait. Customer service was seriously lacking. It wasn't even that busy in there. I don't know what they would if it got busy. On the plus side there is one member of staff that is on the ball. Let's just say she's in the minority.

Came to visit Nineteen during a short day trip. All staff were extremely supportive and helpful regarding the circumstances of our adult friend with autism visiting the cafe. All staff were extremely welcoming and thoughtful when supporting us during this visit, going above and beyond to meet any additional needs. Particular staff members even offered some treats/chocolate on the house (free of charge) to further support the vulnerable adult with us. The atmosphere was great and we felt very comfortable during our stay in the cafe. Food and drink options were lovely and the cakes were delicious. Unfortunately the cafe only accepts card payment. This was my first visit to Lichfield and Cafe Nineteen and we will definitely be returning.

Another Marston's Pub. I ordered the Mixed Grill. They did not have it. In my whole history of visiting Marston's pubs on only one occasion when I ordered the Mixed Grill did they have it. Is this a mythical menu item. The service was exceptional and the real ale was good. Food was standard chain pub grub.
